Jeremiah 34 (WEBP)

[1] The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, with all his army, all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his dominion, and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem and against all its cities, saying:
[2] “Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘Go, and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Yahweh says, “Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon and he will burn it with fire.
[3] You won’t escape out of his hand, but will surely be taken and delivered into his hand. Your eyes will see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he will speak with you mouth to mouth. You will go to Babylon.” ’
[4] “Yet hear Yahweh’s word, O Zedekiah king of Judah. Yahweh says concerning you, ‘You won’t die by the sword.
[5] You will die in peace; and with the burnings of your fathers, the former kings who were before you, so they will make a burning for you. They will lament you, saying, “Ah Lord!” for I have spoken the word,’ says Yahweh.”
[6] Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke all these words to Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,
[7] when the king of Babylon’s army was fighting against Jerusalem and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish and against Azekah; for these alone remained of the cities of Judah as fortified cities.
[8] The word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, after King Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people who were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty to them,
[9] that every man should let his male servant, and every man his female servant, who is a Hebrew or a Hebrewess, go free, that no one should make bondservants of them, of a Jew his brother.
[10] All the princes and all the people obeyed who had entered into the covenant, that everyone should let his male servant and everyone his female servant go free, that no one should make bondservants of them any more. They obeyed and let them go,
[11] but afterwards they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids whom they had let go free to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.
[12] Therefore Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,
[13] “Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: ‘I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying:
[14] At the end of seven years, every man of you shall release his brother who is a Hebrew, who has been sold to you, and has served you six years. You shall let him go free from you. But your fathers didn’t listen to me, and didn’t incline their ear.
[15] You had now turned, and had done that which is right in my eyes, in every man proclaiming liberty to his neighbor. You had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name;
[16] but you turned and profaned my name, and every man caused his servant and every man his handmaid, whom you had let go free at their pleasure, to return. You brought them into subjection, to be to you for servants and for handmaids.’ ”
[17] Therefore Yahweh says: “You have not listened to me, to proclaim liberty, every man to his brother, and every man to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim to you a liberty,” says Yahweh, “to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine. I will make you be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth.
[18] I will give the men who have transgressed my covenant, who have not performed the words of the covenant which they made before me when they cut the calf in two and passed between its parts:
[19] the princes of Judah, the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, the priests, and all the people of the land, who passed between the parts of the calf.
[20] I will even give them into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their life. Their dead bodies will be food for the birds of the sky and for the animals of the earth.
[21] “I will give Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes into the hands of their enemies, into the hands of those who seek their life and into the hands of the king of Babylon’s army, who has gone away from you.
[22] Behold, I will command,” says Yahweh, “and cause them to return to this city. They will fight against it, take it, and burn it with fire. I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.”

Jeremiah 34 (KJVS)

[1] The word H1697 which came unto Jeremiah H3414 from the LORD H3068, when Nebuchadnezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894, and all his army H2428, and all the kingdoms H4467 of the earth H776 of his dominion H3027 H4475, and all the people H5971, fought H3898 (8737) against Jerusalem H3389, and against all the cities H5892 thereof, saying H559 (8800),
[2] Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068, the God H430 of Israel H3478; Go H1980 (8800) and speak H559 (8804) to Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 of Judah H3063, and tell H559 (8804) him, Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068; Behold, I will give H5414 (8802) this city H5892 into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon H894, and he shall burn H8313 (8804) it with fire H784:
[3] And thou shalt not escape out H4422 (8735) of his hand H3027, but shalt surely H8610 (8800) be taken H8610 (8735), and delivered H5414 (8735) into his hand H3027; and thine eyes H5869 shall behold H7200 (8799) the eyes H5869 of the king H4428 of Babylon H894, and he shall speak H1696 (8762) with thee mouth H6310 to mouth H6310, and thou shalt go H935 (8799) to Babylon H894.
[4] Yet hear H8085 (8798) the word H1697 of the LORD H3068, O Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 of Judah H3063; Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068 of thee, Thou shalt not die H4191 (8799) by the sword H2719:
[5] [But] thou shalt die H4191 (8799) in peace H7965: and with the burnings H4955 of thy fathers H1, the former H7223 kings H4428 which were before H6440 thee, so shall they burn H8313 (8799) [odours] for thee; and they will lament H5594 (8799) thee, [saying], Ah H1945 lord H113! for I have pronounced H1696 (8765) the word H1697, saith H5002 (8803) the LORD H3068.
[6] Then Jeremiah H3414 the prophet H5030 spake H1696 (8762) all these words H1697 unto Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 of Judah H3063 in Jerusalem H3389,
[7] When the king H4428 of Babylon’s H894 army H2428 fought H3898 (8737) against Jerusalem H3389, and against all the cities H5892 of Judah H3063 that were left H3498 (8737), against Lachish H3923, and against Azekah H5825: for these defenced H4013 cities H5892 remained H7604 (8738) of the cities H5892 of Judah H3063.
[8] [This is] the word H1697 that came unto Jeremiah H3414 from the LORD H3068, after H310 that the king H4428 Zedekiah H6667 had made H3772 (8800) a covenant H1285 with all the people H5971 which [were] at Jerusalem H3389, to proclaim H7121 (8800) liberty H1865 unto them;
[9] That every man H376 should let his manservant H5650, and every man H376 his maidservant H8198, [being] an Hebrew H5680 or an Hebrewess H5680, go H7971 (8763) free H2670; that none should serve H5647 (8800) himself of them, [to wit], of a Jew H3064 his brother H251.
[10] Now when all the princes H8269, and all the people H5971, which had entered H935 (8804) into the covenant H1285, heard H8085 (8799) that every one H376 should let his manservant H5650, and every one H376 his maidservant H8198, go H7971 (8763) free H2670, that none should serve H5647 (8800) themselves of them any more, then they obeyed H8085 (8799), and let [them] go H7971 (8762).
[11] But afterward H310 they turned H7725 (8799), and caused the servants H5650 and the handmaids H8198, whom they had let go H7971 (8765) free H2670, to return H7725 (8686), and brought them into subjection H3533 (8799) (8675) H3533 (8686) for servants H5650 and for handmaids H8198.
[12] Therefore the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 came to Jeremiah H3414 from the LORD H3068, saying H559 (8800),
[13] Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068, the God H430 of Israel H3478; I made H3772 (8804) a covenant H1285 with your fathers H1 in the day H3117 that I brought them forth H3318 (8687) out of the land H776 of Egypt H4714, out of the house H1004 of bondmen H5650, saying H559 (8800),
[14] At the end H7093 of seven H7651 years H8141 let ye go H7971 (8762) every man H376 his brother H251 an Hebrew H5680, which hath been sold H4376 (8735) unto thee; and when he hath served H5647 (8804) thee six H8337 years H8141, thou shalt let him go H7971 (8765) free H2670 from thee: but your fathers H1 hearkened H8085 (8804) not unto me, neither inclined H5186 (8689) their ear H241.
[15] And ye were now H3117 turned H7725 (8799), and had done H6213 (8799) right H3477 in my sight H5869, in proclaiming H7121 (8800) liberty H1865 every man H376 to his neighbour H7453; and ye had made H3772 (8799) a covenant H1285 before H6440 me in the house H1004 which is called H7121 (8738) by my name H8034:
[16] But ye turned H7725 (8799) and polluted H2490 (8762) my name H8034, and caused every man H376 his servant H5650, and every man H376 his handmaid H8198, whom ye had set H7971 (8765) at liberty H2670 at their pleasure H5315, to return H7725 (8686), and brought them into subjection H3533 (8799), to be unto you for servants H5650 and for handmaids H8198.
[17] Therefore thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068; Ye have not hearkened H8085 (8804) unto me, in proclaiming H7121 (8800) liberty H1865, every one H376 to his brother H251, and every man H376 to his neighbour H7453: behold, I proclaim H7121 (8802) a liberty H1865 for you, saith H5002 (8803) the LORD H3068, to the sword H2719, to the pestilence H1698, and to the famine H7458; and I will make H5414 (8804) you to be removed H2189 (8675) H2113 into all the kingdoms H4467 of the earth H776.
[18] And I will give H5414 (8804) the men H582 that have transgressed H5674 (8802) my covenant H1285, which have not performed H6965 (8689) the words H1697 of the covenant H1285 which they had made H3772 (8804) before H6440 me, when they cut H3772 (8804) the calf H5695 in twain H8147, and passed H5674 (8799) between the parts H1335 thereof,
[19] The princes H8269 of Judah H3063, and the princes H8269 of Jerusalem H3389, the eunuchs H5631, and the priests H3548, and all the people H5971 of the land H776, which passed H5674 (8802) between the parts H1335 of the calf H5695;
[20] I will even give H5414 (8804) them into the hand H3027 of their enemies H341 (8802), and into the hand H3027 of them that seek H1245 (8764) their life H5315: and their dead bodies H5038 shall be for meat H3978 unto the fowls H5775 of the heaven H8064, and to the beasts H929 of the earth H776.
[21] And Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 of Judah H3063 and his princes H8269 will I give H5414 (8799) into the hand H3027 of their enemies H341 (8802), and into the hand H3027 of them that seek H1245 (8764) their life H5315, and into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon’s H894 army H2428, which are gone up H5927 (8802) from you.
[22] Behold, I will command H6680 (8764), saith H5002 (8803) the LORD H3068, and cause them to return H7725 (8689) to this city H5892; and they shall fight H3898 (8738) against it, and take H3920 (8804) it, and burn H8313 (8804) it with fire H784: and I will make H5414 (8799) the cities H5892 of Judah H3063 a desolation H8077 without an inhabitant H3427 (8802).

Young’s Literal Translation

Jeremiah 34 (YLT)

[1] The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah-and Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his force, and all kingdoms of the land of the dominion of his hand, and all the peoples are fighting against Jerusalem, and against all its cities-saying:
[2] ‘Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel: Go, and thou hast spoken unto Zedekiah king of Judah, and hast said unto him, Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he hath burned it with fire,
[3] and thou, thou dost not escape out of his hand, for thou art certainly caught, and into his hand thou art given, and thine eyes see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and his mouth with thy mouth speaketh, and Babylon thou enterest.
[4] ‘Only, hear a word of Jehovah, O Zedekiah king of Judah, Thus said Jehovah unto thee: Thou dost not die by sword,
[5] in peace thou diest, and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings who have been before thee, so they make a burning for thee; and Ah, lord, they lament for thee, for the word I have spoken-an affirmation of Jehovah.’
[6] And Jeremiah the prophet speaketh unto Zedekiah king of Judah all these words in Jerusalem,
[7] and the forces of the king of Babylon are fighting against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that are left-against Lachish, and against Azekah, for these have been left among the cities of Judah, cities of fortresses.
[8] The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, after the making by the king Zedekiah of a covenant with all the people who are in Jerusalem, to proclaim to them liberty,
[9] to send out each his man-servant, and each his maid-servant-the Hebrew and the Hebrewess-free, so as not to lay service on them, any on a Jew his brother;
[10] and hearken do all the heads, and all the people who have come in to the covenant to send forth each his man-servant and each his maid-servant free, so as not to lay service on them any more, yea, they hearken, and send them away;
[11] and they turn afterwards, and cause the men-servants and the maid-servants to return, whom they had sent forth free, and they subdue them for men-servants and for maid-servants.
[12] And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:
[13] ‘Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, I-I made a covenant with your fathers in the day of My bringing them forth fr4om the land of Egypt, from a house of servants, saying,
[14] At the end of seven years ye do send forth each his brother, the Hebrew, who is sold to thee, and hath served thee six years, yea, thou hast sent him forth free from thee: and your fathers hearkened not unto Me, nor inclined their ear.
[15] ‘And ye turn back, ye to-day, and ye do that which is right in Mine eyes, to proclaim liberty each to his neighbour, and ye make a covenant before Me in the house over which My name is called.
[16] And-ye turn back, and pollute My name, and ye cause each his man-servant and each his maid-servant, whom he had sent forth free, (at their pleasure,) to return, and ye subdue them to be to you for men-servants and for maid-servants.
[17] ‘Therefore, thus said Jehovah: Ye have not hearkened unto Me to proclaim freedom, each to his brother, and each to his neighbour; lo, I am proclaiming to you liberty-an affirmation of Jehovah-unto the sword, unto the pestilence, and unto the famine, and I have given you for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth.
[18] ‘And I have given the men who are transgressing My covenant, who have not established the words of the covenant that they have made before Me, by the calf, that they have cut in two, and pass through between its pieces-
[19] heads of Judah, and heads of Jerusalem, the officers, and the priests, and all the people of the land those passing through between the pieces of the calf-
[20] yea, I have given them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those seeking their soul, and their carcase hath been for food to the fowl of the heavens, and to the beast of the earth.
[21] ‘And Zedekiah king of Judah, and his heads, I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those seeking their soul, and into the hand of the forces of the king of Babylon, that are going up from off you.
[22] Lo, I am commanding-an affirmation of Jehovah-and have brought them back unto this city, and they have fought against it, and captured it, and burned it with fire, and the cities of Judah I do make a desolation-without inhabitant.’
