They brought up Yahweh’s ark, the Tent of Meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent. The priests and the Levites brought these up.

There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets which Moses put there at Horeb, when Yahweh made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.

There is nothing in the ark, only the two tables of stone which Moses put there in Horeb, when Jehovah covenanted with the sons of Israel in their going out of the land of Egypt.

He said, “Blessed is Yahweh, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David your father, and has with his hand fulfilled it, saying,

But Yahweh said to David my father, ‘Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart.

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto David H1732 my father, H1 Whereas H3282 H834 it was in thine heart H3824 to build H1129 (QalInf) an house H1004 unto my name, H8034 thou didst well H2895 (HiphPerf) that it was in thine heart. H3824

and Jehovah saith unto David my father, Because that it hath been with thy heart to build a house for My name, thou hast done well that it hath been with thy heart;

Yahweh has established his word that he spoke; for I have risen up in the place of David my father, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as Yahweh promised, and have built the house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

‘And Jehovah doth establish His word which He spake, and I am risen up instead of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as Jehovah spake, and build the house for the name of Jehovah, God of Israel,

There I have set a place for the ark, in which is Yahweh’s covenant, which he made with our fathers when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.”

and set there a place for the ark, where is the covenant of Jehovah which He made with our fathers in His bringing them out from the land of Egypt.’

who has kept with your servant David my father that which you promised him. Yes, you spoke with your mouth, and have fulfilled it with your hand, as it is today.

Now therefore, may Yahweh, the God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father that which you have promised him, saying, ‘There shall not fail from you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your children take heed to their way, to walk before me as you have walked before me.’

‘And now, Jehovah, God of Israel, keep for Thy servant David my father that which Thou spakest to him, saying, There is not cut off to thee a man from before Me, sitting on the throne of Israel-only, if thy sons watch their way, to walk before Me as thou hast walked before Me.

“Now therefore, God of Israel, please let your word be verified, which you spoke to your servant David my father.

‘And now, O God of Israel, let it be established, I pray Thee, Thy word which Thou hast spoken to Thy servant, David my father.

But will God in very deed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens can’t contain you; how much less this house that I have built!

But will God H430 indeed H552 dwell H3427 (QalImpf) on the earth? H776 behold, the heaven H8064 and heaven H8064 of heavens H8064 cannot contain H3557 (PilpImpf) thee; how much less H637 this house H1004 that I have builded? H1129 (QalPerf)

But, is it true?-God dwelleth on the earth! lo, the heavens, and the heavens of the heavens do not contain Thee, how much less this house which I have builded!

Yet have respect for the prayer of your servant and for his supplication, Yahweh my God, to listen to the cry and to the prayer which your servant prays before you today;

Yet have thou respect H6437 (QalPerf) unto the prayer H8605 of thy servant, H5650 and to his supplication, H8467 O Lord H3068 my God, H430 to hearken H8085 (QalInf) unto the cry H7440 and to the prayer, H8605 which thy servant H5650 prayeth H6419 (HithPtc) before H6440 thee to day: H3117

‘Then thou hast turned unto the prayer of Thy servant, and unto his supplication, O Jehovah my God, to hearken unto the cry and unto the prayer which Thy servant is praying before Thee to-day,

that your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which you have said, ‘My name shall be there;’ to listen to the prayer which your servant prays toward this place.

“If a man sins against his neighbor, and an oath is laid on him to cause him to swear, and he comes and swears before your altar in this house,

“When your people Israel are struck down before the enemy because they have sinned against you, if they turn again to you and confess your name, and pray and make supplication to you in this house,

‘In Thy people Israel being smitten before an enemy, because they sin against Thee, and they have turned back unto Thee, and have confessed Thy name, and prayed, and made supplication unto Thee in this house,

then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again to the land which you gave to their fathers.

then hear in heaven, your dwelling place, and forgive, and act, and give to every man according to all his ways, whose heart you know (for you, even you only, know the hearts of all the children of men);

that they may fear you all the days that they live in the land which you gave to our fathers.

so that they fear Thee all the days that they are living on the face of the ground that Thou hast given to our fathers.

“Moreover, concerning the foreigner, who is not of your people Israel, when he comes out of a far country for your name’s sake

Moreover concerning a stranger, H5237 that [is] not of thy people H5971 Israel, H3478 but cometh out H935 (QalPerf) of a far H7350 country H776 for H4616 thy name’s H8034 sake;

‘And also, unto the stranger who is not of Thy people Israel, and hath come from a land afar off for Thy name’s sake-

hear in heaven, your dwelling place, and do according to all that the foreigner calls to you for; that all the peoples of the earth may know your name, to fear you, as do your people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by your name.

‘When Thy people doth go out to battle against its enemy, in the way that Thou dost send them, and they have prayed unto Jehovah the way of the city which thou hast fixed on, and of the house which I have builded for Thy name;

If they sin against you (for there is no man who doesn’t sin), and you are angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive to the land of the enemy, far off or near;

yet if they repent in the land where they are carried captive, and turn again, and make supplication to you in the land of those who carried them captive, saying, ‘We have sinned and have done perversely; we have dealt wickedly,’

if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who carried them captive, and pray to you toward their land which you gave to their fathers, the city which you have chosen and the house which I have built for your name,

And [so] return H7725 (QalPerf) unto thee with all their heart, H3824 and with all their soul, H5315 in the land H776 of their enemies, H341 (QalActPtc) which led them away captive, H7617 (QalPerf) and pray H6419 (HithPerf) unto thee toward H1870 their land, H776 which thou gavest H5414 (QalPerf) unto their fathers, H1 the city H5892 which thou hast chosen, H977 (QalPerf) and the house H1004 which I have built H1129 (QalPerf) for thy name: H8034

yea, they have turned back unto Thee, with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies who have taken them captive, and have prayed unto Thee the way of their land, which Thou gavest to their fathers, the city which Thou hast chosen, and the house which I have builded for Thy name:

and forgive your people who have sinned against you, and all their transgressions in which they have transgressed against you; and give them compassion before those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them

“Blessed be Yahweh, who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised. There has not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by Moses his servant.

‘Blessed is Jehovah who hath given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He hath spoken; there hath not fallen one word of all His good word, which He spake by the hand of Moses his servant.

that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances, which he commanded our fathers.

to incline our heart unto Himself, to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commands, and His statutes, and His judgments, which He commanded our fathers;

Let these my words, with which I have made supplication before Yahweh, be near to Yahweh our God day and night, that he may maintain the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel, as every day requires;

And let these my words, H1697 wherewith I have made supplication H2603 (HithPerf) before H6440 the Lord, H3068 be nigh H7138 unto the Lord H3068 our God H430 day H3119 and night, H3915 that he maintain H6213 (QalInf) the cause H4941 of his servant, H5650 and the cause H4941 of his people H5971 Israel H3478 at all times, H3117 H3117 as the matter H1697 shall require:

and these my words with which I have made supplication before Jehovah, are near unto Jehovah our God by day and by night, to maintain the cause of His servant, and the cause of His people Israel, the matter of a day in its day;

Solomon offered for the sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered to Yahweh, twenty two thousand head of cattle and one hundred twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated Yahweh’s house.

And Solomon H8010 offered H2076 (QalImpf) a sacrifice H2077 of peace offerings, H8002 which he offered H2076 (QalPerf) unto the Lord, H3068 two H8147 and twenty H6242 thousand H505 oxen, H1241 and an hundred H3967 and twenty H6242 thousand H505 sheep. and Solomon sacrificeth the sacrifice of peace-offerings, which he hath sacrificed to Jehovah, oxen, twenty and two thousand, and sheep, a hundred and twenty thousand; and the king and all the sons of Israel dedicate the house of Jehovah.

Yahweh said to him, “I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before me. I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, I have heard H8085 (QalPerf) thy prayer H8605 and thy supplication, H8467 that thou hast made H2603 (HithPerf) before H6440 me: I have hallowed H6942 (HiphPerf) this house, H1004 which thou hast built, H1129 (QalPerf) to put H7760 (QalInf) my name H8034 there for H5704 ever; H5769 and mine eyes H5869 and mine heart H3820 shall be there perpetually. and Jehovah saith unto him, ‘I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication with which thou hast made supplication before Me; I have hallowed this house that thou hast built to put My name there-unto the age, and Mine eyes and My heart have been there all the days.

But if you turn away from following me, you or your children, and not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them,

[But] if ye shall at all H7725 (QalInf) turn H7725 (QalImpf) from following H310 me, ye or your children, H1121 and will not keep H8104 (QalImpf) my commandments H4687 [and] my statutes H2708 which I have set H5414 (QalPerf) before H6440 you, but go H1980 (QalPerf) and serve H5647 (QalPerf) other H312 gods, H430 and worship H7812 (HithPerf) them:

‘If ye at all turn back-you and your sons-from after Me, and keep not My commands-My statutes, that I have set before you, and ye have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them,

then I will cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and I will cast this house, which I have made holy for my name, out of my sight; and Israel will be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

Then will I cut off H3772 (HiphPerf) Israel H3478 out H6440 of the land H127 which I have given H5414 (QalPerf) them; and this house, H1004 which I have hallowed H6942 (HiphPerf) for my name, H8034 will I cast out H7971 (PielImpf) of my sight; H6440 and Israel H3478 shall be a proverb H4912 and a byword H8148 among all people: H5971

then I have cut off Israel from the face of the ground that I have given to them, and the house that I have hallowed for My name I send away from My presence, and Israel hath been for a simile and for a byword among all the peoples;

and they will answer, ‘Because they abandoned Yahweh their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and embraced other gods, and worshiped them, and served them. Therefore Yahweh has brought all this evil on them.’ ”

And they shall answer, H559 (QalPerf) Because they forsook H5800 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 their God, H430 who brought forth H3318 (HiphPerf) their fathers H1 out of the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 and have taken hold H2388 (HiphImpf) upon other H312 gods, H430 and have worshipped H7812 (HithImpf) them, and served H5647 (QalImpf) them: therefore hath the Lord H3068 brought H935 (HiphPerf) upon them all this evil. and they have said, Because that they have forsaken Jehovah their God, who brought out their fathers from the land of Egypt, and they lay hold on other gods, and bow themselves to them, and serve them; therefore hath Jehovah brought in upon them all this evil.’

At the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, Yahweh’s house and the king’s house

And it came to pass at the end H7097 of twenty H6242 years, H8141 when Solomon H8010 had built H1129 (QalPerf) the two H8147 houses, H1004 the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and the king’s H4428 house, H1004

And it cometh to pass, at the end of twenty years, that Solomon hath built the two houses, the house of Jehovah, and the house of the king.

Hiram came out of Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they didn’t please him.

And Hiram H2438 came out H3318 (QalImpf) from Tyre H6865 to see H7200 (QalInf) the cities H5892 which Solomon H8010 had given H5414 (QalPerf) him; and they pleased H3474 (QalPerf) H5869 him not.

And Hiram cometh out from Tyre to see the cities that Solomon hath given to him, and they have not been right in his eyes,

He said, “What cities are these which you have given me, my brother?” He called them the land of Cabul° to this day.

1 Kings 9:13 “Cabul” sounds like Hebrew for “good-for-nothing”.

And he said, H559 (QalImpf) What cities H5892 [are] these which thou hast given H5414 (QalPerf) me, my brother? H251 And he called H7121 (QalImpf) them the land H776 of Cabul H3521 unto this day. H3117

and he saith, ‘What are these cities that thou hast given to me, my brother?’ and one calleth them the land of Cabul unto this day.

This is the reason of the forced labor which King Solomon conscripted: to build Yahweh’s house, his own house, Millo, Jerusalem’s wall, Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer.

And this [is] the reason H1697 of the levy H4522 which king H4428 Solomon H8010 raised; H5927 (HiphPerf) for to build H1129 (QalInf) the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and his own house, H1004 and Millo, H4407 and the wall H2346 of Jerusalem, H3389 and Hazor, H2674 and Megiddo, H4023 and Gezer. H1507

And this is the matter of the tribute that king Solomon hath lifted up, to build the house of Jehovah, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer,

all the storage cities that Solomon had, the cities for his chariots, the cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

And all the cities H5892 of store H4543 that Solomon H8010 had, and cities H5892 for his chariots, H7393 and cities H5892 for his horsemen, H6571 and that H2837 which Solomon H8010 desired H2836 (QalPerf) to build H1129 (QalInf) in Jerusalem, H3389 and in Lebanon, H3844 and in all the land H776 of his dominion. H4475

and all the cities of stores that king Solomon hath, and the cities of the chariots, and the cities of the horsemen, and the desire of Solomon that he desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

As for all the people who were left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the children of Israel—

[And] all the people H5971 [that were] left H3498 (NiphPtc) of the Amorites, H567 Hittites, H2850 Perizzites, H6522 Hivites, H2340 and Jebusites, H2983 which [were] not of the children H1121 of Israel, H3478

The whole of the people that is left of the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, who are not of the sons of Israel-

their children who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel were not able utterly to destroy—of them Solomon raised a levy of bondservants to this day.

Their children H1121 that were left H3498 (NiphPerf) after H310 them in the land, H776 whom the children H1121 of Israel H3478 also were not able H3201 (QalPerf) utterly to destroy, H2763 (HiphInf) upon those did Solomon H8010 levy H5927 (HiphImpf) a tribute H4522 of bondservice H5647 (QalActPtc) unto this day. H3117

their sons who are left behind them in the land, whom the sons of Israel have not been able to devote-he hath even lifted up on them a tribute of service unto this day.

These were the five hundred fifty chief officers who were over Solomon’s work, who ruled over the people who labored in the work.

These [were] the chief H8269 of the officers H5324 (NiphPtc) that [were] over Solomon’s H8010 work, H4399 five H2568 hundred H3967 and fifty, H2572 which bare rule H7287 (QalActPtc) over the people H5971 that wrought H6213 (QalPerf) in the work. H4399

These are the heads of the officers who are over the work of Solomon, fifty and five hundred, those ruling among the people who are labouring in the work.

But Pharaoh’s daughter came up out of David’s city to her house which Solomon had built for her. Then he built Millo.

But Pharaoh’s H6547 daughter H1323 came up H5927 (QalPerf) out of the city H5892 of David H1732 unto her house H1004 which [Solomon] had built H1129 (QalPerf) for her: then did he build H1129 (QalPerf) Millo. H4407

Only, the daughter of Pharaoh went up out of the city of David unto her house that Solomon built for her; then he built Millo.

Solomon offered burnt offerings and peace offerings on the altar which he built to Yahweh three times per year, burning incense with them on the altar that was before Yahweh. So he finished the house.

And three H7969 times H6471 in a year H8141 did Solomon H8010 offer H5927 (HiphPerf) burnt offerings H5930 and peace offerings H8002 upon the altar H4196 which he built H1129 (QalPerf) unto the Lord, H3068 and he burnt incense H6999 (HiphInf) upon the altar H4196 that [was] before H6440 the Lord. H3068 So he finished H7999 (PielPerf) the house. H1004

And Solomon caused to ascend, three times in a year, burnt-offerings and peace-offerings on the altar that he built to Jehovah, and he perfumed it with that which is before Jehovah, and finished the house.

King Solomon made a fleet of ships in Ezion Geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.

And king H4428 Solomon H8010 made H6213 (QalPerf) a navy of ships H590 in Eziongeber, H6100 which [is] beside Eloth, H359 on the shore H8193 of the Red H5488 sea, H3220 in the land H776 of Edom. H123

And a navy hath king Solomon made in Ezion-Geber, that is beside Eloth, on the edge of the Sea of Suph, in the land of Edom.

Solomon answered all her questions. There wasn’t anything hidden from the king which he didn’t tell her.

And Solomon H8010 told H5046 (HiphImpf) her all her questions: H1697 there was not [any] thing H1697 hid H5956 (NiphPtc) from the king, H4428 which he told H5046 (HiphPerf) her not.

And Solomon declareth to her all her matters-there hath not been a thing hid from the king that he hath not declared to her.

the food of his table, the sitting of his servants, the attendance of his officials, their clothing, his cup bearers, and his ascent by which he went up to Yahweh’s house, there was no more spirit in her.

And the meat H3978 of his table, H7979 and the sitting H4186 of his servants, H5650 and the attendance H4612 of his ministers, H8334 (PielPtc) and their apparel, H4403 and his cupbearers, H8248 (HiphPtc) and his ascent H5930 by which he went up H5927 (QalImpf) unto the house H1004 of the Lord; H3068 there was no more spirit H7307 in her.

and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the standing of his ministers, and their clothing, and his butlers, and his burnt-offering that he causeth to ascend in the house of Jehovah, and there hath not been in her any more spirit.

She said to the king, “It was a true report that I heard in my own land of your acts and of your wisdom.

And she said H559 (QalImpf) to the king, H4428 It was a true H571 report H1697 that I heard H8085 (QalPerf) in mine own land H776 of thy acts H1697 and of thy wisdom. H2451

And she saith unto the king, ‘True hath been the word that I heard in my land, concerning thy matters and thy wisdom;
