God Wastes Nothing EGP Blog post from May 28, 2023

“So if you are suffering according to God’s will, keep on doing what is right, and trust yourself to the God who made you, for He will never fail you.” 1 Peter 4:19 (NLT)

When upgrading this website, it was quite frustrating to repeatedly start over. I was praying for direction, got guidance from God, developed for a while, and maybe made it a bit further than past attempts. Then I’d undoubtedly hit a hard roadblock and had to start over … again and again.

On a bad day, after several years of this pattern, I angrily prayed. “You told me to go these directions and none of them worked. Why keep wasting time when I’m actually trying to seek Your voice and be obedient?”

In His gentle, paternal way, He reminded me, “Son, I waste nothing. Don’t lose heart. Continue to seek Me. Be faithful and diligent. A breakthrough is coming.”

Luke 1:37 (WEBP)

For nothing spoken by God is impossible.Ӥ

Luke 1:37 or, “For everything spoken by God is possible.”

The idea here is that when God Himself speaks something over you personally (i.e., rhema), it is unstoppable. As opposed to a proverb, which is usually true; or a promise to someone else, which may have some application to others or can show us the heart of God through their testimony.

Another year or so and another couple versions later, things finally changed. I leerily hit a new apex with the site. Technologies that weren’t available before now were in place to help with the migration efforts and to fairly easily fill gaps that were of concern when rebuilding. Things that would have taken months got done in days. In other words, things that didn’t even exist when I started this journey were sliding into their divinely orchestrated place. And, as my mom says, “God works swiftly … in His timing.”

faithfully walk wherever God takes you,
with whatever He gives you,
for however long He has it that way

I asked God why it changed so many times along the way, if He knew where it would end up and most of final pieces existed from the beginning of this process. In His gentle, paternal way, He told me, “A part of you would have constantly wondered if you did things the ‘right’ way. You got a chance to explore some of those ways and are now established with this path.”

So, wherever you are on your journey, remember to diligently seek God’s heart and His voice. Faithfully walk wherever He takes you, with whatever He gives you, for however long He has it that way. So, stand firm, a breakthrough is coming … in His timing.

1 Peter 4:19 (NLT)

So if you are suffering according to God’s will, keep on doing what is right, and trust yourself to the God who made you, for he will never fail you.
