Is anything too hard for Yahweh? At the set time I will return to you, when the season comes around, and Sarah will have a son.”

μη αδυνατει παρα τω θεω ρημα εις τον καιρον τουτον αναστρεψω προς σε εις ωρας και εσται τη σαρρα υιος

For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Yahweh, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Yahweh may bring on Abraham that which he has spoken of him.”

Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking.

He said, “Now take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”

Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey; and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.

αναστας δε αβρααμ το πρωι επεσαξεν την ονον αυτου παρελαβεν δε μεθ εαυτου δυο παιδας και ισαακ τον υιον αυτου και σχισας ξυλα εις ολοκαρπωσιν αναστας επορευθη και ηλθεν επι τον τοπον ον ειπεν αυτω ο θεος

Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. They both went together.

ελαβεν δε αβρααμ τα ξυλα της ολοκαρπωσεως και επεθηκεν ισαακ τω υιω αυτου ελαβεν δε και το πυρ μετα χειρα και την μαχαιραν και επορευθησαν οι δυο αμα

Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, “My father?” He said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”

ειπεν δε ισαακ προς αβρααμ τον πατερα αυτου ειπας πατερ ο δε ειπεν τι εστιν τεκνον λεγων ιδου το πυρ και τα ξυλα που εστιν το προβατον το εις ολοκαρπωσιν

Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.

And Abraham H85 said, H559 (QalImpf) My son, H1121 God H430 will provide H7200 (QalImpf) himself a lamb H7716 for a burnt offering: H5930 so they went H3212 (QalImpf) both of them H8147 together. H3162

ειπεν δε αβρααμ ο θεος οψεται εαυτω προβατον εις ολοκαρπωσιν τεκνον πορευθεντες δε αμφοτεροι αμα

They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood.

ηλθον επι τον τοπον ον ειπεν αυτω ο θεος και ωκοδομησεν εκει αβρααμ θυσιαστηριον και επεθηκεν τα ξυλα και συμποδισας ισαακ τον υιον αυτου επεθηκεν αυτον επι το θυσιαστηριον επανω των ξυλων

Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to kill his son.

And Abraham H85 stretched forth H7971 (QalImpf) his hand, H3027 and took H3947 (QalImpf) the knife H3979 to slay H7819 (QalInf) his son. H1121

και εξετεινεν αβρααμ την χειρα αυτου λαβειν την μαχαιραν σφαξαι τον υιον αυτου

He said, “Don’t lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”

και ειπεν μη επιβαλης την χειρα σου επι το παιδαριον μηδε ποιησης αυτω μηδεν νυν γαρ εγνων οτι φοβη τον θεον συ και ουκ εφεισω του υιου σου του αγαπητου δι εμε

Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and saw that behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering instead of his son.

And Abraham H85 lifted up H5375 (QalImpf) his eyes, H5869 and looked, H7200 (QalImpf) and behold behind H310 him a ram H352 caught H270 (NiphPtc) in a thicket H5442 by his horns: H7161 and Abraham H85 went H3212 (QalImpf) and took H3947 (QalImpf) the ram, H352 and offered him up H5927 (HiphImpf) for a burnt offering H5930 in the stead H8478 of his son. και αναβλεψας αβρααμ τοις οφθαλμοις αυτου ειδεν και ιδου κριος εις κατεχομενος εν φυτω σαβεκ των κερατων και επορευθη αβρααμ και ελαβεν τον κριον και ανηνεγκεν αυτον εις ολοκαρπωσιν αντι ισαακ του υιου αυτου

and said, “‘I have sworn by myself,’ says Yahweh, ‘because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son,

After these things, Abraham was told, “Behold, Milcah, she also has borne children to your brother Nahor:
