2 Chronicles 18 (WEBP)
[1] Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and he allied himself with Ahab.
[2] After some years, he went down to Ahab to Samaria. Ahab killed sheep and cattle for him in abundance, and for the people who were with him, and moved him to go up with him to Ramoth Gilead.
[3] Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me to Ramoth Gilead?” He answered him, “I am as you are, and my people as your people. We will be with you in the war.”
[4] Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for Yahweh’s word.”
[5] Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” They said, “Go up, for God will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
[6] But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there here a prophet of Yahweh besides, that we may inquire of him?”
[7] The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla.” Jehoshaphat said, “Don’t let the king say so.”
[8] Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, “Get Micaiah the son of Imla quickly.”
[9] Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah each sat on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
[10] Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made himself horns of iron and said, “Yahweh says, ‘With these you shall push the Syrians, until they are consumed.’ ”
[11] All the prophets prophesied so, saying, “Go up to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper; for Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
[12] The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. Let your word therefore, please be like one of theirs, and speak good.”
[13] Micaiah said, “As Yahweh lives, I will say what my God says.”
[14] When he had come to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” He said, “Go up, and prosper. They shall be delivered into your hand.”
[15] The king said to him, “How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in Yahweh’s name?”
[16] He said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. Yahweh said, ‘These have no master. Let them each return to his house in peace.’ ”
[17] The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”
[18] Micaiah said, “Therefore hear Yahweh’s word: I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.
[19] Yahweh said, ‘Who will entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ One spoke saying in this way, and another saying in that way.
[20] A spirit came out, stood before Yahweh, and said, ‘I will entice him.’ “Yahweh said to him, ‘How?’
[21] “He said, ‘I will go, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ “He said, ‘You will entice him, and will prevail also. Go and do so.’
[22] “Now therefore, behold, Yahweh has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets; and Yahweh has spoken evil concerning you.”
[23] Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did Yahweh’s Spirit go from me to speak to you?”
[24] Micaiah said, “Behold, you shall see on that day, when you go into an inner room to hide yourself.”
[25] The king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;
[26] and say, ‘The king says, “Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.” ’ ”
[27] Micaiah said, “If you return at all in peace, Yahweh has not spoken by me.” He said, “Listen, you people, all of you!”
[28] So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.
[29] The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but you put on your robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into the battle.
[30] Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, “Don’t fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.”
[31] When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “It is the king of Israel!” Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and Yahweh helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.
[32] When the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.
[33] A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of the chariot, “Turn around and carry me out of the battle, for I am severely wounded.”
[34] The battle increased that day. However, the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening; and at about sunset, he died.

2 Chronicles 18 (KJVS)
[1] Now Jehoshaphat H3092 had riches H6239 and honour H3519 in abundance H7230, and joined affinity H2859 (8691) with Ahab H256.
[2] And after H7093 [certain] years H8141 he went down H3381 (8799) to Ahab H256 to Samaria H8111. And Ahab H256 killed H2076 (8799) sheep H6629 and oxen H1241 for him in abundance H7230, and for the people H5971 that [he had] with him, and persuaded H5496 (8686) him to go up H5927 (8800) [with him] to Ramothgilead H7433 H1568.
[3] And Ahab H256 king H4428 of Israel H3478 said H559 (8799) unto Jehoshaphat H3092 king H4428 of Judah H3063, Wilt thou go H3212 (8799) with me to Ramothgilead H7433 H1568? And he answered H559 (8799) him, I [am] as thou [art], and my people H5971 as thy people H5971; and [we will be] with thee in the war H4421.
[4] And Jehoshaphat H3092 said H559 (8799) unto the king H4428 of Israel H3478, Enquire H1875 (8798), I pray thee, at the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 to day H3117.
[5] Therefore the king H4428 of Israel H3478 gathered together H6908 (8799) of prophets H5030 four H702 hundred H3967 men H376, and said H559 (8799) unto them, Shall we go H3212 (8799) to Ramothgilead H7433 H1568 to battle H4421, or shall I forbear H2308 (8799)? And they said H559 (8799), Go up H5927 (8798); for God H430 will deliver H5414 (8799) [it] into the king’s H4428 hand H3027.
[6] But Jehoshaphat H3092 said H559 (8799), [Is there] not here a prophet H5030 of the LORD H3068 besides, that we might enquire H1875 (8799) of him?
[7] And the king H4428 of Israel H3478 said H559 (8799) unto Jehoshaphat H3092, [There is] yet one H259 man H376, by whom we may enquire H1875 (8800) of the LORD H3068: but I hate H8130 (8804) him; for he never prophesied H5012 (8693) good H2896 unto me, but always H3117 evil H7451: the same [is] Micaiah H4321 the son H1121 of Imla H3229. And Jehoshaphat H3092 said H559 (8799), Let not the king H4428 say H559 (8799) so.
[8] And the king H4428 of Israel H3478 called H7121 (8799) for one H259 [of his] officers H5631, and said H559 (8799), Fetch quickly H4116 (8761) Micaiah H4319 the son H1121 of Imla H3229.
[9] And the king H4428 of Israel H3478 and Jehoshaphat H3092 king H4428 of Judah H3063 sat H3427 (8802) either H376 of them on his throne H3678, clothed H3847 (8794) in [their] robes H899, and they sat H3427 (8802) in a void place H1637 at the entering in H6607 of the gate H8179 of Samaria H8111; and all the prophets H5030 prophesied H5012 (8693) before H6440 them.
[10] And Zedekiah H6667 the son H1121 of Chenaanah H3668 had made H6213 (8799) him horns H7161 of iron H1270, and said H559 (8799), Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068, With these thou shalt push H5055 (8762) Syria H758 until they be consumed H3615 (8763).
[11] And all the prophets H5030 prophesied H5012 (8737) so, saying H559 (8800), Go up H5927 (8798) to Ramothgilead H7433 H1568, and prosper H6743 (8685): for the LORD H3068 shall deliver H5414 (8804) [it] into the hand H3027 of the king H4428.
[12] And the messenger H4397 that went H1980 (8804) to call H7121 (8800) Micaiah H4321 spake H1696 (8765) to him, saying H559 (8800), Behold, the words H1697 of the prophets H5030 [declare] good H2896 to the king H4428 with one H259 assent H6310; let thy word H1697 therefore, I pray thee, be like one H259 of theirs, and speak H1696 (8765) thou good H2896.
[13] And Micaiah H4321 said H559 (8799), [As] the LORD H3068 liveth H2416, even what my God H430 saith H559 (8799), that will I speak H1696 (8762).
[14] And when he was come H935 (8799) to the king H4428, the king H4428 said H559 (8799) unto him, Micaiah H4318, shall we go H3212 (8799) to Ramothgilead H7433 H1568 to battle H4421, or shall I forbear H2308 (8799)? And he said H559 (8799), Go ye up H5927 (8798), and prosper H6743 (8685), and they shall be delivered H5414 (8735) into your hand H3027.
[15] And the king H4428 said H559 (8799) to him, How many times H6471 shall I adjure H7650 (8688) thee that thou say H1696 (8762) nothing but the truth H571 to me in the name H8034 of the LORD H3068?
[16] Then he said H559 (8799), I did see H7200 (8804) all Israel H3478 scattered H6327 (8737) upon the mountains H2022, as sheep H6629 that have no shepherd H7462 (8802): and the LORD H3068 said H559 (8799), These have no master H113; let them return H7725 (8799) [therefore] every man H376 to his house H1004 in peace H7965.
[17] And the king H4428 of Israel H3478 said H559 (8799) to Jehoshaphat H3092, Did I not tell H559 (8804) thee [that] he would not prophesy H5012 (8691) good H2896 unto me, but evil H7451?
[18] Again he said H559 (8799), Therefore hear H8085 (8798) the word H1697 of the LORD H3068; I saw H7200 (8804) the LORD H3068 sitting H3427 (8802) upon his throne H3678, and all the host H6635 of heaven H8064 standing H5975 (8802) on his right hand H3225 and [on] his left H8040.
[19] And the LORD H3068 said H559 (8799), Who shall entice H6601 (8762) Ahab H256 king H4428 of Israel H3478, that he may go up H5927 (8799) and fall H5307 (8799) at Ramothgilead H7433 H1568? And one spake H559 (8799) saying H559 (8802) after this manner H3602, and another saying H559 (8802) after that manner H3602.
[20] Then there came out H3318 (8799) a spirit H7307, and stood H5975 (8799) before H6440 the LORD H3068, and said H559 (8799), I will entice H6601 (8762) him. And the LORD H3068 said H559 (8799) unto him, Wherewith?
[21] And he said H559 (8799), I will go out H3318 (8799), and be a lying H8267 spirit H7307 in the mouth H6310 of all his prophets H5030. And [the LORD] said H559 (8799), Thou shalt entice H6601 (8762) [him], and thou shalt also prevail H3201 (8799): go out H3318 (8798), and do H6213 (8798) [even] so.
[22] Now therefore, behold, the LORD H3068 hath put H5414 (8804) a lying H8267 spirit H7307 in the mouth H6310 of these thy prophets H5030, and the LORD H3068 hath spoken H1696 (8765) evil H7451 against thee.
[23] Then Zedekiah H6667 the son H1121 of Chenaanah H3668 came near H5066 (8799), and smote H5221 (8686) Micaiah H4321 upon the cheek H3895, and said H559 (8799), Which H335 way H1870 went H5674 (8804) the Spirit H7307 of the LORD H3068 from me to speak H1696 (8763) unto thee?
[24] And Micaiah H4321 said H559 (8799), Behold, thou shalt see H7200 (8802) on that day H3117 when thou shalt go H935 (8799) into an inner H2315 chamber H2315 to hide H2244 (8736) thyself.
[25] Then the king H4428 of Israel H3478 said H559 (8799), Take H3947 (8798) ye Micaiah H4321, and carry him back H7725 (8685) to Amon H526 the governor H8269 of the city H5892, and to Joash H3101 the king’s H4428 son H1121;
[26] And say H559 (8804), Thus saith H559 (8804) the king H4428, Put H7760 (8798) this [fellow] in the prison H1004 H3608, and feed H398 (8685) him with bread H3899 of affliction H3906 and with water H4325 of affliction H3906, until I return H7725 (8800) in peace H7965.
[27] And Micaiah H4321 said H559 (8799), If thou certainly H7725 (8800) return H7725 (8799) in peace H7965, [then] hath not the LORD H3068 spoken H1696 (8765) by me. And he said H559 (8799), Hearken H8085 (8798), all ye people H5971.
[28] So the king H4428 of Israel H3478 and Jehoshaphat H3092 the king H4428 of Judah H3063 went up H5927 (8799) to Ramothgilead H7433 H1568.
[29] And the king H4428 of Israel H3478 said H559 (8799) unto Jehoshaphat H3092, I will disguise H2664 (8692) myself, and will go H935 (8800) to the battle H4421; but put H3847 (8798) thou on thy robes H899. So the king H4428 of Israel H3478 disguised H2664 (8691) himself; and they went H935 (8799) to the battle H4421.
[30] Now the king H4428 of Syria H758 had commanded H6680 (8765) the captains H8269 of the chariots H7393 that [were] with him, saying H559 (8800), Fight H3898 (8735) ye not with small H6996 or great H1419, save only with the king H4428 of Israel H3478.
[31] And it came to pass, when the captains H8269 of the chariots H7393 saw H7200 (8800) Jehoshaphat H3092, that they said H559 (8804), It [is] the king H4428 of Israel H3478. Therefore they compassed about H5437 (8799) him to fight H3898 (8736): but Jehoshaphat H3092 cried out H2199 (8799), and the LORD H3068 helped H5826 (8804) him; and God H430 moved H5496 (8686) them [to depart] from him.
[32] For it came to pass, that, when the captains H8269 of the chariots H7393 perceived H7200 (8800) that it was not the king H4428 of Israel H3478, they turned back again H7725 (8799) from pursuing H310 him.
[33] And a [certain] man drew H4900 (8804) a bow H7198 at a venture H8537, and smote H5221 (8686) the king H4428 of Israel H3478 between the joints H1694 of the harness H8302: therefore he said H559 (8799) to his chariot H7395 man H376, Turn H2015 (8798) thine hand H3027, that thou mayest carry me out H3318 (8689) of the host H4264; for I am wounded H2470 (8717).
[34] And the battle H4421 increased H5927 (8799) that day H3117: howbeit the king H4428 of Israel H3478 stayed [himself] up H5975 (8689) in [his] chariot H4818 against H5227 the Syrians H758 until the even H6153: and about the time H6256 of the sun H8121 going down H935 (8800) he died H4191 (8799).
Young’s Literal Translation
2 Chronicles 18 (YLT)
[1] And Jehoshaphat hath riches and honour in abundance, and joineth affinity to Ahab,
[2] and goeth down at the end of certain years unto Ahab to Samaria, and Ahab sacrificeth for him sheep and oxen in abundance, and for the people who are with him, and persuadeth him to go up unto Ramoth-Gilead.
[3] And Ahab king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, ‘Dost thou go with me to Ramoth-Gilead?’ And he saith to him, ‘As I-so thou, and as thy people-my people, even with thee in battle.’
[4] And Jehoshaphat saith unto the king of Israel, ‘Seek, I pray thee, this day, the word of Jehovah.’
[5] And the king of Israel gathereth the prophets, four hundred men, and saith unto them, ‘Do we go unto Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or do I forbear?’ And they say, ‘Go up, and God doth give it into the hand of the king.’
[6] And Jehoshaphat saith, ‘Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah still, and we seek from him?’
[7] And the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat, ‘Still-one man to seek Jehovah from him, and I-I have hated him, for he is not prophesying concerning me of good, but all his days of evil, he is Micaiah son of Imlah;’ and Jehoshaphat saith, ‘Let not the king say so.’
[8] And the king of Israel calleth unto a certain officer, and saith, ‘Hasten Micaiah son of Imlah.’
[9] And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah are sitting, each on his throne, clothed with garments, and they are sitting in a threshing-floor at the opening of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets are prophesying before them.
[10] And Zedekiah son of Chenaanah maketh for himself horns of iron, and saith, ‘Thus said Jehovah,
[11] With these thou dost push Aram till thou hast consumed them.’ And all the prophets are prophesying so, saying, ‘Go up to Ramath-Gilead and prosper, and Jehovah hath given it into the hand of the king.’
[12] And the messenger who hath gone to call for Micaiah hath spoken unto him, saying, ‘Lo, the words of the prophets-one mouth-are good towards the king, and let, I pray thee, thy word be like one of theirs: and thou hast spoken good.’
[13] And Micaiah saith ‘Jehovah liveth, surely that which my God saith, it I speak.’
[14] And he cometh in unto the king, and the king saith unto him, ‘Micaiah, do we go unto Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or do I forbear?’ And he saith, ‘Go ye up, and prosper, and they are given into your hand.’
[15] And the king saith unto him, ‘How many times am I adjuring thee, that thou speak unto me only truth in the name of Jehovah?’
[16] And he saith, ‘I have seen all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd, and Jehovah saith, There are no masters to these, they turn back each to his house in peace.’
[17] And the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat, ‘Did I not say unto thee, He doth not prophesy concerning me good, but rather of evil?’
[18] And he saith, ‘Therefore, hear ye a word of Jehovah: I have seen Jehovah sitting on His throne, and all the host of the heavens standing on His right and His left;
[19] and Jehovah saith, Who doth entice Ahab king of Israel, and he doth go up and fall in Ramoth-Gilead? And this speaker saith thus, and that speaker thus.
[20] And go out doth the spirit, and stand before Jehovah, and saith, I do entice him; and Jehovah saith unto him, With what?
[21] and he saith, I go out, and have become a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all his prophets. And He saith, Thou dost entice, and also, thou art able; go out and do so.
[22] And, now, lo, Jehovah hath put a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of these thy prophets, and Jehovah hath spoken concerning thee-evil.’
[23] And Zedekiah son of Chenaanah cometh nigh, and smiteth Micaiah on the cheek, and saith, ‘Where is this-the way the Spirit of Jehovah passed over from me to speak with thee?’
[24] And Micaiah saith, ‘Lo, thou dost see in that day, that thou dost enter into the innermost chamber to be hidden.’
[25] And the king of Israel saith, ‘Take ye Micaiah, and turn him back unto Amon head of the city, and unto Joash son of the king,
[26] and ye have said, Thus said the king, Put ye this one in the house of restraint, and cause him to eat bread of oppression, and water of oppression, till my return in peace.’
[27] And Micaiah saith, ‘If thou dost certainly return in peace, Jehovah hath not spoken by me;’ and he saith, ‘Hear ye, O peoples, all of them!’
[28] And the king of Israel goeth up, and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, unto Ramoth-Gilead;
[29] and the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat to disguise himself, and to go into battle, ‘And thou, put on thy garments.’ And the king of Israel disguiseth himself, and they go into battle.
[30] And the king of Aram hath commanded the heads of the charioteers whom he hath, saying, ‘Ye do not fight with small or with great, except with the king of Israel by himself.’
[31] And it cometh to pass at the heads of the charioteers seeing Jehoshaphat, that they have said, ‘The king of Israel he is,’ and they turn round against him to fight, and Jehoshaphat crieth out, and Jehovah hath helped him, and God enticeth them from him,
[32] yea, it cometh to pass, at the heads of the charioteers seeing that it hath not been the king of Israel-they turn back from after him.
[33] And a man hath drawn with a bow, in his simplicity, and smiteth the king of Israel between the joinings and the coat of mail, and he saith to the charioteer, ‘Turn thy hand, and thou hast brought me out of the camp, for I have become sick.’
[34] And the battle increaseth on that day, and the king of Israel hath been stayed up in the chariot over-against Aram till the evening, and he dieth at the time of the going in of the sun.
