Word Picture:
In its most general use, the Hebrew word “nasa” refers to lifting objects, usually in a very physical sense. However, it often is utilized abstractly as bearing guilt, lifting up a standard, or even the Divine act of forgiving sins. Thus “nasa” can both mean “to bear” and “to forbear.”
