Ezekiel 40:5 (100.00%)

World English Bible:

Behold, there was a wall on the outside of the house all around, and in the man’s hand a measuring reed six cubits long, of a cubit and a hand width each. So he measured the thickness of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.

Ezekiel 40:5 A normal cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters. A handbreadth is about 4.3 inches or 11 centimeters, so the long cubit described here would be about 22.3 inches or 57 centimeters long. Thus, a 6 long cubit measuring reed would have been about 3 yards 26.6 inches or about 3.42 meters long.

King James w/Strong’s #s:

And behold a wall on the outside of the house round about , and in the man’s hand a measuring reed of six cubits [long] by the cubit and an hand breadth : so he measured () the breadth of the building , one reed ; and the height , one reed .

Young’s Literal Translation:

And lo, a wall on the outside of the house all round about, and in the hand of the man a measuring-reed, six cubits by a cubit and a handbreadth, and he measureth the breadth of the building one reed, and the height one reed.

“These are the measurements of the altar by cubits (the cubit is a cubit and a hand width): the bottom shall be a cubit, and the width a cubit, and its border around its edge a span; and this shall be the base of the altar.

Ezekiel 43:13a A normal cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters. A hand width is about 4.3 inches or 11 cm.
Ezekiel 43:13b A span is the length from the tip of a man’s thumb to the tip of his little finger when his hand is stretched out (about half a cubit, or 9 inches, or 22.8 cm.)

King James w/Strong’s #s:

And these [are] the measures of the altar after the cubits : The cubit [is] a cubit and an hand breadth ; even the bottom [shall be] a cubit , and the breadth a cubit , and the border thereof by the edge thereof round about [shall be] a span : and this [shall be] the higher place of the altar .

Young’s Literal Translation:

‘And these are measures of the altar by cubits: The cubit is a cubit and a handbreadth, and the centre is a cubit, and a cubit the breadth; and its border on its edge round about is one span, and this is the upper part of the altar.
