Jeremiah 18 (WEBP)
[1] The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,
[2] “Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear my words.”
[3] Then I went down to the potter’s house, and behold, he was making something on the wheels.
[4] When the vessel that he made of the clay was marred in the hand of the potter, he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
[5] Then Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,
[6] “House of Israel, can’t I do with you as this potter?” says Yahweh. “Behold, as the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, house of Israel.
[7] At the instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it,
[8] if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them.
[9] At the instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it,
[10] if they do that which is evil in my sight, that they not obey my voice, then I will repent of the good with which I said I would benefit them.
[11] “Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Yahweh says: “Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a plan against you. Everyone return from his evil way now, and amend your ways and your doings.” ’
[12] But they say, ‘It is in vain; for we will walk after our own plans, and we will each follow the stubbornness of his evil heart.’ ”
[13] Therefore Yahweh says: “Ask now among the nations, ‘Who has heard such things?’ The virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing.
[14] Will the snow of Lebanon fail from the rock of the field? Will the cold waters that flow down from afar be dried up?
[15] For my people have forgotten me. They have burned incense to false gods. They have been made to stumble in their ways in the ancient paths, to walk in byways, in a way not built up,
[16] to make their land an astonishment, and a perpetual hissing. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished, and shake his head.
[17] I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy. I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
[18] Then they said, “Come! Let’s devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law won’t perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let’s strike him with the tongue, and let’s not give heed to any of his words.”
[19] Give heed to me, Yahweh, and listen to the voice of those who contend with me.
[20] Should evil be recompensed for good? For they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.
[21] Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and give them over to the power of the sword. Let their wives become childless and widows. Let their men be killed and their young men struck by the sword in battle.
[22] Let a cry be heard from their houses when you bring a troop suddenly on them; for they have dug a pit to take me and hidden snares for my feet.
[23] Yet, Yahweh, you know all their counsel against me to kill me. Don’t forgive their iniquity. Don’t blot out their sin from your sight, Let them be overthrown before you. Deal with them in the time of your anger.

Jeremiah 18 (KJVS)
[1] The word H1697 which came to Jeremiah H3414 from the LORD H3068, saying H559 (8800),
[2] Arise H6965 (8798), and go down H3381 (8804) to the potter’s H3335 (8802) house H1004, and there I will cause thee to hear H8085 (8686) my words H1697.
[3] Then I went down H3381 (8799) to the potter’s H3335 (8802) house H1004, and, behold H2009, he wrought H6213 (8802) a work H4399 on the wheels H70.
[4] And the vessel H3627 that he made H6213 (8802) of clay H2563 was marred H7843 (8738) in the hand H3027 of the potter H3335 (8802): so he made H6213 (8799) it again H7725 (8804) another H312 vessel H3627, as seemed H5869 good H3474 (8804) to the potter H3335 (8802) to make H6213 (8800) [it].
[5] Then the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 came to me, saying H559 (8800),
[6] O house H1004 of Israel H3478, cannot H3201 (8799) I do H6213 (8800) with you as this potter H3335 (8802)? saith H5002 (8803) the LORD H3068. Behold, as the clay H2563 [is] in the potter’s H3335 (8802) hand H3027, so [are] ye in mine hand H3027, O house H1004 of Israel H3478.
[7] [At what] instant H7281 I shall speak H1696 (8762) concerning a nation H1471, and concerning a kingdom H4467, to pluck up H5428 (8800), and to pull down H5422 (8800), and to destroy H6 (8687) [it];
[8] If that nation H1471, against whom I have pronounced H1696 (8765), turn H7725 (8804) from their evil H7451, I will repent H5162 (8738) of the evil H7451 that I thought H2803 (8804) to do H6213 (8800) unto them.
[9] And [at what] instant H7281 I shall speak H1696 (8762) concerning a nation H1471, and concerning a kingdom H4467, to build H1129 (8800) and to plant H5193 (8800) [it];
[10] If it do H6213 (8804) evil H7451 in my sight H5869, that it obey H8085 (8800) not my voice H6963, then I will repent H5162 (8738) of the good H2896, wherewith I said H559 (8804) I would benefit H3190 (8687) them.
[11] Now therefore go to, speak H559 (8798) to the men H376 of Judah H3063, and to the inhabitants H3427 (8802) of Jerusalem H3389, saying H559 (8800), Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068; Behold, I frame H3335 (8802) evil H7451 against you, and devise H2803 (8802) a device H4284 against you: return H7725 (8798) ye now every one H376 from his evil H7451 way H1870, and make your ways H1870 and your doings H4611 good H3190 (8685).
[12] And they said H559 (8804), There is no hope H2976 (8737): but we will walk H3212 (8799) after H310 our own devices H4284, and we will every one H376 do H6213 (8799) the imagination H8307 of his evil H7451 heart H3820.
[13] Therefore thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068; Ask H7592 (8798) ye now among the heathen H1471, who hath heard H8085 (8804) such things: the virgin H1330 of Israel H3478 hath done H6213 (8804) a very H3966 horrible thing H8186.
[14] Will [a man] leave H5800 (8799) the snow H7950 of Lebanon H3844 [which cometh] from the rock H6697 of the field H7704? [or] shall the cold H7119 flowing H5140 (8802) waters H4325 that come from another place H2114 (8801) be forsaken H5428 (8735)?
[15] Because my people H5971 hath forgotten H7911 (8804) me, they have burned incense H6999 (8762) to vanity H7723, and they have caused them to stumble H3782 (8686) in their ways H1870 [from] the ancient H5769 paths H7635 (8675) H7635, to walk H3212 (8800) in paths H5410, [in] a way H1870 not cast up H5549 (8803);
[16] To make H7760 (8800) their land H776 desolate H8047, [and] a perpetual H5769 hissing H8292 (8675) H8292; every one that passeth H5674 (8802) thereby shall be astonished H8074 (8799), and wag H5110 (8686) his head H7218.
[17] I will scatter H6327 (8686) them as with an east H6921 wind H7307 before H6440 the enemy H341 (8802); I will shew H7200 (8799) them the back H6203, and not the face H6440, in the day H3117 of their calamity H343.
[18] Then said H559 (8799) they, Come H3212 (8798), and let us devise H2803 (8799) devices H4284 against Jeremiah H3414; for the law H8451 shall not perish H6 (8799) from the priest H3548, nor counsel H6098 from the wise H2450, nor the word H1697 from the prophet H5030. Come H3212 (8798), and let us smite H5221 (8686) him with the tongue H3956, and let us not give heed H7181 (8686) to any of his words H1697.
[19] Give heed H7181 (8685) to me, O LORD H3068, and hearken H8085 (8798) to the voice H6963 of them that contend H3401 with me.
[20] Shall evil H7451 be recompensed H7999 (8792) for good H2896? for they have digged H3738 (8804) a pit H7745 for my soul H5315. Remember H2142 (8798) that I stood H5975 (8800) before H6440 thee to speak H1696 (8763) good H2896 for them, [and] to turn away H7725 (8687) thy wrath H2534 from them.
[21] Therefore deliver up H5414 (8798) their children H1121 to the famine H7458, and pour out H5064 (8685) their [blood] by the force H3027 of the sword H2719; and let their wives H802 be bereaved H7909 of their children, and [be] widows H490; and let their men H582 be put H2026 (8803) to death H4194; [let] their young men H970 [be] slain H5221 (8716) by the sword H2719 in battle H4421.
[22] Let a cry H2201 be heard H8085 (8735) from their houses H1004, when thou shalt bring H935 (8686) a troop H1416 suddenly H6597 upon them: for they have digged H3738 (8804) a pit H7745 (8675) H7882 to take H3920 (8800) me, and hid H2934 (8804) snares H6341 for my feet H7272.
[23] Yet, LORD H3068, thou knowest H3045 (8804) all their counsel H6098 against me to slay H4194 [me]: forgive H3722 (8762) not their iniquity H5771, neither blot out H4229 (8686) their sin H2403 from thy sight H6440, but let them be overthrown H3782 (8716) before H6440 thee; deal H6213 (8798) [thus] with them in the time H6256 of thine anger H639.
Young’s Literal Translation
Jeremiah 18 (YLT)
[1] The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,
[2] Rise, and thou hast gone down to the potter’s house, and there I cause thee to hear My words;
[3] and I go down to the potter’s house, and lo, he is doing a work on the stones,
[4] and marred is the vessel that he is making, as clay in the hand of the potter, and he hath turned and he maketh it another vessel, as it was right in the eyes of the potter to make.
[5] And there is a word of Jehovah to me, saying:
[6] As this potter am I not able to do to you? O house of Israel, an affirmation of Jehovah. Lo, as clay in the hand of the potter, So are ye in My hand, O house of Israel.
[7] The moment I speak concerning a nation, And concerning a kingdom, To pluck up and to break down, and to destroy,
[8] And that nation hath turned from its evil, Because I have spoken against it, Then I have repented of the evil that I thought to do to it.
[9] And the moment I speak concerning a nation, And concerning a kingdom, to build, and to plant,
[10] And it hath done the evil thing in Mine eyes, So as not to hearken to My voice, Then I have repented of the good That I have spoken of doing to it.
[11] And now, speak, I pray thee, unto men of Judah, And against inhabitants of Jerusalem, Saying: Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am framing against you evil, And devising against you a device, Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way And amend your ways and your doings.
[12] And they have said, It is incurable, For after our own devices we do go, And each the stubbornness of his evil heart we do.
[13] Therefore, thus said Jehovah: Ask, I pray you, among the nations, Who hath heard like these? A very horrible thing hath the virgin of Israel done.
[14] Doth snow of Lebanon Cease from the rock of the field? Failed are the cold strange waters that flow?
[15] But My people have forgotten Me, to a vain thing they make perfume, And they cause them to stumble in their ways-paths of old, To walk in paths-a way not raised up,
[16] To make their land become a desolation, A hissing age-during, Every passer by it is astonished, And bemoaneth with his head.
[17] As an east wind I scatter them before an enemy, The neck, and not the face, I shew them, In the day of their calamity.’
[18] And they say, Come, And we devise against Jeremiah devices, For law doth not perish from the priest, Nor counsel from the wise, Nor the word from the prophet, Come, and we smite him with the tongue, And we do not attend to any of his words.
[19] Give attention, O Jehovah, unto me, And hearken to the voice of those contending with me.
[20] Is evil recompensed instead of good, That they have dug a pit for my soul? Remember my standing before Thee to speak good of them, To turn back Thy wrath from them.
[21] Therefore, give up their sons to famine, And cause them to run on the sides of the sword, And their wives are bereaved and widows, And their men are slain by death, Their young men smitten by sword in battle,
[22] A cry is heard from their houses, For Thou bringest against them suddenly a troop, For they dug a pit to capture me, And snares they have hidden for my feet.
[23] And Thou, O Jehovah, Thou hast known, All their counsel against me is for death, Thou dost not cover over their iniquity, Nor their sin from before Thee blottest out, And they are made to stumble before Thee, In the time of Thine anger work against them!
