Luke 7:34, 36, 39 ()

[34] “The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ … [36] Now one of the Pharisees was requesting Him to dine with him, and He entered the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table.[39] Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet He would know who and what sort of person this woman is who is touching Him, that she is a sinner.”

Luke 7:34a Or wine-drinker
Luke 7:34b I.e. irreligious Jews
Luke 7:36 Lit eat
Luke 7:39 I.e. an immoral woman

I have to admit, this passage makes me laugh. I mean, RIGHT after Jesus chews out the Pharisees for belittling Him for eating with “sinners”, a Pharisee decides to invite Him over to eat, and then, to top it off, belittles Him for a sinner coming over during the meal!

Well, this is what Jesus had to say in verse : “For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.”

Jesus didn’t deny that she had MANY sins, but He surely didn’t deny HER for seeking Him! Let us all remember how much Jesus has forgiven us all our MANY sins!
