In the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, before the separate place, and before the building, there were rooms.

In the breadth of the wall of the court eastward, unto the front of the separate place, and unto the front of the building, are chambers.

Behold, there was a wall on the outside of the house all around, and in the man’s hand a measuring reed six cubits° long, of a cubit and a hand width each. So he measured the thickness of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.

Ezekiel 40:5 A normal cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters. A handbreadth is about 4.3 inches or 11 centimeters, so the long cubit described here would be about 22.3 inches or 57 centimeters long. Thus, a 6 long cubit measuring reed would have been about 3 yards 26.6 inches or about 3.42 meters long.

And behold a wall H2346 on the outside H2351 of the house H1004 round about H5439, and in the man’s H376 hand H3027 a measuring H4060 reed H7070 of six H8337 cubits H520 [long] by the cubit H520 and an hand breadth H2948: so he measured H4058 (8799) the breadth H7341 of the building H1146, one H259 reed H7070; and the height H6967, one H259 reed H7070.

And lo, a wall on the outside of the house all round about, and in the hand of the man a measuring-reed, six cubits by a cubit and a handbreadth, and he measureth the breadth of the building one reed, and the height one reed.

Now the upper rooms were shorter; for the galleries took away from these more than from the lower and the middle in the building.

Now the upper H5945 chambers H3957 [were] shorter H7114 (8803): for the galleries H862 were higher H398 (8799) than these H2007, than the lower H8481, and than the middlemost H8484 of the building H1146.

And the upper chambers are short, for the galleries contain more than these, than the lower, and than the middle one, of the building;

Now the building H1146 that [was] before H6440 the separate place H1508 at the end H6285 toward H1870 the west H3220 [was] seventy H7657 cubits H520 broad H7341; and the wall H7023 of the building H1146 [was] five H2568 cubits H520 thick H7341 round about H5439, and the length H753 thereof ninety H8673 cubits H520.

As to the building that is at the front of the separate place at the corner westward, the breadth is seventy cubits, and the wall of the building five cubits broad all round about, and its length ninety cubits.

Then he brought me out into the outer court, the way toward the north. Then he brought me into the room that was opposite the separate place, and which was opposite the building toward the north.

And he bringeth me forth unto the outer court, the way northward, and he bringeth me in unto the chamber that is over-against the separate place, and that is over-against the building at the north.
