Now these are the chiefs of the province who lived in Jerusalem; but in the cities of Judah, everyone lived in his possession in their cities—Israel, the priests, the Levites, the temple servants, and the children of Solomon’s servants.

And these are heads of the province who have dwelt in Jerusalem, and in cities of Judah, they have dwelt each in his possession in their cities; Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinim, and the sons of the servants of Solomon.

Now these are the priests and the Levites who went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,

And these are the priests and the Levites who came up with Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua; Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,

Remember me, my God, concerning this, and don’t wipe out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for its observances.

Remember H2142 (QalImpv) me, O my God, H430 concerning this, and wipe not out H4229 (HiphImpf) my good H2617 deeds that I have done H6213 (QalPerf) for the house H1004 of my God, H430 and for the offices H4929 thereof.

Be mindful of me, O my God, for this, and do not blot out my kind acts that I have done, for the house of my God, and for its charges.

in those days, when the King Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Susa the palace,

[That] in those days, H3117 when the king H4428 Ahasuerus H325 sat H3427 (QalInf) on the throne H3678 of his kingdom, H4438 which [was] in Shushan H7800 the palace, H1002

in those days, at the sitting of the king Ahasuerus on the throne of his kingdom, that is in Shushan the palace,

Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to King Ahasuerus.

Also Vashti H2060 the queen H4436 made H6213 (QalPerf) a feast H4960 for the women H802 [in] the royal H4438 house H1004 which [belonged] to king H4428 Ahasuerus. H325

Also Vashti the queen hath made a banquet for women, in the royal house that the king Ahasuerus hath.

“What shall we do to Queen Vashti according to law, because she has not done the bidding of the King Ahasuerus by the eunuchs?”

What shall we do H6213 (QalInf) unto the queen H4436 Vashti H2060 according to law, H1881 because she hath not performed H6213 (QalPerf) the commandment H3982 of the king H4428 Ahasuerus H325 by H3027 the chamberlains? H5631

‘According to law, what-to do with queen Vashti, because that she hath not done the saying of the king Ahasuerus by the hand of the eunuchs?’

Memucan answered before the king and the princes, “Vashti the queen has not done wrong to just the king, but also to all the princes, and to all the people who are in all the provinces of the King Ahasuerus.

And Memucan saith before the king and the heads, ‘Not against the king by himself hath Vashti the queen done perversely, but against all the heads, and against all the peoples that are in all provinces of the king Ahasuerus;

Today, the princesses of Persia and Media who have heard of the queen’s deed will tell all the king’s princes. This will cause much contempt and wrath.

[Likewise] shall the ladies H8282 of Persia H6539 and Media H4074 say H559 (QalImpf) this day H3117 unto all the king’s H4428 princes, H8269 which have heard H8085 (QalPerf) of the deed H1697 of the queen. H4436 Thus [shall there arise] too much H1767 contempt H963 and wrath. H7110

yea, this day do princesses of Persia and Media, who have heard the word of the queen, say so to all heads of the king, even according to the sufficiency of contempt and wrath.

When the king’s decree which he shall make is published throughout all his kingdom (for it is great), all the wives will give their husbands honor, both great and small.”

And when the king’s H4428 decree H6599 which he shall make H6213 (QalImpf) shall be published H8085 (NiphPerf) throughout all his empire, H4438 (for it is great, H7227) all the wives H802 shall give H5414 (QalImpf) to their husbands H1167 honour, H3366 both to great H1419 and small. H6996

and the sentence of the king that he maketh hath been heard in all his kingdom-for it is great-and all the wives give honour to their husbands, from great even unto small.’

After these things, when the wrath of King Ahasuerus was pacified, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.

After H310 these things, H1697 when the wrath H2534 of king H4428 Ahasuerus H325 was appeased, H7918 (QalInf) he remembered H2142 (QalPerf) Vashti, H2060 and what she had done, H6213 (QalPerf) and what was decreed H1504 (NiphPerf) against her.

After these things, at the ceasing of the fury of the king Ahasuerus, he hath remembered Vashti, and that which she did, and that which hath been decreed concerning her;

and let the maiden who pleases the king be queen instead of Vashti.” The thing pleased the king, and he did so.

and the young woman who is good in the eyes of the king doth reign instead of Vashti;’ and the thing is good in the eyes of the king, and he doth so.

who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captives who had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away.

Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, came to go in to the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s eunuch, the keeper of the women, advised. Esther obtained favor in the sight of all those who looked at her.

Now when the turn H8447 of Esther, H635 the daughter H1323 of Abihail H32 the uncle H1730 of Mordecai, H4782 who had taken H3947 (QalPerf) her for his daughter, H1323 was come H5060 (HiphInf) to go in H935 (QalInf) unto the king, H4428 she required H1245 (PielPerf) nothing H1697 but what Hegai H1896 the king’s H4428 chamberlain, H5631 the keeper H8104 (QalActPtc) of the women, H802 appointed. And in the drawing nigh of the turn of Esther-daughter of Abihail, uncle of Mordecai, whom he had taken to him for a daughter-to come in unto the king, she hath not sought a thing except that which Hegai eunuch of the king, keeper of the women, saith, and Esther is receiving grace in the eyes of all seeing her.

After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes who were with him.

After H310 these things H1697 did king H4428 Ahasuerus H325 promote H1431 (PielPerf) Haman H2001 the son H1121 of Hammedatha H4099 the Agagite, H91 and advanced H5375 (PielImpf) him, and set H7760 (QalImpf) his seat H3678 above all the princes H8269 that [were] with him.

After these things hath the king Ahasuerus exalted Haman son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and lifteth him up, and setteth his throne above all the heads who are with him,

All the king’s servants who were in the king’s gate bowed down and paid homage to Haman, for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai didn’t bow down or pay him homage.

And all the king’s H4428 servants, H5650 that [were] in the king’s H4428 gate, H8179 bowed, H3766 (QalActPtc) and reverenced H7812 (HithPtc) Haman: H2001 for the king H4428 had so commanded H6680 (PielPerf) concerning him. But Mordecai H4782 bowed H3766 (QalImpf) not, nor did [him] reverence. H7812 (HithImpf)

and all servants of the king, who are in the gate of the king, are bowing and doing obeisance to Haman, for so hath the king commanded for him; and Mordecai doth not bow nor do obeisance.

Then the king’s servants who were in the king’s gate said to Mordecai, “Why do you disobey the king’s commandment?”

Then the king’s H4428 servants, H5650 which [were] in the king’s H4428 gate, H8179 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Mordecai, H4782 Why transgressest H5674 (QalActPtc) thou the king’s H4428 commandment? H4687

And the servants of the king, who are in the gate of the king, say to Mordecai, ‘Wherefore art thou transgressing the command of the king?’

But he scorned the thought of laying hands on Mordecai alone, for they had made known to him Mordecai’s people. Therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even Mordecai’s people.

And he thought H5869 scorn H959 (QalImpf) to lay H7971 (QalInf) hands H3027 on Mordecai H4782 alone; for they had shewed H5046 (HiphPerf) him the people H5971 of Mordecai: H4782 wherefore Haman H2001 sought H1245 (PielImpf) to destroy H8045 (HiphInf) all the Jews H3064 that [were] throughout the whole kingdom H4438 of Ahasuerus, H325 [even] the people H5971 of Mordecai. and it is contemptible in his eyes to put forth a hand on Mordecai by himself, for they have declared to him the people of Mordecai, and Haman seeketh to destroy all the Jews who are in all the kingdom of Ahasuerus-the people of Mordecai.

Then the king’s scribes were called in on the first month, on the thirteenth day of the month; and all that Haman commanded was written to the king’s local governors, and to the governors who were over every province, and to the princes of every people, to every province according to its writing, and to every people in their language. It was written in the name of King Ahasuerus, and it was sealed with the king’s ring.

Then were the king’s H4428 scribes H5608 (QalActPtc) called H7121 (NiphImpf) on the thirteenth H7969 H6240 day H3117 of the first H7223 month, H2320 and there was written H3789 (NiphImpf) according to all that Haman H2001 had commanded H6680 (PielPerf) unto the king’s H4428 lieutenants, H323 and to the governors H6346 that [were] over every province, H4082 and to the rulers H8269 of every people H5971 of every province H4082 according to the writing H3791 thereof, and [to] every people H5971 after their language; H3956 in the name H8034 of king H4428 Ahasuerus H325 was it written, H3789 (NiphPtc) and sealed H2856 (NiphPerf) with the king’s H4428 ring. H2885

And scribes of the king are called, on the first month, on the thirteenth day of it, and it is written according to all that Haman hath commanded, unto lieutenants of the king, and unto the governors who are over province and province, and unto the heads of people and people, province and province, according to its writing, and people and people according to its tongue, in the name of the king Ahasuerus it hath been written and sealed with the signet of the king,

In every province, wherever the king’s commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.

And in every province, H4082 whithersoever H4725 the king’s H4428 commandment H1697 and his decree H1881 came, H5060 (HiphPtc) [there was] great H1419 mourning H60 among the Jews, H3064 and fasting, H6685 and weeping, H1065 and wailing; H4553 and many H7227 lay H3331 (HophImpf) in sackcloth H8242 and ashes. H665

And in every province and province, the place where the word of the king, even his law, is coming, a great mourning have the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and lamenting: sackcloth and ashes are spread for many.

Then Esther called for Hathach, one of the king’s eunuchs, whom he had appointed to attend her, and commanded him to go to Mordecai, to find out what this was, and why it was.

Then called H7121 (QalImpf) Esther H635 for Hatach, H2047 [one] of the king’s H4428 chamberlains, H5631 whom he had appointed H5975 (HiphPerf) to attend H6440 upon her, and gave him a commandment H6680 (PielImpf) to Mordecai, H4782 to know H3045 (QalInf) what it [was], and why it [was].

And Esther calleth to Hatach, of the eunuchs of the king, whom he hath stationed before her, and giveth him a charge for Mordecai, to know what this is, and wherefore this is.

He also gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given out in Susa to destroy them, to show it to Esther, and to declare it to her, and to urge her to go in to the king to make supplication to him, and to make request before him for her people.

Also he gave H5414 (QalPerf) him the copy H6572 of the writing H3791 of the decree H1881 that was given H5414 (NiphPerf) at Shushan H7800 to destroy H8045 (HiphInf) them, to shew H7200 (HiphInf) [it] unto Esther, H635 and to declare H5046 (HiphInf) [it] unto her, and to charge H6680 (PielInf) her that she should go in H935 (QalInf) unto the king, H4428 to make supplication H2603 (HithInf) unto him, and to make request H1245 (PielInf) before H6440 him for her people. and the copy of the writing of the law that had been given in Shushan to destroy them he hath given to him, to shew Esther, and to declare it to her, and to lay a charge on her to go in unto the king, to make supplication to him, and to seek from before him, for her people.

“All the king’s servants and the people of the king’s provinces know that whoever, whether man or woman, comes to the king into the inner court without being called, there is one law for him, that he be put to death, except those to whom the king might hold out the golden scepter, that he may live. I have not been called to come in to the king these thirty days.”

All the king’s H4428 servants, H5650 and the people H5971 of the king’s H4428 provinces, H4082 do know, H3045 (QalActPtc) that whosoever, whether man H376 or woman, H802 shall come H935 (QalImpf) unto the king H4428 into the inner H6442 court, H2691 who is not called, H7121 (NiphImpf) [there is] one H259 law H1881 of his to put [him] to death, H4191 (HiphInf) except H905 such to whom the king H4428 shall hold out H3447 (HiphImpf) the golden H2091 sceptre, H8275 that he may live: H2421 (QalPerf) but I have not been called H7121 (NiphPerf) to come in H935 (QalInf) unto the king H4428 these thirty H7970 days. ‘All servants of the king, and people of the provinces of the king, do know that any man and woman, who cometh in unto the king, unto the inner court, who is not called-one law of his is to put them to death, apart from him to whom the king holdeth out the golden sceptre, then he hath lived; and I-I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.’

“Go, gather together all the Jews who are present in Susa, and fast for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day. I and my maidens will also fast the same way. Then I will go in to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish.”

‘Go, gather all the Jews who are found in Shushan, and fast for me, and do not eat nor drink three days, by night and by day; also I and my young women do fast likewise, and so I go in unto the king, that is not according to law, and when I have perished-I have perished.’

So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.

So Mordecai H4782 went his way, H5674 (QalImpf) and did H6213 (QalImpf) according to all that Esther H635 had commanded H6680 (PielPerf) him.

And Mordecai passeth on, and doth according to all that Esther hath charged upon him.

When the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, she obtained favor in his sight; and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. So Esther came near and touched the top of the scepter.

And it was so, when the king H4428 saw H7200 (QalInf) Esther H635 the queen H4436 standing H5975 (QalActPtc) in the court, H2691 [that] she obtained H5375 (QalPerf) favour H2580 in his sight: H5869 and the king H4428 held out H3447 (HiphImpf) to Esther H635 the golden H2091 sceptre H8275 that [was] in his hand. H3027 So Esther H635 drew near, H7126 (QalImpf) and touched H5060 (QalImpf) the top H7218 of the sceptre. H8275

and it cometh to pass, at the king’s seeing Esther the queen standing in the court, she hath received grace in his eyes, and the king holdeth out to Esther the golden sceptre that is in his hand, and Esther draweth near, and toucheth the top of the sceptre.

Then the king said, “Bring Haman quickly, so that it may be done as Esther has said.” So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

Then the king H4428 said, H559 (QalImpf) Cause Haman H2001 to make haste, H4116 (PielImpv) that he may do H6213 (QalInf) as Esther H635 hath said. H1697 So the king H4428 and Haman H2001 came H935 (QalImpf) to the banquet H4960 that Esther H635 had prepared. H6213 (QalPerf)

and the king saith, ‘Haste ye Haman-to do the word of Esther;’ and the king cometh in, and Haman, unto the banquet that Esther hath made.

If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I will prepare for them, and I will do tomorrow as the king has said.”

If I have found H4672 (QalPerf) favour H2580 in the sight H5869 of the king, H4428 and if it please H2895 (QalPerf) the king H4428 to grant H5414 (QalInf) my petition, H7596 and to perform H6213 (QalInf) my request, H1246 let the king H4428 and Haman H2001 come H935 (QalImpf) to the banquet H4960 that I shall prepare H6213 (QalImpf) for them, and I will do H6213 (QalImpf) to morrow H4279 as the king H4428 hath said. H1697

if I have found grace in the eyes of the king, and if unto the king it be good, to give my petition, and to perform my request, the king doth come, and Haman, unto the banquet that I make for them, and to-morrow I do according to the word of the king.’

Haman recounted to them the glory of his riches, the multitude of his children, all the things in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

And Haman H2001 told H5608 (PielImpf) them of the glory H3519 of his riches, H6239 and the multitude H7230 of his children, H1121 and all [the things] wherein the king H4428 had promoted H1431 (PielPerf) him, and how he had advanced H5375 (PielPerf) him above the princes H8269 and servants H5650 of the king. and Haman recounteth to them the glory of his wealth, and the abundance of his sons, and all that with which the king made him great, and with which he lifted him up above the heads and servants of the king.

Haman also said, “Yes, Esther the queen let no man come in with the king to the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and tomorrow I am also invited by her together with the king.

Haman H2001 said H559 (QalImpf) moreover, Yea, Esther H635 the queen H4436 did let no man come in H935 (HiphPerf) with the king H4428 unto the banquet H4960 that she had prepared H6213 (QalPerf) but myself; and to morrow H4279 am I invited H7121 (QalPasPtc) unto her also with the king. H4428

And Haman saith, ‘Yea, Esther the queen brought none in with the king, unto the feast that she made, except myself, and also for to-morrow I am called to her, with the king,

It was found written that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs, who were doorkeepers, who had tried to lay hands on the King Ahasuerus.

And it was found H4672 (NiphImpf) written, H3789 (QalPasPtc) that Mordecai H4782 had told H5046 (HiphPerf) of Bigthana H904 and Teresh, H8657 two H8147 of the king’s H4428 chamberlains, H5631 the keepers H8104 (QalActPtc) of the door, H5592 who sought H1245 (PielPerf) to lay H7971 (QalInf) hand H3027 on the king H4428 Ahasuerus. H325

and it is found written that Mordecai had declared concerning Bigthana and Teresh, two of the eunuchs of the king, of the keepers of the threshold, who sought to put forth a hand on king Ahasuerus.

The king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had come into the outer court of the king’s house, to speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

And the king H4428 said, H559 (QalImpf) Who [is] in the court? H2691 Now Haman H2001 was come H935 (QalPerf) into the outward H2435 court H2691 of the king’s H4428 house, H1004 to speak H559 (QalInf) unto the king H4428 to hang H8518 (QalInf) Mordecai H4782 on the gallows H6086 that he had prepared H3559 (HiphPerf) for him.

And the king saith, ‘Who is in the court?’-and Haman hath come in to the outer court of the house of the king, to say to the king to hang Mordecai on the tree that he had prepared for him-

So Haman came in. The king said to him, “What shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor?” Now Haman said in his heart, “Who would the king delight to honor more than myself?”

So Haman H2001 came in. H935 (QalImpf) And the king H4428 said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, What shall be done H6213 (QalInf) unto the man H376 whom the king H4428 delighteth H2654 (QalPerf) to honour? H3366 Now Haman H2001 thought H559 (QalImpf) in his heart, H3820 To whom would the king H4428 delight H2654 (QalImpf) to do H6213 (QalInf) honour H3366 more H3148 than to myself?

And Haman cometh in, and the king saith to him, ‘What-to do with the man in whose honour the king hath delighted?’ And Haman saith in his heart, ‘To whom doth the king delight to do honour more than myself?’

Haman said to the king, “For the man whom the king delights to honor,

And Haman saith unto the king, ‘The man in whose honour the king hath delighted,

let royal clothing be brought which the king uses to wear, and the horse that the king rides on, and on the head of which a royal crown is set.

Let the royal H4438 apparel H3830 be brought H935 (HiphImpf) which the king H4428 [useth] to wear, H3847 (QalPerf) and the horse H5483 that the king H4428 rideth H7392 (QalPerf) upon, and the crown H3804 royal H4438 which is set H5414 (NiphPerf) upon his head: H7218

let them bring in royal clothing that the king hath put on himself, and a horse on which the king hath ridden, and that the royal crown be put on his head,

Let the clothing and the horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that they may array the man whom the king delights to honor with them, and have him ride on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him, ‘Thus it shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!’ ”

And let this apparel H3830 and horse H5483 be delivered H5414 (QalInf) to the hand H3027 of one H376 of the king’s H4428 most noble H6579 princes, H8269 that they may array H3847 (HiphPerf) the man H376 [withal] whom the king H4428 delighteth H2654 (QalPerf) to honour, H3366 and bring H7392 (HiphPerf) him on horseback H5483 through the street H7339 of the city, H5892 and proclaim H7121 (QalPerf) before H6440 him, Thus shall it be done H6213 (NiphImpf) to the man H376 whom the king H4428 delighteth H2654 (QalPerf) to honour. H3366

and to give the clothing and the horse into the hand of a man of the heads of the king, the chiefs, and they have clothed the man in whose honour the king hath delighted, and caused him to ride on the horse in a broad place of the city, and called before him: Thus it is done to the man in whose honour the king hath delighted.’

Then Haman took the clothing and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and had him ride through the city square, and proclaimed before him, “Thus it shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!”

Then took H3947 (QalImpf) Haman H2001 the apparel H3830 and the horse, H5483 and arrayed H3847 (HiphImpf) Mordecai, H4782 and brought him on horseback H7392 (HiphImpf) through the street H7339 of the city, H5892 and proclaimed H7121 (QalImpf) before H6440 him, Thus shall it be done H6213 (NiphImpf) unto the man H376 whom the king H4428 delighteth H2654 (QalPerf) to honour. H3366

And Haman taketh the clothing, and the horse, and clothed Mordecai, and causeth him to ride in a broad place of the city, and calleth before him, ‘Thus it is done to the man in whose honour the king hath delighted.’

Haman recounted to Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and Zeresh his wife said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of Jewish descent, you will not prevail against him, but you will surely fall before him.”

While they were yet talking with him, the king’s eunuchs came, and hurried to bring Haman to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

And while they [were] yet talking H1696 (PielPtc) with him, came H5060 (HiphPerf) the king’s H4428 chamberlains, H5631 and hasted H926 (HiphImpf) to bring H935 (HiphInf) Haman H2001 unto the banquet H4960 that Esther H635 had prepared. H6213 (QalPerf)

They are yet speaking with him, and eunuchs of the king have come, and haste to bring in Haman unto the banquet that Esther hath made.

Then King Ahasuerus said to Esther the queen, “Who is he, and where is he who dared presume in his heart to do so?”

Then the king H4428 Ahasuerus H325 answered H559 (QalImpf) and said H559 (QalImpf) unto Esther H635 the queen, H4436 Who is he, and where is he, that durst presume H4390 (QalPerf) in his heart H3820 to do H6213 (QalInf) so?

And the king Ahasuerus saith, yea, he saith to Esther the queen, ‘Who is he-this one? and where is this one?-he whose heart hath filled him to do so?’

Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman had fallen on the couch where Esther was. Then the king said, “Will he even assault the queen in front of me in the house?” As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.

And the king hath turned back out of the garden of the house unto the house of the banquet of wine, and Haman is falling on the couch on which Esther is, and the king saith, ‘Also to subdue the queen with me in the house?’ the word hath gone out from the mouth of the king, and the face of Haman they have covered.

Then Harbonah, one of the eunuchs who were with the king, said, “Behold, the gallows fifty cubits° high, which Haman has made for Mordecai, who spoke good for the king, is standing at Haman’s house.” The king said, “Hang him on it!”

Esther 7:9 A cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters.

And Harbonah, H2726 one H259 of the chamberlains, H5631 said H559 (QalImpf) before H6440 the king, H4428 Behold also, the gallows H6086 fifty H2572 cubits H520 high, H1364 which Haman H2001 had made H6213 (QalPerf) for Mordecai, H4782 who had spoken H1696 (PielPerf) good H2896 for the king, H4428 standeth H5975 (QalActPtc) in the house H1004 of Haman. And Harbonah, one of the eunuchs, saith before the king, ‘Also lo, the tree that Haman made for Mordecai, who spake good for the king, is standing in the house of Haman, in height fifty cubits;’ and the king saith, ‘Hang him upon it.’

So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king’s wrath was pacified.

And they hang Haman upon the tree that he had prepared for Mordecai, and the fury of the king hath lain down.

The king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

and the king turneth aside his signet, that he hath caused to pass away from Haman, and giveth it to Mordecai, and Esther setteth Mordecai over the house of Haman.

Esther spoke yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet and begged him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his plan that he had planned against the Jews.

And Esther addeth, and speaketh before the king, and falleth before his feet, and weepeth, and maketh supplication to him, to cause the evil of Haman the Agagite to pass away, and his device that he had devised against the Jews;

She said, “If it pleases the king, and if I have found favor in his sight, and the thing seems right to the king, and I am pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews who are in all the king’s provinces.

and saith, ‘If to the king it be good, and if I have found grace before him, and the thing hath been right before the king, and I be good in his eyes, let it be written to bring back the letters-a device of Haman son of Hammedatha the Agagite-that he wrote to destroy the Jews who are in all provinces of the king,

For how can I endure to see the evil that would come to my people? How can I endure to see the destruction of my relatives?”

Then King Ahasuerus said to Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, “See, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and they have hanged him on the gallows because he laid his hand on the Jews.

Write also to the Jews as it pleases you, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s ring; for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed with the king’s ring, may not be reversed by any man.”

and ye, write ye for the Jews, as it is good in your eyes, in the name of the king, and seal with the signet of the king-for the writing that is written in the name of the king, and sealed with the signet of the king, there is none to turn back.’

Then the king’s scribes were called at that time, in the third month, which is the month Sivan, on the twenty-third day of the month; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded to the Jews, and to the local governors, and the governors and princes of the provinces which are from India to Ethiopia, one hundred twenty-seven provinces, to every province according to its writing, and to every people in their language, and to the Jews in their writing, and in their language.

And the scribes of the king are called, at that time, in the third month-it is the month of Sivan-in the three and twentieth of it, and it is written, according to all that Mordecai hath commanded, unto the Jews, and unto the lieutenants, and the governors, and the heads of the provinces, that are from Hodu even unto Cush, seven and twenty and a hundred provinces-province and province according to its writing, and people and people according to its tongue, and unto the Jews according to their writing, and according to their tongue.

In those letters, the king granted the Jews who were in every city to gather themselves together and to defend their lives—to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish all the power of the people and province that would assault them, their little ones and women, and to plunder their possessions,

that the king hath given to the Jews who are in every city and city, to be assembled, and to stand for their life, to cut off, to slay, and to destroy the whole force of the people and province who are distressing them, infants and women, and their spoil to seize.
