και ειπεν βαλτασαρ και ενεδυσαν τον δανιηλ πορφυραν και τον μανιακην τον χρυσουν περιεθηκαν περι τον τραχηλον αυτου και εκηρυξεν περι αυτου ειναι αυτον αρχοντα τριτον εν τη βασιλεια

Then these men said, “We won’t find any occasion against this Daniel, unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.”

Then these presidents and local governors assembled together to the king, and said this to him, “King Darius, live forever!

Daniel 6:6 Or, came tumultously

^[6:7] τοτε οι τακτικοι και οι σατραπαι παρεστησαν τω βασιλει και ειπαν αυτω δαρειε βασιλευ εις τους αιωνας ζηθι

Then they came near, and spoke before the king concerning the king’s decree: “Haven’t you signed a decree that every man who makes a petition to any god or man within thirty days, except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?” The king answered, “This thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which doesn’t alter.”

^[6:13] και προσελθοντες λεγουσιν τω βασιλει βασιλευ ουχ ορισμον εταξας οπως πας ανθρωπος ος αν αιτηση παρα παντος θεου και ανθρωπου αιτημα εως ημερων τριακοντα αλλ η παρα σου βασιλευ εμβληθησεται εις τον λακκον των λεοντων και ειπεν ο βασιλευς αληθινος ο λογος και το δογμα μηδων και περσων ου παρελευσεται

Then they answered and said before the king, “That Daniel, who is of the children of the captivity of Judah, doesn’t respect you, O king, nor the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day.”

^[6:14] τοτε απεκριθησαν και λεγουσιν ενωπιον του βασιλεως δανιηλ ο απο των υιων της αιχμαλωσιας της ιουδαιας ουχ υπεταγη τω δογματι σου περι του ορισμου ου εταξας και καιρους τρεις της ημερας αιτει παρα του θεου αυτου τα αιτηματα αυτου

Then these men assembled together to the king, and said to the king, “Know, O king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians, that no decree nor statute which the king establishes may be changed.”

^[6:16] τοτε οι ανδρες εκεινοι λεγουσιν τω βασιλει γνωθι βασιλευ οτι δογμα μηδοις και περσαις του παν ορισμον και στασιν ην αν ο βασιλευς στηση ου δει παραλλαξαι

Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. The king spoke and said to Daniel, “Your God whom you serve continually, he will deliver you.”

Then H116 the king H4430 commanded, H560 (PealPerf) and they brought H858 (AphPerf) Daniel, H1841 and cast H7412 (PealPerf) him into the den H1358 of lions. When he came near to Daniel in the den, he cried with a troubled voice. The king spoke and said to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, is your God, whom you serve continually, able to deliver you from the lions?”

^[6:21] και εν τω εγγιζειν αυτον τω λακκω εβοησεν φωνη ισχυρα δανιηλ ο δουλος του θεου του ζωντος ο θεος σου ω συ λατρευεις ενδελεχως ει ηδυνηθη εξελεσθαι σε εκ στοματος των λεοντων

Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

^[6:24] τοτε ο βασιλευς πολυ ηγαθυνθη επ αυτω και τον δανιηλ ειπεν ανενεγκαι εκ του λακκου και ανηνεχθη δανιηλ εκ του λακκου και πασα διαφθορα ουχ ευρεθη εν αυτω οτι επιστευσεν εν τω θεω αυτου

The king commanded, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions—them, their children, and their wives; and the lions mauled them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they came to the bottom of the den.

And the king H4430 commanded, H560 (PealPerf) and they brought H858 (AphPerf) those H479 men H1400 which had accused H399 (PealPerf) H7170 Daniel, H1841 and they cast H7412 (PealPerf) them into the den H1358 of lions, H744 them, H581 their children, H1123 and their wives; H5389 and the lions H744 had the mastery H5705 H7981 (PealPerf) of them, and brake H1855 all H3606 their bones H1635 in pieces H1855 (AphPerf) or ever H3809 they came H4291 (PealPerf) at the bottom H773 of the den. ^[6:25] και ειπεν ο βασιλευς και ηγαγοσαν τους ανδρας τους διαβαλοντας τον δανιηλ και εις τον λακκον των λεοντων ενεβληθησαν αυτοι και οι υιοι αυτων και αι γυναικες αυτων και ουκ εφθασαν εις το εδαφος του λακκου εως ου εκυριευσαν αυτων οι λεοντες και παντα τα οστα αυτων ελεπτυναν

In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions of his head while on his bed. Then he wrote the dream and told the sum of the matters.

εν ετει πρωτω βαλτασαρ βασιλεως χαλδαιων δανιηλ ενυπνιον ειδεν και αι ορασεις της κεφαλης αυτου επι της κοιτης αυτου και το ενυπνιον εγραψεν

Daniel spoke and said, “I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the sky broke out on the great sea.

Daniel H1841 spake H6032 (PealPtc) and said, H560 (PealPtc) I saw H2370 (PealActPtc) H1934 (PealPerf) in my vision H2376 by H5974 night, H3916 and, behold, H718 the four H703 winds H7308 of the heaven H8065 strove H1519 (AphPtc) upon the great H7229 sea. H3221

εγω δανιηλ εθεωρουν εν οραματι μου της νυκτος και ιδου οι τεσσαρες ανεμοι του ουρανου προσεβαλλον εις την θαλασσαν την μεγαλην

“Behold, there was another animal, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth. They said this to it: ‘Arise! Devour much flesh!’

And behold H718 another H317 beast, H2423 a second, H8578 like H1821 (PealActPtc) to a bear, H1678 and it raised up H6966 (AphPerf) itself on one H2298 side,^§ H7859 and it had three H8532 ribs H5967 in the mouth H6433 of it between H997 the teeth H8128 of it: and they said H560 (PealPtc) thus H3652 unto it, Arise, H6966 (PealImpv) devour H399 (PealImpv) much H7690 flesh. Daniel 7:5 Or, it raised up one dominion

και ιδου θηριον δευτερον ομοιον αρκω και εις μερος εν εσταθη και τρια πλευρα εν τω στοματι αυτης ανα μεσον των οδοντων αυτης και ουτως ελεγον αυτη αναστηθι φαγε σαρκας πολλας

I came near to one of those who stood by, and asked him the truth concerning all this. “So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.

και προσηλθον ενι των εστηκοτων και την ακριβειαν εζητουν παρ αυτου περι παντων τουτων και ειπεν μοι την ακριβειαν και την συγκρισιν των λογων εγνωρισεν μοι

“So he said, ‘The fourth animal will be a fourth kingdom on earth, which will be different from all the kingdoms, and will devour the whole earth, and will tread it down and break it in pieces.

Thus H3652 he said, H560 (PealPerf) The fourth H7244 beast H2423 shall be H1934 (PealImpf) the fourth H7244 kingdom H4437 upon earth, H772 which shall be diverse H8133 (PealImpf) from H4481 all H3606 kingdoms, H4437 and shall devour H399 (PealImpf) the whole H3606 earth, H772 and shall tread it down, H1759 (PealImpf) and break it in pieces. και ειπεν το θηριον το τεταρτον βασιλεια τεταρτη εσται εν τη γη ητις υπερεξει πασας τας βασιλειας και καταφαγεται πασαν την γην και συμπατησει αυτην και κατακοψει
