Strong’s Greek Lexicon
apparently from πωρος poros (a kind of stone); to petrify, i.e. (figuratively) to indurate (render stupid or callous):—blind, harden.
Owing to changes in the enumeration while in progress, there were no words left for numbers 2717 and 3203–3302, which were therefore silently dropped out of the vocabulary and references as redundant.
Thayer’s Greek Definitions
1) to cover with a thick skin, to harden by covering with a callus
2) metaphorically
2a) to make the heart dull
2b) to grow hard, callous, become dull, lose the power of understanding
