και ενετειλατο ο βασιλευς τω χελκια τω ιερει και τω αχικαμ υιω σαφφαν και τω αχοβωρ υιω μιχαιου και τω σαφφαν τω γραμματει και τω ασαια δουλω του βασιλεως λεγων

“Yahweh says, ‘Behold, I will bring evil on this place and on its inhabitants, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 Behold, I will bring H935 (HiphPtc) evil H7451 upon this place, H4725 and upon the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) thereof, [even] all the words H1697 of the book H5612 which the king H4428 of Judah H3063 hath read: H7121 (QalPerf)

ταδε λεγει κυριος ιδου εγω επαγω κακα επι τον τοπον τουτον και επι τους ενοικουντας αυτον παντας τους λογους του βιβλιου ους ανεγνω βασιλευς ιουδα

But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Yahweh, tell him, “Yahweh the God of Israel says, ‘Concerning the words which you have heard,

και προς βασιλεα ιουδα τον αποστειλαντα υμας επιζητησαι τον κυριον ταδε ερειτε προς αυτον ταδε λεγει κυριος ο θεος ισραηλ οι λογοι ους ηκουσας

‘Therefore behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the evil which I will bring on this place.’ ” ’ ” So they brought this message back to the king.

Behold therefore, I will gather H622 (QalActPtc) thee unto thy fathers, H1 and thou shalt be gathered H622 (NiphPerf) into thy grave H6913 in peace; H7965 and thine eyes H5869 shall not see H7200 (QalImpf) all the evil H7451 which I will bring H935 (HiphPtc) upon this place. ουχ ουτως ιδου εγω προστιθημι σε προς τους πατερας σου και συναχθηση εις τον ταφον σου εν ειρηνη και ουκ οφθησεται εν τοις οφθαλμοις σου εν πασιν τοις κακοις οις εγω ειμι επαγω επι τον τοπον τουτον και επεστρεψαν τω βασιλει το ρημα

The king sent, and they gathered to him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

And the king H4428 sent, H7971 (QalImpf) and they gathered H622 (QalImpf) unto him all the elders H2205 of Judah H3063 and of Jerusalem. H3389

και απεστειλεν ο βασιλευς και συνηγαγεν προς εαυτον παντας τους πρεσβυτερους ιουδα και ιερουσαλημ

The king went up to Yahweh’s house, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him—with the priests, the prophets, and all the people, both small and great; and he read in their hearing all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in Yahweh’s house.

και ανεβη ο βασιλευς εις οικον κυριου και πας ανηρ ιουδα και παντες οι κατοικουντες εν ιερουσαλημ μετ αυτου και οι ιερεις και οι προφηται και πας ο λαος απο μικρου και εως μεγαλου και ανεγνω εν ωσιν αυτων παντας τους λογους του βιβλιου της διαθηκης του ευρεθεντος εν οικω κυριου

The king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before Yahweh to walk after Yahweh and to keep his commandments, his testimonies, and his statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to confirm the words of this covenant that were written in this book; and all the people agreed to the covenant.

And the king H4428 stood H5975 (QalImpf) by a pillar, H5982 and made H3772 (QalImpf) a covenant H1285 before H6440 the Lord, H3068 to walk H3212 (QalInf) after H310 the Lord, H3068 and to keep H8104 (QalInf) his commandments H4687 and his testimonies H5715 and his statutes H2708 with all [their] heart H3820 and all [their] soul, H5315 to perform H6965 (HiphInf) the words H1697 of this covenant H1285 that were written H3789 (QalPasPtc) in this book. H5612 And all the people H5971 stood H5975 (QalImpf) to the covenant. H1285

και εστη ο βασιλευς προς τον στυλον και διεθετο διαθηκην ενωπιον κυριου του πορευεσθαι οπισω κυριου και του φυλασσειν τας εντολας αυτου και τα μαρτυρια αυτου και τα δικαιωματα αυτου εν παση καρδια και εν παση ψυχη του αναστησαι τους λογους της διαθηκης ταυτης τα γεγραμμενα επι το βιβλιον τουτο και εστη πας ο λαος εν τη διαθηκη

The king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the threshold, to bring out of Yahweh’s temple all the vessels that were made for Baal, for the Asherah, and for all the army of the sky; and he burned them outside of Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel.

And the king H4428 commanded H6680 (PielImpf) Hilkiah H2518 the high H1419 priest, H3548 and the priests H3548 of the second order, H4932 and the keepers H8104 (QalActPtc) of the door, H5592 to bring forth H3318 (HiphInf) out of the temple H1964 of the Lord H3068 all the vessels H3627 that were made H6213 (QalPasPtc) for Baal, H1168 and for the grove, H842 and for all the host H6635 of heaven: H8064 and he burned H8313 (QalImpf) them without H2351 Jerusalem H3389 in the fields H7709 of Kidron, H6939 and carried H5375 (QalPerf) the ashes H6083 of them unto Bethel. και ενετειλατο ο βασιλευς τω χελκια τω ιερει τω μεγαλω και τοις ιερευσιν της δευτερωσεως και τοις φυλασσουσιν τον σταθμον του εξαγαγειν εκ του ναου κυριου παντα τα σκευη τα πεποιημενα τω βααλ και τω αλσει και παση τη δυναμει του ουρανου και κατεκαυσεν αυτα εξω ιερουσαλημ εν σαδημωθ κεδρων και ελαβεν τον χουν αυτων εις βαιθηλ

He got rid of the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah and in the places around Jerusalem; those also who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, to the moon, to the planets, and to all the army of the sky.

And he put down H7673 (HiphPerf) the idolatrous priests, H3649 whom the kings H4428 of Judah H3063 had ordained H5414 (QalPerf) to burn incense H6999 (PielImpf) in the high places H1116 in the cities H5892 of Judah, H3063 and in the places round about H4524 Jerusalem; H3389 them also that burned incense H6999 (PielPtc) unto Baal, H1168 to the sun, H8121 and to the moon, H3394 and to the planets, H4208 and to all the host H6635 of heaven. και κατεπαυσεν τους χωμαριμ ους εδωκαν βασιλεις ιουδα και εθυμιων εν τοις υψηλοις και εν ταις πολεσιν ιουδα και τοις περικυκλω ιερουσαλημ και τους θυμιωντας τω βααλ και τω ηλιω και τη σεληνη και τοις μαζουρωθ και παση τη δυναμει του ουρανου

He took away the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun, at the entrance of Yahweh’s house, by the room of Nathan Melech the officer who was in the court; and he burned the chariots of the sun with fire.

And he took away H7673 (HiphImpf) the horses H5483 that the kings H4428 of Judah H3063 had given H5414 (QalPerf) to the sun, H8121 at the entering in H935 (QalInf) of the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 by the chamber H3957 of Nathanmelech H5419 the chamberlain, H5631 which [was] in the suburbs, H6503 and burned H8313 (QalPerf) the chariots H4818 of the sun H8121 with fire. και κατεπαυσεν τους ιππους ους εδωκαν βασιλεις ιουδα τω ηλιω εν τη εισοδω οικου κυριου εις το γαζοφυλακιον ναθαν βασιλεως του ευνουχου εν φαρουριμ και το αρμα του ηλιου κατεκαυσεν πυρι

The king broke down the altars that were on the roof of the upper room of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of Yahweh’s house, and beat them down from there, and cast their dust into the brook Kidron.

And the altars H4196 that [were] on the top H1406 of the upper chamber H5944 of Ahaz, H271 which the kings H4428 of Judah H3063 had made, H6213 (QalPerf) and the altars H4196 which Manasseh H4519 had made H6213 (QalPerf) in the two H8147 courts H2691 of the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 did the king H4428 beat down, H5422 (QalPerf) and brake [them] down H7323 (QalImpf) from thence, and cast H7993 (HiphPerf) the dust H6083 of them into the brook H5158 Kidron. και τα θυσιαστηρια τα επι του δωματος του υπερωου αχαζ α εποιησαν βασιλεις ιουδα και τα θυσιαστηρια α εποιησεν μανασσης εν ταις δυσιν αυλαις οικου κυριου και καθειλεν ο βασιλευς και κατεσπασεν εκειθεν και ερριψεν τον χουν αυτων εις τον χειμαρρουν κεδρων

The king defiled the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mountain of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon.

And the high places H1116 that [were] before H6440 Jerusalem, H3389 which [were] on the right hand H3225 of the mount H2022 of corruption, H4889 which Solomon H8010 the king H4428 of Israel H3478 had builded H1129 (QalPerf) for Ashtoreth H6253 the abomination H8251 of the Zidonians, H6722 and for Chemosh H3645 the abomination H8251 of the Moabites, H4124 and for Milcom H4445 the abomination H8441 of the children H1121 of Ammon, H5983 did the king H4428 defile. και τον οικον τον επι προσωπον ιερουσαλημ τον εκ δεξιων του ορους του μοσοαθ ον ωκοδομησεν σαλωμων βασιλευς ισραηλ τη ασταρτη προσοχθισματι σιδωνιων και τω χαμως προσοχθισματι μωαβ και τω μολχολ βδελυγματι υιων αμμων εμιανεν ο βασιλευς

All the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke Yahweh to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.

And all the houses H1004 also of the high places H1116 that [were] in the cities H5892 of Samaria, H8111 which the kings H4428 of Israel H3478 had made H6213 (QalPerf) to provoke [the Lord] to anger, H3707 (HiphInf) Josiah H2977 took away, H5493 (HiphPerf) and did H6213 (QalImpf) to them according to all the acts H4639 that he had done H6213 (QalPerf) in Bethel. και γε εις παντας τους οικους των υψηλων τους εν ταις πολεσιν σαμαρειας ους εποιησαν βασιλεις ισραηλ παροργιζειν κυριον απεστησεν ιωσιας και εποιησεν εν αυτοις παντα τα εργα α εποιησεν εν βαιθηλ

The king commanded all the people, saying, “Keep the Passover to Yahweh your God, as it is written in this book of the covenant.”

And the king H4428 commanded H6680 (PielImpf) all the people, H5971 saying, H559 (QalInf) Keep H6213 (QalImpv) the passover H6453 unto the Lord H3068 your God, H430 as [it is] written H3789 (QalPasPtc) in the book H5612 of this covenant. H1285

Surely there was not kept such a Passover from the days of the judges who judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;

Surely there was not holden H6213 (NiphPerf) such a passover H6453 from the days H3117 of the judges H8199 (QalActPtc) that judged H8199 (QalPerf) Israel, H3478 nor in all the days H3117 of the kings H4428 of Israel, H3478 nor of the kings H4428 of Judah; H3063

οτι ουκ εγενηθη το πασχα τουτο αφ ημερων των κριτων οι εκρινον τον ισραηλ και πασας τας ημερας βασιλεων ισραηλ και βασιλεων ιουδα

but in the eighteenth year of King Josiah, this Passover was kept to Yahweh in Jerusalem.

But in the eighteenth H8083 H6240 year H8141 of king H4428 Josiah, H2977 [wherein] this passover H6453 was holden H6213 (NiphPerf) to the Lord H3068 in Jerusalem. H3389

οτι αλλ η τω οκτωκαιδεκατω ετει του βασιλεως ιωσια εγενηθη το πασχα τω κυριω εν ιερουσαλημ

There was no king like him before him, who turned to Yahweh with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; and there was none like him who arose after him.

And like unto him was there no king H4428 before H6440 him, that turned H7725 (QalPerf) to the Lord H3068 with all his heart, H3824 and with all his soul, H5315 and with all his might, H3966 according to all the law H8451 of Moses; H4872 neither after H310 him arose H6965 (QalPerf) there [any] like him.

ομοιος αυτω ουκ εγενηθη εμπροσθεν αυτου βασιλευς ος επεστρεψεν προς κυριον εν ολη καρδια αυτου και εν ολη ψυχη αυτου και εν ολη ισχυι αυτου κατα παντα τον νομον μωυση και μετ αυτον ουκ ανεστη ομοιος αυτω

Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

In his days Pharaoh Necoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates; and King Josiah went against him, but Pharaoh Necoh killed him at Megiddo when he saw him.

In his days H3117 Pharaohnechoh H6549 king H4428 of Egypt H4714 went up H5927 (QalPerf) against the king H4428 of Assyria H804 to the river H5104 Euphrates: H6578 and king H4428 Josiah H2977 went H3212 (QalImpf) against H7125 (QalInf) him; and he slew H4191 (HiphImpf) him at Megiddo, H4023 when he had seen H7200 (QalInf) him.

In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years. Then he turned and rebelled against him.

The king of Egypt didn’t come out of his land any more; for the king of Babylon had taken, from the brook of Egypt to the river Euphrates, all that belonged to the king of Egypt.

At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.

εν τω καιρω εκεινω ανεβη ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλευς βαβυλωνος εις ιερουσαλημ και ηλθεν η πολις εν περιοχη

Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to the city while his servants were besieging it,

And Nebuchadnezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894 came H935 (QalImpf) against the city, H5892 and his servants H5650 did besiege H6696 (QalActPtc) it.

και εισηλθεν ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλευς βαβυλωνος εις την πολιν και οι παιδες αυτου επολιορκουν επ αυτην

and Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon—he, his mother, his servants, his princes, and his officers; and the king of Babylon captured him in the eighth year of his reign.

And Jehoiachin H3078 the king H4428 of Judah H3063 went out H3318 (QalImpf) to the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 he, and his mother, H517 and his servants, H5650 and his princes, H8269 and his officers: H5631 and the king H4428 of Babylon H894 took H3947 (QalImpf) him in the eighth H8083 year H8141 of his reign. και εξηλθεν ιωακιμ βασιλευς ιουδα επι βασιλεα βαβυλωνος αυτος και οι παιδες αυτου και η μητηρ αυτου και οι αρχοντες αυτου και οι ευνουχοι αυτου και ελαβεν αυτον βασιλευς βαβυλωνος εν ετει ογδοω της βασιλειας αυτου

He carried out from there all the treasures of Yahweh’s house and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in Yahweh’s temple, as Yahweh had said.

And he carried out H3318 (HiphImpf) thence all the treasures H214 of the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and the treasures H214 of the king’s H4428 house, H1004 and cut in pieces H7112 (PielImpf) all the vessels H3627 of gold H2091 which Solomon H8010 king H4428 of Israel H3478 had made H6213 (QalPerf) in the temple H1964 of the Lord, H3068 as the Lord H3068 had said. και εξηνεγκεν εκειθεν παντας τους θησαυρους οικου κυριου και τους θησαυρους οικου του βασιλεως και συνεκοψεν παντα τα σκευη τα χρυσα α εποιησεν σαλωμων βασιλευς ισραηλ εν τω ναω κυριου κατα το ρημα κυριου

He carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, with the king’s mother, the king’s wives, his officers, and the chief men of the land. He carried them into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.

And he carried away H1540 (HiphImpf) Jehoiachin H3078 to Babylon, H894 and the king’s H4428 mother, H517 and the king’s H4428 wives, H802 and his officers, H5631 and the mighty H352 (Qere) H193 of the land, H776 [those] carried H3212 (HiphPerf) he into captivity H1473 from Jerusalem H3389 to Babylon. All the men of might, even seven thousand, and the craftsmen and the smiths one thousand, all of them strong and fit for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.

And all the men H582 of might, H2428 [even] seven H7651 thousand, H505 and craftsmen H2796 and smiths H4525 a thousand, H505 all [that were] strong H1368 [and] apt H6213 (QalActPtc) for war, H4421 even them the king H4428 of Babylon H894 brought H935 (HiphImpf) captive H1473 to Babylon. H894

και παντας τους ανδρας της δυναμεως επτακισχιλιους και τον τεκτονα και τον συγκλειοντα χιλιους παντες δυνατοι ποιουντες πολεμον και ηγαγεν αυτους βασιλευς βαβυλωνος μετοικεσιαν εις βαβυλωνα

The king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s father’s brother, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

And the king H4428 of Babylon H894 made Mattaniah H4983 his father’s brother H1730 king H4427 (HiphImpf) in his stead, and changed H5437 (HiphImpf) his name H8034 to Zedekiah. H6667

και εβασιλευσεν βασιλευς βαβυλωνος τον μαθθανιαν υιον αυτου αντ αυτου και επεθηκεν το ονομα αυτου σεδεκια

For through the anger of Yahweh, this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence. Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

For through the anger H639 of the Lord H3068 it came to pass in Jerusalem H3389 and Judah, H3063 until he had cast them out H7993 (HiphPerf) from his presence, H6440 that Zedekiah H6667 rebelled H4775 (QalImpf) against the king H4428 of Babylon. H894

οτι επι τον θυμον κυριου ην επι ιερουσαλημ και εν τω ιουδα εως απερριψεν αυτους απο προσωπου αυτου και ηθετησεν σεδεκιας εν τω βασιλει βαβυλωνος

In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it; and they built forts against it around it.

και εγενηθη εν τω ετει τω ενατω της βασιλειας αυτου εν τω μηνι τω δεκατω ηλθεν ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλευς βαβυλωνος και πασα η δυναμις αυτου επι ιερουσαλημ και παρενεβαλεν επ αυτην και ωκοδομησεν επ αυτην περιτειχος κυκλω

So the city was besieged until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

και ηλθεν η πολις εν περιοχη εως του ενδεκατου ετους του βασιλεως σεδεκιου

Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden (now the Chaldeans were against the city around it); and the king went by the way of the Arabah.

And the city H5892 was broken up, H1234 (NiphImpf) and all the men H582 of war H4421 [fled] by night H3915 by the way H1870 of the gate H8179 between two walls, H2346 which [is] by the king’s H4428 garden: H1588 (now the Chaldees H3778 [were] against the city H5892 round about: H5439) and [the king] went H3212 (QalImpf) the way H1870 toward the plain. και ερραγη η πολις και παντες οι ανδρες του πολεμου εξηλθον νυκτος οδον πυλης της ανα μεσον των τειχεων αυτη η εστιν του κηπου του βασιλεως και οι χαλδαιοι επι την πολιν κυκλω και επορευθη οδον την αραβα

But the Chaldean army pursued the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

And the army H2428 of the Chaldees H3778 pursued H7291 (QalImpf) after H310 the king, H4428 and overtook H5381 (HiphImpf) him in the plains H6160 of Jericho: H3405 and all his army H2428 were scattered H6327 (NiphPerf) from him.

και εδιωξεν η δυναμις των χαλδαιων οπισω του βασιλεως και κατελαβον αυτον εν αραβωθ ιεριχω και πασα η δυναμις αυτου διεσπαρη επανωθεν αυτου

Then they captured the king and carried him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they passed judgment on him.

So they took H8610 (QalImpf) the king, H4428 and brought him up H5927 (HiphImpf) to the king H4428 of Babylon H894 to Riblah; H7247 and they gave H1696 (PielImpf) judgment H4941 upon him.

και συνελαβον τον βασιλεα και ηγαγον αυτον προς τον βασιλεα βαβυλωνος εις δεβλαθα και ελαλησεν μετ αυτου κρισιν

Now in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem.

και εν τω μηνι τω πεμπτω εβδομη του μηνος αυτος ενιαυτος εννεακαιδεκατος τω ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλει βαβυλωνος ηλθεν ναβουζαρδαν ο αρχιμαγειρος εστως ενωπιον βασιλεως βαβυλωνος εις ιερουσαλημ

He burned Yahweh’s house, the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem. He burned every great house with fire.

And he burnt H8313 (QalImpf) the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and the king’s H4428 house, H1004 and all the houses H1004 of Jerusalem, H3389 and every great H1419 [man’s] house H1004 burnt H8313 (QalPerf) he with fire. H784

και ενεπρησεν τον οικον κυριου και τον οικον του βασιλεως και παντας τους οικους ιερουσαλημ και παν οικον ενεπρησεν

Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive the rest of the people who were left in the city and those who had deserted to the king of Babylon—all the rest of the multitude.

και το περισσον του λαου το καταλειφθεν εν τη πολει και τους εμπεπτωκοτας οι ενεπεσον προς βασιλεα βαβυλωνος και το λοιπον του στηριγματος μετηρεν ναβουζαρδαν ο αρχιμαγειρος

and out of the city he took an officer who was set over the men of war; and five men of those who saw the king’s face, who were found in the city; and the scribe, the captain of the army, who mustered the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land who were found in the city.

και εκ της πολεως ελαβεν ευνουχον ενα ος ην επιστατης επι των ανδρων των πολεμιστων και πεντε ανδρας των ορωντων το προσωπον του βασιλεως τους ευρεθεντας εν τη πολει και τον γραμματεα του αρχοντος της δυναμεως τον εκτασσοντα τον λαον της γης και εξηκοντα ανδρας του λαου της γης τους ευρεθεντας εν τη πολει

Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.

And Nebuzaradan H5018 captain H7227 of the guard H2876 took H3947 (QalImpf) these, and brought H3212 (HiphImpf) them to the king H4428 of Babylon H894 to Riblah: H7247

και ελαβεν αυτους ναβουζαρδαν ο αρχιμαγειρος και απηγαγεν αυτους προς τον βασιλεα βαβυλωνος εις δεβλαθα

The king of Babylon attacked them and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away captive out of his land.

και επαισεν αυτους βασιλευς βαβυλωνος και εθανατωσεν αυτους εν δεβλαθα εν γη αιμαθ και απωκισθη ιουδας επανωθεν της γης αυτου

As for the people who were left in the land of Judah whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, governor.

και ο λαος ο καταλειφθεις εν γη ιουδα ους κατελιπεν ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλευς βαβυλωνος και κατεστησεν επ αυτων τον γοδολιαν υιον αχικαμ υιου σαφαν

Now when all the captains of the forces, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, Johanan the son of Kareah, Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

And when all the captains H8269 of the armies, H2428 they and their men, H582 heard H8085 (QalImpf) that the king H4428 of Babylon H894 had made Gedaliah H1436 governor, H6485 (HiphPerf) there came H935 (QalImpf) to Gedaliah H1436 to Mizpah, H4709 even Ishmael H3458 the son H1121 of Nethaniah, H5418 and Johanan H3110 the son H1121 of Careah, H7143 and Seraiah H8304 the son H1121 of Tanhumeth H8576 the Netophathite, H5200 and Jaazaniah H2970 the son H1121 of a Maachathite, H4602 they and their men. και ηκουσαν παντες οι αρχοντες της δυναμεως αυτοι και οι ανδρες αυτων οτι κατεστησεν βασιλευς βαβυλωνος τον γοδολιαν και ηλθον προς γοδολιαν εις μασσηφαθ και ισμαηλ υιος ναθανιου και ιωαναν υιος καρηε και σαραιας υιος θανεμαθ ο νετωφαθιτης και ιεζονιας υιος του μαχαθι αυτοι και οι ανδρες αυτων

Gedaliah swore to them and to their men, and said to them, “Don’t be afraid because of the servants of the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.”

και ωμοσεν γοδολιας αυτοις και τοις ανδρασιν αυτων και ειπεν αυτοις μη φοβεισθε παροδον των χαλδαιων καθισατε εν τη γη και δουλευσατε τω βασιλει βαβυλωνος και καλως εσται υμιν

In the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, Evilmerodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, released Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison,

και εγενηθη εν τω τριακοστω και εβδομω ετει της αποικεσιας του ιωακιμ βασιλεως ιουδα εν τω δωδεκατω μηνι εβδομη και εικαδι του μηνος υψωσεν ευιλμαρωδαχ βασιλευς βαβυλωνος εν τω ενιαυτω της βασιλειας αυτου την κεφαλην ιωακιμ βασιλεως ιουδα και εξηγαγεν αυτον εξ οικου φυλακης αυτου

and he spoke kindly to him and set his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon,

και ελαλησεν μετ αυτου αγαθα και εδωκεν τον θρονον αυτου επανωθεν των θρονων των βασιλεων των μετ αυτου εν βαβυλωνι

and for his allowance, there was a continual allowance given him from the king, every day a portion, all the days of his life.
