Jeremiah 46 (WEBP)
[1] Yahweh’s word which came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations.
[2] Of Egypt: concerning the army of Pharaoh Necoh king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon struck in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah.
[3] “Prepare the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle!
[4] Harness the horses, and get up, you horsemen, and stand up with your helmets. Polish the spears, put on the coats of mail.
[5] Why have I seen it? They are dismayed and are turned backward. Their mighty ones are beaten down, have fled in haste, and don’t look back. Terror is on every side,” says Yahweh.
[6] “Don’t let the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape. In the north by the river Euphrates they have stumbled and fallen.
[7] “Who is this who rises up like the Nile, like rivers whose waters surge?
[8] Egypt rises up like the Nile, like rivers whose waters surge. He says, ‘I will rise up. I will cover the earth. I will destroy cities and its inhabitants.’
[9] Go up, you horses! Rage, you chariots! Let the mighty men go out: Cush and Put, who handle the shield; and the Ludim, who handle and bend the bow.
[10] For that day is of the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge himself of his adversaries. The sword will devour and be satiated, and will drink its fill of their blood; for the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
[11] Go up into Gilead, and take balm, virgin daughter of Egypt. You use many medicines in vain. There is no healing for you.
[12] The nations have heard of your shame, and the earth is full of your cry; for the mighty man has stumbled against the mighty, they both fall together.”
[13] The word that Yahweh spoke to Jeremiah the prophet, how that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon should come and strike the land of Egypt:
[14] “Declare in Egypt, publish in Migdol, and publish in Memphis and in Tahpanhes; say, ‘Stand up, and prepare, for the sword has devoured around you.’
[15] Why are your strong ones swept away? They didn’t stand, because Yahweh pushed them.
[16] He made many to stumble. Yes, they fell on one another. They said, ‘Arise! Let’s go again to our own people, and to the land of our birth, from the oppressing sword.’
[17] They cried there, ‘Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he has let the appointed time pass by.’
[18] “As I live,” says the King, whose name is Yahweh of Armies, “surely like Tabor among the mountains, and like Carmel by the sea, so he will come.
[19] You daughter who dwells in Egypt, furnish yourself to go into captivity; for Memphis will become a desolation, and will be burned up, without inhabitant.
[20] “Egypt is a very beautiful heifer; but destruction out of the north has come. It has come.
[21] Also her hired men in the middle of her are like calves of the stall, for they also are turned back. They have fled away together. They didn’t stand, for the day of their calamity has come on them, the time of their visitation.
[22] Its sound will go like the serpent, for they will march with an army, and come against her with axes, as wood cutters.
[23] They will cut down her forest,” says Yahweh, “though it can’t be searched; because they are more than the locusts, and are innumerable.
[24] The daughter of Egypt will be disappointed; she will be delivered into the hand of the people of the north.”
[25] Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Behold, I will punish Amon of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with her gods and her kings, even Pharaoh, and those who trust in him.
[26] I will deliver them into the hand of those who seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants. Afterwards it will be inhabited, as in the days of old,” says Yahweh.
[27] “But don’t you be afraid, Jacob my servant. Don’t be dismayed, Israel; for, behold, I will save you from afar, and your offspring from the land of their captivity. Jacob will return, and will be quiet and at ease. No one will make him afraid.
[28] Don’t be afraid, O Jacob my servant,” says Yahweh, “for I am with you; for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you, but I will not make a full end of you, but I will correct you in measure, and will in no way leave you unpunished.”

Jeremiah 46 (KJVS)
[1] The word H1697 of the LORD H3068 which came to Jeremiah H3414 the prophet H5030 against the Gentiles H1471;
[2] Against Egypt H4714, against the army H2428 of Pharaohnecho H6549 king H4428 of Egypt H4714, which was by the river H5104 Euphrates H6578 in Carchemish H3751, which Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894 smote H5221 (8689) in the fourth H7243 year H8141 of Jehoiakim H3079 the son H1121 of Josiah H2977 king H4428 of Judah H3063.
[3] Order H6186 (8798) ye the buckler H4043 and shield H6793, and draw near H5066 (8798) to battle H4421.
[4] Harness H631 (8798) the horses H5483; and get up H5927 (8798), ye horsemen H6571, and stand forth H3320 (8690) with [your] helmets H3553; furbish H4838 (8798) the spears H7420, [and] put on H3847 (8798) the brigandines H5630.
[5] Wherefore have I seen H7200 (8804) them dismayed H2844 [and] turned H5472 (8737) away back H268? and their mighty ones H1368 are beaten down H3807 (8714), and are fled H5127 (8804) apace H4498, and look not back H6437 (8689): [for] fear H4032 [was] round about H5439, saith H5002 (8803) the LORD H3068.
[6] Let not the swift H7031 flee away H5127 (8799), nor the mighty man H1368 escape H4422 (8735); they shall stumble H3782 (8804), and fall H5307 (8804) toward the north H6828 by H3027 the river H5104 Euphrates H6578.
[7] Who [is] this [that] cometh up H5927 (8799) as a flood H2975, whose waters H4325 are moved H1607 (8691) as the rivers H5104?
[8] Egypt H4714 riseth up H5927 (8799) like a flood H2975, and [his] waters H4325 are moved H1607 (8704) like the rivers H5104; and he saith H559 (8799), I will go up H5927 (8799), [and] will cover H3680 (8762) the earth H776; I will destroy H6 (8686) the city H5892 and the inhabitants H3427 (8802) thereof.
[9] Come up H5927 (8798), ye horses H5483; and rage H1984 (8703), ye chariots H7393; and let the mighty men H1368 come forth H3318 (8799); the Ethiopians H3568 and the Libyans H6316, that handle H8610 (8802) the shield H4043; and the Lydians H3866, that handle H8610 (8802) [and] bend H1869 (8802) the bow H7198.
[10] For this [is] the day H3117 of the Lord H136 GOD H3069 of hosts H6635, a day H3117 of vengeance H5360, that he may avenge H5358 (8736) him of his adversaries H6862: and the sword H2719 shall devour H398 (8804), and it shall be satiate H7646 (8804) and made drunk H7301 (8804) with their blood H1818: for the Lord H136 GOD H3069 of hosts H6635 hath a sacrifice H2077 in the north H6828 country H776 by the river H5104 Euphrates H6578.
[11] Go up H5927 (8798) into Gilead H1568, and take H3947 (8798) balm H6875, O virgin H1330, the daughter H1323 of Egypt H4714: in vain H7723 shalt thou use many H7235 (8689) medicines H7499; [for] thou shalt not be cured H8585.
[12] The nations H1471 have heard H8085 (8804) of thy shame H7036, and thy cry H6682 hath filled H4390 (8804) the land H776: for the mighty man H1368 hath stumbled H3782 (8804) against the mighty H1368, [and] they are fallen H5307 (8804) both H8147 together H3162.
[13] The word H1697 that the LORD H3068 spake H1696 (8765) to Jeremiah H3414 the prophet H5030, how Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894 should come H935 (8800) [and] smite H5221 (8687) the land H776 of Egypt H4714.
[14] Declare H5046 (8685) ye in Egypt H4714, and publish H8085 (8685) in Migdol H4024, and publish H8085 (8685) in Noph H5297 and in Tahpanhes H8471: say H559 (8798) ye, Stand fast H3320 (8690), and prepare H3559 (8685) thee; for the sword H2719 shall devour H398 (8804) round about H5439 thee.
[15] Why are thy valiant H47 [men] swept away H5502 (8738)? they stood H5975 (8804) not, because the LORD H3068 did drive H1920 (8804) them.
[16] He made many H7235 (8689) to fall H3782 (8802), yea, one H376 fell H5307 (8804) upon another H7453: and they said H559 (8799), Arise H6965 (8798), and let us go again H7725 (8799) to our own people H5971, and to the land H776 of our nativity H4138, from H6440 the oppressing H3238 (8802) sword H2719.
[17] They did cry H7121 (8804) there, Pharaoh H6547 king H4428 of Egypt H4714 [is but] a noise H7588; he hath passed H5674 (8689) the time appointed H4150.
[18] [As] I live H2416, saith H5002 (8803) the King H4428, whose name H8034 [is] the LORD H3068 of hosts H6635, Surely as Tabor H8396 [is] among the mountains H2022, and as Carmel H3760 by the sea H3220, [so] shall he come H935 (8799).
[19] O thou daughter H1323 dwelling H3427 (8802) in Egypt H4714, furnish H6213 (8798) thyself to go into captivity H3627 H1473: for Noph H5297 shall be waste H8047 and desolate H3341 (8738) without an inhabitant H3427 (8802).
[20] Egypt H4714 [is like] a very fair H3304 heifer H5697, [but] destruction H7171 cometh H935 (8804); it cometh out H935 (8804) of the north H6828.
[21] Also her hired men H7916 [are] in the midst H7130 of her like fatted H4770 bullocks H5695; for they also are turned back H6437 (8689), [and] are fled away H5127 (8804) together H3162: they did not stand H5975 (8804), because the day H3117 of their calamity H343 was come H935 (8804) upon them, [and] the time H6256 of their visitation H6486.
[22] The voice H6963 thereof shall go H3212 (8799) like a serpent H5175; for they shall march H3212 (8799) with an army H2428, and come H935 (8804) against her with axes H7134, as hewers H2404 (8802) of wood H6086.
[23] They shall cut down H3772 (8804) her forest H3293, saith H5002 (8803) the LORD H3068, though it cannot be searched H2713 (8735); because they are more H7231 (8804) than the grasshoppers H697, and [are] innumerable H369 H4557.
[24] The daughter H1323 of Egypt H4714 shall be confounded H3001 (8689); she shall be delivered H5414 (8738) into the hand H3027 of the people H5971 of the north H6828.
[25] The LORD H3068 of hosts H6635, the God H430 of Israel H3478, saith H559 (8804); Behold, I will punish H6485 (8802) the multitude H527 (8676) H528 of No H4996, and Pharaoh H6547, and Egypt H4714, with their gods H430, and their kings H4428; even Pharaoh H6547, and [all] them that trust H982 (8802) in him:
[26] And I will deliver H5414 (8804) them into the hand H3027 of those that seek H1245 (8764) their lives H5315, and into the hand H3027 of Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894, and into the hand H3027 of his servants H5650: and afterward H310 it shall be inhabited H7931 (8799), as in the days H3117 of old H6924, saith H5002 (8803) the LORD H3068.
[27] But fear H3372 (8799) not thou, O my servant H5650 Jacob H3290, and be not dismayed H2865 (8735), O Israel H3478: for, behold, I will save H3467 (8688) thee from afar off H7350, and thy seed H2233 from the land H776 of their captivity H7628; and Jacob H3290 shall return H7725 (8804), and be in rest H8252 (8804) and at ease H7599 (8768), and none shall make [him] afraid H2729 (8688).
[28] Fear H3372 (8799) thou not, O Jacob H3290 my servant H5650, saith H5002 (8803) the LORD H3068: for I [am] with thee; for I will make H6213 (8799) a full end H3617 of all the nations H1471 whither I have driven H5080 (8689) thee: but I will not make H6213 (8799) a full end H3617 of thee, but correct H3256 (8765) thee in measure H4941; yet will I not leave thee wholly H5352 (8763) unpunished H5352 (8762).
Young’s Literal Translation
Jeremiah 46 (YLT)
[1] That which hath been the word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations,
[2] For Egypt, concerning the force of Pharaoh-Necho king of Egypt, that hath been by the river Phrat, in Carchemish, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath smitten, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah:
[3] ‘Set ye in array shield and buckler, And draw nigh to battle.
[4] Gird the horses, and go up, ye horsemen, And station yourselves with helmets, Polish the javelins, put on the coats of mail.
[5] Wherefore have I seen them dismayed- They are turned backward, And their mighty ones are beaten down, And to a refuge they have fled, and not turned the face? Fear is round about-an affirmation of Jehovah.
[6] The swift do not flee, nor do the mighty escape, Northward, by the side of the river Phrat, They have stumbled and fallen.
[7] Who is this? as a flood he cometh up, As rivers do his waters shake themselves!
[8] Egypt, as a flood cometh up, And as rivers the waters shake themselves. And he saith, I go up; I cover the land, I destroy the city and the inhabitants in it.
[9] Go up, ye horses; and boast yourselves, ye chariots, And go forth, ye mighty, Cush and Phut handling the shield, And Lud handling-treading the bow.
[10] And that day is to the Lord Jehovah of Hosts A day of vengeance, To be avenged of His adversaries, And the sword hath devoured, and been satisfied, And it hath been watered from their blood, For a sacrifice is to the Lord Jehovah of Hosts, In the land of the north, by the river Phrat.
[11] Go up to Gilead, and take balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt, In vain thou hast multiplied medicines, Healing there is none for thee.
[12] Nations have heard of thy shame, And thy cry hath filled the land, For the mighty on the mighty did stumble, Together they have fallen-both of them!’
[13] The word that Jehovah hath spoken unto Jeremiah the prophet concerning the coming in of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, to smite the land of Egypt:
[14] ‘Declare ye in Egypt, and sound in Migdol, Yea, sound in Noph, and in Tahpanhes say: Station thyself, yea, prepare for thee, For a sword hath devoured around thee,
[15] Wherefore hath thy bull been swept away? He hath not stood, because Jehovah thrust him away.
[16] He hath multiplied the stumbling, Yea one hath fallen upon his neighbour, And they say: Rise, and we turn back to our people, And unto the land of our birth, Because of the oppressing sword.
[17] They have cried there: Pharaoh king of Egypt is a desolation, Passed by hath the appointed time.
[18] I live-an affirmation of the King, Jehovah of Hosts is His name, Surely as Tabor is among mountains, And as Carmel by the sea-he cometh in,
[19] Goods for removal make for thee, O inhabitant, daughter of Egypt, For Noph becometh a desolation, And hath been burnt up, without inhabitant.
[20] A heifer very fair is Egypt, Rending from the north doth come into her.
[21] Even her hired ones in her midst are as calves of the stall, For even they have turned, They have fled together, they have not stood, For the day of their calamity hath come on them, The time of their inspection.
[22] Its voice as a serpent goeth on, For with a force they go, And with axes they have come in to her, As hewers of trees.
[23] They have cut down her forest, An affirmation of Jehovah-for it is not searched, For they have been more than the grasshopper, And they have no numbering.
[24] Ashamed hath been the daughter of Egypt, She hath been given into the hand of the people of the north.
[25] Said hath Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am seeing after Amon of No, And after Pharaoh, and after Egypt, And after her gods, and after her kings, And after Pharaoh, and after those trusting in him,
[26] And I have given them into the hand of those seeking their life, And into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, And into the hand of his servants, And afterwards it is inhabited, As in days of old-an affirmation of Jehovah.
[27] And thou, thou dost not fear, my servant Jacob, Nor art thou dismayed, O Israel, For lo, I am saving thee from afar, And thy seed from the land of their captivity, And Jacob hath turned back, And hath been at rest, and been at ease, And there is none disturbing.
[28] Thou, thou dost not fear, My servant Jacob, An affirmation of Jehovah-for with thee I am, For I make an end of all the nations Whither I have driven thee, And of thee I do not make an end, And I have reproved thee in judgment, And do not entirely acquit thee!’
