Psalm 2 (ASV, KJVS, YLT)
American Standard VersionPsalm 21. Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing?2. The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying, 3. Let us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us. 4. He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision. 5. Then will he speak unto them in his wrath, And vex them in his sore displeasure: 6. Yet I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion. 7. I will tell of the decree: Jehovah said unto me, Thou art my son; This day have I begotten thee. 8. Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. 9. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. 10. Now therefore be wise, O ye kings: Be instructed, ye judges of the earth. 11. Serve Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling. 12. Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that take refuge in him. |
King James w/Strong's #'sPsalm 21. Why do the heathen [1471] rage [7283] (8804), and the people [3816] imagine [1897] (8799) a vain thing [7385]?2. The kings [4428] of the earth [0776] set [3320] (8691) themselves, and the rulers [7336] (8802) take counsel [3245] (8738) together [3162], against the LORD [3068], and against his anointed [4899], [saying], 3. Let us break [5423] their bands [4147] asunder [5423] (8762), and cast away [7993] (8686) their cords [5688] from us. 4. He that sitteth [3427] (8802) in the heavens [8064] shall laugh [7832] (8799): the Lord [0136] shall have them in derision [3932] (8799). 5. Then shall he speak [1696] (8762) unto them in his wrath [0639], and vex [0926] (8762) them in his sore displeasure [2740]. 6. Yet have I set [5258] (8804) my king [4428] upon my holy [6944] hill [2022] of Zion [6726]. 7. I will declare [5608] (8762) the decree [2706]: the LORD [3068] hath said [0559] (8804) unto me, Thou [art] my Son [1121]; this day [3117] have I begotten [3205] (8804) thee. 8. Ask [7592] (8798) of me, and I shall give [5414] (8799) [thee] the heathen [1471] [for] thine inheritance [5159], and the uttermost parts [0657] of the earth [0776] [for] thy possession [0272]. 9. Thou shalt break [7489] (8799) them with a rod [7626] of iron [1270]; thou shalt dash them in pieces [5310] (8762) like a potter's [3335] (8802) vessel [3627]. 10. Be wise [7919] (8685) now therefore, O ye kings [4428]: be instructed [3256] (8734), ye judges [8199] (8802) of the earth [0776]. 11. Serve [5647] (8798) the LORD [3068] with fear [3374], and rejoice [1523] (8798) with trembling [7461]. 12. Kiss [5401] (8761) the Son [1248], lest he be angry [0599] (8799), and ye perish [0006] (8799) [from] the way [1870], when his wrath [0639] is kindled [1197] (8799) but a little [4592]. Blessed [0835] [are] all they that put their trust [2620] (8802) in him. |
Young's Literal TranslationPsalm 21. Why have nations tumultuously assembled? And do peoples meditate vanity?2. Station themselves do kings of the earth, And princes have been united together, Against Jehovah, and against His Messiah: 3. 'Let us draw off Their cords, And cast from us Their thick bands.' 4. He who is sitting in the heavens doth laugh, The Lord doth mock at them. 5. Then doth He speak unto them in His anger, And in His wrath He doth trouble them: 6. 'And I-I have anointed My King, Upon Zion-My holy hill.' 7. I declare concerning a statute: Jehovah said unto me, 'My Son Thou art, I to-day have brought thee forth. 8. Ask of Me and I give nations-thy inheritance, And thy possession-the ends of earth. 9. Thou dost rule them with a sceptre of iron, As a vessel of a potter Thou dost crush them.' 10. And now, O kings, act wisely, Be instructed, O judges of earth, 11. Serve ye Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling. 12. Kiss the Chosen One, lest He be angry, And ye lose the way, When His anger burneth but a little, O the happiness of all trusting in Him! |
