Strong’s Greek Lexicon

a reduplicated and contracted form of πετω peto pet’-o;( which occurs only as an alternate in certain tenses); probably akin to through the idea of alighting; to fall (literally or figuratively):—fail, fall (down), light on.

Owing to changes in the enumeration while in progress, there were no words left for numbers 2717 and 3203–3302, which were therefore silently dropped out of the vocabulary and references as redundant.
