This was Yahweh’s word which he spoke to Jehu, saying, “Your sons to the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.” So it came to pass.

It is the word of Jehovah that He spake unto Jehu, saying, ‘Sons of the fourth generation do sit for thee on the throne of Israel;’ and it is so.

Now the rest of the acts of Shallum, and his conspiracy which he made, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

Then Menahem attacked Tiphsah and all who were in it and its border areas, from Tirzah. He attacked it because they didn’t open their gates to him, and he ripped up all their women who were with child.

He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight. He didn’t depart all his days from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin.

And he doth the evil in the eyes of Jehovah, he hath turned not aside from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat that he caused Israel to sin, all his days.

But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and even made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom Yahweh cast out from before the children of Israel.

and he walketh in the way of the kings of Israel, and also his son he hath caused to pass over into fire, according to the abominations of the nations that Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel,

King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and King Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest a drawing of the altar and plans to build it.

And king H4428 Ahaz H271 went H3212 (QalImpf) to Damascus H1834 to meet H7125 (QalInf) Tiglathpileser H8407 king H4428 of Assyria, H804 and saw H7200 (QalImpf) an altar H4196 that [was] at Damascus: H1834 and king H4428 Ahaz H271 sent H7971 (QalImpf) to Urijah H223 the priest H3548 the fashion H1823 of the altar, H4196 and the pattern H8403 of it, according to all the workmanship H4639 thereof.

And king Ahaz goeth to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Asshur at Damascus, and seeth the altar that is in Damascus, and king Ahaz sendeth unto Urijah the priest the likeness of the altar, and its pattern, according to all its work,

The bronze altar, which was before Yahweh, he brought from the front of the house, from between his altar and Yahweh’s house, and put it on the north side of his altar.

And he brought H7126 (HiphImpf) also the brasen H5178 altar, H4196 which [was] before H6440 the Lord, H3068 from the forefront H6440 of the house, H1004 from between the altar H4196 and the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and put H5414 (QalImpf) it on the north H6828 side H3409 of the altar. H4196

As to the altar of brass that is before Jehovah-he bringeth it near from the front of the house, from between the altar and the house of Jehovah, and putteth it on the side of the altar, northward.

King Ahaz cut off the panels of the bases, and removed the basin from off them, and took down the sea from off the bronze oxen that were under it, and put it on a pavement of stone.

And king Ahaz cutteth off the borders of the bases, and turneth aside from off them the laver, and the sea he hath taken down from off the brazen oxen that are under it, and putteth it on a pavement of stones.

He removed the covered way for the Sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king’s outer entrance to Yahweh’s house, because of the king of Assyria.

And the covert H4329 (Qere) H4329 for the sabbath H7676 that they had built H1129 (QalPerf) in the house, H1004 and the king’s H4428 entry H3996 without, H2435 turned H5437 (HiphPerf) he from the house H1004 of the Lord H3068 for H6440 the king H4428 of Assyria. H804

And the covered place for the sabbath that they built in the house, and the entrance of the king without, he turned from the house of Jehovah, because of the king of Asshur.

He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, yet not as the kings of Israel who were before him.

and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, only, not as the kings of Israel who were before him;

The king of Assyria discovered a conspiracy in Hoshea; for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria seized him, and bound him in prison.

And the king of Asshur findeth in Hoshea a conspiracy, in that he hath sent messengers unto So king of Egypt, and hath not caused a present to go up to the king of Asshur, as year by year, and the king of Asshur restraineth him, and bindeth him in a house of restraint.

and walked in the statutes of the nations whom Yahweh cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they made.

The children of Israel secretly did things that were not right against Yahweh their God; and they built high places for themselves in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city;

And the children H1121 of Israel H3478 did secretly H2644 (PielImpf) [those] things H1697 that [were] not right against the Lord H3068 their God, H430 and they built H1129 (QalImpf) them high places H1116 in all their cities, H5892 from the tower H4026 of the watchmen H5341 (QalActPtc) to the fenced H4013 city. and the sons of Israel do covertly things that are not right against Jehovah their God, and build for them high places in all their cities, from a tower of the watchers unto the fenced city,

and there they burned incense in all the high places, as the nations whom Yahweh carried away before them did; and they did wicked things to provoke Yahweh to anger;

And there they burnt incense H6999 (PielImpf) in all the high places, H1116 as [did] the heathen H1471 whom the Lord H3068 carried away H1540 (HiphPerf) before H6440 them; and wrought H6213 (QalImpf) wicked H7451 things H1697 to provoke the Lord H3068 to anger: H3707 (HiphInf)

and make perfume there in all high places, like the nations that Jehovah removed from their presence, and do evil things to provoke Jehovah,

and they served idols, of which Yahweh had said to them, “You shall not do this thing.”

For they served H5647 (QalImpf) idols, H1544 whereof the Lord H3068 had said H559 (QalPerf) unto them, Ye shall not do H6213 (QalImpf) this thing. H1697

and serve the idols, of which Jehovah said to them, ‘Ye do not do this thing;’

Yet Yahweh testified to Israel and to Judah, by every prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”

Yet the Lord H3068 testified H5749 (HiphImpf) against Israel, H3478 and against Judah, H3063 by H3027 all the prophets, H5030 [and by] all the seers, H2374 saying, H559 (QalInf) Turn H7725 (QalImpv) ye from your evil H7451 ways, H1870 and keep H8104 (QalImpv) my commandments H4687 [and] my statutes, H2708 according to all the law H8451 which I commanded H6680 (PielPerf) your fathers, H1 and which I sent H7971 (QalPerf) to you by H3027 my servants H5650 the prophets. H5030

And Jehovah testifieth against Israel, and against Judah, by the hand of every prophet, and every seer, saying, ‘Turn back from your evil ways, and keep My commands, My statutes, according to all the law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent unto you by the hand of My servants the prophets;’

Notwithstanding, they would not listen, but hardened their neck like the neck of their fathers who didn’t believe in Yahweh their God.

Notwithstanding they would not hear, H8085 (QalPerf) but hardened H7185 (HiphImpf) their necks, H6203 like to the neck H6203 of their fathers, H1 that did not believe H539 (HiphPerf) in the Lord H3068 their God. H430

and they have not hearkened, and harden their neck, like the neck of their fathers, who did not remain stedfast in Jehovah their God,

They rejected his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified to them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom Yahweh had commanded them that they should not do like them.

And they rejected H3988 (QalImpf) his statutes, H2706 and his covenant H1285 that he made H3772 (QalPerf) with their fathers, H1 and his testimonies H5715 which he testified H5749 (HiphPerf) against them; and they followed H3212 (QalImpf) H310 vanity, H1892 and became vain, H1891 (QalImpf) and went after H310 the heathen H1471 that [were] round about H5439 them, [concerning] whom the Lord H3068 had charged H6680 (PielPerf) them, that they should not do H6213 (QalInf) like them.

and reject His statutes and His covenant that He made with their fathers, and His testimonies that He testified against them, and go after the vain thing, and become vain, and after the nations that are round about them, of whom Jehovah commanded them not to do like them;

Also Judah didn’t keep the commandments of Yahweh their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.

Also Judah H3063 kept H8104 (QalPerf) not the commandments H4687 of the Lord H3068 their God, H430 but walked H3212 (QalImpf) in the statutes H2708 of Israel H3478 which they made. H6213 (QalPerf)

Also Judah hath not kept the commands of Jehovah their God, and they walk in the statutes of Israel that they had made.

Yahweh rejected all the offspring of Israel, afflicted them, and delivered them into the hands of raiders, until he had cast them out of his sight.

And the Lord H3068 rejected H3988 (QalImpf) all the seed H2233 of Israel, H3478 and afflicted H6031 (PielImpf) them, and delivered H5414 (QalImpf) them into the hand H3027 of spoilers, H8154 (QalActPtc) until he had cast H7993 (HiphPerf) them out of his sight. H6440

And Jehovah kicketh against all the seed of Israel, and afflicteth them, and giveth them into the hand of spoilers, till that He hath cast them out of His presence,

The children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they didn’t depart from them

For the children H1121 of Israel H3478 walked H3212 (QalImpf) in all the sins H2403 of Jeroboam H3379 which he did; H6213 (QalPerf) they departed H5493 (QalPerf) not from them;

and the sons of Israel walk in all the sins of Jeroboam that he did, they have not turned aside therefrom,

until Yahweh removed Israel out of his sight, as he said by all his servants the prophets. So Israel was carried away out of their own land to Assyria to this day.

Until the Lord H3068 removed H5493 (HiphPerf) Israel H3478 out of his sight, H6440 as he had said H1696 (PielPerf) by H3027 all his servants H5650 the prophets. H5030 So was Israel H3478 carried away H1540 (QalImpf) out of their own land H127 to Assyria H804 unto this day. H3117

till that Jehovah hath turned Israel aside from His presence, as He spake by the hand of all His servants the prophets, and Israel is removed from off its land to Asshur, unto this day.

Therefore they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, “The nations which you have carried away and placed in the cities of Samaria don’t know the law of the god of the land. Therefore he has sent lions among them; and behold, they kill them, because they don’t know the law of the god of the land.”

And they speak to the king of Asshur, saying, ‘The nations that thou hast removed, and dost place in the cities of Samaria, have not known the custom of the God of the land, and He sendeth among them the lions, and lo, they are destroying them, as they do not know the custom of the God of the land.’

Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, “Carry there one of the priests whom you brought from there; and let him^§ go and dwell there, and let him teach them the law of the god of the land.”

And the king of Asshur commandeth, saying, ‘Cause to go thither one of the priests whom ye removed thence, and they go and dwell there, and he doth teach them the custom of the God of the land.’

So one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and lived in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear Yahweh.

And one of the priests whom they removed from Samaria cometh in, and dwelleth in Beth-El, and he is teaching them how they do fear Jehovah,

However every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they lived.

Howbeit every nation H1471 made H6213 (QalActPtc) gods H430 of their own, and put H3240 (HiphImpf) [them] in the houses H1004 of the high places H1116 which the Samaritans H8118 had made, H6213 (QalPerf) every nation H1471 in their cities H5892 wherein they dwelt. H3427 (QalActPtc)

and they are making each nation its gods, and place them in the houses of the high places that the Samaritans have made, each nation in their cities where they are dwelling.

They feared Yahweh, and also served their own gods, after the ways of the nations from among whom they had been carried away.

They feared H3373 the Lord, H3068 and served H5647 (QalActPtc) their own gods, H430 after the manner H4941 of the nations H1471 whom they carried away H1540 (HiphPerf) from thence.

Jehovah they are fearing, and their gods they are serving, according to the custom of the nations whence they removed them.

To this day they do what they did before. They don’t fear Yahweh, and they do not follow the statutes, or the ordinances, or the law, or the commandment which Yahweh commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

Unto this day H3117 they do H6213 (QalActPtc) after the former H7223 manners: H4941 they fear H3373 not the Lord, H3068 neither do H6213 (QalActPtc) they after their statutes, H2708 or after their ordinances, H4941 or after the law H8451 and commandment H4687 which the Lord H3068 commanded H6680 (PielPerf) the children H1121 of Jacob, H3290 whom he named H7760 (QalPerf) H8034 Israel; H3478

Unto this day they are doing according to the former customs-they are not fearing Jehovah, and are not doing according to their statutes, and according to their ordinances, and according to the law, and according to the command, that Jehovah commanded the sons of Jacob whose name He made Israel,

but you shall fear Yahweh, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm, and you shall bow yourselves to him, and you shall sacrifice to him.

But the Lord, H3068 who brought you up H5927 (HiphPerf) out of the land H776 of Egypt H4714 with great H1419 power H3581 and a stretched out H5186 (QalPasPtc) arm, H2220 him shall ye fear, H3372 (QalImpf) and him shall ye worship, H7812 (HithImpf) and to him shall ye do sacrifice. H2076 (QalImpf)

but Jehovah who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a stretched-out arm, Him ye do fear, and to Him ye bow yourselves, and to Him ye do sacrifice;

The statutes and the ordinances, and the law and the commandment which he wrote for you, you shall observe to do forever more. You shall not fear other gods.

And the statutes, H2706 and the ordinances, H4941 and the law, H8451 and the commandment, H4687 which he wrote H3789 (QalPerf) for you, ye shall observe H8104 (QalImpf) to do H6213 (QalInf) for evermore; H3117 and ye shall not fear H3372 (QalImpf) other H312 gods. H430

and the statutes, and the judgments, and the law, and the command, that He wrote for you, ye observe to do all the days, and ye do not fear other gods;

He trusted in Yahweh, the God of Israel, so that after him was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among them that were before him.

He trusted H982 (QalPerf) in the Lord H3068 God H430 of Israel; H3478 so that after H310 him was none like him among all the kings H4428 of Judah, H3063 nor [any] that were before H6440 him.

In Jehovah, God of Israel, he hath trusted, and after him there hath not been like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among any who were before him;

For he joined with Yahweh. He didn’t depart from following him, but kept his commandments, which Yahweh commanded Moses.

For he clave H1692 (QalImpf) to the Lord, H3068 [and] departed H5493 (QalPerf) not from following H310 him, but kept H8104 (QalImpf) his commandments, H4687 which the Lord H3068 commanded H6680 (PielPerf) Moses. H4872

and he cleaveth to Jehovah, he hath not turned aside from after Him, and keepeth His commands that Jehovah commanded Moses.

Yahweh was with him. Wherever he went, he prospered. He rebelled against the king of Assyria, and didn’t serve him.

And Jehovah hath been with him, in every place where he goeth out he acteth wisely, and he rebelleth against the king of Asshur, and hath not served him;

because they didn’t obey Yahweh their God’s voice, but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded, and would not hear it or do it.

Because they obeyed H8085 (QalPerf) not the voice H6963 of the Lord H3068 their God, H430 but transgressed H5674 (QalImpf) his covenant, H1285 [and] all that Moses H4872 the servant H5650 of the Lord H3068 commanded, H6680 (PielPerf) and would not hear H8085 (QalPerf) [them], nor do H6213 (QalPerf) [them].

because that they have not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah their God, and transgress His covenant-all that He commanded Moses, servant of Jehovah-yea, they have not hearkened nor done it.

Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria at Lachish, saying, “I have offended you. Withdraw from me. That which you put on me, I will bear.” The king of Assyria appointed to Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents° of gold.

and Hezekiah king of Judah sendeth unto the king of Asshur to Lachish, saying, ‘I have sinned, turn back from off me; that which thou puttest on me I bear;’ and the king of Asshur layeth on Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver, and thirty talents of gold,

At that time, Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of Yahweh’s temple, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

at that time hath Hezekiah cut off the doors of the temple of Jehovah, and the pillars that Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and giveth them to the king of Asshur.

The king of Assyria sent Tartan, Rabsaris, and Rabshakeh from Lachish to King Hezekiah with a great army to Jerusalem. They went up and came to Jerusalem. When they had come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.

And the king H4428 of Assyria H804 sent H7971 (QalImpf) Tartan H8661 and Rabsaris H7249 and Rabshakeh H7262 from Lachish H3923 to king H4428 Hezekiah H2396 with a great H3515 host H2426 against Jerusalem. H3389 And they went up H5927 (QalImpf) and came H935 (QalImpf) to Jerusalem. And the king of Asshur sendeth Tartan, and the chief of the eunuchs, and the chief of the butlers, from Lachish, unto king Hezekiah, with a heavy force, to Jerusalem, and they go up and come in to Jerusalem, and they go up, and come in and stand by the conduit of the upper pool that is in the highway of the fuller’s field.

When they had called to the king, Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder came out to them.

And they call unto the king, and go out unto them doth Eliakim son of Hilkiah, who is over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph the remembrancer.

Now, behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt. If a man leans on it, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust on him.

Now, behold, thou trustest H982 (QalPerf) upon the staff H4938 of this bruised H7533 (QalPasPtc) reed, H7070 [even] upon Egypt, H4714 on which if a man H376 lean, H5564 (NiphImpf) it will go H935 (QalPerf) into his hand, H3709 and pierce H5344 (QalPerf) it: so [is] Pharaoh H6547 king H4428 of Egypt H4714 unto all that trust H982 (QalActPtc) on him.

‘Now, lo, thou hast trusted for thee on the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; which a man leaneth on, and it hath gone into his hand, and pierced it!-so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all those trusting on him.

But if you tell me, ‘We trust in Yahweh our God,’ isn’t that he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem’?

But if ye say H559 (QalImpf) unto me, We trust H982 (QalPerf) in the Lord H3068 our God: H430 [is] not that he, whose high places H1116 and whose altars H4196 Hezekiah H2396 hath taken away, H5493 (HiphPerf) and hath said H559 (QalImpf) to Judah H3063 and Jerusalem, H3389 Ye shall worship H7812 (HithImpf) before H6440 this altar H4196 in Jerusalem? H3389

‘And when ye say unto me, Unto Jehovah our God we have trusted, is it not He whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath turned aside, and saith to Judah and to Jerusalem, Before this altar do ye bow yourselves in Jerusalem?

Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, Shebnah, and Joah, said to Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants in the Syrian language, for we understand it. Don’t speak with us in the Jews’ language, in the hearing of the people who are on the wall.”

Then said H559 (QalImpf) Eliakim H471 the son H1121 of Hilkiah, H2518 and Shebna, H7644 and Joah, H3098 unto Rabshakeh, H7262 Speak, H1696 (PielImpv) I pray thee, to thy servants H5650 in the Syrian language; H762 for we understand H8085 (QalActPtc) [it]: and talk H1696 (PielImpf) not with us in the Jews’ language H3066 in the ears H241 of the people H5971 that [are] on the wall. And Eliakim son of Hilkiah saith-and Shebna, and Joah-to the chief of the butlers, ‘Speak, we pray thee, unto thy servants in Aramaean, for we are understanding, and do not speak with us in Jewish, in the ears of the people who are on the wall.’

Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, came with Shebna the scribe and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him Rabshakeh’s words.

Then came H935 (QalImpf) Eliakim H471 the son H1121 of Hilkiah, H2518 which [was] over the household, H1004 and Shebna H7644 the scribe, H5608 (QalActPtc) and Joah H3098 the son H1121 of Asaph H623 the recorder, H2142 (HiphPtc) to Hezekiah H2396 with [their] clothes H899 rent, H7167 (QalPasPtc) and told H5046 (HiphImpf) him the words H1697 of Rabshakeh. And Eliakim son of Hilkiah, who is over the house, cometh in, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph the remembrancer, unto Hezekiah, with rent garments, and they declare to him the words of the chief of the butlers.

He sent Eliakim, who was over the household, Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.

And he sent H7971 (QalImpf) Eliakim, H471 which [was] over the household, H1004 and Shebna H7644 the scribe, H5608 (QalActPtc) and the elders H2205 of the priests, H3548 covered H3680 (HithPtc) with sackcloth, H8242 to Isaiah H3470 the prophet H5030 the son H1121 of Amoz. H531

and sendeth Eliakim, who is over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covering themselves with sackcloth, unto Isaiah the prophet, son of Amoz,

It may be Yahweh your God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to defy the living God, and will rebuke the words which Yahweh your God has heard. Therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’ ”

It may be H194 the Lord H3068 thy God H430 will hear H8085 (QalImpf) all the words H1697 of Rabshakeh, H7262 whom the king H4428 of Assyria H804 his master H113 hath sent H7971 (QalPerf) to reproach H2778 (PielInf) the living H2416 God; H430 and will reprove H3198 (HiphPerf) the words H1697 which the Lord H3068 thy God H430 hath heard: H8085 (QalPerf) wherefore lift up H5375 (QalPerf) [thy] prayer H8605 for the remnant H7611 that are left. ‘It may be Jehovah thy God doth hear all the words of the chief of the butlers with which the king of Asshur his lord hath sent him to reproach the living God, and hath decided concerning the words that Jehovah thy God hath heard, and thou hast lifted up prayer for the remnant that is found.’

Isaiah said to them, “Tell your master this: ‘Yahweh says, “Don’t be afraid of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

and Isaiah saith to them, ‘Thus do ye say unto your lord: Thus said Jehovah, Be not afraid because of the words that thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Asshur have reviled Me.

“Tell Hezekiah king of Judah this: ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, Jerusalem will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

Thus shall ye speak H559 (QalImpf) to Hezekiah H2396 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 saying, H559 (QalInf) Let not thy God H430 in whom thou trustest H982 (QalActPtc) deceive H5377 (HiphImpf) thee, saying, H559 (QalInf) Jerusalem H3389 shall not be delivered H5414 (NiphImpf) into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Assyria. ‘Thus do ye speak unto Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God lift thee up in whom thou art trusting, saying, Jerusalem is not given into the hand of the king of Asshur.

Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly. Will you be delivered?

Behold, thou hast heard H8085 (QalPerf) what the kings H4428 of Assyria H804 have done H6213 (QalPerf) to all lands, H776 by destroying them utterly: H2763 (HiphInf) and shalt thou be delivered? H5337 (NiphImpf)

Lo, thou hast heard that which the kings of Asshur have done to all the lands-to devote them; and thou art delivered!
