Yahweh listened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.

Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who had good understanding in the service of Yahweh. So they ate throughout the feast for the seven days, offering sacrifices of peace offerings and making confession to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.

Hasn’t the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You shall worship before one altar, and you shall burn incense on it’?

Now therefore don’t let Hezekiah deceive you nor persuade you in this way. Don’t believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you out of my hand?”

His servants spoke yet more against Yahweh God and against his servant Hezekiah.

He also wrote letters insulting Yahweh, the God of Israel, and speaking against him, saying, “As the gods of the nations of the lands, which have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall the God of Hezekiah not deliver his people out of my hand.”

In those days Hezekiah was terminally ill, and he prayed to Yahweh; and he spoke to him, and gave him a sign.

This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper spring of the waters of Gihon, and brought them straight down on the west side of David’s city. Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

και τα καταλοιπα των λογων εζεκιου και το ελεος αυτου ιδου γεγραπται εν τη προφητεια ησαιου υιου αμως του προφητου και επι βιβλιου βασιλεων ιουδα και ισραηλ

Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the ascent to the tombs of the sons of David. All Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honored him at his death. Manasseh his son reigned in his place.

και απεστειλεν βασιλευς ασσυριων ραψακην εκ λαχις εις ιερουσαλημ προς τον βασιλεα εζεκιαν μετα δυναμεως πολλης και εστη εν τω υδραγωγω της κολυμβηθρας της ανω εν τη οδω του αγρου του γναφεως

Rabshakeh said to them, “Now tell Hezekiah, ‘The great king, the king of Assyria, says, “What confidence is this in which you trust?

And Rabshakeh H7262 said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, Say H559 (QalImpv) ye now to Hezekiah, H2396 Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the great H1419 king, H4428 the king H4428 of Assyria, H804 What confidence H986 is this wherein thou trustest? H982 (QalPerf)

και ειπεν αυτοις ραψακης ειπατε εζεκια ταδε λεγει ο βασιλευς ο μεγας βασιλευς ασσυριων τι πεποιθως ει

But if you tell me, ‘We trust in Yahweh our God,’ isn’t that he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar’?”

But if thou say H559 (QalImpf) to me, We trust H982 (QalPerf) in the Lord H3068 our God: H430 is it not he, whose high places H1116 and whose altars H4196 Hezekiah H2396 hath taken away, H5493 (HiphPerf) and said H559 (QalImpf) to Judah H3063 and to Jerusalem, H3389 Ye shall worship H7812 (HithImpf) before H6440 this altar? ει δε λεγετε επι κυριον τον θεον ημων πεποιθαμεν

The king says, ‘Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the king, H4428 Let not Hezekiah H2396 deceive H5377 (HiphImpf) you: for he shall not be able H3201 (QalImpf) to deliver H5337 (HiphInf) you.

ταδε λεγει ο βασιλευς μη απατατω υμας εζεκιας λογοις οι ου δυνησονται ρυσασθαι υμας

Don’t let Hezekiah make you trust in Yahweh, saying, “Yahweh will surely deliver us. This city won’t be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.” ’

Neither let Hezekiah H2396 make you trust H982 (HiphImpf) in the Lord, H3068 saying, H559 (QalInf) The Lord H3068 will surely H5337 (HiphInf) deliver H5337 (HiphImpf) us: this city H5892 shall not be delivered H5414 (NiphImpf) into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Assyria. H804

Don’t listen to Hezekiah, for the king of Assyria says, ‘Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and each of you eat from his vine, and each one from his fig tree, and each one of you drink the waters of his own cistern;

Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, “Yahweh will deliver us.” Have any of the gods of the nations delivered their lands from the hand of the king of Assyria?

μη υμας απατατω εζεκιας λεγων ο θεος υμων ρυσεται υμας μη ερρυσαντο οι θεοι των εθνων εκαστος την εαυτου χωραν εκ χειρος βασιλεως ασσυριων

Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

και εισηλθεν ελιακιμ ο του χελκιου ο οικονομος και σομνας ο γραμματευς της δυναμεως και ιωαχ ο του ασαφ ο υπομνηματογραφος προς εζεκιαν εσχισμενοι τους χιτωνας και απηγγειλαν αυτω τους λογους ραψακου

When King Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into Yahweh’s house.

And it came to pass, when king H4428 Hezekiah H2396 heard H8085 (QalInf) it, that he rent H7167 (QalImpf) his clothes, H899 and covered H3680 (HithImpf) himself with sackcloth, H8242 and went H935 (QalImpf) into the house H1004 of the Lord. H3068

και εγενετο εν τω ακουσαι τον βασιλεα εζεκιαν εσχισεν τα ιματια και σακκον περιεβαλετο και ανεβη εις τον οικον κυριου

They said to him, “Hezekiah says, ‘Today is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of rejection; for the children have come to the birth, and there is no strength to give birth.

And they said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) Hezekiah, H2396 This day H3117 is a day H3117 of trouble, H6869 and of rebuke, H8433 and of blasphemy:^§ H5007 for the children H1121 are come H935 (QalPerf) to the birth, H4866 and there is not strength H3581 to bring forth. Isaiah 37:3 Or, provocation

και ειπαν αυτω ταδε λεγει εζεκιας ημερα θλιψεως και ονειδισμου και ελεγμου και οργης η σημερον ημερα οτι ηκει η ωδιν τη τικτουση ισχυν δε ουκ εχει του τεκειν

So the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

και ηλθον οι παιδες του βασιλεως προς ησαιαν

He heard news concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, “He has come out to fight against you.” When he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

And he heard H8085 (QalImpf) say H559 (QalInf) concerning Tirhakah H8640 king H4428 of Ethiopia, H3568 He is come forth H3318 (QalPerf) to make war H3898 (NiphInf) with thee. And when he heard H8085 (QalImpf) it, he sent H7971 (QalImpf) messengers H4397 to Hezekiah, H2396 saying, H559 (QalInf)

εξηλθεν θαρακα βασιλευς αιθιοπων πολιορκησαι αυτον και ακουσας απεστρεψεν και απεστειλεν αγγελους προς εζεκιαν λεγων

“Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem won’t be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”

Thus shall ye speak H559 (QalImpf) to Hezekiah H2396 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 saying, H559 (QalInf) Let not thy God, H430 in whom thou trustest, H982 (QalActPtc) deceive H5377 (HiphImpf) thee, saying, H559 (QalInf) Jerusalem H3389 shall not be given H5414 (NiphImpf) into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Assyria. ουτως ερειτε εζεκια βασιλει της ιουδαιας μη σε απατατω ο θεος σου εφ ω πεποιθως ει επ αυτω λεγων ου μη παραδοθη ιερουσαλημ εις χειρας βασιλεως ασσυριων

Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it. Then Hezekiah went up to Yahweh’s house, and spread it before Yahweh.

And Hezekiah H2396 received H3947 (QalImpf) the letter H5612 from the hand H3027 of the messengers, H4397 and read H7121 (QalImpf) it: and Hezekiah H2396 went up H5927 (QalImpf) unto the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and spread H6566 (QalImpf) it before H6440 the Lord. H3068

και ελαβεν εζεκιας το βιβλιον παρα των αγγελων και ηνοιξεν αυτο εναντιον κυριου

Hezekiah prayed to Yahweh, saying,

And Hezekiah H2396 prayed H6419 (HithImpf) unto the Lord, H3068 saying, H559 (QalInf)

και προσευξατο εζεκιας προς κυριον λεγων
