Strong’s Greek Lexicon
probably strengthened from a collateral form of the base of G5134 and G5147 through the idea of corrosion or wear; or perhaps rather of a base of G5167 and G5149 through the idea of a crunching sound; to gnaw or chew, i.e. (generally) to eat:—eat.
Owing to changes in the enumeration while in progress, there were no words left for numbers 2717 and 3203–3302, which were therefore silently dropped out of the vocabulary and references as redundant.
