Jeremiah 13 (WEBP)
[1] Yahweh said to me, “Go, and buy yourself a linen belt, and put it on your waist, and don’t put it in water.”
[2] So I bought a belt according to Yahweh’s word, and put it on my waist.
[3] Yahweh’s word came to me the second time, saying,
[4] “Take the belt that you have bought, which is on your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.”
[5] So I went and hid it by the Euphrates, as Yahweh commanded me.
[6] After many days, Yahweh said to me, “Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take the belt from there, which I commanded you to hide there.”
[7] Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and took the belt from the place where I had hidden it; and behold, the belt was ruined. It was profitable for nothing.
[8] Then Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,
[9] “Yahweh says, ‘In this way I will ruin the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.
[10] This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and have gone after other gods to serve them and to worship them, will even be as this belt, which is profitable for nothing.
[11] For as the belt clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to me,’ says Yahweh; ‘that they may be to me for a people, for a name, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’
[12] “Therefore you shall speak to them this word: ‘Yahweh, the God of Israel says, “Every container should be filled with wine.” ’ They will tell you, ‘Do we not certainly know that every container should be filled with wine?’
[13] Then tell them, ‘Yahweh says, “Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings who sit on David’s throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.
[14] I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together,” says Yahweh: “I will not pity, spare, or have compassion, that I should not destroy them.” ’ ”
[15] Hear, and give ear. Don’t be proud, for Yahweh has spoken.
[16] Give glory to Yahweh your God, before he causes darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and while you look for light, he turns it into the shadow of death, and makes it deep darkness.
[17] But if you will not hear it, my soul will weep in secret for your pride. My eye will weep bitterly, and run down with tears, because Yahweh’s flock has been taken captive.
[18] Say to the king and to the queen mother, “Humble yourselves. Sit down, for your crowns have come down, even the crown of your glory.
[19] The cities of the South are shut up, and there is no one to open them. Judah is carried away captive: all of them. They are wholly carried away captive.
[20] Lift up your eyes, and see those who come from the north. Where is the flock that was given to you, your beautiful flock?
[21] What will you say when he sets over you as head those whom you have yourself taught to be friends to you? Won’t sorrows take hold of you, as of a woman in travail?
[22] If you say in your heart, “Why have these things come on me?” Your skirts are uncovered because of the greatness of your iniquity, and your heels suffer violence.
[23] Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then may you also do good, who are accustomed to do evil.
[24] “Therefore I will scatter them as the stubble that passes away by the wind of the wilderness.
[25] This is your lot, the portion measured to you from me,” says Yahweh, “because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.”
[26] Therefore I will also uncover your skirts on your face, and your shame will appear.
[27] I have seen your abominations, even your adulteries and your neighing, the lewdness of your prostitution, on the hills in the field. Woe to you, Jerusalem! You will not be made clean. How long will it yet be?”

Jeremiah 13 (KJVS)
[1] Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068 unto me, Go H1980 (8800) and get H7069 (8804) thee a linen H6593 girdle H232, and put H7760 (8804) it upon thy loins H4975, and put H935 (8686) it not in water H4325.
[2] So I got H7069 (8799) a girdle H232 according to the word H1697 of the LORD H3068, and put H7760 (8799) [it] on my loins H4975.
[3] And the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 came unto me the second time H8145, saying H559 (8800),
[4] Take H3947 (8798) the girdle H232 that thou hast got H7069 (8804), which [is] upon thy loins H4975, and arise H6965 (8798), go H3212 (8798) to Euphrates H6578, and hide H2934 (8798) it there in a hole H5357 of the rock H5553.
[5] So I went H3212 (8799), and hid H2934 (8799) it by Euphrates H6578, as the LORD H3068 commanded H6680 (8765) me.
[6] And it came to pass after H7093 many H7227 days H3117, that the LORD H3068 said H559 (8799) unto me, Arise H6965 (8798), go H3212 (8798) to Euphrates H6578, and take H3947 (8798) the girdle H232 from thence, which I commanded H6680 (8765) thee to hide H2934 (8800) there.
[7] Then I went H3212 (8799) to Euphrates H6578, and digged H2658 (8799), and took H3947 (8799) the girdle H232 from the place H4725 where I had hid H2934 (8804) it: and, behold, the girdle H232 was marred H7843 (8738), it was profitable H6743 (8799) for nothing.
[8] Then the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 came unto me, saying H559 (8800),
[9] Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068, After this manner will I mar H7843 (8686) the pride H1347 of Judah H3063, and the great H7227 pride H1347 of Jerusalem H3389.
[10] This evil H7451 people H5971, which refuse H3987 to hear H8085 (8800) my words H1697, which walk H1980 (8802) in the imagination H8307 of their heart H3820, and walk H3212 (8799) after H310 other H312 gods H430, to serve H5647 (8800) them, and to worship H7812 (8692) them, shall even be as this girdle H232, which is good H6743 (8799) for nothing.
[11] For as the girdle H232 cleaveth H1692 (8799) to the loins H4975 of a man H376, so have I caused to cleave H1692 (8689) unto me the whole house H1004 of Israel H3478 and the whole house H1004 of Judah H3063, saith H5002 (8803) the LORD H3068; that they might be unto me for a people H5971, and for a name H8034, and for a praise H8416, and for a glory H8597: but they would not hear H8085 (8804).
[12] Therefore thou shalt speak H559 (8804) unto them this word H1697; Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel H3478, Every bottle H5035 shall be filled H4390 (8735) with wine H3196: and they shall say H559 (8804) unto thee, Do we not certainly H3045 (8800) know H3045 (8799) that every bottle H5035 shall be filled H4390 (8735) with wine H3196?
[13] Then shalt thou say H559 (8804) unto them, Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068, Behold, I will fill H4390 (8764) all the inhabitants H3427 (8802) of this land H776, even the kings H4428 that sit H3427 (8802) upon David’s H1732 throne H3678, and the priests H3548, and the prophets H5030, and all the inhabitants H3427 (8802) of Jerusalem H3389, with drunkenness H7943.
[14] And I will dash H5310 (8765) them one H376 against another H251, even the fathers H1 and the sons H1121 together H3162, saith H5002 (8803) the LORD H3068: I will not pity H2550 (8799), nor spare H2347 (8799), nor have mercy H7355 (8762), but destroy H7843 (8687) them.
[15] Hear H8085 (8798) ye, and give ear H238 (8685); be not proud H1361 (8799): for the LORD H3068 hath spoken H1696 (8765).
[16] Give H5414 (8798) glory H3519 to the LORD H3068 your God H430, before he cause darkness H2821 (8686), and before your feet H7272 stumble H5062 (8691) upon the dark H5399 mountains H2022, and, while ye look H6960 (8765) for light H216, he turn H7760 (8804) it into the shadow of death H6757, [and] make H7896 (8798) (8675) H7896 (8799) [it] gross darkness H6205.
[17] But if ye will not hear H8085 (8799) it, my soul H5315 shall weep H1058 (8799) in secret places H4565 for H6440 [your] pride H1466; and mine eye H5869 shall weep H1830 (8799) sore H1830 (8800), and run down H3381 (8799) with tears H1832, because the LORD’S H3068 flock H5739 is carried away captive H7617 (8738).
[18] Say H559 (8798) unto the king H4428 and to the queen H1377, Humble H8213 (8685) yourselves, sit down H3427 (8798): for your principalities H4761 shall come down H3381 (8804), [even] the crown H5850 of your glory H8597.
[19] The cities H5892 of the south H5045 shall be shut up H5462 (8795), and none shall open H6605 (8802) [them]: Judah H3063 shall be carried away captive H1540 (8717) all of it, it shall be wholly H7965 carried away captive H1540 (8717).
[20] Lift up H5375 (8798) your eyes H5869, and behold H7200 (8798) them that come H935 (8802) from the north H6828: where [is] the flock H5739 [that] was given H5414 (8738) thee, thy beautiful H8597 flock H6629?
[21] What wilt thou say H559 (8799) when he shall punish H6485 (8799) thee? for thou hast taught H3925 (8765) them [to be] captains H441, [and] as chief H7218 over thee: shall not sorrows H2256 take H270 (8799) thee, as a woman H802 in travail H3205 (8800)?
[22] And if thou say H559 (8799) in thine heart H3824, Wherefore come H7122 (8804) these things upon me? For the greatness H7230 of thine iniquity H5771 are thy skirts H7757 discovered H1540 (8738), [and] thy heels H6119 made bare H2554 (8738).
[23] Can the Ethiopian H3569 change H2015 (8799) his skin H5785, or the leopard H5246 his spots H2272? [then] may H3201 (8799) ye also do good H3190 (8687), that are accustomed H3928 to do evil H7489 (8687).
[24] Therefore will I scatter H6327 (8686) them as the stubble H7179 that passeth away H5674 (8802) by the wind H7307 of the wilderness H4057.
[25] This [is] thy lot H1486, the portion H4490 of thy measures H4055 from me, saith H5002 (8803) the LORD H3068; because thou hast forgotten H7911 (8804) me, and trusted H982 (8799) in falsehood H8267.
[26] Therefore will I discover H2834 (8804) thy skirts H7757 upon thy face H6440, that thy shame H7036 may appear H7200 (8738).
[27] I have seen H7200 (8804) thine adulteries H5004, and thy neighings H4684, the lewdness H2154 of thy whoredom H2184, [and] thine abominations H8251 on the hills H1389 in the fields H7704. Woe H188 unto thee, O Jerusalem H3389! wilt thou not be made clean H2891 (8799)? when [shall it] once H5750 H310 [be]?
Young’s Literal Translation
Jeremiah 13 (YLT)
[1] Thus said Jehovah unto me, ‘Go, and thou hast got for thee a girdle of linen, and hast placed it on thy loins, and into water thou dost not cause it to enter:’
[2] and I get the girdle, according to the word of Jehovah, and I place it on my loins.
[3] And there is a word of Jehovah unto me a second time, saying,
[4] ‘Take the girdle that thou hast got, that is on thy loins, and rise, go to Phrat, and hide it there in a hole of the rock;
[5] and I go and hide it by Phrat, as Jehovah commanded me.
[6] And it cometh to pass, at the end of many days, that Jehovah saith unto me, ‘Rise, go to Phrat, and take thence the girdle, that I commanded thee to hide there;’
[7] and I go to Phrat, and dig, and take the girdle from the place where I had hid it; and lo, the girdle hath been marred, it is not profitable for anything.
[8] And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying, ‘Thus said Jehovah:
[9] Thus do I mar the excellency of Judah, And the great excellency of Jerusalem.
[10] This evil people, who refuse to hear My words, Who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, And go after other gods to serve them, And to bow themselves to them, Yea it is-as this girdle, that is not profitable for anything.
[11] For, as the girdle cleaveth unto the loins of a man, So I caused to cleave unto Me The whole house of Israel, And the whole house of Judah, an affirmation of Jehovah, To be to Me for a people, and for a name, And for praise, and for beauty, And they have not hearkened.
[12] And thou hast said unto them this word, Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, ‘Every bottle is full of wine,’ And they have said unto thee: ‘Do we not certainly know that every bottle is full of wine?’
[13] And thou hast said unto them, ‘Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am filling all the inhabitants of this land, And the kings who sit for David on his throne, And the priests, and the prophets, And all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, With drunkenness,
[14] And have dashed them one against another, And the fathers and the sons together, An affirmation of Jehovah, I do not pity, nor spare, nor have I mercy, So as not to destroy them.
[15] Hear, and give ear-be not haughty, For Jehovah hath spoken.
[16] Give ye to Jehovah your God honour, Before He doth cause darkness, And before your feet stumble on dark mountains, And ye have waited for light, And He hath made it for death-shade, And hath appointed it for thick darkness.
[17] And if ye do not hear it, In secret places doth my soul weep, because of pride, Yea, it weepeth sore, And the tear cometh down mine eyes, For the flock of Jehovah hath been taken captive.
[18] Say to the king and to the mistress: Make yourselves low-sit still, For come down have your principalities, The crown of your beauty.
[19] The cities of the south have been shut up, And there is none opening, Judah hath been removed-all of her, She hath been removed completely-
[20] Lift up your eyes, and see those coming in from the north, Where is the drove given to thee, thy beautiful flock?
[21] What dost thou say, when He looketh after thee? And thou-thou hast taught them to be over thee-leaders for head? Do not pangs seize thee as a travailing woman?
[22] And when thou dost say in thy heart, ‘Wherefore have these met me?’ For the abundance of thine iniquity Have thy skirts been uncovered, Have thy heels suffered violence.
[23] Doth a Cushite change his skin? and a leopard his spots? Ye also are able to do good, who are accustomed to do evil.
[24] And I scatter them as stubble, Passing away, by a wind of the wilderness.
[25] This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from Me-an affirmation of Jehovah, Because thou hast forgotten me, And dost trust in falsehood.
[26] I also have made bare thy skirts before thy face, And thy shame hath been seen.
[27] Thine adulteries, and thy neighings, The wickedness of thy whoredom, on heights in a field, I have seen thine abominations. Woe to thee, O Jerusalem, Thou art not cleansed, after when is it again?
