I, even I, Artaxerxes the king, make a decree to all the treasurers who are beyond the River, that whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, requires of you, it shall be done with all diligence,

και απ εμου εγω αρθασασθα βασιλευς εθηκα γνωμην πασαις ταις γαζαις ταις εν περα του ποταμου οτι παν ο αν αιτηση υμας εσδρας ο ιερευς και γραμματευς του νομου του θεου του ουρανου ετοιμως γιγνεσθω

You, Ezra, according to the wisdom of your God that is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges who may judge all the people who are beyond the River, who all know the laws of your God; and teach him who doesn’t know them.

και συ εσδρα ως η σοφια του θεου εν χειρι σου καταστησον γραμματεις και κριτας ινα ωσιν κρινοντες παντι τω λαω τω εν περα του ποταμου πασιν τοις ειδοσιν νομον του θεου σου και τω μη ειδοτι γνωριειτε

Whoever will not do the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be executed on him with all diligence, whether it is to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.

και πας ος αν μη η ποιων νομον του θεου και νομον του βασιλεως ετοιμως το κριμα εσται γιγνομενον εξ αυτου εαν τε εις θανατον εαν τε εις παιδειαν εαν τε εις ζημιαν του βιου εαν τε εις δεσμα

But if you don’t make known to me the dream, there is but one law for you; for you have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, until the situation changes. Therefore tell me the dream, and I will know that you can show me its interpretation.”

εαν ουν το ενυπνιον μη αναγγειλητε μοι οιδα οτι ρημα ψευδες και διεφθαρμενον συνεθεσθε ειπειν ενωπιον μου εως ου ο καιρος παρελθη το ενυπνιον μου ειπατε μοι και γνωσομαι οτι την συγκρισιν αυτου αναγγελειτε μοι

So the decree went out, and the wise men were to be slain. They sought Daniel and his companions to be slain.

He answered Arioch the king’s captain, “Why is the decree so urgent from the king?” Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

αρχων του βασιλεως περι τινος εξηλθεν η γνωμη η αναιδης εκ προσωπου του βασιλεως εγνωρισεν δε το ρημα αριωχ τω δανιηλ

Then these men said, “We won’t find any occasion against this Daniel, unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.”

Now, O king, establish the decree and sign the writing, that it not be changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which doesn’t alter.”

Then these men assembled together to the king, and said to the king, “Know, O king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians, that no decree nor statute which the king establishes may be changed.”

^[6:16] τοτε οι ανδρες εκεινοι λεγουσιν τω βασιλει γνωθι βασιλευ οτι δογμα μηδοις και περσαις του παν ορισμον και στασιν ην αν ο βασιλευς στηση ου δει παραλλαξαι

He will speak words against the Most High, and will wear out the saints of the Most High. He will plan to change the times and the law; and they will be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.
