Abraham came near, and said, “Will you consume the righteous with the wicked?

και εγγισας αβρααμ ειπεν μη συναπολεσης δικαιον μετα ασεβους και εσται ο δικαιος ως ο ασεβης

Yahweh said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the whole place for their sake.”

ειπεν δε κυριος εαν ευρω εν σοδομοις πεντηκοντα δικαιους εν τη πολει αφησω παντα τον τοπον δι αυτους

Abraham answered, “See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord, although I am dust and ashes.

και αποκριθεις αβρααμ ειπεν νυν ηρξαμην λαλησαι προς τον κυριον εγω δε ειμι γη και σποδος

What if there will lack five of the fifty righteous? Will you destroy all the city for lack of five?” He said, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.”

peradventure there shall lack H2637 (QalImpf) five H2568 of the fifty H2572 righteous: H6662 wilt thou destroy H7843 (HiphImpf) all the city H5892 for lack of five? H2568 And he said, H559 (QalImpf) If I find H4672 (QalImpf) there forty H705 and five, H2568 I will not destroy H7843 (HiphImpf) it.

εαν δε ελαττονωθωσιν οι πεντηκοντα δικαιοι πεντε απολεις ενεκεν των πεντε πασαν την πολιν και ειπεν ου μη απολεσω εαν ευρω εκει τεσσαρακοντα πεντε

He spoke to him yet again, and said, “What if there are forty found there?” He said, “I will not do it for the forty’s sake.”

και προσεθηκεν ετι λαλησαι προς αυτον και ειπεν εαν δε ευρεθωσιν εκει τεσσαρακοντα και ειπεν ου μη απολεσω ενεκεν των τεσσαρακοντα

He said, “Oh don’t let the Lord be angry, and I will speak. What if there are thirty found there?” He said, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.”

και ειπεν μη τι κυριε εαν λαλησω εαν δε ευρεθωσιν εκει τριακοντα και ειπεν ου μη απολεσω εαν ευρω εκει τριακοντα

He said, “See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord. What if there are twenty found there?” He said, “I will not destroy it for the twenty’s sake.”

και ειπεν επειδη εχω λαλησαι προς τον κυριον εαν δε ευρεθωσιν εκει εικοσι και ειπεν ου μη απολεσω ενεκεν των εικοσι

He said, “Oh don’t let the Lord be angry, and I will speak just once more. What if ten are found there?” He said, “I will not destroy it for the ten’s sake.”

και ειπεν μη τι κυριε εαν λαλησω ετι απαξ εαν δε ευρεθωσιν εκει δεκα και ειπεν ου μη απολεσω ενεκεν των δεκα

and he said, “See now, my lords, please come into your servant’s house, stay all night, wash your feet, and you can rise up early, and go on your way.” They said, “No, but we will stay in the street all night.”

They called to Lot, and said to him, “Where are the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may have sex with them.”

Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, “Get up! Get out of this place, for Yahweh will destroy the city!” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking.

εξηλθεν δε λωτ και ελαλησεν προς τους γαμβρους αυτου τους ειληφοτας τας θυγατερας αυτου και ειπεν αναστητε και εξελθατε εκ του τοπου τουτου οτι εκτριβει κυριος την πολιν εδοξεν δε γελοιαζειν εναντιον των γαμβρων αυτου

When the morning came, then the angels hurried Lot, saying, “Get up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city.”

Now Abimelech had not come near her. He said, “Lord, will you kill even a righteous nation?

ουκ αυτος μοι ειπεν αδελφη μου εστιν και αυτη μοι ειπεν αδελφος μου εστιν εν καθαρα καρδια και εν δικαιοσυνη χειρων εποιησα τουτο

God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also withheld you from sinning against me. Therefore I didn’t allow you to touch her.

και εκαλεσεν αβιμελεχ τον αβρααμ και ειπεν αυτω τι τουτο εποιησας ημιν μη τι ημαρτομεν εις σε οτι επηγαγες επ εμε και επι την βασιλειαν μου αμαρτιαν μεγαλην εργον ο ουδεις ποιησει πεποιηκας μοι

Abimelech said to Abraham, “What did you see, that you have done this thing?”

Abraham said, “Because I thought, ‘Surely the fear of God is not in this place. They will kill me for my wife’s sake.’

Abimelech said, “Behold, my land is before you. Dwell where it pleases you.”

και ειπεν αβιμελεχ τω αβρααμ ιδου η γη μου εναντιον σου ου εαν σοι αρεσκη κατοικει

To Sarah he said, “Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver. Behold, it is for you a covering of the eyes to all that are with you. In front of all you are vindicated.”

Yahweh visited Sarah as he had said, and Yahweh did to Sarah as he had spoken.

Sarah said, “God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears will laugh with me.”

She said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age.”

και ειπεν τις αναγγελει τω αβρααμ οτι θηλαζει παιδιον σαρρα οτι ετεκον υιον εν τω γηρει μου

Therefore she said to Abraham, “Cast out this servant and her son! For the son of this servant will not be heir with my son, Isaac.”

God said to Abraham, “Don’t let it be grievous in your sight because of the boy, and because of your servant. In all that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice. For your offspring will be named through Isaac.

ειπεν δε ο θεος τω αβρααμ μη σκληρον εστω το ρημα εναντιον σου περι του παιδιου και περι της παιδισκης παντα οσα εαν ειπη σοι σαρρα ακουε της φωνης αυτης οτι εν ισαακ κληθησεται σοι σπερμα

She went and sat down opposite him, a good way off, about a bow shot away. For she said, “Don’t let me see the death of the child.” She sat opposite him, and lifted up her voice, and wept.

απελθουσα δε εκαθητο απεναντι αυτου μακροθεν ωσει τοξου βολην ειπεν γαρ ου μη ιδω τον θανατον του παιδιου μου και εκαθισεν απεναντι αυτου αναβοησαν δε το παιδιον εκλαυσεν

God heard the voice of the boy. The angel of God called to Hagar out of the sky, and said to her, “What troubles you, Hagar? Don’t be afraid. For God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.

εισηκουσεν δε ο θεος της φωνης του παιδιου εκ του τοπου ου ην και εκαλεσεν αγγελος του θεου την αγαρ εκ του ουρανου και ειπεν αυτη τι εστιν αγαρ μη φοβου επακηκοεν γαρ ο θεος της φωνης του παιδιου σου εκ του τοπου ου εστιν

At that time, Abimelech and Phicol the captain of his army spoke to Abraham, saying, “God is with you in all that you do.

And it came to pass at that time, H6256 that Abimelech H40 and Phichol H6369 the chief captain H8269 of his host H6635 spake H559 (QalImpf) unto Abraham, H85 saying, H559 (QalInf) God H430 is with thee in all that thou doest: H6213 (QalActPtc)

εγενετο δε εν τω καιρω εκεινω και ειπεν αβιμελεχ και οχοζαθ ο νυμφαγωγος αυτου και φικολ ο αρχιστρατηγος της δυναμεως αυτου προς αβρααμ λεγων ο θεος μετα σου εν πασιν οις εαν ποιης

Abraham said, “I will swear.”

And Abraham H85 said, H559 (QalImpf) I will swear. H7650 (NiphImpf)

και ειπεν αβρααμ εγω ομουμαι

Abimelech said, “I don’t know who has done this thing. You didn’t tell me, and I didn’t hear of it until today.”

και ειπεν αυτω αβιμελεχ ουκ εγνων τις εποιησεν το πραγμα τουτο ουδε συ μοι απηγγειλας ουδε εγω ηκουσα αλλ η σημερον

Abimelech said to Abraham, “What do these seven ewe lambs, which you have set by themselves, mean?”

And Abimelech H40 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Abraham, H85 What H2008 mean these seven H7651 ewe lambs H3535 which thou hast set H5324 (HiphPerf) by themselves?

και ειπεν αβιμελεχ τω αβρααμ τι εισιν αι επτα αμναδες των προβατων τουτων ας εστησας μονας

He said, “You shall take these seven ewe lambs from my hand, that it may be a witness to me, that I have dug this well.”

And he said, H559 (QalImpf) For these seven H7651 ewe lambs H3535 shalt thou take H3947 (QalImpf) of my hand, H3027 that H5668 they may be a witness H5713 unto me, that I have digged H2658 (QalPerf) this well. H875

και ειπεν αβρααμ οτι τας επτα αμναδας ταυτας λημψη παρ εμου ινα ωσιν μοι εις μαρτυριον οτι εγω ωρυξα το φρεαρ τουτο

After these things, God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”

And it came to pass after H310 these things, H1697 that God H430 did tempt H5254 (PielPerf) Abraham, H85 and said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Abraham: H85 and he said, H559 (QalImpf) Behold, here I am.^§

Genesis 22:1 Heb. Behold me

και εγενετο μετα τα ρηματα ταυτα ο θεος επειραζεν τον αβρααμ και ειπεν προς αυτον αβρααμ αβρααμ ο δε ειπεν ιδου εγω

He said, “Now take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”

And he said, H559 (QalImpf) Take now H3947 (QalImpv) thy son, H1121 thine only H3173 son Isaac, H3327 whom thou lovest, H157 (QalPerf) and get thee H3212 (QalImpv) into the land H776 of Moriah; H4179 and offer him H5927 (HiphImpv) there for a burnt offering H5930 upon one H259 of the mountains H2022 which I will tell H559 (QalImpf) thee of.

και ειπεν λαβε τον υιον σου τον αγαπητον ον ηγαπησας τον ισαακ και πορευθητι εις την γην την υψηλην και ανενεγκον αυτον εκει εις ολοκαρπωσιν εφ εν των ορεων ων αν σοι ειπω

Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey; and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.

αναστας δε αβρααμ το πρωι επεσαξεν την ονον αυτου παρελαβεν δε μεθ εαυτου δυο παιδας και ισαακ τον υιον αυτου και σχισας ξυλα εις ολοκαρπωσιν αναστας επορευθη και ηλθεν επι τον τοπον ον ειπεν αυτω ο θεος

Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there. We will worship, and come back to you.”

και ειπεν αβρααμ τοις παισιν αυτου καθισατε αυτου μετα της ονου εγω δε και το παιδαριον διελευσομεθα εως ωδε και προσκυνησαντες αναστρεψωμεν προς υμας

Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, “My father?” He said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”

And Isaac H3327 spake H559 (QalImpf) unto Abraham H85 his father, H1 and said, H559 (QalImpf) My father: H1 and he said, H559 (QalImpf) Here am I,^§ my son. H1121 And he said, H559 (QalImpf) Behold the fire H784 and the wood: H6086 but where is the lamb^§ H7716 for a burnt offering? H5930

ειπεν δε ισαακ προς αβρααμ τον πατερα αυτου ειπας πατερ ο δε ειπεν τι εστιν τεκνον λεγων ιδου το πυρ και τα ξυλα που εστιν το προβατον το εις ολοκαρπωσιν

Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.

ειπεν δε αβρααμ ο θεος οψεται εαυτω προβατον εις ολοκαρπωσιν τεκνον πορευθεντες δε αμφοτεροι αμα

They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood.

And they came H935 (QalImpf) to the place H4725 which God H430 had told H559 (QalPerf) him of; and Abraham H85 built H1129 (QalImpf) an altar H4196 there, and laid H6186 the wood H6086 in order, H6186 (QalImpf) and bound H6123 (QalImpf) Isaac H3327 his son, H1121 and laid H7760 (QalImpf) him on the altar H4196 upon H4605 the wood. ηλθον επι τον τοπον ον ειπεν αυτω ο θεος και ωκοδομησεν εκει αβρααμ θυσιαστηριον και επεθηκεν τα ξυλα και συμποδισας ισαακ τον υιον αυτου επεθηκεν αυτον επι το θυσιαστηριον επανω των ξυλων
