“Losing Battles” in the Valleys EGP Blog post from March 18, 2013

I have the tendency to overthink things, overdo things, burnout, neglect, rinse, and repeat… I imagine that part of this is from the inherent desire to be like God that Satan has tempted us with from the beginning. I’m thankful to serve a God who has the capacity to oversee all of His creation, from the universe as a whole, to me as an individual (of which the universe does NOT revolve around), down to the “God particle” (of which I’m sure they’ll find later to be made up of even smaller parts, as has happened many times before).

When we’re facing a “losing battle,” we are to praise God no matter the outcome. God knows, God cares, God is faithful, God is just, God is merciful, God is sovereign, and God is The Great I Am!

When you’re in one of life’s many valleys, remember:

Psalm 121 ()

[1] I look up to the mountains-does my help come from there? [2] My help comes from the LORD, who made the heavens and the earth! [3] He will not let you stumble and fall; the one who watches over you will not sleep. [4] Indeed, he who watches over Israel never tires and never sleeps. [5] The LORD himself watches over you! The LORD stands beside you as your protective shade. [6] The sun will not hurt you by day, nor the moon at night. [7] The LORD keeps you from all evil and preserves your life. [8] The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.
