Daniel 9 (WEBP)

[1] In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the offspring of the Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans—
[2] in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years about which Yahweh’s° word came to Jeremiah the prophet for the accomplishing of the desolations of Jerusalem, even seventy years.
[3] I set my face to the Lord God, to seek by prayer and petitions, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.
[4] I prayed to Yahweh my God, and made confession, and said,
[5] we have sinned, and have dealt perversely, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even turning aside from your precepts and from your ordinances.
[6] We haven’t listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
[7] “Lord, righteousness belongs to you, but to us confusion of face, as it is today; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near and who are far off, through all the countries where you have driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against you.
[8] Lord, to us belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you.
[9] To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him.
[10] We haven’t obeyed Yahweh our God’s voice, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
[11] Yes, all Israel have transgressed your law, turning aside, that they should not obey your voice.
[12] He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing on us a great evil; for under the whole sky, such has not been done as has been done to Jerusalem.
[13] As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil has come on us. Yet we have not entreated the favor of Yahweh our God, that we should turn from our iniquities and have discernment in your truth.
[14] Therefore Yahweh has watched over the evil, and brought it on us; for Yahweh our God is righteous in all his works which he does, and we have not obeyed his voice.
[15] “Now, Lord our God, who has brought your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and have gotten yourself renown, as it is today, we have sinned. We have done wickedly.
[16] Lord, according to all your righteousness, please let your anger and your wrath be turned away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain; because for our sins and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and your people have become a reproach to all who are around us.
[17] “Now therefore, our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his petitions, and cause your face to shine on your sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord’s sake.
[18] My God, turn your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations, and the city which is called by your name; for we do not present our petitions before you for our righteousness, but for your great mercies’ sake.
[19] Lord, hear. Lord, forgive. Lord, listen and do. Don’t defer, for your own sake, my God, because your city and your people are called by your name.”
[20] While I was speaking, praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before Yahweh my God for the holy mountain of my God—
[21] yes, while I was speaking in prayer—the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening offering.
[22] He instructed me and talked with me, and said, “Daniel, I have now come to give you wisdom and understanding.
[23] At the beginning of your petitions the commandment went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved. Therefore consider the matter and understand the vision.
[24] “Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city, to finish disobedience, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy.
[25] “Know therefore and discern that from the going out of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem to the Anointed One,° the prince, will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. It will be built again, with street and moat, even in troubled times.
[26] After the sixty-two weeks the Anointed One° will be cut off, and will have nothing. The people of the prince who come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end will be with a flood, and war will be even to the end. Desolations are determined.
[27] He will make a firm covenant with many for one week. In the middle of the week he will cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. On the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate; and even to the decreed full end, wrath will be poured out on the desolate.”

Daniel 9 (KJVS)

[1] In the first H259 year H8141 of Darius H1867 the son H1121 of Ahasuerus H325, of the seed H2233 of the Medes H4074, which was made king H4427 (8717) over the realm H4438 of the Chaldeans H3778;
[2] In the first H259 year H8141 of his reign H4427 (8800) I Daniel H1840 understood H995 (8804) by books H5612 the number H4557 of the years H8141, whereof the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 came to Jeremiah H3414 the prophet H5030, that he would accomplish H4390 (8763) seventy H7657 years H8141 in the desolations H2723 of Jerusalem H3389.
[3] And I set H5414 (8799) my face H6440 unto the Lord H136 God H430, to seek H1245 (8763) by prayer H8605 and supplications H8469, with fasting H6685, and sackcloth H8242, and ashes H665:
[4] And I prayed H6419 (8691) unto the LORD H3068 my God H430, and made my confession H3034 (8691), and said H559 (8799), O H577 Lord H136, the great H1419 and dreadful H3372 (8737) God H410, keeping H8104 (8802) the covenant H1285 and mercy H2617 to them that love H157 (8802) him, and to them that keep H8104 (8802) his commandments H4687;
[5] We have sinned H2398 (8804), and have committed iniquity H5753 (8804), and have done wickedly H7561 (8689), and have rebelled H4775 (8804), even by departing H5493 (8800) from thy precepts H4687 and from thy judgments H4941:
[6] Neither have we hearkened H8085 (8804) unto thy servants H5650 the prophets H5030, which spake H1696 (8765) in thy name H8034 to our kings H4428, our princes H8269, and our fathers H1, and to all the people H5971 of the land H776.
[7] O Lord H136, righteousness H6666 [belongeth] unto thee, but unto us confusion H1322 of faces H6440, as at this day H3117; to the men H376 of Judah H3063, and to the inhabitants H3427 (8802) of Jerusalem H3389, and unto all Israel H3478, [that are] near H7138, and [that are] far off H7350, through all the countries H776 whither thou hast driven H5080 (8689) them, because of their trespass H4604 that they have trespassed H4603 (8804) against thee.
[8] O Lord H136, to us [belongeth] confusion H1322 of face H6440, to our kings H4428, to our princes H8269, and to our fathers H1, because we have sinned H2398 (8804) against thee.
[9] To the Lord H136 our God H430 [belong] mercies H7356 and forgivenesses H5547, though we have rebelled H4775 (8804) against him;
[10] Neither have we obeyed H8085 (8804) the voice H6963 of the LORD H3068 our God H430, to walk H3212 (8800) in his laws H8451, which he set H5414 (8804) before H6440 us by H3027 his servants H5650 the prophets H5030.
[11] Yea, all Israel H3478 have transgressed H5674 (8804) thy law H8451, even by departing H5493 (8800), that they might not obey H8085 (8800) thy voice H6963; therefore the curse H423 is poured H5413 (8799) upon us, and the oath H7621 that [is] written H3789 (8803) in the law H8451 of Moses H4872 the servant H5650 of God H430, because we have sinned H2398 (8804) against him.
[12] And he hath confirmed H6965 (8686) his words H1697, which he spake H1696 (8765) against us, and against our judges H8199 (8802) that judged H8199 (8804) us, by bringing H935 (8687) upon us a great H1419 evil H7451: for under the whole heaven H8064 hath not been done H6213 (8738) as hath been done H6213 (8738) upon Jerusalem H3389.
[13] As [it is] written H3789 (8803) in the law H8451 of Moses H4872, all this evil H7451 is come H935 (8804) upon us: yet made we not our prayer H2470 (8765) before H6440 the LORD H3068 our God H430, that we might turn H7725 (8800) from our iniquities H5771, and understand H7919 (8687) thy truth H571.
[14] Therefore hath the LORD H3068 watched H8245 (8799) upon the evil H7451, and brought H935 (8686) it upon us: for the LORD H3068 our God H430 [is] righteous H6662 in all his works H4639 which he doeth H6213 (8804): for we obeyed H8085 (8804) not his voice H6963.
[15] And now, O Lord H136 our God H430, that hast brought H3318 thy people H5971 forth H3318 (8689) out of the land H776 of Egypt H4714 with a mighty H2389 hand H3027, and hast gotten H6213 (8799) thee renown H8034, as at this day H3117; we have sinned H2398 (8804), we have done wickedly H7561 (8804).
[16] O Lord H136, according to all thy righteousness H6666, I beseech thee, let thine anger H639 and thy fury H2534 be turned away H7725 (8799) from thy city H5892 Jerusalem H3389, thy holy H6944 mountain H2022: because for our sins H2399, and for the iniquities H5771 of our fathers H1, Jerusalem H3389 and thy people H5971 [are become] a reproach H2781 to all [that are] about H5439 us.
[17] Now therefore, O our God H430, hear H8085 (8798) the prayer H8605 of thy servant H5650, and his supplications H8469, and cause thy face H6440 to shine H215 (8685) upon thy sanctuary H4720 that is desolate H8076, for the Lord’s H136 sake.
[18] O my God H430, incline H5186 (8685) thine ear H241, and hear H8085 (8798); open H6491 (8798) thine eyes H5869, and behold H7200 (8798) our desolations H8074 (8802), and the city H5892 which is called H7121 (8738) by thy name H8034: for we do not present H5307 (8688) our supplications H8469 before H6440 thee for our righteousnesses H6666, but for thy great H7227 mercies H7356.
[19] O Lord H136, hear H8085 (8798); O Lord H136, forgive H5545 (8798); O Lord H136, hearken H7181 (8685) and do H6213 (8798); defer H309 (8762) not H408, for thine own sake, O my God H430: for thy city H5892 and thy people H5971 are called H7121 (8738) by thy name H8034.
[20] And whiles I [was] speaking H1696 (8764), and praying H6419 (8693), and confessing H3034 (8693) my sin H2403 and the sin H2403 of my people H5971 Israel H3478, and presenting H5307 (8688) my supplication H8467 before H6440 the LORD H3068 my God H430 for the holy H6944 mountain H2022 of my God H430;
[21] Yea, whiles I [was] speaking H1696 (8764) in prayer H8605, even the man H376 Gabriel H1403, whom I had seen H7200 (8804) in the vision H2377 at the beginning H8462, being caused to fly H3286 (8716) swiftly H3288, touched H5060 (8802) me about the time H6256 of the evening H6153 oblation H4503.
[22] And he informed H995 (8799) [me], and talked H1696 (8762) with me, and said H559 (8799), O Daniel H1840, I am now come forth H3318 (8804) to give thee skill H7919 (8687) and understanding H998.
[23] At the beginning H8462 of thy supplications H8469 the commandment H1697 came forth H3318 (8804), and I am come H935 (8804) to shew H5046 (8687) [thee]; for thou [art] greatly beloved H2532: therefore understand H995 (8798) the matter H1697, and consider H995 (8685) the vision H4758.
[24] Seventy H7657 weeks H7620 are determined H2852 (8738) upon thy people H5971 and upon thy holy H6944 city H5892, to finish H3607 (8763) the transgression H6588, and to make an end H8552 (8687) (8675) H2856 (8800) of sins H2403, and to make reconciliation H3722 (8763) for iniquity H5771, and to bring in H935 (8687) everlasting H5769 righteousness H6664, and to seal up H2856 (8800) the vision H2377 and prophecy H5030, and to anoint H4886 (8800) the most H6944 Holy H6944.
[25] Know H3045 (8799) therefore and understand H7919 (8686), [that] from the going forth H4161 of the commandment H1697 to restore H7725 (8687) and to build H1129 (8800) Jerusalem H3389 unto the Messiah H4899 the Prince H5057 [shall be] seven H7651 weeks H7620, and threescore H8346 and two H8147 weeks H7620: the street H7339 shall be built H1129 (8738) again H7725 (8799), and the wall H2742, even in troublous H6695 times H6256.
[26] And after H310 threescore H8346 and two H8147 weeks H7620 shall Messiah H4899 be cut off H3772 (8735), but not for himself: and the people H5971 of the prince H5057 that shall come H935 (8802) shall destroy H7843 (8686) the city H5892 and the sanctuary H6944; and the end H7093 thereof [shall be] with a flood H7858, and unto the end H7093 of the war H4421 desolations H8074 (8802) are determined H2782 (8737).
[27] And he shall confirm H1396 (8689) the covenant H1285 with many H7227 for one H259 week H7620: and in the midst H2677 of the week H7620 he shall cause the sacrifice H2077 and the oblation H4503 to cease H7673 (8686), and for the overspreading H3671 of abominations H8251 he shall make [it] desolate H8074 (8789), even until the consummation H3617, and that determined H2782 (8737) shall be poured H5413 (8799) upon the desolate H8074 (8802).

Young’s Literal Translation

Daniel 9 (YLT)

[1] In the first year of Darius, son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, who hath been made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans,
[2] in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, have understood by books the number of the years, (in that a word of Jehovah hath been unto Jeremiah the prophet,) concerning the fulfilling of the wastes of Jerusalem-seventy years;
[3] and I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes.
[4] And I pray to Jehovah my God, and confess, and say: ‘I beseech Thee, O Lord God, the great and the fearful, keeping the covenant and the kindness to those loving Him, and to those keeping His commands;
[5] we have sinned, and done perversely, and done wickedly, and rebelled, to turn aside from Thy commands, and from Thy judgments:
[6] and we have not hearkened unto Thy servants, the prophets, who have spoken in Thy name unto our kings, our heads, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
[7] ‘To Thee, O Lord, is the righteousness, and to us the shame of face, as at this day, to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near, and who are far off, in all the lands whither Thou hast driven them, in their trespass that they have trespassed against Thee.
[8] ‘O Lord, to us is the shame of face, to our kings, to our heads, and to our fathers, in that we have sinned against Thee.
[9] ‘To the Lord our God are the mercies and the forgivenesses, for we have rebelled against Him,
[10] and have not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah our God, to walk in His laws, that He hath set before us by the hand of His servants the prophets;
[11] and all Israel have transgressed Thy law, to turn aside so as not to hearken to Thy voice; and poured on us is the execration, and the oath, that is written in the law of Moses, servant of God, because we have sinned against Him.
[12] ‘And He confirmeth His words that He hath spoken against us, and against our judges who have judged us, to bring in upon us great evil, in that it hath not been done under the whole heavens as it hath been done in Jerusalem,
[13] as it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil hath come upon us, and we have not appeased the face of Jehovah our God to turn back from our iniquities, and to act wisely in Thy truth.
[14] And Jehovah doth watch for the evil, and bringeth it upon us, for righteous is Jehovah our God concerning all His works that He hath done, and we have not hearkened to His voice.
[15] And now, O Lord our God, who hast brought forth Thy people from the land of Egypt by a strong hand, and dost make for Thee a name as at this day, we have sinned, we have done wickedly.
[16] ‘O Lord, according to all Thy righteous acts, let turn back, I pray Thee, Thine anger and Thy fury from Thy city Jerusalem, Thy holy mount, for by our sins, and by the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Thy people are for a reproach to all our neighbours;
[17] and now, hearken, O our God, unto the prayer of Thy servant, and unto his supplication, and cause Thy face to shine on Thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord’s sake.
[18] ‘Incline, O my God, Thine ear, and hear, open Thine eyes and see our desolations, and the city on which Thy name is called; for not for our righteous acts are we causing our supplications to fall before Thee, but for Thy mercies that are many.
[19] O lord, hear, O Lord, forgive; O Lord, attend and do; do not delay, for Thine own sake, O my God, for Thy name is called on Thy city, and on Thy people.’
[20] And while I am speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin, and the sin of my people Israel, and causing my supplication to fall before Jehovah my God, for the holy mount of my God,
[21] yea, while I am speaking in prayer, then that one Gabriel, whom I had seen in vision at the commencement, being caused to fly swiftly, is coming unto me at the time of the evening present.
[22] And he giveth understanding, and speaketh with me, and saith, ‘O Daniel, now I have come forth to cause thee to consider understanding wisely;
[23] at the commencement of thy supplications hath the word come forth, and I have come to declare it, for thou art greatly desired, and understand thou concerning the matter, and consider concerning the appearance.
[24] ‘Seventy weeks are determined for thy people, and for thy holy city, to shut up the transgression, and to seal up sins, and to cover iniquity, and to bring in righteousness age-during, and to seal up vision and prophet, and to anoint the holy of holies.
[25] And thou dost know, and dost consider wisely, from the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem till Messiah the Leader is seven weeks, and sixty and two weeks: the broad place hath been built again, and the rampart, even in the distress of the times.
[26] And after the sixty and two weeks, cut off is Messiah, and the city and the holy place are not his, the Leader who hath come doth destroy the people; and its end is with a flood, and till the end is war, determined are desolations.
[27] And he hath strengthened a covenant with many-one week, and in the midst of the week he causeth sacrifice and present to cease, and by the wing of abominations he is making desolate, even till the consummation, and that which is determined is poured on the desolate one.’
