‘And Thou hast hearkened unto the supplications of Thy servant, and of Thy people Israel, that they pray towards this place, and Thou dost hear from the place of Thy dwelling, from the heavens, and hast hearkened, and forgiven.

then hear from heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again to the land which you gave to them and to their fathers.

Then hear H8085 (QalImpf) thou from the heavens, H8064 and forgive H5545 (QalPerf) the sin H2403 of thy people H5971 Israel, H3478 and bring them again H7725 (HiphPerf) unto the land H127 which thou gavest H5414 (QalPerf) to them and to their fathers. H1

then Thou dost hear from the heavens, and hast forgiven the sin of Thy people Israel, and caused them to turn back unto the ground that Thou hast given to them, and to their fathers.

then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk, and send rain on your land, which you have given to your people for an inheritance.

Then hear H8085 (QalImpf) thou from heaven, H8064 and forgive H5545 (QalPerf) the sin H2403 of thy servants, H5650 and of thy people H5971 Israel, H3478 when thou hast taught H3384 (HiphImpf) them the good H2896 way, H1870 wherein they should walk; H3212 (QalImpf) and send H5414 (QalPerf) rain H4306 upon thy land, H776 which thou hast given H5414 (QalPerf) unto thy people H5971 for an inheritance. then Thou dost hear in the heavens, and hast forgiven the sin of Thy servants, and of Thy people Israel, because Thou directest them unto the good way in which they walk, and hast given rain on Thy land that Thou hast given to Thy people for an inheritance.

whatever prayer and supplication is made by any man, or by all your people Israel, who will each know his own plague and his own sorrow, and shall spread out his hands toward this house,

[Then] what prayer H8605 [or] what supplication H8467 soever shall be made of any man, H120 or of all thy people H5971 Israel, H3478 when every one H376 shall know H3045 (QalImpf) his own sore H5061 and his own grief, H4341 and shall spread forth H6566 (QalPerf) his hands H3709 in this house: H1004

any prayer, any supplication that is for any man, and for all Thy people Israel, when they know each his own plague, and his own pain, and he hath spread out his hands towards this house:

then hear from heaven your dwelling place and forgive, and render to every man according to all his ways, whose heart you know (for you, even you only, know the hearts of the children of men),

then Thou dost hear from the heavens, the settled place of Thy dwelling, and hast forgiven, and hast given to each according to all his ways (because Thou knowest his heart, for Thou-Thou only-hast known the heart of the sons of men),

that they may fear you, to walk in your ways as long as they live in the land which you gave to our fathers.

That they may fear H3372 (QalImpf) thee, to walk H3212 (QalInf) in thy ways, H1870 so long as H3117 they live H2416 H6440 in the land H127 which thou gavest H5414 (QalPerf) unto our fathers. H1

so that they fear Thee, to walk in Thy ways, all the days that they are living on the face of the ground that Thou hast given to our fathers.

“Moreover, concerning the foreigner, who is not of your people Israel, when he comes from a far country for your great name’s sake and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm, when they come and pray toward this house,

Moreover concerning the stranger, H5237 which is not of thy people H5971 Israel, H3478 but is come H935 (QalPerf) from a far H7350 country H776 for thy great H1419 name’s H8034 sake, and thy mighty H2389 hand, H3027 and thy stretched out H5186 (QalPasPtc) arm; H2220 if they come H935 (QalPerf) and pray H6419 (HithPerf) in this house; H1004

‘And also, unto the stranger who is not of Thy people Israel, and he hath come from a land afar off for the sake of Thy great name, and Thy strong hand, and Thy stretched-out arm, and they have come in and prayed towards this house:

then hear from heaven, even from your dwelling place, and do according to all that the foreigner calls to you for; that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by your name.

Then hear H8085 (QalImpf) thou from the heavens, H8064 [even] from thy dwelling H3427 (QalInf) place, H4349 and do H6213 (QalPerf) according to all that the stranger H5237 calleth H7121 (QalImpf) to thee for; that all people H5971 of the earth H776 may know H3045 (QalImpf) thy name, H8034 and fear H3372 (QalInf) thee, as [doth] thy people H5971 Israel, H3478 and may know H3045 (QalInf) that this house H1004 which I have built H1129 (QalPerf) is called H7121 (NiphPerf) by thy name. H8034

then Thou dost hear from the heavens, from the settled place of Thy dwelling, and hast done according to all that the stranger calleth unto Thee for: so that all the peoples of the earth do know Thy name, so as to fear Thee, as Thy people Israel, and to know that Thy name is called on this house that I have built.

“If your people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatever way you send them, and they pray to you toward this city which you have chosen, and the house which I have built for your name;

If thy people H5971 go out H3318 (QalImpf) to war H4421 against their enemies H341 (QalActPtc) by the way H1870 that thou shalt send H7971 (QalImpf) them, and they pray H6419 (HithPerf) unto thee toward H1870 this city H5892 which thou hast chosen, H977 (QalPerf) and the house H1004 which I have built H1129 (QalPerf) for thy name; H8034

‘When Thy people doth go out to battle against its enemies in the way that Thou dost send them, and they have prayed unto Thee the way of this city that Thou hast fixed on, and the house that I have built for Thy name:

“If they sin against you (for there is no man who doesn’t sin), and you are angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive to a land far off or near;

If they sin H2398 (QalImpf) against thee, (for [there is] no man H120 which sinneth H2398 (QalImpf) not,) and thou be angry H599 (QalPerf) with them, and deliver H5414 (QalPerf) them over before H6440 [their] enemies, H341 (QalActPtc) and they carry them away H7617 (QalPerf) captives H7617 (QalActPtc) unto a land H776 far off H7350 or near; H7138

‘When they sin against Thee-for there is not a man who sinneth not-and Thou hast been angry with them, and hast given them before an enemy, and taken them captive have their captors, unto a land far off or near;

yet if they come to their senses in the land where they are carried captive, and turn again, and make supplication to you in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned, we have done perversely, and have dealt wickedly;’

Yet [if] they bethink H7725 (HiphPerf) H3824 themselves in the land H776 whither they are carried captive, H7617 (NiphPerf) and turn H7725 (QalPerf) and pray H2603 (HithPerf) unto thee in the land H776 of their captivity, H7628 saying, H559 (QalInf) We have sinned, H2398 (QalPerf) we have done amiss, H5753 (HiphPerf) and have dealt wickedly; H7561 (QalPerf)

and they have turned it back unto their heart in the land whither they have been taken captive, and have turned back, and made supplication unto Thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done perversely, and have done wickedly;

if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have been taken captive, and pray toward their land which you gave to their fathers, and the city which you have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for your name;

If they return H7725 (QalPerf) to thee with all their heart H3820 and with all their soul H5315 in the land H776 of their captivity, H7628 whither they have carried them captives, H7617 (QalPerf) and pray H6419 (HithPerf) toward H1870 their land, H776 which thou gavest H5414 (QalPerf) unto their fathers, H1 and [toward] the city H5892 which thou hast chosen, H977 (QalPerf) and toward the house H1004 which I have built H1129 (QalPerf) for thy name: H8034

yea, they have turned back unto Thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their captivity, whither they have taken them captive, and they have prayed the way of their land that Thou hast given to their fathers, and of the city that Thou hast chosen, and of the house that I have built for Thy name:

then hear from heaven, even from your dwelling place, their prayer and their petitions, and maintain their cause, and forgive your people who have sinned against you.

Then hear H8085 (QalPerf) thou from the heavens, H8064 [even] from thy dwelling H3427 (QalInf) place, H4349 their prayer H8605 and their supplications, H8467 and maintain H6213 (QalPerf) their cause, H4941 and forgive H5545 (QalPerf) thy people H5971 which have sinned H2398 (QalPerf) against thee.

then Thou hast heard from the heavens, from the settled place of Thy dwelling, their prayer and their supplications, and hast maintained their cause, and forgiven Thy people who have sinned against Thee.

The priests stood, according to their positions; the Levites also with instruments of music of Yahweh, which David the king had made to give thanks to Yahweh, when David praised by their ministry, saying “For his loving kindness endures forever.” The priests sounded trumpets before them; and all Israel stood.

And the priests H3548 waited H5975 (QalActPtc) on their offices: H4931 the Levites H3881 also with instruments H3627 of musick H7892 of the Lord, H3068 which David H1732 the king H4428 had made H6213 (QalPerf) to praise H3034 (HiphInf) the Lord, H3068 because his mercy H2617 [endureth] for ever, H5769 when David H1732 praised H1984 (PielInf) by their ministry; H3027 and the priests H3548 sounded trumpets H2690 (HiphPtc) (Qere) H2690 (PielPtc) before them, and all Israel H3478 stood. H5975 (QalActPtc)

And the priests over their charges are standing, and the Levites with instruments of the song of Jehovah-that David the king made, to give thanks to Jehovah, for to the age is His kindness, in David’s praising by their hand-and the priests are blowing trumpets over-against them, and all Israel are standing.

Moreover Solomon made the middle of the court that was before Yahweh’s house holy; for there he offered the burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offering, the meal offering, and the fat.

Moreover Solomon H8010 hallowed H6942 (PielImpf) the middle H8432 of the court H2691 that [was] before H6440 the house H1004 of the Lord: H3068 for there he offered H6213 (QalPerf) burnt offerings, H5930 and the fat H2459 of the peace offerings, H8002 because the brasen H5178 altar H4196 which Solomon H8010 had made H6213 (QalPerf) was not able H3201 (QalPerf) to receive H3557 (HiphInf) the burnt offerings, H5930 and the meat offerings, H4503 and the fat. H2459

And Solomon sanctifieth the middle of the court that is before the house of Jehovah, for he hath made there the burnt-offerings, and the fat of the peace-offerings: for the altar of brass that Solomon made hath not been able to contain the burnt-offering, and the present, and the fat.

if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

If my people, H5971 which are called H7121 (NiphPerf) by my name, H8034 shall humble H3665 (NiphImpf) themselves, and pray, H6419 (HithImpf) and seek H1245 (PielImpf) my face, H6440 and turn H7725 (QalImpf) from their wicked H7451 ways; H1870 then will I hear H8085 (QalImpf) from heaven, H8064 and will forgive H5545 (QalImpf) their sin, H2403 and will heal H7495 (QalImpf) their land. H776

and My people on whom My name is called be humbled, and pray, and seek My face, and turn back from their evil ways, then I-I hear from the heavens, and forgive their sin, and heal their land.

But if you turn away and forsake my statutes and my commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them,

But if ye turn away, H7725 (QalImpf) and forsake H5800 (QalPerf) my statutes H2708 and my commandments, H4687 which I have set H5414 (QalPerf) before H6440 you, and shall go H1980 (QalPerf) and serve H5647 (QalPerf) other H312 gods, H430 and worship H7812 (HithPerf) them;

and if ye turn back-ye-and have forsaken My statutes, and My commands, that I have placed before you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them-then I have plucked them from off My ground that I have given to them,

then I will pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have made holy for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

Then will I pluck them up by the roots H5428 (QalPerf) out of my land H127 which I have given H5414 (QalPerf) them; and this house, H1004 which I have sanctified H6942 (HiphPerf) for my name, H8034 will I cast out H7993 (HiphImpf) of my sight, H6440 and will make H5414 (QalImpf) it [to be] a proverb H4912 and a byword H8148 among all nations. H5971

and this house that I have sanctified for My name, I cast from before My face, and make it for a proverb, and for a byword, among all the peoples.

This house, which is so high, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say, ‘Why has Yahweh done this to this land and to this house?’

And this house, H1004 which is high, H5945 shall be an astonishment H8074 (QalImpf) to every one that passeth H5674 (QalActPtc) by it; so that he shall say, H559 (QalPerf) Why hath the Lord H3068 done H6213 (QalPerf) thus unto this land, H776 and unto this house? H1004

‘And this house that hath been high, to every one passing by it, is an astonishment, and he hath said, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus to this land, and to this house?

They shall answer, ‘Because they abandoned Yahweh, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and took other gods, worshiped them, and served them. Therefore he has brought all this evil on them.’ ”

And it shall be answered, H559 (QalPerf) Because they forsook H5800 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 God H430 of their fathers, H1 which brought them forth H3318 (HiphPerf) out of the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 and laid hold H2388 (HiphImpf) on other H312 gods, H430 and worshipped H7812 (HithImpf) them, and served H5647 (QalImpf) them: therefore hath he brought H935 (HiphPerf) all this evil H7451 upon them.

and they have said, Because that they have forsaken Jehovah, God of their fathers, who brought them out from the land of Egypt, and lay hold on other gods, and bow themselves to them, and serve them, therefore He hath brought upon them all this evil.’

At the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built Yahweh’s house and his own house,

And it came to pass at the end H7093 of twenty H6242 years, H8141 wherein Solomon H8010 had built H1129 (QalPerf) the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and his own house, H1004

And it cometh to pass, at the end of twenty years, that Solomon hath built the house of Jehovah, and his own house.

Solomon built the cities which Huram had given to Solomon, and caused the children of Israel to dwell there.

That the cities H5892 which Huram H2361 had restored H5414 (QalPerf) to Solomon, H8010 Solomon H8010 built H1129 (QalPerf) them, and caused the children H1121 of Israel H3478 to dwell H3427 (HiphImpf) there.

As to the cities that Huram hath given to Solomon, Solomon hath built them, and there he causeth the sons of Israel to dwell.

He built Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the storage cities, which he built in Hamath.

And he built H1129 (QalImpf) Tadmor H8412 in the wilderness, H4057 and all the store H4543 cities, H5892 which he built H1129 (QalPerf) in Hamath. H2574

and he buildeth Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the cities of store that he hath built in Hamath.

As for all the people who were left of the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of Israel—

[As for] all the people H5971 [that were] left H3498 (NiphPtc) of the Hittites, H2850 and the Amorites, H567 and the Perizzites, H6522 and the Hivites, H2340 and the Jebusites, H2983 which [were] not of Israel, H3478

All the people who are left of the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, who are not of Israel-

of their children who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel didn’t consume—of them Solomon conscripted forced labor to this day.

[But] of their children, H1121 who were left H3498 (NiphPerf) after H310 them in the land, H776 whom the children H1121 of Israel H3478 consumed H3615 (PielPerf) not, them did Solomon H8010 make to pay H5927 (HiphImpf) tribute H4522 until this day. H3117

of their sons who have been left after them in the land, whom the sons of Israel consumed not-doth Solomon lift up a tribute unto this day.

Solomon brought up Pharaoh’s daughter out of David’s city to the house that he had built for her; for he said, “My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places where Yahweh’s ark has come are holy.”

And Solomon H8010 brought up H5927 (HiphPerf) the daughter H1323 of Pharaoh H6547 out of the city H5892 of David H1732 unto the house H1004 that he had built H1129 (QalPerf) for her: for he said, H559 (QalPerf) My wife H802 shall not dwell H3427 (QalImpf) in the house H1004 of David H1732 king H4428 of Israel, H3478 because [the places are] holy, H6944 whereunto the ark H727 of the Lord H3068 hath come. H935 (QalPerf)

And the daughter of Pharaoh hath Solomon brought up from the city of David to the house that he built for her, for he said, ‘My wife doth not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, for they are holy unto whom hath come the ark of Jehovah.’

Then Solomon offered burnt offerings to Yahweh on Yahweh’s altar which he had built before the porch,

Then Solomon H8010 offered H5927 (HiphPerf) burnt offerings H5930 unto the Lord H3068 on the altar H4196 of the Lord, H3068 which he had built H1129 (QalPerf) before H6440 the porch, H197

Then hath Solomon caused to ascend burnt-offerings to Jehovah on the altar of Jehovah that he built before the porch,

Solomon answered all her questions. There wasn’t anything hidden from Solomon which he didn’t tell her.

And Solomon H8010 told H5046 (HiphImpf) her all her questions: H1697 and there was nothing hid H5956 (NiphPerf) from Solomon H8010 which he told H5046 (HiphPerf) her not.

and Solomon declareth to her all her matters, and there hath not been hid a thing from Solomon that he hath not declared to her.

When the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built,

And when the queen H4436 of Sheba H7614 had seen H7200 (QalImpf) the wisdom H2451 of Solomon, H8010 and the house H1004 that he had built, H1129 (QalPerf)

And the queen of Sheba seeth the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he hath built,

the food of his table, the seating of his servants, the attendance of his ministers, their clothing, his cup bearers and their clothing, and his ascent by which he went up to Yahweh’s house, there was no more spirit in her.^§

and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the standing of his ministers, and their clothing, and his stewards, and their clothing, an his burnt-offering that he offered up in the house of Jehovah, and there hath not been any more spirit in her.

She said to the king, “It was a true report that I heard in my own land of your acts and of your wisdom.

And she said H559 (QalImpf) to the king, H4428 [It was] a true H571 report H1697 which I heard H8085 (QalPerf) in mine own land H776 of thine acts, H1697 and of thy wisdom: H2451

And she saith unto the king, ‘True is the word that I heard in my land concerning thy matters and concerning thy wisdom,

However I didn’t believe their words until I came, and my eyes had seen it; and behold half of the greatness of your wisdom wasn’t told me. You exceed the fame that I heard!

Howbeit I believed H539 (HiphPerf) not their words, H1697 until I came, H935 (QalPerf) and mine eyes H5869 had seen H7200 (QalImpf) [it]: and, behold, the one half H2677 of the greatness H4768 of thy wisdom H2451 was not told H5046 (HophPerf) me: [for] thou exceedest H3254 (QalPerf) the fame H8052 that I heard. H8085 (QalPerf)

and I have given no credence to their words, till that I have come, and mine eyes see, and lo, there hath not been declared to me the half of the abundance of thy wisdom-thou hast added unto the report that I heard.

Blessed be Yahweh your God, who delighted in you and set you on his throne to be king for Yahweh your God, because your God loved Israel, to establish them forever. Therefore he made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness.”

Blessed H1288 (QalPasPtc) be the Lord H3068 thy God, H430 which delighted H2654 (QalPerf) in thee to set H5414 (QalInf) thee on his throne, H3678 [to be] king H4428 for the Lord H3068 thy God: H430 because thy God H430 loved H160 Israel, H3478 to establish H5975 (HiphInf) them for ever, H5769 therefore made H5414 (QalImpf) he thee king H4428 over them, to do H6213 (QalInf) judgment H4941 and justice. H6666

Let Jehovah thy God be blessed who hath delighted in thee, to put thee on His throne for king for Jehovah thy God; in the love of thy God to Israel, to establish it to the age, He hath put thee over them for king, to do judgment and righteousness.’

She gave the king one hundred and twenty talents° of gold, spices in great abundance, and precious stones. There was never before such spice as the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

And she gave H5414 (QalImpf) the king H4428 an hundred H3967 and twenty H6242 talents H3603 of gold, H2091 and of spices H1314 great H3966 abundance, H7230 and precious H3368 stones: H68 neither was there any such spice H1314 as the queen H4436 of Sheba H7614 gave H5414 (QalPerf) king H4428 Solomon. And she giveth to the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices in great abundance, and precious stone; and there hath not been any such spice as the queen of Sheba hath given to king Solomon.

The servants of Huram and the servants of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, also brought algum trees° and precious stones.

And also, servants of Huram, and servants of Solomon, who brought in gold from Ophir, have brought in algum-trees and precious stone.

King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, more than that which she had brought to the king. So she turned and went to her own land, she and her servants.

And king H4428 Solomon H8010 gave H5414 (QalPerf) to the queen H4436 of Sheba H7614 all her desire, H2656 whatsoever she asked, H7592 (QalPerf) beside [that] which she had brought H935 (HiphPerf) unto the king. H4428 So she turned, H2015 (QalImpf) and went away H3212 (QalImpf) to her own land, H776 she and her servants. H5650

And king Solomon hath given to the queen of Sheba all her desire that she asked, apart from that which she had brought unto the king, and she turneth and goeth to her land, she and her servants.

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred sixty-six talents° of gold,

And the weight of the gold that is coming to Solomon in one year is six hundred and sixty and six talents of gold,

All the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

And all the kings H4428 of the earth H776 sought H1245 (PielPtc) the presence H6440 of Solomon, H8010 to hear H8085 (QalInf) his wisdom, H2451 that God H430 had put H5414 (QalPerf) in his heart. H3820

and all the kings of the earth are seeking the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom that God hath put in his heart,

When Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was in Egypt, where he had fled from the presence of King Solomon), Jeroboam returned out of Egypt.

And it came to pass, when Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat, H5028 who [was] in Egypt, H4714 whither he had fled H1272 (QalPerf) from the presence H6440 of Solomon H8010 the king, H4428 heard H8085 (QalInf) [it], that Jeroboam H3379 returned H7725 (QalImpf) out of Egypt. H4714

And it cometh to pass, at Jeroboam son of Nebat’s-who is in Egypt because he hath fled from the face of Solomon the king-hearing, that Jeroboam turneth back out of Egypt;

“Your father made our yoke grievous. Now therefore make the grievous service of your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, lighter, and we will serve you.”

Thy father H1 made our yoke H5923 grievous: H7185 (HiphPerf) now therefore ease H7043 (HiphImpv) thou somewhat the grievous H7186 servitude H5656 of thy father, H1 and his heavy H3515 yoke H5923 that he put H5414 (QalPerf) upon us, and we will serve H5647 (QalImpf) thee.

‘Thy father made our yoke sharp, and now, make light somewhat of the sharp service of thy father, and of his heavy yoke that he put upon us, and we serve thee.’

King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, “What counsel do you give me about how to answer these people?”

And king Rehoboam consulteth with the aged men who have been standing before Solomon his father in his being alive, saying, ‘How are ye counselling to answer this people?’

But he abandoned the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.

But he forsook H5800 (QalImpf) the counsel H6098 which the old men H2205 gave H3289 (QalPerf) him, and took counsel H3289 (NiphImpf) with the young men H3206 that were brought up H1431 (QalPerf) with him, that stood H5975 (QalActPtc) before H6440 him.

And he forsaketh the counsel of the aged men that they counselled him, and consulteth with the lads who have grown up with him, those standing before him,

He said to them, “What counsel do you give, that we may give an answer to these people, who have spoken to me, saying, ‘Make the yoke that your father put on us lighter’?”

And he said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, What advice H3289 (NiphPtc) give ye that we may return H7725 (HiphImpf) answer H1697 to this people, H5971 which have spoken H1696 (PielPerf) to me, saying, H559 (QalInf) Ease H7043 (HiphImpv) somewhat the yoke H5923 that thy father H1 did put H5414 (QalPerf) upon us?

and he saith unto them, ‘What are ye counselling, and we answer this people that have spoken unto me, saying, Make light somewhat of the yoke that thy father put upon us?’

The young men who had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, “Thus you shall tell the people who spoke to you, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it lighter on us;’ thus you shall say to them, ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist.

And the young men H3206 that were brought up H1431 (QalPerf) with him spake H1696 (PielImpf) unto him, saying, H559 (QalInf) Thus shalt thou answer H559 (QalImpf) the people H5971 that spake H1696 (PielPerf) unto thee, saying, H559 (QalInf) Thy father H1 made H3513 our yoke H5923 heavy, H3513 (HiphPerf) but make thou [it] somewhat lighter H7043 (HiphImpv) for us; thus shalt thou say H559 (QalImpf) unto them, My little H6995 [finger] shall be thicker H5666 (QalPerf) than my father’s H1 loins. And the lads who have grown up with him, speak with him, saying, ‘Thus dost thou say to the people who have spoken unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, and thou, make light somewhat of our yoke; thus dost thou say unto them, My little finger is thicker than the loins of my father;

So the king didn’t listen to the people; for it was brought about by God, that Yahweh might establish his word, which he spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

So the king H4428 hearkened H8085 (QalPerf) not unto the people: H5971 for the cause H5252 was of God, H430 that the Lord H3068 might perform H6965 (HiphInf) his word, H1697 which he spake H1696 (PielPerf) by the hand H3027 of Ahijah H281 the Shilonite H7888 to Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat. H5028

And the king hath not hearkened unto the people, for the revolution hath been from God, for the sake of Jehovah’s establishing His word that He spake by the hand of Abijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam son of Nebat.

Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was over the men subject to forced labor; and the children of Israel stoned him to death with stones. King Rehoboam hurried to get himself up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

Then king H4428 Rehoboam H7346 sent H7971 (QalImpf) Hadoram H1913 that [was] over the tribute; H4522 and the children H1121 of Israel H3478 stoned H7275 (QalImpf) him with stones, H68 that he died. And king Rehoboam sendeth Hadoram, who is over the tribute, and the sons of Israel cast at him stones, and he dieth; and king Rehoboam hath strengthened himself to go up into a chariot to flee to Jerusalem;

Zorah, Aijalon, and Hebron, which are fortified cities in Judah and in Benjamin.

and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, that are in Judah and in Benjamin, cities of bulwarks.

The priests and the Levites who were in all Israel stood with him out of all their territory.

And the priests H3548 and the Levites H3881 that [were] in all Israel H3478 resorted H3320 (HithPerf) to him out of all their coasts. H1366

And the priests, and the Levites, that are in all Israel, have stationed themselves by him, out of all their border,

He himself appointed priests for the high places, for the male goat and calf idols which he had made.

And he ordained H5975 (HiphImpf) him priests H3548 for the high places, H1116 and for the devils, H8163 and for the calves H5695 which he had made. H6213 (QalPerf)

and he establisheth to him priests for high places, and for goats, and for calves, that he made-

with twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen. The people were without number who came with him out of Egypt: the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians.
