και εθυμωθη ασα τω προφητη και παρεθετο αυτον εις φυλακην οτι ωργισθη επι τουτω και ελυμηνατο ασα εν τω λαω εν τω καιρω εκεινω

Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in Yahweh’s house.

Then Pashur H6583 smote H5221 (HiphImpf) Jeremiah H3414 the prophet, H5030 and put H5414 (QalImpf) him in the stocks H4115 that were in the high H5945 gate H8179 of Benjamin, H1144 which was by the house H1004 of the Lord. H3068

και επαταξεν αυτον και ενεβαλεν αυτον εις τον καταρρακτην ος ην εν πυλη οικου αποτεταγμενου του υπερωου ος ην εν οικω κυριου

On the next day, Pashhur released Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him, “Yahweh has not called your name Pashhur, but Magormissabib.°

Jeremiah 20:3 “Magormissabib” means “surrounded by terror”

And it came to pass on the morrow, H4283 that Pashur H6583 brought forth H3318 (HiphImpf) Jeremiah H3414 out of the stocks. H4115 Then said H559 (QalImpf) Jeremiah H3414 unto him, The Lord H3068 hath not called H7121 (QalPerf) thy name H8034 Pashur, H6583 but Magor-missabib.° H4036

Jeremiah 20:3 That is, fear round about

και εξηγαγεν πασχωρ τον ιερεμιαν εκ του καταρρακτου και ειπεν αυτω ιερεμιας ουχι πασχωρ εκαλεσεν κυριος το ονομα σου αλλ η μετοικον

“Yahweh has made you priest in the place of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in Yahweh’s house, for every man who is crazy and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles.

the Lord H3068 hath made H5414 (QalPerf) thee priest H3548 in the stead of Jehoiada H3077 the priest, H3548 that ye should be officers H6496 in the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 for every man H376 that is mad, H7696 (PualPtc) and maketh himself a prophet, H5012 (HithPtc) that thou shouldest put H5414 (QalPerf) him in prison, H4115 and in the stocks.
