So Hanun took David’s servants, shaved off one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.

When they told David this, he sent to meet them, for the men were greatly ashamed. The king said, “Wait at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.”

David sent and inquired after the woman. One said, “Isn’t this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, Uriah the Hittite’s wife?”

David said to Uriah, “Stay here today also, and tomorrow I will let you depart.” So Uriah stayed in Jerusalem that day and the next day.

In the morning, David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah.

και εγενετο πρωι και εγραψεν δαυιδ βιβλιον προς ιωαβ και απεστειλεν εν χειρι ουριου

Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war;

Then Joab H3097 sent H7971 (QalImpf) and told H5046 (HiphImpf) David H1732 all the things H1697 concerning the war; H4421

και απεστειλεν ιωαβ και απηγγειλεν τω βασιλει παντας τους λογους του πολεμου

So the messenger went, and came and showed David all that Joab had sent him for.

So the messenger H4397 went, H3212 (QalImpf) and came H935 (QalImpf) and shewed H5046 (HiphImpf) David H1732 all that Joab H3097 had sent H7971 (QalPerf) him for.

και επορευθη ο αγγελος ιωαβ προς τον βασιλεα εις ιερουσαλημ και παρεγενετο και απηγγειλεν τω δαυιδ παντα οσα απηγγειλεν αυτω ιωαβ παντα τα ρηματα του πολεμου και εθυμωθη δαυιδ προς ιωαβ και ειπεν προς τον αγγελον ινα τι προσηγαγετε προς την πολιν του πολεμησαι ουκ ηδειτε οτι πληγησεσθε απο του τειχους τις επαταξεν τον αβιμελεχ υιον ιεροβααλ ουχι γυνη ερριψεν επ αυτον κλασμα μυλου απο του τειχους και απεθανεν εν θαμασι ινα τι προσηγαγετε προς το τειχος

When the mourning was past, David sent and took her home to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased Yahweh.

And when the mourning H60 was past, H5674 (QalImpf) David H1732 sent H7971 (QalImpf) and fetched H622 (QalImpf) her to his house, H1004 and she became his wife, H802 and bare H3205 (QalImpf) him a son. H1121 But the thing H1697 that David H1732 had done H6213 (QalPerf) displeased H3415 (QalImpf) H5869 the Lord. H3068

Yahweh sent Nathan to David. He came to him, and said to him, “There were two men in one city: the one rich, and the other poor.

και απεστειλεν κυριος τον ναθαν τον προφητην προς δαυιδ και εισηλθεν προς αυτον και ειπεν αυτω δυο ησαν ανδρες εν πολει μια εις πλουσιος και εις πενης

and he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and he named him Jedidiah,° for Yahweh’s sake.

2 Samuel 12:25 “Jedidiah” means “loved by Yahweh”.

And he sent H7971 (QalImpf) by the hand H3027 of Nathan H5416 the prophet; H5030 and he called H7121 (QalImpf) his name H8034 Jedidiah, H3041 because of the Lord. H3068

Joab sent messengers to David, and said, “I have fought against Rabbah. Yes, I have taken the city of waters.

Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, “Go now to your brother Amnon’s house, and prepare food for him.”

και απεστειλεν δαυιδ προς θημαρ εις τον οικον λεγων πορευθητι δη εις τον οικον αμνων του αδελφου σου και ποιησον αυτω βρωμα

She said to him, “Not so, because this great wrong in sending me away is worse than the other that you did to me!” But he would not listen to her.

και ειπεν αυτω θημαρ μη αδελφε οτι μεγαλη η κακια η εσχατη υπερ την πρωτην ην εποιησας μετ εμου του εξαποστειλαι με και ουκ ηθελησεν αμνων ακουσαι της φωνης αυτης

Then he called his servant who ministered to him, and said, “Now put this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.”

και εκαλεσεν το παιδαριον αυτου τον προεστηκοτα του οικου αυτου και ειπεν αυτω εξαποστειλατε δη ταυτην απ εμου εξω και αποκλεισον την θυραν οπισω αυτης

But Absalom pressed him, and he let Amnon and all the king’s sons go with him.

But Absalom H53 pressed H6555 (QalImpf) him, that he let Amnon H550 and all the king’s H4428 sons H1121 go H7971 (QalImpf) with him.

και εβιασατο αυτον αβεσσαλωμ και απεστειλεν μετ αυτου τον αμνων και παντας τους υιους του βασιλεως και εποιησεν αβεσσαλωμ ποτον κατα τον ποτον του βασιλεως

Joab sent to Tekoa and brought a wise woman from there, and said to her, “Please act like a mourner, and put on mourning clothing, please, and don’t anoint yourself with oil; but be as a woman who has mourned a long time for the dead.

και απεστειλεν ιωαβ εις θεκωε και ελαβεν εκειθεν γυναικα σοφην και ειπεν προς αυτην πενθησον δη και ενδυσαι ιματια πενθικα και μη αλειψη ελαιον και εση ως γυνη πενθουσα επι τεθνηκοτι τουτο ημερας πολλας

Then Absalom sent for Joab, to send him to the king, but he would not come to him. Then he sent again a second time, but he would not come.

Absalom answered Joab, “Behold, I sent to you, saying, ‘Come here, that I may send you to the king, to say, “Why have I come from Geshur? It would be better for me to be there still. Now therefore, let me see the king’s face; and if there is iniquity in me, let him kill me.” ’ ”

It was so, that when any man came near to bow down to him, he stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and kissed him.

And it was [so], that when any man H376 came nigh H7126 (QalInf) [to him] to do him obeisance, H7812 (HithInf) he put forth H7971 (QalPerf) his hand, H3027 and took H2388 (HiphPerf) him, and kissed H5401 (QalPerf) him.

και εγενετο εν τω εγγιζειν ανδρα του προσκυνησαι αυτω και εξετεινεν την χειρα αυτου και επελαμβανετο αυτου και κατεφιλησεν αυτον

But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, “As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, ‘Absalom is king in Hebron!’ ”
