μακαριος συ ισραηλ τις ομοιος σοι λαος σωζομενος υπο κυριου υπερασπιει ο βοηθος σου και η μαχαιρα καυχημα σου και ψευσονται σε οι εχθροι σου και συ επι τον τραχηλον αυτων επιβηση

Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him. The children of Israel listened to him, and did as Yahweh commanded Moses.

The king of Jericho was told, “Behold,^§ men of the children of Israel came in here tonight to spy out the land.”

Joshua said to them, “Cross before the ark of Yahweh your God into the middle of the Jordan, and each of you pick up a stone and put it on your shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel;

ειπεν αυτοις προσαγαγετε εμπροσθεν μου προ προσωπου κυριου εις μεσον του ιορδανου και ανελομενος εκειθεν εκαστος λιθον αρατω επι των ωμων αυτου κατα τον αριθμον των δωδεκα φυλων του ισραηλ

then you shall tell them, ‘Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of Yahweh’s covenant. When it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.’”

και συ δηλωσεις τω υιω σου λεγων οτι εξελιπεν ο ιορδανης ποταμος απο προσωπου κιβωτου διαθηκης κυριου πασης της γης ως διεβαινεν αυτον και εσονται οι λιθοι ουτοι υμιν μνημοσυνον τοις υιοις ισραηλ εως του αιωνος

The children of Israel did as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the middle of the Jordan, as Yahweh spoke to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel. They carried them over with them to the place where they camped, and laid them down there.

και εποιησαν ουτως οι υιοι ισραηλ καθοτι ενετειλατο κυριος τω ιησοι και λαβοντες δωδεκα λιθους εκ μεσου του ιορδανου καθαπερ συνεταξεν κυριος τω ιησοι εν τη συντελεια της διαβασεως των υιων ισραηλ και διεκομισαν αμα εαυτοις εις την παρεμβολην και απεθηκαν εκει

The children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh crossed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spoke to them.

λεγων οταν ερωτωσιν υμας οι υιοι υμων λεγοντες τι εισιν οι λιθοι ουτοι

Then you shall let your children know, saying, ‘Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.

αναγγειλατε τοις υιοις υμων οτι επι ξηρας διεβη ισραηλ τον ιορδανην

When all the kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, who were by the sea, heard how Yahweh had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, their heart melted, and there was no more spirit in them, because of the children of Israel.

And it came to pass, when all the kings H4428 of the Amorites, H567 which were on the side H5676 of Jordan H3383 westward, H3220 and all the kings H4428 of the Canaanites, H3669 which were by the sea, H3220 heard H8085 (QalInf) that the Lord H3068 had dried up H3001 (HiphPerf) the waters H4325 of Jordan H3383 from before H6440 the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 until we were passed over, H5674 (QalInf) that their heart H3824 melted, H4549 (NiphImpf) neither was there spirit H7307 in them any more, because H6440 of the children H1121 of Israel. και εγενετο ως ηκουσαν οι βασιλεις των αμορραιων οι ησαν περαν του ιορδανου και οι βασιλεις της φοινικης οι παρα την θαλασσαν οτι απεξηρανεν κυριος ο θεος τον ιορδανην ποταμον εκ των εμπροσθεν των υιων ισραηλ εν τω διαβαινειν αυτους και ετακησαν αυτων αι διανοιαι και κατεπλαγησαν και ουκ ην εν αυτοις φρονησις ουδεμια απο προσωπου των υιων ισραηλ

At that time, Yahweh said to Joshua, “Make flint knives, and circumcise again the sons of Israel the second time.”
