Now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to me. Moreover I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.

Then we cried to Yahweh, the God of our fathers. Yahweh heard our voice, and saw our affliction, our toil, and our oppression.

And when we cried H6817 (QalImpf) unto the Lord H3068 God H430 of our fathers, H1 the Lord H3068 heard H8085 (QalImpf) our voice, H6963 and looked H7200 (QalImpf) on our affliction, H6040 and our labour, H5999 and our oppression: H3906

και ανεβοησαμεν προς κυριον τον θεον των πατερων ημων και εισηκουσεν κυριος της φωνης ημων και ειδεν την ταπεινωσιν ημων και τον μοχθον ημων και τον θλιμμον ημων

Say, ‘The king says, “Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.” ’ ”

And say, H559 (QalPerf) Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the king, H4428 Put H7760 (QalImpv) this [fellow] in the prison, H1004 H3608 and feed H398 (HiphImpv) him with bread H3899 of affliction H3906 and with water H4325 of affliction, H3906 until I come H935 (QalInf) in peace. H7965

ειπον θεσθαι τουτον εν φυλακη και εσθιειν αυτον αρτον θλιψεως και υδωρ θλιψεως εως του επιστρεψαι με εν ειρηνη

Jehoahaz begged Yahweh, and Yahweh listened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them.

And Jehoahaz H3059 besought H2470 (PielImpf) the Lord, H3068 and the Lord H3068 hearkened H8085 (QalImpf) unto H6440 him: for he saw H7200 (QalPerf) the oppression H3906 of Israel, H3478 because the king H4428 of Syria H758 oppressed H3905 (QalPerf) them.

και εδεηθη ιωαχας του προσωπου κυριου και επηκουσεν αυτου κυριος οτι ειδεν την θλιψιν ισραηλ οτι εθλιψεν αυτους βασιλευς συριας

and say, ‘The king says, “Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.” ’ ”

και ερεις ουτως ειπεν ο βασιλευς αποθεσθε τουτον εις οικον φυλακης και εσθιετω αρτον θλιψεως και υδωρ θλιψεως εως του επιστρεψαι με εν ειρηνη

He delivers the afflicted by their affliction, and opens their ear in oppression.

ανθ ων εθλιψαν ασθενη και αδυνατον κριμα δε πραεων εκθησει

I will ask God, my rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”

^[41:10] ερω τω θεω αντιλημπτωρ μου ει δια τι μου επελαθου ινα τι σκυθρωπαζων πορευομαι εν τω εκθλιβειν τον εχθρον μου

For you are the God of my strength. Why have you rejected me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

For thou [art] the God H430 of my strength: H4581 why dost thou cast me off? H2186 (QalPerf) why go H1980 (HithImpf) I mourning H6937 (QalActPtc) because of the oppression H3906 of the enemy? H341 (QalActPtc)

^[42:2] οτι συ ει ο θεος κραταιωμα μου ινα τι απωσω με και ινα τι σκυθρωπαζων πορευομαι εν τω εκθλιβειν τον εχθρον μου

Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?

Wherefore hidest H5641 (HiphImpf) thou thy face, H6440 [and] forgettest H7911 (QalImpf) our affliction H6040 and our oppression? H3906

^[43:25] ινα τι το προσωπον σου αποστρεφεις επιλανθανη της πτωχειας ημων και της θλιψεως ημων

Though the Lord may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers won’t be hidden any more, but your eyes will see your teachers;

And [though] the Lord H136 give H5414 (QalPerf) you the bread H3899 of adversity, H6862 and the water H4325 of affliction, H3906 yet shall not thy teachers H3384 (HiphPtc) be removed into a corner H3670 (NiphImpf) any more, but thine eyes H5869 shall see H7200 (QalActPtc) thy teachers: H3384 (HiphPtc)
