οτι ταδε λεγει κυριος περι παντων των γειτονων των πονηρων των απτομενων της κληρονομιας μου ης εμερισα τω λαω μου ισραηλ ιδου εγω αποσπω αυτους απο της γης αυτων και τον ιουδαν εκβαλω εκ μεσου αυτων

Yahweh said to me, “Go, and buy yourself a linen belt, and put it on your waist, and don’t put it in water.”

ταδε λεγει κυριος βαδισον και κτησαι σεαυτω περιζωμα λινουν και περιθου περι την οσφυν σου και εν υδατι ου διελευσεται

So I bought a belt according to Yahweh’s word, and put it on my waist.

και εκτησαμην το περιζωμα κατα τον λογον κυριου και περιεθηκα περι την οσφυν μου

“Take the belt that you have bought, which is on your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.”

What will you say when he sets over you as head those whom you have yourself taught to be friends to you? Won’t sorrows take hold of you, as of a woman in travail?

τι ερεις οταν επισκεπτωνται σε και συ εδιδαξας αυτους επι σε μαθηματα εις αρχην ουκ ωδινες καθεξουσιν σε καθως γυναικα τικτουσαν

καγω αποκαλυψω τα οπισω σου επι το προσωπον σου και οφθησεται η ατιμια σου

Therefore Yahweh says concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, but I didn’t send them, yet they say, ‘Sword and famine will not be in this land.’ Those prophets will be consumed by sword and famine.

Yahweh, you know. Remember me, visit me, and avenge me of my persecutors. You are patient, so don’t take me away. Know that for your sake I have suffered reproach.

It will happen, when you tell this people all these words, and they ask you, ‘Why has Yahweh pronounced all this great evil against us?’ or ‘What is our iniquity?’ or ‘What is our sin that we have committed against Yahweh our God?’

και εσται οταν αναγγειλης τω λαω τουτω απαντα τα ρηματα ταυτα και ειπωσιν προς σε δια τι ελαλησεν κυριος εφ ημας παντα τα κακα ταυτα τις η αδικια ημων και τις η αμαρτια ημων ην ημαρτομεν εναντι κυριου του θεου ημων

then you shall tell them, ‘Because your fathers have forsaken me,’ says Yahweh, ‘and have walked after other gods, have served them, have worshiped them, have forsaken me, and have not kept my law.

και ερεις αυτοις ανθ ων εγκατελιπον με οι πατερες υμων λεγει κυριος και ωχοντο οπισω θεων αλλοτριων και εδουλευσαν αυτοις και προσεκυνησαν αυτοις και εμε εγκατελιπον και τον νομον μου ουκ εφυλαξαντο

First I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable things, and have filled my inheritance with their abominations.”

At the instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it,

περας λαλησω επι εθνος η επι βασιλειαν του εξαραι αυτους και του απολλυειν

if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them.

If that nation, H1471 against whom I have pronounced, H1696 (PielPerf) turn H7725 (QalPerf) from their evil, H7451 I will repent H5162 (NiphPerf) of the evil H7451 that I thought H2803 (QalPerf) to do H6213 (QalInf) unto them.

και επιστραφη το εθνος εκεινο απο παντων των κακων αυτων και μετανοησω περι των κακων ων ελογισαμην του ποιησαι αυτοις

At the instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it,

και περας λαλησω επι εθνος και επι βασιλειαν του ανοικοδομεισθαι και του καταφυτευεσθαι

“Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Yahweh says: “Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a plan against you. Everyone return from his evil way now, and amend your ways and your doings.” ’

Should evil be recompensed for good? For they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.

ει ανταποδιδοται αντι αγαθων κακα οτι συνελαλησαν ρηματα κατα της ψυχης μου και την κολασιν αυτων εκρυψαν μοι μνησθητι εστηκοτος μου κατα προσωπον σου του λαλησαι υπερ αυτων αγαθα του αποστρεψαι τον θυμον σου απ αυτων

Yet, Yahweh, you know all their counsel against me to kill me. Don’t forgive their iniquity. Don’t blot out their sin from your sight, Let them be overthrown before you. Deal with them in the time of your anger.

Yet, Lord, H3068 thou knowest H3045 (QalPerf) all their counsel H6098 against me to slay H4194 [me]: forgive H3722 (PielImpf) not their iniquity, H5771 neither blot out H4229 (HiphImpf) their sin H2403 from thy sight, H6440 but let them be overthrown H3782 (HophPtc) before H6440 thee; deal H6213 (QalImpv) [thus] with them in the time H6256 of thine anger. και συ κυριε εγνως απασαν την βουλην αυτων επ εμε εις θανατον μη αθωωσης τας αδικιας αυτων και τας αμαρτιας αυτων απο προσωπου σου μη εξαλειψης γενεσθω η ασθενεια αυτων εναντιον σου εν καιρω θυμου σου ποιησον εν αυτοις

I will make this city an astonishment and a hissing. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss because of all its plagues.

και ταξω την πολιν ταυτην εις αφανισμον και εις συριγμον πας ο παραπορευομενος επ αυτης σκυθρωπασει και συριει υπερ πασης της πληγης αυτης

“Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says, ‘Behold, I will bring on this city and on all its towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have made their neck stiff, that they may not hear my words.’ ”

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Behold, I will bring H935 (HiphPtc) upon this city H5892 and upon all her towns H5892 all the evil H7451 that I have pronounced H1696 (PielPerf) against it, because they have hardened H7185 (HiphPerf) their necks, H6203 that they might not hear H8085 (QalInf) my words. ταδε λεγει κυριος ιδου εγω επαγω επι την πολιν ταυτην και επι πασας τας πολεις αυτης και επι τας κωμας αυτης απαντα τα κακα α ελαλησα επ αυτην οτι εσκληρυναν τον τραχηλον αυτων του μη εισακουειν των λογων μου

But Yahweh is with me as an awesome mighty one. Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and they won’t prevail. They will be utterly disappointed because they have not dealt wisely, even with an everlasting dishonor which will never be forgotten.

και κυριος μετ εμου καθως μαχητης ισχυων δια τουτο εδιωξαν και νοησαι ουκ ηδυναντο ησχυνθησαν σφοδρα οτι ουκ ενοησαν ατιμιας αυτων αι δι αιωνος ουκ επιλησθησονται

“Please inquire of Yahweh for us; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us. Perhaps Yahweh will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may withdraw from us.”

επερωτησον περι ημων τον κυριον οτι βασιλευς βαβυλωνος εφεστηκεν εφ ημας ει ποιησει κυριος κατα παντα τα θαυμασια αυτου και απελευσεται αφ ημων

‘Yahweh, the God of Israel says, “Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans who besiege you outside the walls; and I will gather them into the middle of this city.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 God H430 of Israel; H3478 Behold, I will turn back H5437 (HiphPtc) the weapons H3627 of war H4421 that [are] in your hands, H3027 wherewith ye fight H3898 (NiphPtc) against the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and [against] the Chaldeans, H3778 which besiege H6696 (QalActPtc) you without H2351 the walls, H2346 and I will assemble H622 (QalPerf) them into the midst H8432 of this city. ο καθημενος εν τη πολει ταυτη αποθανειται εν μαχαιρα και εν λιμω και ο εκπορευομενος προσχωρησαι προς τους χαλδαιους τους συγκεκλεικοτας υμας ζησεται και εσται η ψυχη αυτου εις σκυλα και ζησεται

Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, and of the rock of the plain,’ says Yahweh. ‘You that say, “Who would come down against us?” or, “Who would enter into our homes?”

οτι ταδε λεγει κυριος κατα του οικου βασιλεως ιουδα γαλααδ συ μοι αρχη του λιβανου εαν μη θω σε εις ερημον πολεις μη κατοικηθησομενας

I will prepare destroyers against you, everyone with his weapons, and they will cut down your choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.

“Many nations will pass by this city, and they will each ask his neighbor, ‘Why has Yahweh done this to this great city?’

και διελευσονται εθνη δια της πολεως ταυτης και ερουσιν εκαστος προς τον πλησιον αυτου δια τι εποιησεν κυριος ουτως τη πολει τη μεγαλη ταυτη

Then they will answer, ‘Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh their God, worshiped other gods, and served them.’ ”

και ερουσιν ανθ ων εγκατελιπον την διαθηκην κυριου θεου αυτων και προσεκυνησαν θεοις αλλοτριοις και εδουλευσαν αυτοις

Therefore Yahweh, the God of Israel, says against the shepherds who feed my people: “You have scattered my flock, driven them away, and have not visited them. Behold, I will visit on you the evil of your doings,” says Yahweh.

δια τουτο ταδε λεγει κυριος επι τους ποιμαινοντας τον λαον μου υμεις διεσκορπισατε τα προβατα μου και εξωσατε αυτα και ουκ επεσκεψασθε αυτα ιδου εγω εκδικω εφ υμας κατα τα πονηρα επιτηδευματα υμων

I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them. They will no longer be afraid or dismayed, neither will any be lacking,” says Yahweh.

Therefore Yahweh of Armies says concerning the prophets: “Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink poisoned water; for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone out into all the land.”

“Therefore behold, I am against the prophets,” says Yahweh, “who each steal my words from his neighbor.

Behold, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams,” says Yahweh, “who tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their vain boasting; yet I didn’t send them or command them. They don’t profit this people at all,” says Yahweh.

I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

I will bring on that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations.

For, behold, I begin to work evil at the city which is called by my name; and should you be utterly unpunished? You will not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth, says Yahweh of Armies.” ’

“Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and tell them, “ ‘Yahweh will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation. He will mightily roar against his fold. He will give a shout, as those who tread grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

Now therefore amend your ways and your doings, and obey Yahweh your God’s voice; then Yahweh will relent from the evil that he has pronounced against you.

Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? Didn’t he fear Yahweh, and entreat the favor of Yahweh, and Yahweh relented of the disaster which he had pronounced against them? We would commit great evil against our own souls that way!”

There was also a man who prophesied in Yahweh’s name, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath Jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.
