The deep says, ‘It isn’t in me.’ The sea says, ‘It isn’t with me.’

I said, ‘Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.’

For Job has said, ‘I am righteous, God has taken away my right.

οτι ειρηκεν ιωβ δικαιος ειμι ο κυριος απηλλαξεν μου το κριμα

For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.’

μη γαρ ειπης οτι ουκ εσται επισκοπη ανδρος και επισκοπη αυτω παρα κυριου

who says to a king, ‘Vile!’ or to nobles, ‘Wicked!’?

Is it fit to say H559 (QalInf) to a king, H4428 Thou art wicked? H1100 and to princes, H5081 Ye are ungodly? H7563

ασεβης ο λεγων βασιλει παρανομεις ασεβεστατε τοις αρχουσιν

“For has any said to God, ‘I am guilty, but I will not offend any more.

Surely it is meet to be said H559 (NiphInf) unto God, H410 I have borne H5375 (QalPerf) chastisement, I will not offend H2254 (QalImpf) any more:

οτι προς τον ισχυρον ο λεγων ειληφα ουκ ενεχυρασω

Men of understanding will tell me, yes, every wise man who hears me:

διο συνετοι καρδιας ερουσιν ταυτα ανηρ δε σοφος ακηκοεν μου το ρημα

Moreover Elihu answered,

“Do you think this to be your right, or do you say, ‘My righteousness is more than God’s,’

τι τουτο ηγησω εν κρισει συ τις ει οτι ειπας δικαιος ειμι εναντι κυριου

that you ask, ‘What advantage will it be to you? What profit will I have, more than if I had sinned?’

Job 35:3 Or, if by it more then by my sin

How much less when you say you don’t see him. The cause is before him, and you wait for him!

Although H637 thou sayest H559 (QalImpf) thou shalt not see H7789 (QalImpf) him, Yet judgment H1779 is before H6440 him; therefore trust H2342 (PoleImpf) thou in him.

των συντελουντων τα ανομα και σωσει με κριθητι δε εναντιον αυτου ει δυνασαι αινεσαι αυτον ως εστιν

Elihu also continued, and said,

He also opens their ears to instruction, and commands that they return from iniquity.

αλλα του δικαιου εισακουσεται και ειπεν οτι επιστραφησονται εξ αδικιας

Who has prescribed his way for him? Or who can say, ‘You have committed unrighteousness’?

Teach us what we will tell him, for we can’t make our case by reason of darkness.

Then Yahweh answered Job out of the whirlwind,

and said, ‘You may come here, but no further. Your proud waves shall be stopped here’?

ειπα δε αυτη μεχρι τουτου ελευση και ουχ υπερβηση αλλ εν σεαυτη συντριβησεται σου τα κυματα

Can you send out lightnings, that they may go? Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?

Canst thou send H7971 (PielImpf) lightnings, H1300 that they may go, H3212 (QalImpf) And say H559 (QalImpf) unto thee, Here we are?^§

Job 38:35 Heb. behold us

αποστελεις δε κεραυνους και πορευσονται ερουσιν δε σοι τι εστιν
