Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying,

And Moses H4872 and Eleazar H499 the priest H3548 spake H1696 (PielImpf) with them in the plains H6160 of Moab H4124 by Jordan H3383 near Jericho, H3405 saying, H559 (QalInf)

και ελαλησεν μωυσης και ελεαζαρ ο ιερευς εν αραβωθ μωαβ επι του ιορδανου κατα ιεριχω λεγων

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

And the Lord H3068 spake H1696 (PielImpf) unto Moses, H4872 saying, H559 (QalInf)

και ελαλησεν κυριος προς μωυσην λεγων

For Yahweh had said of them, “They shall surely die in the wilderness.” There was not a man left of them, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

For the Lord H3068 had said H559 (QalPerf) of them, They shall surely H4191 (QalInf) die H4191 (QalImpf) in the wilderness. H4057 And there was not left H3498 (NiphPerf) a man H376 of them, save Caleb H3612 the son H1121 of Jephunneh, H3312 and Joshua H3091 the son H1121 of Nun. H5126

οτι ειπεν κυριος αυτοις θανατω αποθανουνται εν τη ερημω και ου κατελειφθη εξ αυτων ουδε εις πλην χαλεβ υιος ιεφοννη και ιησους ο του ναυη

They stood before Moses, before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, at the door of the Tent of Meeting, saying,

και στασαι εναντι μωυση και εναντι ελεαζαρ του ιερεως και εναντι των αρχοντων και εναντι πασης συναγωγης επι της θυρας της σκηνης του μαρτυριου λεγουσιν

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

And the Lord H3068 spake H559 (QalImpf) unto Moses, H4872 saying, H559 (QalInf)

και ελαλησεν κυριος προς μωυσην λεγων

You shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies, and has no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter.

And thou shalt speak H1696 (PielImpf) unto the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 saying, H559 (QalInf) If a man H376 die, H4191 (QalImpf) and have no son, H1121 then ye shall cause his inheritance H5159 to pass H5674 (HiphPerf) unto his daughter. H1323

και τοις υιοις ισραηλ λαλησεις λεγων ανθρωπος εαν αποθανη και υιος μη η αυτω περιθησετε την κληρονομιαν αυτου τη θυγατρι αυτου

Yahweh said to Moses, “Go up into this mountain of Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the children of Israel.

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Moses, H4872 Get thee up H5927 (QalImpv) into this mount H2022 Abarim, H5682 and see H7200 (QalImpv) the land H776 which I have given H5414 (QalPerf) unto the children H1121 of Israel. H3478

και ειπεν κυριος προς μωυσην αναβηθι εις το ορος το εν τω περαν τουτο ορος ναβαυ και ιδε την γην χανααν ην εγω διδωμι τοις υιοις ισραηλ εν κατασχεσει

Moses spoke to Yahweh, saying,

και ειπεν μωυσης προς κυριον

Yahweh said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him.

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Moses, H4872 Take H3947 (QalImpv) thee Joshua H3091 the son H1121 of Nun, H5126 a man H376 in whom is the spirit, H7307 and lay H5564 (QalPerf) thine hand H3027 upon him;

και ελαλησεν κυριος προς μωυσην λεγων λαβε προς σεαυτον τον ιησουν υιον ναυη ανθρωπον ος εχει πνευμα εν εαυτω και επιθησεις τας χειρας σου επ αυτον

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

“Command the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘See that you present my offering, my food for my offerings made by fire, as a pleasant aroma to me, in their due season.’

εντειλαι τοις υιοις ισραηλ και ερεις προς αυτους λεγων τα δωρα μου δοματα μου καρπωματα μου εις οσμην ευωδιας διατηρησετε προσφερειν εμοι εν ταις εορταις μου

You shall tell them, ‘This is the offering made by fire which you shall offer to Yahweh: male lambs a year old without defect, two day by day, for a continual burnt offering.

και ερεις προς αυτους ταυτα τα καρπωματα οσα προσαξετε κυριω αμνους ενιαυσιους αμωμους δυο την ημεραν εις ολοκαυτωσιν ενδελεχως

Moses told the children of Israel according to all that Yahweh commanded Moses.

Moses spoke to the heads of the tribes of the children of Israel, saying, “This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded.

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

Moses spoke to the people, saying, “Arm men from among you for war, that they may go against Midian, to execute Yahweh’s vengeance on Midian.

And Moses H4872 spake H1696 (PielImpf) unto the people, H5971 saying, H559 (QalInf) Arm H2502 (NiphImpv) some H582 of yourselves unto the war, H6635 and let them go against the Midianites, H4080 and avenge H5414 (QalInf) H5360 the Lord H3068 of Midian. H4080

και ελαλησεν μωυσης προς τον λαον λεγων εξοπλισατε εξ υμων ανδρας παραταξασθαι εναντι κυριου επι μαδιαν αποδουναι εκδικησιν παρα του κυριου τη μαδιαν

Moses said to them, “Have you saved all the women alive?

και ειπεν αυτοις μωυσης ινα τι εζωγρησατε παν θηλυ

Eleazar the priest said to the men of war who went to the battle, “This is the statute of the law which Yahweh has commanded Moses.

And Eleazar H499 the priest H3548 said H559 (QalImpf) unto the men H582 of war H6635 which went H935 (QalActPtc) to the battle, H4421 This is the ordinance H2708 of the law H8451 which the Lord H3068 commanded H6680 (PielPerf) Moses; H4872

και ειπεν ελεαζαρ ο ιερευς προς τους ανδρας της δυναμεως τους ερχομενους εκ της παραταξεως του πολεμου τουτο το δικαιωμα του νομου ο συνεταξεν κυριος τω μωυση

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

And the Lord H3068 spake H559 (QalImpf) unto Moses, H4872 saying, H559 (QalInf)

και ελαλησεν κυριος προς μωυσην λεγων

They said to Moses, “Your servants have taken the sum of the men of war who are under our command, and there lacks not one man of us.

and they said H559 (QalImpf) unto Moses, H4872 Thy servants H5650 have taken H5375 (QalPerf) the sum H7218 of the men H582 of war H4421 which are under our charge,^§ H3027 and there lacketh H6485 (NiphPerf) not one man H376 of us.

Then the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,

They said, “If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession. Don’t bring us over the Jordan.”

wherefore, said H559 (QalImpf) they, if we have found H4672 (QalPerf) grace H2580 in thy sight, H5869 let this land H776 be given H5414 (HophImpf) unto thy servants H5650 for a possession, H272 and bring us not over H5674 (HiphImpf) Jordan. H3383

και ελεγον ει ευρομεν χαριν ενωπιον σου δοθητω η γη αυτη τοις οικεταις σου εν κατασχεσει και μη διαβιβασης ημας τον ιορδανην

Moses said to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, “Shall your brothers go to war while you sit here?

And Moses H4872 said H559 (QalImpf) unto the children H1121 of Gad H1410 and to the children H1121 of Reuben, H7205 Shall your brethren H251 go H935 (QalImpf) to war, H4421 and shall ye sit H3427 (QalImpf) here?

και ειπεν μωυσης τοις υιοις γαδ και τοις υιοις ρουβην οι αδελφοι υμων πορευονται εις πολεμον και υμεις καθησεσθε αυτου

Yahweh’s anger burned in that day, and he swore, saying,

And the Lord’s H3068 anger H639 was kindled H2734 (QalImpf) the same time, H3117 and he sware, H7650 (NiphImpf) saying, H559 (QalInf)

και ωργισθη θυμω κυριος εν τη ημερα εκεινη και ωμοσεν λεγων

They came near to him, and said, “We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones;

And they came near H5066 (QalImpf) unto him, and said, H559 (QalImpf) We will build H1129 (QalImpf) sheepfolds H1448 H6629 here for our cattle, H4735 and cities H5892 for our little ones: H2945

και προσηλθον αυτω και ελεγον επαυλεις προβατων οικοδομησωμεν ωδε τοις κτηνεσιν ημων και πολεις ταις αποσκευαις ημων

Moses said to them: “If you will do this thing, if you will arm yourselves to go before Yahweh to the war,

And Moses H4872 said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, If ye will do H6213 (QalImpf) this thing, H1697 if ye will go armed H2502 (NiphImpf) before H6440 the Lord H3068 to war, H4421

και ειπεν προς αυτους μωυσης εαν ποιησητε κατα το ρημα τουτο εαν εξοπλισησθε εναντι κυριου εις πολεμον

The children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, “Your servants will do as my lord commands.

And the children H1121 of Gad H1410 and the children H1121 of Reuben H7205 spake H559 (QalImpf) unto Moses, H4872 saying, H559 (QalInf) Thy servants H5650 will do H6213 (QalImpf) as my lord H113 commandeth. H6680 (PielPtc)

και ειπαν οι υιοι ρουβην και οι υιοι γαδ προς μωυσην λεγοντες οι παιδες σου ποιησουσιν καθα ο κυριος ημων εντελλεται

Moses said to them, “If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every man who is armed to battle before Yahweh, and the land is subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession;

and Moses H4872 said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, If the children H1121 of Gad H1410 and the children H1121 of Reuben H7205 will pass with you over H5674 (QalImpf) Jordan, H3383 every man armed H2502 (QalPasPtc) to battle, H4421 before H6440 the Lord, H3068 and the land H776 shall be subdued H3533 (NiphPerf) before H6440 you; then ye shall give H5414 (QalPerf) them the land H776 of Gilead H1568 for a possession: H272

The children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, “As Yahweh has said to your servants, so will we do.

And the children H1121 of Gad H1410 and the children H1121 of Reuben H7205 answered, H6030 (QalImpf) saying, H559 (QalInf) As the Lord H3068 hath said H1696 (PielPerf) unto thy servants, H5650 so will we do. H6213 (QalImpf)

και απεκριθησαν οι υιοι ρουβην και οι υιοι γαδ λεγοντες οσα ο κυριος λεγει τοις θεραπουσιν αυτου ουτως ποιησομεν

Yahweh spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying,

Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, “When you pass over the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

λαλησον τοις υιοις ισραηλ και ερεις προς αυτους υμεις διαβαινετε τον ιορδανην εις γην χανααν

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

And the Lord H3068 spake H1696 (PielImpf) unto Moses, H4872 saying, H559 (QalInf)

και ελαλησεν κυριος προς μωυσην λεγων

“Command the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘When you come into the land of Canaan (this is the land that shall fall to you for an inheritance, even the land of Canaan according to its borders),

Command H6680 (PielImpv) the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 and say H559 (QalPerf) unto them, When ye come H935 (QalActPtc) into the land H776 of Canaan; H3667 (this is the land H776 that shall fall H5307 (QalImpf) unto you for an inheritance, H5159 even the land H776 of Canaan H3667 with the coasts H1367 thereof:)

εντειλαι τοις υιοις ισραηλ και ερεις προς αυτους υμεις εισπορευεσθε εις την γην χανααν αυτη εσται υμιν εις κληρονομιαν γη χανααν συν τοις οριοις αυτης

Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, “This is the land which you shall inherit by lot, which Yahweh has commanded to give to the nine tribes, and to the half-tribe;

And Moses H4872 commanded H6680 (PielImpf) the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 saying, H559 (QalInf) This is the land H776 which ye shall inherit H5157 (HithImpf) by lot, H1486 which the Lord H3068 commanded H6680 (PielPerf) to give H5414 (QalInf) unto the nine H8672 tribes, H4294 and to the half H2677 tribe: H4294

και ενετειλατο μωυσης τοις υιοις ισραηλ λεγων αυτη η γη ην κατακληρονομησετε αυτην μετα κληρου ον τροπον συνεταξεν κυριος τω μωυση δουναι αυτην ταις εννεα φυλαις και τω ημισει φυλης μανασση

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

και ελαλησεν κυριος προς μωυσην λεγων

Yahweh spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying,

και ελαλησεν κυριος προς μωυσην επι δυσμων μωαβ παρα τον ιορδανην κατα ιεριχω λεγων

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

And the Lord H3068 spake H1696 (PielImpf) unto Moses, H4872 saying, H559 (QalInf)

και ελαλησεν κυριος προς μωυσην λεγων

“Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘When you pass over the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

Speak H1696 (PielImpv) unto the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 and say H559 (QalPerf) unto them, When ye be come over H5674 (QalActPtc) Jordan H3383 into the land H776 of Canaan; H3667

λαλησον τοις υιοις ισραηλ και ερεις προς αυτους υμεις διαβαινετε τον ιορδανην εις γην χανααν

They said, “Yahweh commanded my lord to give the land for inheritance by lot to the children of Israel. My lord was commanded by Yahweh to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters.

and they said, H559 (QalImpf) The Lord H3068 commanded H6680 (PielPerf) my lord H113 to give H5414 (QalInf) the land H776 for an inheritance H5159 by lot H1486 to the children H1121 of Israel: H3478 and my lord H113 was commanded H6680 (PualPerf) by the Lord H3068 to give H5414 (QalInf) the inheritance H5159 of Zelophehad H6765 our brother H251 unto his daughters. H1323

και ειπαν τω κυριω ημων ενετειλατο κυριος αποδουναι την γην της κληρονομιας εν κληρω τοις υιοις ισραηλ και τω κυριω συνεταξεν κυριος δουναι την κληρονομιαν σαλπααδ του αδελφου ημων ταις θυγατρασιν αυτου

Moses commanded the children of Israel according to Yahweh’s word, saying, “The tribe of the sons of Joseph speak what is right.

And Moses H4872 commanded H6680 (PielImpf) the children H1121 of Israel H3478 according to the word H6310 of the Lord, H3068 saying, H559 (QalInf) The tribe H4294 of the sons H1121 of Joseph H3130 hath said H1696 (QalActPtc) well.

και ενετειλατο μωυσης τοις υιοις ισραηλ δια προσταγματος κυριου λεγων ουτως φυλη υιων ιωσηφ λεγουσιν

This is the thing which Yahweh commands concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, ‘Let them be married to whom they think best, only they shall marry into the family of the tribe of their father.

This is the thing H1697 which the Lord H3068 doth command H6680 (PielPerf) concerning the daughters H1323 of Zelophehad, H6765 saying, H559 (QalInf) Let them marry^§ H802 to whom they think H5869 best; H2896 only to the family H4940 of the tribe H4294 of their father H1 shall they marry. H802

τουτο το ρημα ο συνεταξεν κυριος ταις θυγατρασιν σαλπααδ λεγων ου αρεσκει εναντιον αυτων εστωσαν γυναικες πλην εκ του δημου του πατρος αυτων εστωσαν γυναικες

Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses began to declare this law, saying,

on this side H5676 Jordan, H3383 in the land H776 of Moab, H4124 began H2974 (HiphPerf) Moses H4872 to declare H874 (PielInf) this law, H8451 saying, H559 (QalInf)

εν τω περαν του ιορδανου εν γη μωαβ ηρξατο μωυσης διασαφησαι τον νομον τουτον λεγων

“Yahweh our God^§ spoke to us in Horeb, saying, ‘You have lived long enough at this mountain.

Deuteronomy 1:6 The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “אֱלֹהִ֑ים” (Elohim).

I spoke to you at that time, saying, “I am not able to bear you myself alone.

You answered me, and said, “The thing which you have spoken is good to do.”

και απεκριθητε μοι και ειπατε καλον το ρημα ο ελαλησας ποιησαι

I commanded your judges at that time, saying, “Hear cases between your brothers and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the foreigner who is living with him.

And I charged H6680 (PielImpf) your judges H8199 (QalActPtc) at that time, H6256 saying, H559 (QalInf) Hear H8085 (QalInf) the causes between your brethren, H251 and judge H8199 (QalPerf) righteously H6664 between every man H376 and his brother, H251 and the stranger H1616 that is with him.

και ενετειλαμην τοις κριταις υμων εν τω καιρω εκεινω λεγων διακουετε ανα μεσον των αδελφων υμων και κρινατε δικαιως ανα μεσον ανδρος και ανα μεσον αδελφου και ανα μεσον προσηλυτου αυτου

I said to you, “You have come to the hill country of the Amorites, which Yahweh our God gives to us.

And I said H559 (QalImpf) unto you, Ye are come H935 (QalPerf) unto the mountain H2022 of the Amorites, H567 which the Lord H3068 our God H430 doth give H5414 (QalActPtc) unto us.

και ειπα προς υμας ηλθατε εως του ορους του αμορραιου ο ο κυριος ο θεος ημων διδωσιν υμιν

You came near to me, everyone of you, and said, “Let’s send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring back to us word of the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come.”

And ye came near H7126 (QalImpf) unto me every one of you, and said, H559 (QalImpf) We will send H7971 (QalImpf) men H582 before H6440 us, and they shall search us out H2658 (QalImpf) the land, H776 and bring H7725 us word H1697 again H7725 (HiphImpf) by what way H1870 we must go up, H5927 (QalImpf) and into what cities H5892 we shall come. και προσηλθατε μοι παντες και ειπατε αποστειλωμεν ανδρας προτερους ημων και εφοδευσατωσαν ημιν την γην και αναγγειλατωσαν ημιν αποκρισιν την οδον δι ης αναβησομεθα εν αυτη και τας πολεις εις ας εισπορευσομεθα εις αυτας

They took some of the fruit of the land in their hands and brought it down to us, and brought us word again, and said, “It is a good land which Yahweh our God gives to us.”
