Jeremiah 44 (WEBP)
[1] The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who lived in the land of Egypt, who lived at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Memphis, and in the country of Pathros, saying,
[2] “Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘You have seen all the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, and on all the cities of Judah. Behold, today they are a desolation, and no man dwells in them,
[3] because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, to serve other gods that they didn’t know, neither they, nor you, nor your fathers.
[4] However I sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, “Oh, don’t do this abominable thing that I hate.”
[5] But they didn’t listen and didn’t incline their ear. They didn’t turn from their wickedness, to stop burning incense to other gods.
[6] Therefore my wrath and my anger was poured out, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as it is today.’
[7] “Therefore now Yahweh, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Why do you commit great evil against your own souls, to cut off from yourselves man and woman, infant and nursing child out of the middle of Judah, to leave yourselves no one remaining,
[8] in that you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt where you have gone to live, that you may be cut off, and that you may be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?
[9] Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, the wickedness of the kings of Judah, the wickedness of their wives, your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
[10] They are not humbled even to this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.’
[11] “Therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, even to cut off all Judah.
[12] I will take the remnant of Judah that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to live there, and they will all be consumed. They will fall in the land of Egypt. They will be consumed by the sword and by the famine. They will die, from the least even to the greatest, by the sword and by the famine. They will be an object of horror, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach.
[13] For I will punish those who dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence;
[14] so that none of the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, will escape or be left to return into the land of Judah, to which they have a desire to return to dwell there; for no one will return except those who will escape.’ ”
[15] Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, even all the people who lived in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
[16] “As for the word that you have spoken to us in Yahweh’s name, we will not listen to you.
[17] But we will certainly perform every word that has gone out of our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of the sky and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then we had plenty of food, and were well, and saw no evil.
[18] But since we stopped burning incense to the queen of the sky, and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.”
[19] The women said, “When we burned incense to the queen of the sky and poured out drink offerings to her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings to her, without our husbands?”
[20] Then Jeremiah said to all the people—to the men and to the women, even to all the people who had given him an answer, saying,
[21] “The incense that you burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, didn’t Yahweh remember them, and didn’t it come into his mind?
[22] Thus Yahweh could no longer bear it, because of the evil of your doings and because of the abominations which you have committed. Therefore your land has become a desolation, an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is today.
[23] Because you have burned incense and because you have sinned against Yahweh, and have not obeyed Yahweh’s voice, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil has happened to you, as it is today.”
[24] Moreover Jeremiah said to all the people, including all the women, “Hear Yahweh’s word, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt!
[25] Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says, ‘You and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and with your hands have fulfilled it, saying, “We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of the sky, and to pour out drink offerings to her.” “ ‘Establish then your vows, and perform your vows.’
[26] “Therefore hear Yahweh’s word, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: ‘Behold, I have sworn by my great name,’ says Yahweh, ‘that my name will no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, “As the Lord Yahweh lives.”
[27] Behold, I watch over them for evil, and not for good; and all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt will be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until they are all gone.
[28] Those who escape the sword will return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah few in number. All the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, will know whose word will stand, mine or theirs.
[29] “ ‘This will be the sign to you,’ says Yahweh, ‘that I will punish you in this place, that you may know that my words will surely stand against you for evil.’
[30] Yahweh says, ‘Behold, I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies and into the hand of those who seek his life, just as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who was his enemy and sought his life.’ ”

Jeremiah 44 (KJVS)
[1] The word H1697 that came to Jeremiah H3414 concerning all the Jews H3064 which dwell H3427 (8802) in the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 which dwell H3427 (8802) at Migdol, H4024 and at Tahpanhes, H8471 and at Noph, H5297 and in the country H776 of Pathros, H6624 saying, H559 (8800)
[2] Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Ye have seen H7200 (8804) all the evil H7451 that I have brought H935 (8689) upon Jerusalem, H3389 and upon all the cities H5892 of Judah; H3063 and, behold, this day H3117 they [are] a desolation, H2723 and no man dwelleth H3427 (8802) therein,
[3] Because H6440 of their wickedness H7451 which they have committed H6213 (8804) to provoke me to anger, H3707 (8687) in that they went H3212 (8800) to burn incense, H6999 (8763) [and] to serve H5647 (8800) other H312 gods, H430 whom they knew H3045 (8804) not, [neither] they, ye, nor your fathers. H1
[4] Howbeit I sent H7971 (8799) unto you all my servants H5650 the prophets, H5030 rising early H7925 (8687) and sending H7971 (8800) [them], saying, H559 (8800) Oh, do H6213 (8799) not this abominable H8441 thing H1697 that I hate. H8130 (8804)
[5] But they hearkened H8085 (8804) not, nor inclined H5186 (8689) their ear H241 to turn H7725 (8800) from their wickedness, H7451 to burn no incense H6999 (8763) unto other H312 gods. H430
[6] Wherefore my fury H2534 and mine anger H639 was poured forth, H5413 (8799) and was kindled H1197 (8799) in the cities H5892 of Judah H3063 and in the streets H2351 of Jerusalem; H3389 and they are wasted H2723 [and] desolate, H8077 as at this day. H3117
[7] Therefore now thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD, H3068 the God H430 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Wherefore commit H6213 (8802) ye [this] great H1419 evil H7451 against your souls, H5315 to cut off H3772 (8687) from you man H376 and woman, H802 child H5768 and suckling, H3243 (8802) out H8432 of Judah, H3063 to leave H3498 (8687) you none to remain; H7611
[8] In that ye provoke me unto wrath H3707 (8687) with the works H4639 of your hands, H3027 burning incense H6999 (8763) unto other H312 gods H430 in the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 whither ye be gone H935 (8802) to dwell, H1481 (8800) that ye might cut yourselves off, H3772 (8687) and that ye might be a curse H7045 and a reproach H2781 among all the nations H1471 of the earth? H776
[9] Have ye forgotten H7911 (8804) the wickedness H7451 of your fathers, H1 and the wickedness H7451 of the kings H4428 of Judah, H3063 and the wickedness H7451 of their wives, H802 and your own wickedness, H7451 and the wickedness H7451 of your wives, H802 which they have committed H6213 (8804) in the land H776 of Judah, H3063 and in the streets H2351 of Jerusalem? H3389
[10] They are not humbled H1792 (8795) [even] unto this day, H3117 neither have they feared, H3372 (8804) nor walked H1980 (8804) in my law, H8451 nor in my statutes, H2708 that I set H5414 (8804) before H6440 you and before H6440 your fathers. H1
[11] Therefore thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Behold, I will set H7760 (8802) my face H6440 against you for evil, H7451 and to cut off H3772 (8687) all Judah. H3063
[12] And I will take H3947 (8804) the remnant H7611 of Judah, H3063 that have set H7760 (8804) their faces H6440 to go H935 (8800) into the land H776 of Egypt H4714 to sojourn H1481 (8800) there, and they shall all be consumed, H8552 (8804) [and] fall H5307 (8799) in the land H776 of Egypt; H4714 they shall [even] be consumed H8552 (8735) by the sword H2719 [and] by the famine: H7458 they shall die, H4191 (8799) from the least H6996 even unto the greatest, H1419 by the sword H2719 and by the famine: H7458 and they shall be an execration, H423 [and] an astonishment, H8047 and a curse, H7045 and a reproach. H2781
[13] For I will punish H6485 (8804) them that dwell H3427 (8802) in the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 as I have punished H6485 (8804) Jerusalem, H3389 by the sword, H2719 by the famine, H7458 and by the pestilence: H1698
[14] So that none of the remnant H7611 of Judah, H3063 which are gone H935 (8802) into the land H776 of Egypt H4714 to sojourn H1481 (8800) there, shall escape H6412 or remain, H8300 that they should return H7725 (8800) into the land H776 of Judah, H3063 to the which they have H5375 (8764) a desire H5315 to return H7725 (8800) to dwell H3427 (8800) there: for none shall return H7725 (8799) but such as shall escape. H6405
[15] Then all the men H582 which knew H3045 (8802) that their wives H802 had burned incense H6999 (8764) unto other H312 gods, H430 and all the women H802 that stood by, H5975 (8802) a great H1419 multitude, H6951 even all the people H5971 that dwelt H3427 (8802) in the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 in Pathros, H6624 answered H6030 (8799) Jeremiah, H3414 saying, H559 (8800)
[16] [As for] the word H1697 that thou hast spoken H1696 (8765) unto us in the name H8034 of the LORD, H3068 we will not hearken H8085 (8802) unto thee.
[17] But we will certainly H6213 (8800) do H6213 (8799) whatsoever thing H1697 goeth forth H3318 (8804) out of our own mouth, H6310 to burn incense H6999 (8763) unto the queen H4446 of heaven, H8064 and to pour out H5258 (8687) drink offerings H5262 unto her, as we have done, H6213 (8804) we, and our fathers, H1 our kings, H4428 and our princes, H8269 in the cities H5892 of Judah, H3063 and in the streets H2351 of Jerusalem: H3389 for [then] had we plenty H7646 (8799) of victuals, H3899 and were well, H2896 and saw H7200 (8804) no evil. H7451
[18] But since we left off H2308 (8804) to burn incense H6999 (8763) to the queen H4446 of heaven, H8064 and to pour out H5258 (8687) drink offerings H5262 unto her, we have wanted H2637 (8804) all [things], and have been consumed H8552 (8804) by the sword H2719 and by the famine. H7458
[19] And when we burned incense H6999 (8764) to the queen H4446 of heaven, H8064 and poured out H5258 (8687) drink offerings H5262 unto her, did we make H6213 (8804) her cakes H3561 to worship H6087 (8687) her, and pour out H5258 (8687) drink offerings H5262 unto her, without H1107 our men? H582
[20] Then Jeremiah H3414 said H559 (8799) unto all the people, H5971 to the men, H1397 and to the women, H802 and to all the people H5971 which had given him [that] answer, H1697 H6030 (8802) saying, H559 (8800)
[21] The incense H7002 that ye burned H6999 (8765) in the cities H5892 of Judah, H3063 and in the streets H2351 of Jerusalem, H3389 ye, and your fathers, H1 your kings, H4428 and your princes, H8269 and the people H5971 of the land, H776 did not the LORD H3068 remember H2142 (8804) them, and came H5927 (8799) it [not] into his mind? H3820
[22] So that the LORD H3068 could H3201 (8799) no longer bear, H5375 (8800) because H6440 of the evil H7455 of your doings, H4611 [and] because H6440 of the abominations H8441 which ye have committed; H6213 (8804) therefore is your land H776 a desolation, H2723 and an astonishment, H8047 and a curse, H7045 without an inhabitant, H3427 (8802) as at this day. H3117
[23] Because H6440 H834 ye have burned incense, H6999 (8765) and because ye have sinned H2398 (8804) against the LORD, H3068 and have not obeyed H8085 (8804) the voice H6963 of the LORD, H3068 nor walked H1980 (8804) in his law, H8451 nor in his statutes, H2708 nor in his testimonies; H5715 therefore this evil H7451 is happened H7122 (8804) unto you, as at this day. H3117
[24] Moreover Jeremiah H3414 said H559 (8799) unto all the people, H5971 and to all the women, H802 Hear H8085 (8798) the word H1697 of the LORD, H3068 all Judah H3063 that [are] in the land H776 of Egypt: H4714
[25] Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel, H3478 saying; H559 (8800) Ye and your wives H802 have both spoken H1696 (8762) with your mouths, H6310 and fulfilled H4390 (8765) with your hand, H3027 saying, H559 (8800) We will surely H6213 (8800) perform H6213 (8799) our vows H5088 that we have vowed, H5087 (8804) to burn incense H6999 (8763) to the queen H4446 of heaven, H8064 and to pour out H5258 (8687) drink offerings H5262 unto her: ye will surely H6965 (8687) accomplish H6965 (8686) your vows, H5088 and surely H6213 (8800) perform H6213 (8799) your vows. H5088
[26] Therefore hear H8085 (8798) ye the word H1697 of the LORD, H3068 all Judah H3063 that dwell H3427 (8802) in the land H776 of Egypt; H4714 Behold, I have sworn H7650 (8738) by my great H1419 name, H8034 saith H559 (8804) the LORD, H3068 that my name H8034 shall no more be named H7121 (8737) in the mouth H6310 of any man H376 of Judah H3063 in all the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 saying, H559 (8802) The Lord H136 GOD H3069 liveth. H2416
[27] Behold, I will watch H8245 (8802) over them for evil, H7451 and not for good: H2896 and all the men H376 of Judah H3063 that [are] in the land H776 of Egypt H4714 shall be consumed H8552 (8804) by the sword H2719 and by the famine, H7458 until there be an end H3615 (8800) of them.
[28] Yet a small H4962 number H4557 that escape H6412 the sword H2719 shall return out H7725 (8799) of the land H776 of Egypt H4714 into the land H776 of Judah, H3063 and all the remnant H7611 of Judah, H3063 that are gone H935 (8802) into the land H776 of Egypt H4714 to sojourn H1481 (8800) there, shall know H3045 (8804) whose words H1697 shall stand, H6965 (8799) mine, or theirs.
[29] And this [shall be] a sign H226 unto you, saith H5002 (8803) the LORD, H3068 that I will punish H6485 (8802) you in this place, H4725 that ye may know H3045 (8799) that my words H1697 shall surely H6965 (8800) stand H6965 (8799) against you for evil: H7451
[30] Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD; H3068 Behold, I will give H5414 (8802) Pharaohhophra H6548 king H4428 of Egypt H4714 into the hand H3027 of his enemies, H341 (8802) and into the hand H3027 of them that seek H1245 (8764) his life; H5315 as I gave H5414 (8804) Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 of Judah H3063 into the hand H3027 of Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon, H894 his enemy, H341 (8802) and that sought H1245 (8764) his life. H5315
Young’s Literal Translation
Jeremiah 44 (YLT)
[1] The word that hath been unto Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who are dwelling in the land of Egypt-who are dwelling in Migdol, and in Tahpanhes, and in Noph, and in the land of Pathros-saying,
[2] ‘Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Ye-ye have seen all the evil that I have brought in on Jerusalem, and on all the cities of Judah, and lo, they are a waste this day, and there is none dwelling in them,
[3] because of their wickedness that they have done, by provoking Me to anger, by going to make perfume, by serving other gods, that they knew not, they, ye, and your fathers.
[4] ‘And I send unto you all my servants, the prophets, rising early and sending, saying: I pray you, do not this abomination that I have hated-
[5] and they have not hearkened nor inclined their ear, to turn back from their wickedness, not to make perfume to other gods,
[6] and poured out is My fury, and Mine anger, and it burneth in cities of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem, and they are for a waste, for a desolation, as at this day.
[7] ‘And, now, thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Why are ye doing great evil unto your own souls, to cut off to you man and woman, infant and suckling, from the midst of Judah, so as not to leave to you a remnant:
[8] by provoking Me to anger by the works of your hands, by making perfume to other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye are going in to sojourn, so as to cut yourselves off, and so as to your being for a reviling and for a reproach among all nations of the earth?
[9] ‘Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, that they have done in the land of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem?
[10] They have not been humbled unto this day, nor have they been afraid, nor have they walked in My law, and in My statutes, that I have set before you and before your fathers.
[11] ‘Therefore, thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am setting my face against you for evil, even to cut off all Judah,
[12] and I have taken the remnant of Judah, who have set their faces to enter the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they have all been consumed in the land of Egypt; they fall by sword, by famine they are consumed, from the least even unto the greatest, by sword and by famine they die, and they have been for an execration, for an astonishment, and for a reviling, and for a reproach.
[13] ‘And I have seen after those dwelling in the land of Egypt, as I saw after Jerusalem, with sword, with famine, and with pestilence,
[14] and there is not an escaped and remaining one of the remnant of Judah, who are entering into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, even to turn back to the land of Judah, whither they are lifting up their soul to return to dwell, for they do not turn back, except those escaping.’
[15] And they answer Jeremiah-all the men who are knowing that their wives are making perfume to other gods, and all the women who are remaining, a great assembly, even all the people who are dwelling in the land of Egypt, in Pathros-saying:
[16] ‘The word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of Jehovah-we are not hearkening unto thee;
[17] for we certainly do everything that hath gone out of our mouth, to make perfume to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out to her libations, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our heads, in cities of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem, and-we are satisfied with bread, and we are well, and evil we have not seen.
[18] ‘And from the time we have ceased to make perfume to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out to her libations, we have lacked all, and by sword and by famine we have been consumed,
[19] and when we are making perfume to the queen of the heavens, and pouring out to her libations-without our husbands have we made for her cakes to idolize her, and to pour out to her libations?’
[20] And Jeremiah saith unto all the people, concerning the men and concerning the women, and concerning all the people who are answering him, saying:
[21] ‘The perfume that ye made in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your heads, and the people of the land, hath not Jehovah remembered it? yea, it cometh up on His heart.
[22] And Jehovah is not able any more to accept you, because of the evil of your doings, because of the abominations that ye have done, and your land is for a waste, and for an astonishment, and for a reviling, without inhabitant, as at this day.
[23] ‘Because that ye have made perfume, and because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah, and in His law, and in His statutes, and in His testimonies ye have not walked, therefore hath this evil met you as at this day.’
[24] And Jeremiah saith unto all the people, and unto all the women, ‘Hear ye a word of Jehovah, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt,
[25] Thus spake Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, saying: Ye and your wives both speak with your mouth, and with your hands have fulfilled, saying: We certainly execute our vows that we have vowed, to make perfume to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out to her libations, ye do certainly establish your vows, and certainly execute your vows.
[26] ‘Therefore, hear ye a word of Jehovah, all Judah who are dwelling in the land of Egypt: Lo, I-I have sworn by My great name, said Jehovah, My name is no more proclaimed by the mouth of any man of Judah, saying, Live doth the Lord Jehovah-in all the land of Egypt.
[27] Lo, I am watching over them for evil, and not for good, and consumed have been all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt, by sword and by famine, till their consumption.
[28] ‘And the escaped of the sword turn back out of the land of Egypt to the land of Judah, few in number, and known have all the remnant of Judah who are coming into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, whose word is established, Mine or theirs.
[29] ‘And this is to you the sign-an affirmation of Jehovah-that I am seeing after you in this place, so that ye know that My words are certainly established against you for evil;
[30] Thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am giving Pharaoh-Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of those seeking his life, as I have given Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and who is seeking his life.’
