Jeremiah 36 (WEBP)
[1] In the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,
[2] “Take a scroll of a book, and write in it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah even to this day.
[3] It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I intend to do to them, that they may each return from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.”
[4] Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all Yahweh’s words, which he had spoken to him, on a scroll of a book.
[5] Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, “I am restricted. I can’t go into Yahweh’s house.
[6] Therefore you go, and read from the scroll which you have written from my mouth, Yahweh’s words, in the ears of the people in Yahweh’s house on the fast day. Also you shall read them in the ears of all Judah who come out of their cities.
[7] It may be they will present their supplication before Yahweh, and will each return from his evil way; for Yahweh has pronounced great anger and wrath against this people.”
[8] Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book Yahweh’s words in Yahweh’s house.
[9] Now in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem, proclaimed a fast before Yahweh.
[10] Then Baruch read the words of Jeremiah from the book in Yahweh’s house, in the room of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of Yahweh’s house, in the ears of all the people.
[11] When Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all Yahweh’s words,
[12] he went down into the king’s house, into the scribe’s room; and behold, all the princes were sitting there, Elishama the scribe, Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, Elnathan the son of Achbor, Gemariah the son of Shaphan, Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.
[13] Then Micaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.
[14] Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, “Take in your hand the scroll in which you have read in the ears of the people, and come.” So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand, and came to them.
[15] They said to him, “Sit down now, and read it in our hearing.” So Baruch read it in their hearing.
[16] Now when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said to Baruch, “We will surely tell the king of all these words.”
[17] They asked Baruch, saying, “Tell us now, how did you write all these words at his mouth?”
[18] Then Baruch answered them, “He dictated all these words to me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.”
[19] Then the princes said to Baruch, “You and Jeremiah go hide. Don’t let anyone know where you are.”
[20] They went in to the king into the court, but they had laid up the scroll in the room of Elishama the scribe. Then they told all the words in the hearing of the king.
[21] So the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and he took it out of the room of Elishama the scribe. Jehudi read it in the hearing of the king, and in the hearing of all the princes who stood beside the king.
[22] Now the king was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month, and there was a fire in the brazier burning before him.
[23] When Jehudi had read three or four columns, the king cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.
[24] The king and his servants who heard all these words were not afraid, and didn’t tear their garments.
[25] Moreover Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the scroll; but he would not listen to them.
[26] The king commanded Jerahmeel the king’s son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to arrest Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but Yahweh hid them.
[27] Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, after the king had burned the scroll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
[28] “Take again another scroll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first scroll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.
[29] Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, ‘Yahweh says: “You have burned this scroll, saying, ‘Why have you written therein, saying, “The king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will cause to cease from there man and animal”?’ ”
[30] Therefore Yahweh says concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: “He will have no one to sit on David’s throne. His dead body will be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.
[31] I will punish him, his offspring, and his servants for their iniquity. I will bring on them, on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they didn’t listen.” ’ ”
[32] Then Jeremiah took another scroll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and many similar words were added to them.

Jeremiah 36 (KJVS)
[1] And it came to pass in the fourth H7243 year H8141 of Jehoiakim H3079 the son H1121 of Josiah H2977 king H4428 of Judah H3063, [that] this word H1697 came unto Jeremiah H3414 from the LORD H3068, saying H559 (8800),
[2] Take H3947 (8798) thee a roll H4039 of a book H5612, and write H3789 (8804) therein all the words H1697 that I have spoken H1696 (8765) unto thee against Israel H3478, and against Judah H3063, and against all the nations H1471, from the day H3117 I spake H1696 (8765) unto thee, from the days H3117 of Josiah H2977, even unto this day H3117.
[3] It may be that the house H1004 of Judah H3063 will hear H8085 (8799) all the evil H7451 which I purpose H2803 (8802) to do H6213 (8800) unto them; that they may return H7725 (8799) every man H376 from his evil H7451 way H1870; that I may forgive H5545 (8804) their iniquity H5771 and their sin H2403.
[4] Then Jeremiah H3414 called H7121 (8799) Baruch H1263 the son H1121 of Neriah H5374: and Baruch H1263 wrote H3789 (8799) from the mouth H6310 of Jeremiah H3414 all the words H1697 of the LORD H3068, which he had spoken H1696 (8765) unto him, upon a roll H4039 of a book H5612.
[5] And Jeremiah H3414 commanded H6680 (8762) Baruch H1263, saying H559 (8800), I [am] shut up H6113 (8803); I cannot H3201 (8799) go H935 (8800) into the house H1004 of the LORD H3068:
[6] Therefore go H935 (8804) thou, and read H7121 (8804) in the roll H4039, which thou hast written H3789 (8804) from my mouth H6310, the words H1697 of the LORD H3068 in the ears H241 of the people H5971 in the LORD’S H3068 house H1004 upon the fasting H6685 day H3117: and also thou shalt read H7121 (8799) them in the ears H241 of all Judah H3063 that come out H935 (8802) of their cities H5892.
[7] It may be they will present H5307 (8799) their supplication H8467 before H6440 the LORD H3068, and will return H7725 (8799) every one H376 from his evil H7451 way H1870: for great H1419 [is] the anger H639 and the fury H2534 that the LORD H3068 hath pronounced H1696 (8765) against this people H5971.
[8] And Baruch H1263 the son H1121 of Neriah H5374 did H6213 (8799) according to all that Jeremiah H3414 the prophet H5030 commanded H6680 (8765) him, reading H7121 (8800) in the book H5612 the words H1697 of the LORD H3068 in the LORD’S H3068 house H1004.
[9] And it came to pass in the fifth H2549 year H8141 of Jehoiakim H3079 the son H1121 of Josiah H2977 king H4428 of Judah H3063, in the ninth H8671 month H2320, [that] they proclaimed H7121 (8804) a fast H6685 before H6440 the LORD H3068 to all the people H5971 in Jerusalem H3389, and to all the people H5971 that came H935 (8802) from the cities H5892 of Judah H3063 unto Jerusalem H3389.
[10] Then read H7121 (8799) Baruch H1263 in the book H5612 the words H1697 of Jeremiah H3414 in the house H1004 of the LORD H3068, in the chamber H3957 of Gemariah H1587 the son H1121 of Shaphan H8227 the scribe H5608 (8802), in the higher H5945 court H2691, at the entry H6607 of the new H2319 gate H8179 of the LORD’S H3068 house H1004, in the ears H241 of all the people H5971.
[11] When Michaiah H4321 the son H1121 of Gemariah H1587, the son H1121 of Shaphan H8227, had heard H8085 (8799) out of the book H5612 all the words H1697 of the LORD H3068,
[12] Then he went down H3381 (8799) into the king’s H4428 house H1004, into the scribe’s H5608 (8802) chamber H3957: and, lo, all the princes H8269 sat H3427 (8802) there, [even] Elishama H476 the scribe H5608 (8802), and Delaiah H1806 the son H1121 of Shemaiah H8098, and Elnathan H494 the son H1121 of Achbor H5907, and Gemariah H1587 the son H1121 of Shaphan H8227, and Zedekiah H6667 the son H1121 of Hananiah H2608, and all the princes H8269.
[13] Then Michaiah H4321 declared H5046 (8686) unto them all the words H1697 that he had heard H8085 (8804), when Baruch H1263 read H7121 (8800) the book H5612 in the ears H241 of the people H5971.
[14] Therefore all the princes H8269 sent H7971 (8799) Jehudi H3065 the son H1121 of Nethaniah H5418, the son H1121 of Shelemiah H8018, the son H1121 of Cushi H3570, unto Baruch H1263, saying H559 (8800), Take H3947 (8798) in thine hand H3027 the roll H4039 wherein thou hast read H7121 (8804) in the ears H241 of the people H5971, and come H3212 (8798). So Baruch H1263 the son H1121 of Neriah H5374 took H3947 (8799) the roll H4039 in his hand H3027, and came H935 (8799) unto them.
[15] And they said H559 (8799) unto him, Sit down H3427 (8798) now, and read H7121 (8798) it in our ears H241. So Baruch H1263 read H7121 (8799) [it] in their ears H241.
[16] Now it came to pass, when they had heard H8085 (8800) all the words H1697, they were afraid H6342 (8804) both H413 one H376 and other H7453, and said H559 (8799) unto Baruch H1263, We will surely H5046 (8687) tell H5046 (8686) the king H4428 of all these words H1697.
[17] And they asked H7592 (8804) Baruch H1263, saying H559 (8800), Tell H5046 (8685) us now, How didst thou write H3789 (8804) all these words H1697 at his mouth H6310?
[18] Then Baruch H1263 answered H559 (8799) them, He pronounced H7121 (8799) all these words H1697 unto me with his mouth H6310, and I wrote H3789 (8802) [them] with ink H1773 in the book H5612.
[19] Then said H559 (8799) the princes H8269 unto Baruch H1263, Go H3212 (8798), hide H5641 (8734) thee, thou and Jeremiah H3414; and let no man H376 know H3045 (8799) where H375 ye be.
[20] And they went in H935 (8799) to the king H4428 into the court H2691, but they laid up H6485 (8689) the roll H4039 in the chamber H3957 of Elishama H476 the scribe H5608 (8802), and told H5046 (8686) all the words H1697 in the ears H241 of the king H4428.
[21] So the king H4428 sent H7971 (8799) Jehudi H3065 to fetch H3947 (8800) the roll H4039: and he took H3947 (8799) it out of Elishama H476 the scribe’s H5608 (8802) chamber H3957. And Jehudi H3065 read H7121 (8799) it in the ears H241 of the king H4428, and in the ears H241 of all the princes H8269 which stood H5975 (8802) beside H5921 the king H4428.
[22] Now the king H4428 sat H3427 (8802) in the winterhouse H1004 H2779 in the ninth H8671 month H2320: and [there was a fire] on the hearth H254 burning H1197 (8794) before H6440 him.
[23] And it came to pass, [that] when Jehudi H3065 had read H7121 (8800) three H7969 or four H702 leaves H1817, he cut H7167 (8799) it with the penknife H8593 H5608 (8802), and cast H7993 (8687) [it] into the fire H784 that [was] on the hearth H254, until all the roll H4039 was consumed H8552 (8800) in the fire H784 that [was] on the hearth H254.
[24] Yet they were not afraid H6342 (8804), nor rent H7167 (8804) their garments H899, [neither] the king H4428, nor any of his servants H5650 that heard H8085 (8802) all these words H1697.
[25] Nevertheless Elnathan H494 and Delaiah H1806 and Gemariah H1587 had made intercession H6293 (8689) to the king H4428 that he would not burn H8313 (8800) the roll H4039: but he would not hear H8085 (8804) them.
[26] But the king H4428 commanded H6680 (8762) Jerahmeel H3396 the son H1121 of Hammelech H4429, and Seraiah H8304 the son H1121 of Azriel H5837, and Shelemiah H8018 the son H1121 of Abdeel H5655, to take H3947 (8800) Baruch H1263 the scribe H5608 (8802) and Jeremiah H3414 the prophet H5030: but the LORD H3068 hid H5641 (8686) them.
[27] Then the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 came to Jeremiah H3414, after H310 that the king H4428 had burned H8313 (8800) the roll H4039, and the words H1697 which Baruch H1263 wrote H3789 (8804) at the mouth H6310 of Jeremiah H3414, saying H559 (8800),
[28] Take H3947 (8798) thee again H7725 (8798) another H312 roll H4039, and write H3789 (8798) in it all the former H7223 words H1697 that were in the first H7223 roll H4039, which Jehoiakim H3079 the king H4428 of Judah H3063 hath burned H8313 (8804).
[29] And thou shalt say H559 (8799) to Jehoiakim H3079 king H4428 of Judah H3063, Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068; Thou hast burned H8313 (8804) this roll H4039, saying H559 (8800), Why hast thou written H3789 (8804) therein, saying H559 (8800), The king H4428 of Babylon H894 shall certainly H935 (8800) come H935 (8799) and destroy H7843 (8689) this land H776, and shall cause to cease H7673 (8689) from thence man H120 and beast H929?
[30] Therefore thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068 of Jehoiakim H3079 king H4428 of Judah H3063; He shall have none to sit H3427 (8802) upon the throne H3678 of David H1732: and his dead body H5038 shall be cast out H7993 (8716) in the day H3117 to the heat H2721, and in the night H3915 to the frost H7140.
[31] And I will punish H6485 (8804) him and his seed H2233 and his servants H5650 for their iniquity H5771; and I will bring H935 (8689) upon them, and upon the inhabitants H3427 (8802) of Jerusalem H3389, and upon the men H376 of Judah H3063, all the evil H7451 that I have pronounced H1696 (8765) against them; but they hearkened H8085 (8804) not.
[32] Then took H3947 (8804) Jeremiah H3414 another H312 roll H4039, and gave H5414 (8799) it to Baruch H1263 the scribe H5608 (8802), the son H1121 of Neriah H5374; who wrote H3789 (8799) therein from the mouth H6310 of Jeremiah H3414 all the words H1697 of the book H5612 which Jehoiakim H3079 king H4428 of Judah H3063 had burned H8313 (8804) in the fire H784: and there were added H3254 (8738) besides unto them many H7227 like H1992 words H1697.
Young’s Literal Translation
Jeremiah 36 (YLT)
[1] And it cometh to pass, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, this word hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:
[2] ‘Take to thee a roll of a book, and thou hast written on it all the words that I have spoken unto thee concerning Israel, and concerning Judah, and concerning all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day;
[3] if so be the house of Israel do hear all the evil that I am thinking of doing to them, so that they turn back each from is evil way, and I have been propitious to their iniquity, and to their sin.’
[4] And Jeremiah calleth Baruch son of Neriah, and Baruch writeth from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of Jehovah, that He hath spoken unto him, on a roll of a book.
[5] And Jeremiah commandeth Baruch, saying, ‘I am restrained, I am not able to enter the house of Jehovah;
[6] but thou hast entered-and thou hast read in the roll that thou hast written from my mouth, the words of Jehovah, in the ears of the people, in the house of Jehovah, in the day of the fast, and also in the ears of all Judah who are coming in from their cities thou dost read them;
[7] if so be their supplication doth fall before Jehovah, and they turn back each from his evil way, for great is the anger and the fury that Jehovah hath spoken concerning this people.’
[8] And Baruch son of Neriah doth according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, to read in the book the words of Jehovah in the house of Jehovah.
[9] And it cometh to pass, in the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, proclaimed a fast before Jehovah have all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who are coming in from cities of Judah to Jerusalem;
[10] and Baruch readeth in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah, in the chamber of Gemariah son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the opening of the new gate of the house of Jehovah, in the ears of all the people.
[11] And Michaiah son of Gemariah, son of Shaphan, heareth all the words of Jehovah from off the book,
[12] and he goeth down to the house of the king, unto the chamber of the scribe, and lo, there are all the heads sitting: Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan son of Acbor, and Gemariah son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the heads.
[13] And declare to them doth Micaiah all the words that he hath heard, when Baruch readeth in the book in the ears of the people;
[14] and all the heads send unto Baruch, Jehudi son of Nethaniah, son of Shelemiah, son of Cushi, saying, ‘The roll in which thou hast read in the ears of the people take in thy hand, and come.’ And Baruch son of Neriah taketh the roll in his hand and cometh in unto them,
[15] and they say unto him, ‘Sit down, we pray thee, and read it in our ears,’ and Baruch readeth in their ears,
[16] and it cometh to pass, when they hear all the words, they have been afraid one at another, and say unto Baruch, ‘We do surely declare to the king all these words.’
[17] And they asked Baruch, saying, ‘Declare, we pray thee, to us, how didst thou write all these words-from his mouth?’
[18] And Baruch saith to them, ‘From his mouth, he pronounceth unto me all these words, and I am writing on the book with ink.’
[19] And the heads say unto Baruch, ‘Go, be hidden, thou and Jeremiah, and let no one know where ye are.’
[20] And they go in unto the king, to the court, and the roll they have laid up in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and they declare in the ears of the king all the words.
[21] And the king sendeth Jehudi to take the roll, and he taketh it out of the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and Jehudi readeth it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the heads who are standing by the king;
[22] and the king is sitting in the winter-house, in the ninth month, and the stove before him is burning,
[23] and it cometh to pass, when Jehudi readeth three or four leaves, he cutteth it out with the scribe’s knife, and hath cast unto the fire, that is on the stove, till the consumption of all the roll by the fire that is on the stove.
[24] And the king and all his servants who are hearing all these words have not been afraid, nor rent their garments.
[25] And also Elnathan, and Delaiah, and Gemariah have interceded with the king not to burn the roll, and he hath not hearkened unto them.
[26] And the king commandeth Jerahmeel son of Hammelek, and Seraiah son of Azriel, and Shelemiah son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Jehovah doth hide them.
[27] And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah-after the king’s burning the roll, even the words that Baruch hath written from the mouth of Jeremiah-saying:
[28] ‘Turn, take to thee another roll, and write on it all the former words that were on the first roll, that Jehoiakim king of Judah burnt,
[29] and unto Jehoiakim king of Judah thou dost say: Thus said Jehovah, Thou hast burnt this roll, saying, Wherefore hast thou written on it, saying, The king of Babylon surely cometh in, and hath destroyed this land, and caused to cease from it man and beast?
[30] ‘Therefore, thus said Jehovah, concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: He hath none sitting on the throne of David, and his carcase is cast out to heat by day, and to cold by night;
[31] and I have charged on him, and on his seed, and on his servants, their iniquity; and I have brought in on them, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto the men of Judah, all the evil that I have spoken unto them, and they hearkened not.’
[32] And Jeremiah hath taken another roll, and giveth it unto Baruch son of Neriah the scribe, and he writeth on it from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book that Jehoiakim king of Judah hath burnt in the fire; and again there were added unto them many words like these.
