και ειπεν κυριος ιδου γενος εν και χειλος εν παντων και τουτο ηρξαντο ποιησαι και νυν ουκ εκλειψει εξ αυτων παντα οσα αν επιθωνται ποιειν

Now Yahweh said to Abram, “Leave your country, and your relatives, and your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you.

και ειπεν κυριος τω αβραμ εξελθε εκ της γης σου και εκ της συγγενειας σου και εκ του οικου του πατρος σου εις την γην ην αν σοι δειξω

Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your offspring.”^§ He built an altar there to Yahweh, who had appeared to him.

It will happen that when the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ They will kill me, but they will save you alive.

Please say that you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that my soul may live because of you.”

In that day Yahweh made a covenant with Abram, saying, “I have given this land to your offspring, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:

Sarai said to Abram, “See now, Yahweh has restrained me from bearing. Please go in to my servant. It may be that I will obtain children by her.” Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

Sarai said to Abram, “This wrong is your fault. I gave my servant into your bosom, and when she saw that she had conceived, she despised me. May Yahweh judge between me and you.”

But Abram said to Sarai, “Behold, your maid is in your hand. Do to her whatever is good in your eyes.” Sarai dealt harshly with her, and she fled from her face.

Yahweh’s angel said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hands.”

Yahweh’s angel said to her, “I will greatly multiply your offspring, that they will not be counted for multitude.”

Yahweh’s angel said to her, “Behold, you are with child, and will bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, because Yahweh has heard your affliction.

Genesis 16:11 that is, God shall hear

και ειπεν αυτη ο αγγελος κυριου ιδου συ εν γαστρι εχεις και τεξη υιον και καλεσεις το ονομα αυτου ισμαηλ οτι επηκουσεν κυριος τη ταπεινωσει σου

She called the name of Yahweh who spoke to her, “You are a God who sees,” for she said, “Have I even stayed alive after seeing him?”

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, Yahweh appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty. Walk before me and be blameless.

Abram fell on his face. God talked with him, saying,

Then Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, “Will a child be born to him who is one hundred years old? Will Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth?”

Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before you!”

ειπεν δε επαναστρεφων ηξω προς σε κατα τον καιρον τουτον εις ωρας και εξει υιον σαρρα η γυνη σου σαρρα δε ηκουσεν προς τη θυρα της σκηνης ουσα οπισθεν αυτου

Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old will I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”

εγελασεν δε σαρρα εν εαυτη λεγουσα ουπω μεν μοι γεγονεν εως του νυν ο δε κυριος μου πρεσβυτερος

Yahweh said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Will I really bear a child when I am old?’

και ειπεν κυριος προς αβρααμ τι οτι εγελασεν σαρρα εν εαυτη λεγουσα αρα γε αληθως τεξομαι εγω δε γεγηρακα

Then Sarah denied it, saying, “I didn’t laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “No, but you did laugh.”

ηρνησατο δε σαρρα λεγουσα ουκ εγελασα εφοβηθη γαρ και ειπεν ουχι αλλα εγελασας

Yahweh said, “Will I hide from Abraham what I do,

ο δε κυριος ειπεν μη κρυψω εγω απο αβρααμ του παιδος μου α εγω ποιω

Yahweh said, “Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous,
