Love and Respect – EGP Blog post from September 17, 2012

The biggest reasons married couples go to counseling, end up in adulterous relationships, and/or end up getting divorced is that the woman doesn’t feel loved or understood and the man doesn’t feel respected.

Ephesians 5:25–26 ()

[25] Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, [26] so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,

Ephesians 5:33 ()

[33] So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

1 Peter 3:7 ()

[7] In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat her with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. If you don’t treat her as you should, your prayers will not be heard.

If you’re married, do these things to the best of your ability and pray that God will help you do them even better! If you’re single and desire to get married, look for these qualities…you’re worth it!
