This man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice to Yahweh^§ of Armies in Shiloh. The two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests to Yahweh, were there.

και ανεβαινεν ο ανθρωπος εξ ημερων εις ημερας εκ πολεως αυτου εξ αρμαθαιμ προσκυνειν και θυειν τω κυριω θεω σαβαωθ εις σηλω και εκει ηλι και οι δυο υιοι αυτου οφνι και φινεες ιερεις του κυριου

This will be the sign to you that will come on your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they will both die.

And this shall be a sign H226 unto thee, that shall come H935 (QalImpf) upon thy two H8147 sons, H1121 on Hophni H2652 and Phinehas; H6372 in one H259 day H3117 they shall die H4191 (QalImpf) both H8147 of them.

και τουτο σοι το σημειον ο ηξει επι τους δυο υιους σου τουτους οφνι και φινεες εν ημερα μια αποθανουνται αμφοτεροι

So the people sent to Shiloh, and they brought from there the ark of the covenant of Yahweh of Armies, who sits above the cherubim; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

So the people H5971 sent H7971 (QalImpf) to Shiloh, H7887 that they might bring H5375 (QalImpf) from thence the ark H727 of the covenant H1285 of the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 which dwelleth H3427 (QalActPtc) between the cherubims: H3742 and the two H8147 sons H1121 of Eli, H5941 Hophni H2652 and Phinehas, H6372 were there with the ark H727 of the covenant H1285 of God. και απεστειλεν ο λαος εις σηλωμ και αιρουσιν εκειθεν την κιβωτον κυριου καθημενου χερουβιμ και αμφοτεροι οι υιοι ηλι μετα της κιβωτου οφνι και φινεες

God’s ark was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.

And the ark H727 of God H430 was taken; H3947 (NiphPerf) and the two H8147 sons H1121 of Eli, H5941 Hophni H2652 and Phinehas, H6372 were slain.^§ H4191 (QalPerf)

και κιβωτος θεου ελημφθη και αμφοτεροι υιοι ηλι απεθανον οφνι και φινεες

He who brought the news answered, “Israel has fled before the Philistines, and there has been also a great slaughter among the people. Your two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and God’s ark has been captured.”

και απεκριθη το παιδαριον και ειπεν πεφευγεν ανηρ ισραηλ εκ προσωπου αλλοφυλων και εγενετο πληγη μεγαλη εν τω λαω και αμφοτεροι οι υιοι σου τεθνηκασιν και η κιβωτος του θεου ελημφθη
