Isaiah 48 (WEBP)

[1] “Hear this, house of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel, and have come out of the waters of Judah. You swear by Yahweh’s name, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness—
[2] for they call themselves citizens of the holy city, and rely on the God of Israel; Yahweh of Armies is his name.
[3] I have declared the former things from of old. Yes, they went out of my mouth, and I revealed them. I did them suddenly, and they happened.
[4] Because I knew that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew, and your brow bronze;
[5] therefore I have declared it to you from of old; before it came to pass I showed it to you; lest you should say, ‘My idol has done them. My engraved image and my molten image has commanded them.’
[6] You have heard it. Now see all this. And you, won’t you declare it? “I have shown you new things from this time, even hidden things, which you have not known.
[7] They are created now, and not from of old. Before today, you didn’t hear them, lest you should say, ‘Behold, I knew them.’
[8] Yes, you didn’t hear. Yes, you didn’t know. Yes, from of old your ear was not opened, for I knew that you dealt very treacherously, and were called a transgressor from the womb.
[9] For my name’s sake, I will defer my anger, and for my praise, I hold it back for you so that I don’t cut you off.
[10] Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver. I have chosen you in the furnace of affliction.
[11] For my own sake, for my own sake, I will do it; for how would my name be profaned? I will not give my glory to another.
[12] “Listen to me, O Jacob, and Israel my called: I am he. I am the first. I am also the last.
[13] Yes, my hand has laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand has spread out the heavens. when I call to them, they stand up together.
[14] “Assemble yourselves, all of you, and hear! Who among them has declared these things? He whom Yahweh loves will do what he likes to Babylon, and his arm will be against the Chaldeans.
[15] I, even I, have spoken. Yes, I have called him. I have brought him and he shall make his way prosperous.
[16] “Come near to me and hear this: “From the beginning I have not spoken in secret; from the time that it happened, I was there.” Now the Lord Yahweh has sent me with his Spirit.
[17] Yahweh, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, says: “I am Yahweh your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way that you should go.
[18] Oh that you had listened to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
[19] Your offspring also would have been as the sand and the descendants of your body like its grains. His name would not be cut off nor destroyed from before me.”
[20] Leave Babylon! Flee from the Chaldeans! With the sound of joyful shouting announce this, tell it even to the end of the earth; say, “Yahweh has redeemed his servant Jacob!”
[21] They didn’t thirst when he led them through the deserts. He caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them. He also split the rock and the waters gushed out.
[22] “There is no peace”, says Yahweh, “for the wicked.”

Isaiah 48 (KJVS)

[1] Hear H8085 (8798) ye this, O house H1004 of Jacob H3290, which are called H7121 (8737) by the name H8034 of Israel H3478, and are come forth H3318 (8804) out of the waters H4325 of Judah H3063, which swear H7650 (8737) by the name H8034 of the LORD H3068, and make mention H2142 (8686) of the God H430 of Israel H3478, [but] not in truth H571, nor in righteousness H6666.
[2] For they call H7121 (8738) themselves of the holy H6944 city H5892, and stay H5564 (8738) themselves upon the God H430 of Israel H3478; The LORD H3068 of hosts H6635 [is] his name H8034.
[3] I have declared H5046 (8689) the former things H7223 from the beginning H227; and they went forth H3318 (8804) out of my mouth H6310, and I shewed H8085 (8686) them; I did H6213 (8804) [them] suddenly H6597, and they came to pass H935 (8799).
[4] Because I knew H1847 that thou [art] obstinate H7186, and thy neck H6203 [is] an iron H1270 sinew H1517, and thy brow H4696 brass H5154;
[5] I have even from the beginning H227 declared H5046 (8686) [it] to thee; before it came to pass H935 (8799) I shewed H8085 (8689) [it] thee: lest thou shouldest say H559 (8799), Mine idol H6090 hath done H6213 (8804) them, and my graven image H6459, and my molten image H5262, hath commanded H6680 (8765) them.
[6] Thou hast heard H8085 (8804), see H2372 (8798) all this; and will not ye declare H5046 (8686) [it]? I have shewed H8085 (8689) thee new things H2319 from this time H6258, even hidden things H5341 (8803), and thou didst not know H3045 (8804) them.
[7] They are created H1254 (8738) now, and not from the beginning; even before H6440 the day H3117 when thou heardest H8085 (8804) them not; lest thou shouldest say H559 (8799), Behold, I knew H3045 (8804) them.
[8] Yea, thou heardest H8085 (8804) not; yea, thou knewest H3045 (8804) not; yea, from that time [that] thine ear H241 was not opened H6605 (8765): for I knew H3045 (8804) that thou wouldest deal very H898 (8800) treacherously H898 (8799), and wast called H7121 (8795) a transgressor H6586 (8802) from the womb H990.
[9] For my name’s H8034 sake will I defer H748 (8686) mine anger H639, and for my praise H8416 will I refrain H2413 (8799) for thee, that I cut thee not off H3772 (8687).
[10] Behold, I have refined H6884 (8804) thee, but not with silver H3701; I have chosen H977 (8804) thee in the furnace H3564 of affliction H6040.
[11] For mine own sake, [even] for mine own sake, will I do H6213 (8799) [it]: for how should [my name] be polluted H2490 (8735)? and I will not give H5414 (8799) my glory H3519 unto another H312.
[12] Hearken H8085 (8798) unto me, O Jacob H3290 and Israel H3478, my called H7121 (8794); I [am] he; I [am] the first H7223, I also [am] the last H314.
[13] Mine hand H3027 also hath laid the foundation H3245 (8804) of the earth H776, and my right hand H3225 hath spanned H2946 (8765) the heavens H8064: [when] I call H7121 (8802) unto them, they stand up H5975 (8799) together H3162.
[14] All ye, assemble H6908 (8734) yourselves, and hear H8085 (8798); which among them hath declared H5046 (8689) these [things]? The LORD H3068 hath loved H157 (8804) him: he will do H6213 (8799) his pleasure H2656 on Babylon H894, and his arm H2220 [shall be on] the Chaldeans H3778.
[15] I, [even] I, have spoken H1696 (8765); yea, I have called H7121 (8804) him: I have brought H935 (8689) him, and he shall make his way H1870 prosperous H6743 (8689).
[16] Come H7126 (8798) ye near H7126 (8798) unto me, hear H8085 (8798) ye this; I have not spoken H1696 (8765) in secret H5643 from the beginning H7218; from the time H6256 that it was, there [am] I: and now the Lord H136 GOD H3069, and his Spirit H7307, hath sent H7971 (8804) me.
[17] Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068, thy Redeemer H1350 (8802), the Holy One H6918 of Israel H3478; I [am] the LORD H3068 thy God H430 which teacheth H3925 (8764) thee to profit H3276 (8687), which leadeth H1869 (8688) thee by the way H1870 [that] thou shouldest go H3212 (8799).
[18] O that H3863 thou hadst hearkened H7181 (8689) to my commandments H4687! then had thy peace H7965 been as a river H5104, and thy righteousness H6666 as the waves H1530 of the sea H3220:
[19] Thy seed H2233 also had been as the sand H2344, and the offspring H6631 of thy bowels H4578 like the gravel H4579 thereof; his name H8034 should not have been cut off H3772 (8735) nor destroyed H8045 (8735) from before H6440 me.
[20] Go ye forth H3318 (8798) of Babylon H894, flee H1272 (8798) ye from the Chaldeans H3778, with a voice H6963 of singing H7440 declare H5046 (8685) ye, tell H8085 (8685) this, utter H3318 (8685) it [even] to the end H7097 of the earth H776; say H559 (8798) ye, The LORD H3068 hath redeemed H1350 (8804) his servant H5650 Jacob H3290.
[21] And they thirsted H6770 (8804) not [when] he led H3212 (8689) them through the deserts H2723: he caused the waters H4325 to flow H5140 (8689) out of the rock H6697 for them: he clave H1234 (8799) the rock H6697 also, and the waters H4325 gushed out H2100 (8799).
[22] [There is] no peace H7965, saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068, unto the wicked H7563.

Young’s Literal Translation

Isaiah 48 (YLT)

[1] Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, Who are called by the name of Israel, And from the waters of Judah came out, Who are swearing by the name of Jehovah, And of the God of Israel make mention, Not in truth nor in righteousness.
[2] For from the Holy City they have been called, And on the God of Israel been supported, Jehovah of Hosts is His name.
[3] The former things from that time I declared, And from my mouth they have gone forth, And I proclaim them, Suddenly I have done, and it cometh.
[4] From my knowing that thou art obstinate, And a sinew of iron thy neck, And thy forehead brass,
[5] And I declare to thee from that time, Before it cometh I have caused thee to hear, Lest thou say, ‘Mine idol hath done them, And my graven image, And my molten image did command them.
[6] Thou hast heard, see the whole of it, And ye, do ye not declare? I have caused thee to hear new things from this time, And things reserved that ye knew not.
[7] Now they have been produced and not from that time, Yea, before the day, and thou hast not heard them, Lest thou say, ‘Lo, I have known them.’
[8] Yea, thou hast not heard, Yea, thou hast not known, Yea, from that time not opened hath thine ear, For I have known thou dealest treacherously, And ‘Transgressor from the belly,’ One is crying to thee.
[9] For My name’s sake I defer Mine anger, And My praise I restrain for thee, So as not to cut thee off.
[10] Lo, I have refined thee, and not with silver, I have chosen thee in a furnace of affliction.
[11] For My sake, for Mine own sake, I do it, For how is it polluted? And Mine honour to another I give not.
[12] Hearken to me, O Jacob, and Israel, My called one, I am He, I am first, and I am last;
[13] Also, My hand hath founded earth, And My right hand stretched out the heavens, I am calling unto them, they stand together.
[14] Be gathered all of you, and hear, Who among them did declare these things? Jehovah hath loved him, He doth His pleasure on Babylon, And His arm is on the Chaldeans.
[15] I-I have spoken, yea, I have called him, I have brought him in, And he hath made prosperous his way.
[16] Come ye near unto me, hear this, Not from the beginning in secret spake I, From the time of its being, there am I, And now the Lord Jehovah hath sent me, and His Spirit.
[17] Thus said Jehovah, thy redeemer, The Holy One of Israel, ‘I am Jehovah thy God, teaching thee to profit, Causing thee to tread in the way thou goest.
[18] O that thou hadst attended to My commands, Then as a river is thy peace, And thy righteousness as billows of the sea,
[19] And as sand is thy seed, And the offspring of thy bowels as its gravel, Not cut off nor destroyed his name before Me.
[20] Go out from Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans, With a voice of singing declare, Cause ye this to be heard, Bring it forth unto the end of the earth, Say, Redeemed hath Jehovah His servant Jacob.
[21] And they have not thirsted in waste places, He hath caused them to go on, Waters from a rock he hath caused to flow to them, Yea, he cleaveth a rock, and flow do waters.
[22] There is no peace, said Jehovah, to the wicked!
