^[39:14] ουτως ειπεν κυριος παντοκρατωρ λαβε το βιβλιον της κτησεως τουτο και το βιβλιον το ανεγνωσμενον και θησεις αυτο εις αγγειον οστρακινον ινα διαμεινη ημερας πλειους

For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says: ‘Houses and fields and vineyards will yet again be bought in this land.’

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Houses H1004 and fields H7704 and vineyards H3754 shall be possessed again H7069 (NiphImpf) in this land. H776

Now after I had delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed to Yahweh, saying,

You have said to me, Lord Yahweh, ‘Buy the field for money, and call witnesses;’ whereas the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.”

And thou hast said H559 (QalPerf) unto me, O Lord H136 God, H3069 Buy H7069 (QalImpv) thee the field H7704 for money, H3701 and take H5749 (HiphImpv) witnesses; H5707 for the city H5892 is given H5414 (NiphPerf) into the hand H3027 of the Chaldeans. H3778

Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,

^[39:26] και εγενετο λογος κυριου προς με λεγων

Therefore Yahweh says: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will take it.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Behold, I will give H5414 (QalActPtc) this city H5892 into the hand H3027 of the Chaldeans, H3778 and into the hand H3027 of Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and he shall take H3920 (QalPerf) it:

^[39:28] δια τουτο ουτως ειπεν κυριος ο θεος ισραηλ δοθεισα παραδοθησεται η πολις αυτη εις χειρας βασιλεως βαβυλωνος και λημψεται αυτην

Now therefore Yahweh, the God of Israel, says concerning this city, about which you say, “It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:”

And now therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 the God H430 of Israel, H3478 concerning this city, H5892 whereof ye say, H559 (QalActPtc) It shall be delivered H5414 (NiphPerf) into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon H894 by the sword, H2719 and by the famine, H7458 and by the pestilence; H1698

^[39:36] και νυν ουτως ειπεν κυριος ο θεος ισραηλ επι την πολιν ην συ λεγεις παραδοθησεται εις χειρας βασιλεως βαβυλωνος εν μαχαιρα και εν λιμω και εν αποστολη

For Yahweh says: “Just as I have brought all this great evil on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them.

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Like as I have brought H935 (HiphPerf) all this great H1419 evil H7451 upon this people, H5971 so will I bring H935 (HiphPtc) upon them all the good H2896 that I have promised H1696 (QalActPtc) them.

^[39:42] οτι ουτως ειπεν κυριος καθα επηγαγον επι τον λαον τουτον παντα τα κακα τα μεγαλα ταυτα ουτως εγω επαξω επ αυτους παντα τα αγαθα α ελαλησα επ αυτους

Fields will be bought in this land, about which you say, ‘It is desolate, without man or animal. It is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.’

And fields H7704 shall be bought H7069 (NiphPerf) in this land, H776 whereof ye say, H559 (QalActPtc) It is desolate H8077 without man H120 or beast; H929 it is given H5414 (NiphPerf) into the hand H3027 of the Chaldeans. H3778

Moreover Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah the second time, while he was still locked up in the court of the guard, saying,

For Yahweh, the God of Israel, says concerning the houses of this city and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are broken down to make a defense against the mounds and against the sword:

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 the God H430 of Israel, H3478 concerning the houses H1004 of this city, H5892 and concerning the houses H1004 of the kings H4428 of Judah, H3063 which are thrown down H5422 (QalPasPtc) by the mounts, H5550 and by the sword; H2719

^[40:4] οτι ουτως ειπεν κυριος ο θεος ισραηλ περι οικων της πολεως ταυτης και περι οικων βασιλεως ιουδα των καθηρημενων εις χαρακας και προμαχωνας

Yahweh says: “Yet again there will be heard in this place, about which you say, ‘It is waste, without man and without animal, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without animal,’

^[40:10] ουτως ειπεν κυριος ετι ακουσθησεται εν τω τοπω τουτω ω υμεις λεγετε ερημος εστιν απο ανθρωπων και κτηνων εν πολεσιν ιουδα και εξωθεν ιερουσαλημ ταις ηρημωμεναις παρα το μη ειναι ανθρωπον και κτηνη

the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who say, ‘Give thanks to Yahweh of Armies, for Yahweh is good, for his loving kindness endures forever;’ who bring thanksgiving into Yahweh’s house. For I will cause the captivity of the land to be reversed as at the first,” says Yahweh.

^[40:11] φωνη ευφροσυνης και φωνη χαρμοσυνης φωνη νυμφιου και φωνη νυμφης φωνη λεγοντων εξομολογεισθε κυριω παντοκρατορι οτι χρηστος κυριος οτι εις τον αιωνα το ελεος αυτου και εισοισουσιν δωρα εις οικον κυριου οτι αποστρεψω πασαν την αποικιαν της γης εκεινης κατα το προτερον ειπεν κυριος

Yahweh of Armies says: “Yet again there will be in this place, which is waste, without man and without animal, and in all its cities, a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts; H6635 Again in this place, H4725 which is desolate H2720 without man H120 and without beast, H929 and in all the cities H5892 thereof, shall be an habitation H5116 of shepherds H7462 (QalActPtc) causing their flocks H6629 to lie down. ^[40:12] ουτως ειπεν κυριος των δυναμεων ετι εσται εν τω τοπω τουτω τω ερημω παρα το μη ειναι ανθρωπον και κτηνος και εν πασαις ταις πολεσιν αυτου καταλυματα ποιμενων κοιταζοντων προβατα

In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the South, in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks will again pass under the hands of him who counts them,” says Yahweh.

For Yahweh says: “David will never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel.

Jeremiah 33:17 Heb. There shall not be cut off from David

“Yahweh says: ‘If you can break my covenant of the day and my covenant of the night, so that there will not be day and night in their time,

Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,

“Don’t consider what this people has spoken, saying, ‘Has Yahweh cast off the two families which he chose?’ Thus they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.”

Yahweh says: “If my covenant of day and night fails, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth,

The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, with all his army, all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his dominion, and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem and against all its cities, saying:

“Yet hear Yahweh’s word, O Zedekiah king of Judah. Yahweh says concerning you, ‘You won’t die by the sword.

“Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: ‘I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying:

Therefore Yahweh says: “You have not listened to me, to proclaim liberty, every man to his brother, and every man to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim to you a liberty,” says Yahweh, “to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine. I will make you be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Ye have not hearkened H8085 (QalPerf) unto me, in proclaiming H7121 (QalInf) liberty, H1865 every one H376 to his brother, H251 and every man H376 to his neighbour: H7453 behold, I proclaim H7121 (QalActPtc) a liberty H1865 for you, saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord, H3068 to the sword, H2719 to the pestilence, H1698 and to the famine; H7458 and I will make H5414 (QalPerf) you to be removed^§ H2189 (Qere) H2113 into all the kingdoms H4467 of the earth. I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls full of wine, and cups; and I said to them, “Drink wine!”

But they said, “We will drink no wine; for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying, ‘You shall drink no wine, neither you nor your children, forever.

^[42:6] και ειπαν ου μη πιωμεν οινον οτι ιωναδαβ υιος ρηχαβ ο πατηρ ημων ενετειλατο ημιν λεγων ου μη πιητε οινον υμεις και οι υιοι υμων εως αιωνος

But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, we said, ‘Come! Let’s go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians; so we will dwell at Jerusalem.’ ”

But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894 came up H5927 (QalInf) into the land, H776 that we said, H559 (QalImpf) Come, H935 (QalImpv) and let us go H935 (QalImpf) to Jerusalem H3389 for fear H6440 of the army H2428 of the Chaldeans, H3778 and for fear H6440 of the army H2428 of the Syrians: H758 so we dwell H3427 (QalImpf) at Jerusalem. ^[42:11] και εγενηθη οτε ανεβη ναβουχοδονοσορ επι την γην και ειπαμεν εισελθατε και εισελθωμεν εις ιερουσαλημ απο προσωπου της δυναμεως των χαλδαιων και απο προσωπου της δυναμεως των ασσυριων και ωκουμεν εκει

Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,

Then came the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 unto Jeremiah, H3414 saying, H559 (QalInf)

^[42:12] και εγενετο λογος κυριου προς με λεγων

“Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, “Will you not receive instruction to listen to my words?” says Yahweh.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Go H1980 (QalInf) and tell H559 (QalPerf) the men H376 of Judah H3063 and the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) of Jerusalem, H3389 Will ye not receive H3947 (QalImpf) instruction H4148 to hearken H8085 (QalInf) to my words? ^[42:13] ουτως λεγει κυριος πορευου και ειπον ανθρωπω ιουδα και τοις κατοικουσιν ιερουσαλημ ου μη λαβητε παιδειαν του ακουειν τους λογους μου

I have sent also to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, ‘Every one of you must return now from his evil way, amend your doings, and don’t go after other gods to serve them. Then you will dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers;’ but you have not inclined your ear, nor listened to me.

^[42:15] και απεστειλα προς υμας τους παιδας μου τους προφητας λεγων αποστραφητε εκαστος απο της οδου αυτου της πονηρας και βελτιω ποιησατε τα επιτηδευματα υμων και ου πορευσεσθε οπισω θεων ετερων του δουλευειν αυτοις και οικησετε επι της γης ης εδωκα υμιν και τοις πατρασιν υμων και ουκ εκλινατε τα ωτα υμων και ουκ ηκουσατε

“Therefore Yahweh, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will bring on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken to them, but they have not heard; and I have called to them, but they have not answered.’ ”

therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 God H430 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Behold, I will bring H935 (HiphPtc) upon Judah H3063 and upon all the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) of Jerusalem H3389 all the evil H7451 that I have pronounced H1696 (PielPerf) against them: because I have spoken H1696 (PielPerf) unto them, but they have not heard; H8085 (QalPerf) and I have called H7121 (QalImpf) unto them, but they have not answered. ^[42:17] δια τουτο ουτως ειπεν κυριος ιδου εγω φερω επι ιουδαν και επι τους κατοικουντας ιερουσαλημ παντα τα κακα α ελαλησα επ αυτους

Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, “Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according to all that he commanded you,’

And Jeremiah H3414 said H559 (QalPerf) unto the house H1004 of the Rechabites, H7397 Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Because ye have obeyed H8085 (QalPerf) the commandment H4687 of Jonadab H3082 your father, H1 and kept H8104 (QalImpf) all his precepts, H4687 and done H6213 (QalImpf) according unto all that he hath commanded H6680 (PielPerf) you:

^[42:18] δια τουτο ουτως ειπεν κυριος επειδη ηκουσαν υιοι ιωναδαβ υιου ρηχαβ την εντολην του πατρος αυτων ποιειν καθοτι ενετειλατο αυτοις ο πατηρ αυτων

therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Jonadab the son of Rechab will not lack a man to stand before me forever.’ ”

therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Jonadab H3122 the son H1121 of Rechab H7394 shall not want H3772 (NiphImpf) a man H376 to stand H5975 (QalActPtc) before H6440 me^§ for ever. H3117

Jeremiah 35:19 Heb. There shall not a man be cut off from, etc

^[42:19] ου μη εκλιπη ανηρ των υιων ιωναδαβ υιου ρηχαβ παρεστηκως κατα προσωπον μου πασας τας ημερας της γης

In the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

And it came to pass in the fourth H7243 year H8141 of Jehoiakim H3079 the son H1121 of Josiah H2977 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 that this word H1697 came unto Jeremiah H3414 from the Lord, H3068 saying, H559 (QalInf)

^[43:1] και εν τω ενιαυτω τω τεταρτω ιωακιμ υιου ιωσια βασιλεως ιουδα εγενηθη λογος κυριου προς με λεγων

Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, “I am restricted. I can’t go into Yahweh’s house.

And Jeremiah H3414 commanded H6680 (PielImpf) Baruch, H1263 saying, H559 (QalInf) I am shut up; H6113 (QalPasPtc) I cannot H3201 (QalImpf) go H935 (QalInf) into the house H1004 of the Lord: H3068

^[43:5] και ενετειλατο ιερεμιας τω βαρουχ λεγων εγω φυλασσομαι ου μη δυνωμαι εισελθειν εις οικον κυριου

Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, “Take in your hand the scroll in which you have read in the ears of the people, and come.” So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand, and came to them.

Therefore all the princes H8269 sent H7971 (QalImpf) Jehudi H3065 the son H1121 of Nethaniah, H5418 the son H1121 of Shelemiah, H8018 the son H1121 of Cushi, H3570 unto Baruch, H1263 saying, H559 (QalInf) Take H3947 (QalImpv) in thine hand H3027 the roll H4039 wherein thou hast read H7121 (QalPerf) in the ears H241 of the people, H5971 and come. H3212 (QalImpv) So Baruch H1263 the son H1121 of Neriah H5374 took H3947 (QalImpf) the roll H4039 in his hand, H3027 and came H935 (QalImpf) unto them.

^[43:14] και απεστειλαν παντες οι αρχοντες προς βαρουχ υιον νηριου τον ιουδιν υιον ναθανιου υιου σελεμιου υιου χουσι λεγοντες το χαρτιον εν ω συ αναγινωσκεις εν αυτω εν ωσι του λαου λαβε αυτο εις την χειρα σου και ηκε και ελαβεν βαρουχ το χαρτιον και κατεβη προς αυτους

They said to him, “Sit down now, and read it in our hearing.” So Baruch read it in their hearing.

And they said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Sit down H3427 (QalImpv) now, and read H7121 (QalImpv) it in our ears. H241 So Baruch H1263 read H7121 (QalImpf) it in their ears. H241

^[43:15] και ειπαν αυτω παλιν αναγνωθι εις τα ωτα ημων και ανεγνω βαρουχ

Now when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said to Baruch, “We will surely tell the king of all these words.”

Now it came to pass, when they had heard H8085 (QalInf) all the words, H1697 they were afraid H6342 (QalPerf) both H413 one H376 and other, H7453 and said H559 (QalImpf) unto Baruch, H1263 We will surely H5046 (HiphInf) tell H5046 (HiphImpf) the king H4428 of all these words. H1697

^[43:16] και εγενηθη ως ηκουσαν παντας τους λογους συνεβουλευσαντο εκαστος προς τον πλησιον αυτου και ειπαν αναγγελλοντες αναγγειλωμεν τω βασιλει απαντας τους λογους τουτους

They asked Baruch, saying, “Tell us now, how did you write all these words at his mouth?”

And they asked H7592 (QalPerf) Baruch, H1263 saying, H559 (QalInf) Tell H5046 (HiphImpv) us now, how didst thou write H3789 (QalPerf) all these words H1697 at his mouth? H6310

^[43:17] και τον βαρουχ ηρωτησαν λεγοντες ποθεν εγραψας παντας τους λογους τουτους

Then Baruch answered them, “He dictated all these words to me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.”

Then Baruch H1263 answered H559 (QalImpf) them, He pronounced H7121 (QalImpf) all these words H1697 unto me with his mouth, H6310 and I wrote H3789 (QalActPtc) them with ink H1773 in the book. H5612

^[43:18] και ειπεν βαρουχ απο στοματος αυτου ανηγγειλεν μοι ιερεμιας παντας τους λογους τουτους και εγραφον εν βιβλιω

Then the princes said to Baruch, “You and Jeremiah go hide. Don’t let anyone know where you are.”

Then said H559 (QalImpf) the princes H8269 unto Baruch, H1263 Go, H3212 (QalImpv) hide H5641 (NiphImpv) thee, thou and Jeremiah; H3414 and let no man H376 know H3045 (QalImpf) where H375 ye be.

^[43:19] και ειπαν τω βαρουχ βαδισον κατακρυβηθι συ και ιερεμιας ανθρωπος μη γνωτω που υμεις

Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, after the king had burned the scroll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,

Then the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 came to Jeremiah, H3414 after H310 that the king H4428 had burned H8313 (QalInf) the roll, H4039 and the words H1697 which Baruch H1263 wrote H3789 (QalPerf) at the mouth H6310 of Jeremiah, H3414 saying, H559 (QalInf)

^[43:27] και εγενετο λογος κυριου προς ιερεμιαν μετα το κατακαυσαι τον βασιλεα το χαρτιον παντας τους λογους ους εγραψεν βαρουχ απο στοματος ιερεμιου λεγων

Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, ‘Yahweh says: “You have burned this scroll, saying, ‘Why have you written therein, saying, “The king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will cause to cease from there man and animal”?’ ”

And thou shalt say H559 (QalImpf) to Jehoiakim H3079 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Thou hast burned H8313 (QalPerf) this roll, H4039 saying, H559 (QalInf) Why hast thou written H3789 (QalPerf) therein, saying, H559 (QalInf) The king H4428 of Babylon H894 shall certainly H935 (QalInf) come H935 (QalImpf) and destroy H7843 (HiphPerf) this land, H776 and shall cause to cease H7673 (HiphPerf) from thence man H120 and beast? H929

^[43:29] και ερεις ουτως ειπεν κυριος συ κατεκαυσας το χαρτιον τουτο λεγων δια τι εγραψας επ αυτω λεγων εισπορευομενος εισπορευσεται ο βασιλευς βαβυλωνος και εξολεθρευσει την γην ταυτην και εκλειψει απ αυτης ανθρωπος και κτηνη

Therefore Yahweh says concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: “He will have no one to sit on David’s throne. His dead body will be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of Jehoiakim H3079 king H4428 of Judah; H3063 He shall have none to sit H3427 (QalActPtc) upon the throne H3678 of David: H1732 and his dead body H5038 shall be cast out H7993 (HophPtc) in the day H3117 to the heat, H2721 and in the night H3915 to the frost.
