You were wearied with the length of your ways; yet you didn’t say, ‘It is in vain.’ You found a reviving of your strength; therefore you weren’t faint.

Therefore justice is far from us, and righteousness doesn’t overtake us. We look for light, but see darkness; for brightness, but we walk in obscurity.

Then Yahweh said to me, “You have seen well; for I watch over my word to perform it.”

For behold, I have made you today a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, against its princes, against its priests, and against the people of the land.

“Tell the nations, behold, publish against Jerusalem, ‘Watchers come from a far country, and raise their voice against the cities of Judah.

“Prepare war against her! Arise! Let’s go up at noon. Woe to us! For the day declines, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.

For Yahweh of Armies said, “Cut down trees, and cast up a mound against Jerusalem. This is the city to be visited. She is filled with oppression within herself.

οτι ταδε λεγει κυριος εκκοψον τα ξυλα αυτης εκχεον επι ιερουσαλημ δυναμιν ω πολις ψευδης ολη καταδυναστεια εν αυτη

As a well produces its waters, so she produces her wickedness. Violence and destruction is heard in her. Sickness and wounds are continually before me.

τοξον και ζιβυνην κρατησουσιν ιταμος εστιν και ουκ ελεησει φωνη αυτου ως θαλασσα κυμαινουσα εφ ιπποις και αρμασιν παραταξεται ως πυρ εις πολεμον προς σε θυγατερ σιων

οτι ουκ ελαλησα προς τους πατερας υμων και ουκ ενετειλαμην αυτοις εν ημερα η ανηγαγον αυτους εκ γης αιγυπτου περι ολοκαυτωματων και θυσιας

I listened and heard, but they didn’t say what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, saying, “What have I done?” Everyone turns to his course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.

ενωτισασθε δη και ακουσατε ουχ ουτως λαλησουσιν ουκ εστιν ανθρωπος μετανοων απο της κακιας αυτου λεγων τι εποιησα διελιπεν ο τρεχων απο του δρομου αυτου ως ιππος καθιδρος εν χρεμετισμω αυτου

“Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves! Let’s enter into the fortified cities, and let’s be silent there; for Yahweh our God has put us to silence, and given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against Yahweh.

επι τι ημεις καθημεθα συναχθητε και εισελθωμεν εις τας πολεις τας οχυρας και απορριφωμεν οτι ο θεος απερριψεν ημας και εποτισεν ημας υδωρ χολης οτι ημαρτομεν εναντιον αυτου

Who is wise enough to understand this? Who is he to whom the mouth of Yahweh has spoken, that he may declare it? Why has the land perished and burned up like a wilderness, so that no one passes through?

Who [is] the wise H2450 man, H376 that may understand H995 (QalImpf) this? and [who is he] to whom the mouth H6310 of the Lord H3068 hath spoken, H1696 (PielPerf) that he may declare H5046 (HiphImpf) it, for what the land H776 perisheth H6 (QalPerf) [and] is burned up H3341 (NiphPerf) like a wilderness, H4057 that none passeth through? ^[9:11] τις ο ανθρωπος ο συνετος και συνετω τουτο και ω λογος στοματος κυριου προς αυτον αναγγειλατω υμιν ενεκεν τινος απωλετο η γη ανηφθη ως ερημος παρα το μη διοδευεσθαι αυτην

Yahweh says, “Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice or walked in my ways,

Woe is me because of my injury! My wound is serious; but I said, “Truly this is my grief, and I must bear it.”

ουαι επι συντριμματι σου αλγηρα η πληγη σου καγω ειπα οντως τουτο το τραυμα μου και κατελαβεν με

For the shepherds have become brutish, and have not inquired of Yahweh. Therefore they have not prospered, and all their flocks have scattered.

οτι οι ποιμενες ηφρονευσαντο και τον κυριον ουκ εξεζητησαν δια τουτο ουκ ενοησεν πασα η νομη και διεσκορπισθησαν

For Yahweh of Armies, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you, because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done to themselves in provoking me to anger by offering incense to Baal.

But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter. I didn’t know that they had devised plans against me, saying, “Let’s destroy the tree with its fruit, and let’s cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.”

δια τουτο ταδε λεγει κυριος επι τους ανδρας αναθωθ τους ζητουντας την ψυχην μου τους λεγοντας ου μη προφητευσης επι τω ονοματι κυριου ει δε μη αποθανη εν ταις χερσιν ημων

My heritage has become to me as a lion in the forest. She has uttered her voice against me. Therefore I have hated her.

Is my heritage to me as a speckled bird of prey? Are the birds of prey against her all around? Go, assemble all the animals of the field. Bring them to devour.
