And Isaiah son of Amoz sendeth unto Hezekiah, saying, ‘Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed unto Me concerning Sennacherib king of Asshur I have heard:

Because of your raging against me, and because your arrogance has come up into my ears, therefore I will put my hook in your nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came.’

“Remember now, Yahweh, I beg you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

‘I pray Thee, O Jehovah, remember, I pray Thee, how I have walked habitually before Thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, and that which is good in Thine eyes I have done;’ and Hezekiah weepeth-a great weeping.

Isaiah the prophet cried to Yahweh; and he brought the shadow ten steps backward, by which it had gone down on the sundial of Ahaz.

He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, after the abominations of the nations whom Yahweh cast out before the children of Israel.

For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he raised up altars for Baal, and made an Asherah, as Ahab king of Israel did, and worshiped all the army of the sky, and served them.

I will not cause the feet of Israel to wander any more out of the land which I gave their fathers, if only they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.”

But they didn’t listen, and Manasseh seduced them to do that which is evil more than the nations did whom Yahweh destroyed before the children of Israel.

But they hearkened H8085 (QalPerf) not: and Manasseh H4519 seduced H8582 (HiphImpf) them to do H6213 (QalInf) more evil H7451 than did the nations H1471 whom the Lord H3068 destroyed H8045 (HiphPerf) before H6440 the children H1121 of Israel. H3478

And they have not hearkened, and Manasseh causeth them to err, to do the evil thing above the nations that Jehovah destroyed from the presence of the sons of Israel.

“Because Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations, and has done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has also made Judah to sin with his idols;

Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, until he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; in addition to his sin with which he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight.

She said to them, “Yahweh the God of Israel says, ‘Tell the man who sent you to me,

Thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am bringing in evil unto this place and on its inhabitants, all the words of the book that the king of Judah hath read,

Because they have forsaken me and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and it will not be quenched.’ ”

because that they have forsaken Me, and make perfume to other gods, so as to provoke Me to anger with every work of their hands, and My wrath hath been kindled against this place, and it is not quenched.

But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Yahweh, tell him, “Yahweh the God of Israel says, ‘Concerning the words which you have heard,

But to the king H4428 of Judah H3063 which sent H7971 (QalActPtc) you to enquire H1875 (QalInf) of the Lord, H3068 thus shall ye say H559 (QalImpf) to him, Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 God H430 of Israel, H3478 [As touching] the words H1697 which thou hast heard; H8085 (QalPerf)

‘And unto the king of Judah, who is sending you to seek Jehovah, thus do ye say unto him, Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, The words that thou hast heard-

because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before Yahweh when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you,’ says Yahweh.

because thy heart is tender, and thou art humbled because of Jehovah, in thy hearing that which I have spoken against this place, and against its inhabitants, to be for a desolation, and for a reviling, and dost rend thy garments, and weep before Me-I also have heard-the affirmation of Jehovah-

‘Therefore behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the evil which I will bring on this place.’ ” ’ ” So they brought this message back to the king.

therefore, lo, I am gathering thee unto thy fathers, and thou hast been gathered unto thy grave in peace, and thine eyes do not look on any of the evil that I am bringing in on this place;’ and they bring the king back word.

He got rid of the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah and in the places around Jerusalem; those also who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, to the moon, to the planets, and to all the army of the sky.

And he put down H7673 (HiphPerf) the idolatrous priests, H3649 whom the kings H4428 of Judah H3063 had ordained H5414 (QalPerf) to burn incense H6999 (PielImpf) in the high places H1116 in the cities H5892 of Judah, H3063 and in the places round about H4524 Jerusalem; H3389 them also that burned incense H6999 (PielPtc) unto Baal, H1168 to the sun, H8121 and to the moon, H3394 and to the planets, H4208 and to all the host H6635 of heaven. And he hath caused to cease the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah have appointed, (and they make perfume in high places, in cities of Judah and suburbs of Jerusalem,) and those making perfume to Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of the heavens.

He broke down the houses of the male shrine prostitutes that were in Yahweh’s house, where the women wove hangings for the Asherah.

And he brake down H5422 (QalImpf) the houses H1004 of the sodomites, H6945 that [were] by the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 where the women H802 wove H707 (QalActPtc) hangings H1004 for the grove. H842

And he breaketh down the houses of the whoremongers that are in the house of Jehovah, where the women are weaving houses for the shrine.

He brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba; and he broke down the high places of the gates that were at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city.

And the high places that are on the front of Jerusalem, that are on the right of the mount of corruption, that Solomon king of Israel had built to Ashtoreth abomination of the Zidonians, and Chemosh abomination of Moab, and to Milcom abomination of the sons of Ammon, hath the king defiled.

Moreover the altar that was at Bethel and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, even that altar and the high place he broke down; and he burned the high place and beat it to dust, and burned the Asherah.

Moreover the altar H4196 that [was] at Bethel, H1008 [and] the high place H1116 which Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat, H5028 who made Israel H3478 to sin, H2398 (HiphPerf) had made, H6213 (QalPerf) both that altar H4196 and the high place H1116 he brake down, H5422 (QalPerf) and burned H8313 (QalImpf) the high place, H1116 [and] stamped H1854 (HiphPerf) [it] small to powder, H6083 and burned H8313 (QalPerf) the grove. and also the altar that is in Beth-El, the high place that Jeroboam son of Nebat made, by which he made Israel sin, both that altar and the high place he hath broken down, and doth burn the high place-he hath beat it small to dust, and hath burnt the shrine.

As Josiah turned himself, he spied the tombs that were there in the mountain; and he sent, and took the bones out of the tombs, and burned them on the altar, and defiled it, according to Yahweh’s word which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.

And as Josiah H2977 turned H6437 (QalImpf) himself, he spied H7200 (QalImpf) the sepulchres H6913 that [were] there in the mount, H2022 and sent, H7971 (QalImpf) and took H3947 (QalImpf) the bones H6106 out of the sepulchres, H6913 and burned H8313 (QalImpf) [them] upon the altar, H4196 and polluted H2930 (PielImpf) it, according to the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 which the man H376 of God H430 proclaimed, H7121 (QalPerf) who proclaimed H7121 (QalPerf) these words. H1697

And Josiah turneth, and seeth the graves that are there in the mount, and sendeth and taketh the bones out of the graves, and burneth them on the altar, and defileth it, according to the word of Jehovah that the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.

Then he said, “What monument is that which I see?” The men of the city told him, “It is the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and proclaimed these things that you have done against the altar of Bethel.”

Then he said, H559 (QalImpf) What title H6725 [is] that H1975 that I see? H7200 (QalActPtc) And the men H582 of the city H5892 told H559 (QalImpf) him, [It is] the sepulchre H6913 of the man H376 of God, H430 which came H935 (QalPerf) from Judah, H3063 and proclaimed H7121 (QalImpf) these things H1697 that thou hast done H6213 (QalPerf) against the altar H4196 of Bethel. H1008

And he saith, ‘What is this sign that I see?’ and the men of the city say unto him, ‘The grave of the man of God who hath come from Judah, and proclaimeth these things that thou hast done concerning the altar of Beth-El.’

He said, “Let him be! Let no one move his bones.” So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet who came out of Samaria.

And he said, H559 (QalImpf) Let him alone; H3240 (HiphImpv) let no man H376 move H5128 (HiphImpf) his bones. H6106 So they let his bones H6106 alone, H4422 (PielImpf) with the bones H6106 of the prophet H5030 that came out H935 (QalPerf) of Samaria. H8111

And he saith, ‘Let him alone, let no man touch his bones;’ and they let his bones escape, with the bones of the prophet who came out of Samaria.

All the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke Yahweh to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.

And all the houses H1004 also of the high places H1116 that [were] in the cities H5892 of Samaria, H8111 which the kings H4428 of Israel H3478 had made H6213 (QalPerf) to provoke [the Lord] to anger, H3707 (HiphInf) Josiah H2977 took away, H5493 (HiphPerf) and did H6213 (QalImpf) to them according to all the acts H4639 that he had done H6213 (QalPerf) in Bethel. H1008

And also all the houses of the high places that are in the cities of Samaria, that the kings of Israel made to provoke to anger, hath Josiah turned aside, and doth to them according to all the deeds that he did in Beth-El.

He killed all the priests of the high places that were there, on the altars, and burned men’s bones on them; and he returned to Jerusalem.

And he slew H2076 (QalImpf) all the priests H3548 of the high places H1116 that [were] there upon the altars, H4196 and burned H8313 (QalImpf) men’s H120 bones H6106 upon them, and returned H7725 (QalImpf) to Jerusalem. H3389

And he slayeth all the priests of the high places who are there by the altars, and burneth the bones of man upon them, and turneth back to Jerusalem.

Surely there was not kept such a Passover from the days of the judges who judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;

Surely there was not holden H6213 (NiphPerf) such a passover H6453 from the days H3117 of the judges H8199 (QalActPtc) that judged H8199 (QalPerf) Israel, H3478 nor in all the days H3117 of the kings H4428 of Israel, H3478 nor of the kings H4428 of Judah; H3063

Surely there hath not been made like this passover from the days of the judges who judged Israel, even all the days of the kings of Israel, and of the kings of Judah;

There was no king like him before him, who turned to Yahweh with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; and there was none like him who arose after him.

And like unto him was there no king H4428 before H6440 him, that turned H7725 (QalPerf) to the Lord H3068 with all his heart, H3824 and with all his soul, H5315 and with all his might, H3966 according to all the law H8451 of Moses; H4872 neither after H310 him arose H6965 (QalPerf) there [any] like him.

And like him there hath not been before him a king who turned back unto Jehovah with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses, and after him there hath none risen like him.

Notwithstanding, Yahweh didn’t turn from the fierceness of his great wrath, with which his anger burned against Judah, because of all the provocation with which Manasseh had provoked him.

Notwithstanding the Lord H3068 turned H7725 (QalPerf) not from the fierceness H2740 of his great H1419 wrath, H639 wherewith his anger H639 was kindled H2734 (QalPerf) against Judah, H3063 because of all the provocations H3708 that Manasseh H4519 had provoked H3707 (HiphPerf) him withal.

Only, Jehovah hath not turned back from the fierceness of His great anger with which His anger burned against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh provoked him,

Yahweh said, “I will also remove Judah out of my sight, as I have removed Israel; and I will cast off this city which I have chosen, even Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, ‘My name shall be there.’ ”

And the Lord H3068 said, H559 (QalImpf) I will remove H5493 (HiphImpf) Judah H3063 also out of my sight, H6440 as I have removed H5493 (HiphPerf) Israel, H3478 and will cast off H3988 (QalPerf) this city H5892 Jerusalem H3389 which I have chosen, H977 (QalPerf) and the house H1004 of which I said, H559 (QalPerf) My name H8034 shall be there.

and Jehovah saith, ‘Also Judah I turn aside from my presence, as I turned Israel aside, and I have rejected this city that I have chosen-Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, My name is there.’

Yahweh sent against him bands of the Chaldeans, bands of the Syrians, bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to Yahweh’s word which he spoke by his servants the prophets.

And the Lord H3068 sent H7971 (PielImpf) against him bands H1416 of the Chaldees, H3778 and bands H1416 of the Syrians, H758 and bands H1416 of the Moabites, H4124 and bands H1416 of the children H1121 of Ammon, H5983 and sent H7971 (PielImpf) them against Judah H3063 to destroy H6 (HiphInf) it, according to the word H1697 of the Lord, H3068 which he spake H1696 (PielPerf) by H3027 his servants H5650 the prophets. H5030

and Jehovah sendeth against him the troops of the Chaldeans, and the troops of Aram, and the troops of Moab, and the troops of the sons of Ammon, and He sendeth them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of Jehovah, that He spake by the hand of His servants the prophets;

and also for the innocent blood that he shed; for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and Yahweh would not pardon.

And also for the innocent H5355 blood H1818 that he shed: H8210 (QalPerf) for he filled H4390 (PielImpf) Jerusalem H3389 with innocent H5355 blood; H1818 which the Lord H3068 would H14 (QalPerf) not pardon. H5545 (QalInf)

and also the innocent blood that he hath shed, and he filleth Jerusalem with innocent blood, and Jehovah was not willing to forgive.

He carried out from there all the treasures of Yahweh’s house and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in Yahweh’s temple, as Yahweh had said.

And he carried out H3318 (HiphImpf) thence all the treasures H214 of the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and the treasures H214 of the king’s H4428 house, H1004 and cut in pieces H7112 (PielImpf) all the vessels H3627 of gold H2091 which Solomon H8010 king H4428 of Israel H3478 had made H6213 (QalPerf) in the temple H1964 of the Lord, H3068 as the Lord H3068 had said. H1696 (PielPerf)

and bringeth out thence all the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the house of the king, and cutteth in pieces all the vessels of gold that Solomon king of Israel made in the temple of Jehovah, as Jehovah had spoken.

All the army of the Chaldeans, who were with the captain of the guard, broke down the walls around Jerusalem.

And all the army H2428 of the Chaldees, H3778 that [were with] the captain H7227 of the guard, H2876 brake down H5422 (QalPerf) the walls H2346 of Jerusalem H3389 round about. H5439

and the walls of Jerusalem round about have all the forces of the Chaldeans, who are with the chief of the executioners, broken down.
