και ενετειλατο ο βασιλευς ασσυριων λεγων απαγετε εκειθεν και πορευεσθωσαν και κατοικειτωσαν εκει και φωτιουσιν αυτους το κριμα του θεου της γης

Now in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

Now it came to pass in the third H7969 year H8141 of Hoshea H1954 son H1121 of Elah H425 king H4428 of Israel, H3478 [that] Hezekiah H2396 the son H1121 of Ahaz H271 king H4428 of Judah H3063 began to reign. H4427 (QalPerf)

He trusted in Yahweh, the God of Israel, so that after him was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among them that were before him.

He trusted H982 (QalPerf) in the Lord H3068 God H430 of Israel; H3478 so that after H310 him was none like him among all the kings H4428 of Judah, H3063 nor [any] that were before H6440 him.

εν κυριω θεω ισραηλ ηλπισεν και μετ αυτον ουκ εγενηθη ομοιος αυτω εν βασιλευσιν ιουδα και εν τοις γενομενοις εμπροσθεν αυτου

Yahweh was with him. Wherever he went, he prospered. He rebelled against the king of Assyria, and didn’t serve him.

And the Lord H3068 was with him; [and] he prospered H7919 (HiphImpf) whithersoever he went forth: H3318 (QalImpf) and he rebelled H4775 (QalImpf) against the king H4428 of Assyria, H804 and served H5647 (QalPerf) him not.

και ην κυριος μετ αυτου εν πασιν οις εποιει συνηκεν και ηθετησεν εν τω βασιλει ασσυριων και ουκ εδουλευσεν αυτω

In the fourth year of King Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria and besieged it.

And it came to pass in the fourth H7243 year H8141 of king H4428 Hezekiah, H2396 which [was] the seventh H7637 year H8141 of Hoshea H1954 son H1121 of Elah H425 king H4428 of Israel, H3478 [that] Shalmaneser H8022 king H4428 of Assyria H804 came up H5927 (QalPerf) against Samaria, H8111 and besieged H6696 (QalImpf) it.

At the end of three years they took it. In the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

The king of Assyria carried Israel away to Assyria, and put them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes,

και απωκισεν βασιλευς ασσυριων την σαμαρειαν εις ασσυριους και εθηκεν αυτους εν αλαε και εν αβωρ ποταμω γωζαν και ορη μηδων

Now in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and took them.

και τω τεσσαρεσκαιδεκατω ετει βασιλει εζεκιου ανεβη σενναχηριμ βασιλευς ασσυριων επι τας πολεις ιουδα τας οχυρας και συνελαβεν αυτας

Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria at Lachish, saying, “I have offended you. Withdraw from me. That which you put on me, I will bear.” The king of Assyria appointed to Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents° of gold.

Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in Yahweh’s house and in the treasures of the king’s house.

At that time, Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of Yahweh’s temple, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

εν τω καιρω εκεινω συνεκοψεν εζεκιας τας θυρας ναου κυριου και τα εστηριγμενα α εχρυσωσεν εζεκιας βασιλευς ιουδα και εδωκεν αυτα βασιλει ασσυριων

The king of Assyria sent Tartan, Rabsaris, and Rabshakeh from Lachish to King Hezekiah with a great army to Jerusalem. They went up and came to Jerusalem. When they had come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.

And the king H4428 of Assyria H804 sent H7971 (QalImpf) Tartan H8661 and Rabsaris H7249 and Rabshakeh H7262 from Lachish H3923 to king H4428 Hezekiah H2396 with a great H3515 host H2426 against Jerusalem. When they had called to the king, Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder came out to them.

Rabshakeh said to them, “Say now to Hezekiah, ‘The great king, the king of Assyria, says, “What confidence is this in which you trust?

And Rabshakeh H7262 said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, Speak H559 (QalImpv) ye now to Hezekiah, H2396 Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the great H1419 king, H4428 the king H4428 of Assyria, H804 What confidence H986 [is] this wherein thou trustest? H982 (QalPerf)

και ειπεν προς αυτους ραψακης ειπατε δη προς εζεκιαν ταδε λεγει ο βασιλευς ο μεγας βασιλευς ασσυριων τις η πεποιθησις αυτη ην πεποιθας

Now, behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt. If a man leans on it, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust on him.

Now, behold, thou trustest H982 (QalPerf) upon the staff H4938 of this bruised H7533 (QalPasPtc) reed, H7070 [even] upon Egypt, H4714 on which if a man H376 lean, H5564 (NiphImpf) it will go H935 (QalPerf) into his hand, H3709 and pierce H5344 (QalPerf) it: so [is] Pharaoh H6547 king H4428 of Egypt H4714 unto all that trust H982 (QalActPtc) on him.

νυν ιδου πεποιθας σαυτω επι την ραβδον την καλαμινην την τεθλασμενην ταυτην επ αιγυπτον ος αν στηριχθη ανηρ επ αυτην και εισελευσεται εις την χειρα αυτου και τρησει αυτην ουτως φαραω βασιλευς αιγυπτου πασιν τοις πεποιθοσιν επ αυτον

Now therefore, please give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses if you are able on your part to set riders on them.

Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges H6148 (HithImpv) to my lord H113 the king H4428 of Assyria, H804 and I will deliver H5414 (QalImpf) thee two thousand H505 horses, H5483 if thou be able H3201 (QalImpf) on thy part to set H5414 (QalInf) riders H7392 (QalActPtc) upon them.

Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and spoke, saying, “Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria.

Then Rabshakeh H7262 stood H5975 (QalImpf) and cried H7121 (QalImpf) with a loud H1419 voice H6963 in the Jews’ language, H3066 and spake, H1696 (PielImpf) saying, H559 (QalImpf) Hear H8085 (QalImpv) the word H1697 of the great H1419 king, H4428 the king H4428 of Assyria: H804

και εστη ραψακης και εβοησεν φωνη μεγαλη ιουδαιστι και ελαλησεν και ειπεν ακουσατε τους λογους του μεγαλου βασιλεως ασσυριων

The king says, ‘Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you out of his hand.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the king, H4428 Let not Hezekiah H2396 deceive H5377 (HiphImpf) you: for he shall not be able H3201 (QalImpf) to deliver H5337 (HiphInf) you out of his hand: H3027

ταδε λεγει ο βασιλευς μη επαιρετω υμας εζεκιας λογοις οτι ου μη δυνηται υμας εξελεσθαι εκ χειρος μου

Don’t let Hezekiah make you trust in Yahweh, saying, “Yahweh will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”

Neither let Hezekiah H2396 make you trust H982 (HiphImpf) in the Lord, H3068 saying, H559 (QalInf) The Lord H3068 will surely H5337 (HiphInf) deliver H5337 (HiphImpf) us, and this city H5892 shall not be delivered H5414 (NiphImpf) into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Assyria. H804

και μη επελπιζετω υμας εζεκιας προς κυριον λεγων εξαιρουμενος εξελειται ημας κυριος ου μη παραδοθη η πολις αυτη εν χειρι βασιλεως ασσυριων

Don’t listen to Hezekiah.’ For the king of Assyria says, ‘Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and everyone of you eat from his own vine, and everyone from his own fig tree, and everyone drink water from his own cistern;

Hearken H8085 (QalImpf) not to Hezekiah: H2396 for thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the king H4428 of Assyria, H804 Make H6213 (QalImpv) [an agreement] with me by a present, H1293 and come out H3318 (QalImpv) to me, and [then] eat H398 (QalImpv) ye every man H376 of his own vine, H1612 and every one H376 of his fig tree, H8384 and drink H8354 (QalImpv) ye every one H376 the waters H4325 of his cistern: H953

Has any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

Hath any H376 of the gods H430 of the nations H1471 delivered H5337 (HiphPerf) at all H5337 (HiphInf) his land H776 out of the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Assyria? H804

μη ρυομενοι ερρυσαντο οι θεοι των εθνων εκαστος την εαυτου χωραν εκ χειρος βασιλεως ασσυριων

But the people stayed quiet, and answered him not a word; for the king’s commandment was, “Don’t answer him.”

But the people H5971 held their peace, H2790 (HiphPerf) and answered H6030 (QalPerf) him not a word: H1697 for the king’s H4428 commandment H4687 was, saying, H559 (QalInf) Answer H6030 (QalImpf) him not.

και εκωφευσαν και ουκ απεκριθησαν αυτω λογον οτι εντολη του βασιλεως λεγων ουκ αποκριθησεσθε αυτω

When King Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into Yahweh’s house.

And it came to pass, when king H4428 Hezekiah H2396 heard H8085 (QalInf) [it], that he rent H7167 (QalImpf) his clothes, H899 and covered H3680 (HithImpf) himself with sackcloth, H8242 and went H935 (QalImpf) into the house H1004 of the Lord. H3068

It may be Yahweh your God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to defy the living God, and will rebuke the words which Yahweh your God has heard. Therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’ ”

So the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

Isaiah said to them, “Tell your master this: ‘Yahweh says, “Don’t be afraid of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

And Isaiah H3470 said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, Thus shall ye say H559 (QalImpf) to your master, H113 Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 Be not afraid H3372 (QalImpf) of H6440 the words H1697 which thou hast heard, H8085 (QalPerf) with which the servants H5288 of the king H4428 of Assyria H804 have blasphemed H1442 (PielPerf) me.

και ειπεν αυτοις ησαιας ταδε ερειτε προς τον κυριον υμων ταδε λεγει κυριος μη φοβηθης απο των λογων ων ηκουσας ων εβλασφημησαν τα παιδαρια βασιλεως ασσυριων

So Rabshakeh returned and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah; for he had heard that he had departed from Lachish.

So Rabshakeh H7262 returned, H7725 (QalImpf) and found H4672 (QalImpf) the king H4428 of Assyria H804 warring H3898 (NiphPtc) against Libnah: H3841 for he had heard H8085 (QalPerf) that he was departed H5265 (QalPerf) from Lachish. H3923

και επεστρεψεν ραψακης και ευρεν τον βασιλεα ασσυριων πολεμουντα επι λομνα οτι ηκουσεν οτι απηρεν απο λαχις

When he heard it said of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, “Behold, he has come out to fight against you,” he sent messengers again to Hezekiah, saying,

και ηκουσεν περι θαρακα βασιλεως αιθιοπων λεγων ιδου εξηλθεν πολεμειν μετα σου και επεστρεψεν και απεστειλεν αγγελους προς εζεκιαν λεγων

“Tell Hezekiah king of Judah this: ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, Jerusalem will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

Thus shall ye speak H559 (QalImpf) to Hezekiah H2396 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 saying, H559 (QalInf) Let not thy God H430 in whom thou trustest H982 (QalActPtc) deceive H5377 (HiphImpf) thee, saying, H559 (QalInf) Jerusalem H3389 shall not be delivered H5414 (NiphImpf) into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Assyria. μη επαιρετω σε ο θεος σου εφ ω συ πεποιθας επ αυτω λεγων ου μη παραδοθη ιερουσαλημ εις χειρας βασιλεως ασσυριων

Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly. Will you be delivered?

Truly, Yahweh, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands,

οτι αληθεια κυριε ηρημωσαν βασιλεις ασσυριων τα εθνη

Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, says ‘You have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, and I have heard you.

Then Isaiah H3470 the son H1121 of Amoz H531 sent H7971 (QalImpf) to Hezekiah, H2396 saying, H559 (QalInf) Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 God H430 of Israel, H3478 [That] which thou hast prayed H6419 (HithPerf) to me against Sennacherib H5576 king H4428 of Assyria H804 I have heard. και απεστειλεν ησαιας υιος αμως προς εζεκιαν λεγων ταδε λεγει κυριος ο θεος των δυναμεων ο θεος ισραηλ α προσηυξω προς με περι σενναχηριμ βασιλεως ασσυριων ηκουσα

“Therefore Yahweh says concerning the king of Assyria, ‘He will not come to this city, nor shoot an arrow there. He will not come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 concerning the king H4428 of Assyria, H804 He shall not come H935 (QalImpf) into this city, H5892 nor shoot H3384 (HiphImpf) an arrow H2671 there, nor come before H6923 (PielImpf) it with shield, H4043 nor cast H8210 (QalImpf) a bank H5550 against it.

So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, went home, and lived at Nineveh.

So Sennacherib H5576 king H4428 of Assyria H804 departed, H5265 (QalImpf) and went H3212 (QalImpf) and returned, H7725 (QalImpf) and dwelt H3427 (QalImpf) at Nineveh. H5210

και απηρεν και επορευθη και απεστρεψεν σενναχηριμ βασιλευς ασσυριων και ωκησεν εν νινευη

I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.” ’ ”

και προσθησω επι τας ημερας σου πεντε και δεκα ετη και εκ χειρος βασιλεως ασσυριων σωσω σε και την πολιν ταυτην και υπερασπιω υπερ της πολεως ταυτης δι εμε και δια δαυιδ τον δουλον μου

‘They will take away some of your sons who will issue from you, whom you will father; and they will be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’ ”

και τα λοιπα των λογων εζεκιου και πασα η δυναστεια αυτου και οσα εποιησεν την κρηνην και τον υδραγωγον και εισηνεγκεν το υδωρ εις την πολιν ουχι ταυτα γεγραμμενα επι βιβλιω λογων των ημερων τοις βασιλευσιν ιουδα

και επεστρεψεν και ωκοδομησεν τα υψηλα α κατεσπασεν εζεκιας ο πατηρ αυτου και ανεστησεν θυσιαστηριον τη βααλ και εποιησεν αλση καθως εποιησεν αχααβ βασιλευς ισραηλ και προσεκυνησεν παση τη δυναμει του ουρανου και εδουλευσεν αυτοις

The servants of Amon conspired against him, and put the king to death in his own house.

Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, “Your servants have emptied out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hands of the workmen who have the oversight of Yahweh’s house.”

και εισηνεγκεν προς τον βασιλεα ιωσιαν και επεστρεψεν τω βασιλει ρημα και ειπεν εχωνευσαν οι δουλοι σου το αργυριον το ευρεθεν εν τω οικω κυριου και εδωκαν αυτο επι χειρα ποιουντων τα εργα των καθεσταμενων εν οικω κυριου

Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, “Hilkiah the priest has delivered a book to me.” Then Shaphan read it before the king.

και ειπεν σαφφαν ο γραμματευς προς τον βασιλεα λεγων βιβλιον εδωκεν μοι χελκιας ο ιερευς και ανεγνω αυτο σαφφαν ενωπιον του βασιλεως

When the king had heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes.
