και εκοιμηθη οζιας μετα των πατερων αυτου και εθαψαν αυτον μετα των πατερων αυτου εν τω πεδιω της ταφης των βασιλεων οτι ειπαν οτι λεπρος εστιν και εβασιλευσεν ιωαθαμ υιος αυτου αντ αυτου

He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, according to all that his father Uzziah had done. However he didn’t enter into Yahweh’s temple. The people still acted corruptly.

και εποιησεν το ευθες ενωπιον κυριου κατα παντα οσα εποιησεν οζιας ο πατηρ αυτου αλλ ουκ εισηλθεν εις τον ναον κυριου και ετι ο λαος κατεφθειρετο

Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in David’s city; and Ahaz his son reigned in his place.

και εκοιμηθη ιωαθαμ μετα των πατερων αυτου και εταφη εν πολει δαυιδ και εβασιλευσεν αχαζ υιος αυτου αντ αυτου

Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. He didn’t do that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, like David his father,

υιος εικοσι ετων αχαζ εν τω βασιλευσαι αυτον και δεκα εξ ετη εβασιλευσεν εν ιερουσαλημ και ουκ εποιησεν το ευθες ενωπιον κυριου ως δαυιδ ο πατηρ αυτου

For Pekah the son of Remaliah killed in Judah one hundred twenty thousand in one day, all of them valiant men, because they had forsaken Yahweh, the God of their fathers.

και εκει ην ο προφητης του κυριου ωδηδ ονομα αυτω και εξηλθεν εις απαντησιν της δυναμεως των ερχομενων εις σαμαρειαν και ειπεν αυτοις ιδου οργη κυριου θεου των πατερων υμων επι τον ιουδαν και παρεδωκεν αυτους εις τας χειρας υμων και απεκτεινατε εν αυτοις εν οργη εως των ουρανων εφθακεν

In every city of Judah he made high places to burn incense to other gods, and provoked Yahweh, the God of his fathers, to anger.

και εν παση πολει και πολει εν ιουδα εποιησεν υψηλα θυμιαν θεοις αλλοτριοις και παρωργισαν κυριον τον θεον των πατερων αυτων

Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem, because they didn’t bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel; and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.

He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, according to all that David his father had done.

και εποιησεν το ευθες ενωπιον κυριου κατα παντα οσα εποιησεν δαυιδ ο πατηρ αυτου

and said to them, “Listen to me, you Levites! Now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify the house of Yahweh, the God of your fathers, and carry the filthiness out of the holy place.

και ειπεν αυτοις ακουσατε οι λευιται νυν αγνισθητε και αγνισατε τον οικον κυριου θεου των πατερων υμων και εκβαλετε την ακαθαρσιαν εκ των αγιων

For our fathers were unfaithful, and have done that which was evil in Yahweh our God’s sight, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of Yahweh, and turned their backs.

οτι απεστησαν οι πατερες ημων και εποιησαν το πονηρον εναντιον κυριου και εγκατελιπαν αυτον και απεστρεψαν το προσωπον απο της σκηνης κυριου και εδωκαν αυχενα

For behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.

και ιδου πεπληγασιν οι πατερες υμων μαχαιρα και οι υιοι υμων και αι θυγατερες υμων και αι γυναικες υμων εν αιχμαλωσια εν γη ουκ αυτων ο και νυν εστιν

Don’t be like your fathers and like your brothers, who trespassed against Yahweh, the God of their fathers, so that he gave them up to desolation, as you see.

And be not ye like your fathers, H1 and like your brethren, H251 which trespassed H4603 (QalPerf) against the Lord H3068 God H430 of their fathers, H1 [who] therefore gave them up H5414 (QalImpf) to desolation, H8047 as ye see. H7200 (QalActPtc)

και μη γινεσθε καθως οι πατερες υμων και οι αδελφοι υμων οι απεστησαν απο κυριου θεου πατερων αυτων και παρεδωκεν αυτους εις ερημωσιν καθως υμεις ορατε

Now don’t be stiff-necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to Yahweh, and enter into his sanctuary, which he has sanctified forever, and serve Yahweh your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you.

και νυν μη σκληρυνητε τους τραχηλους υμων δοτε δοξαν κυριω τω θεω και εισελθατε εις το αγιασμα αυτου ο ηγιασεν εις τον αιωνα και δουλευσατε τω κυριω θεω υμων και αποστρεψει αφ υμων θυμον οργης

who sets his heart to seek God, Yahweh, the God of his fathers, even if they aren’t clean according to the purification of the sanctuary.”

πασης καρδιας κατευθυνουσης εκζητησαι κυριον τον θεον των πατερων αυτων και ου κατα την αγνειαν των αγιων

Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who had good understanding in the service of Yahweh. So they ate throughout the feast for the seven days, offering sacrifices of peace offerings and making confession to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.

ουτος ο καταλοχισμος των ιερεων κατ οικους πατριων και οι λευιται εν ταις εφημεριαις αυτων απο εικοσαετους και επανω εν διαταξει

Don’t you know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of those lands in any way able to deliver their land out of my hand?

ου γνωσεσθε ο τι εποιησα εγω και οι πατερες μου πασι τοις λαοις των χωρων μη δυναμενοι ηδυναντο θεοι των εθνων πασης της γης σωσαι τον λαον αυτων εκ χειρος μου

Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand?

τις εν πασι τοις θεοις των εθνων τουτων ους εξωλεθρευσαν οι πατερες μου μη ηδυναντο σωσαι τον λαον αυτων εκ χειρος μου οτι δυνησεται ο θεος υμων σωσαι υμας εκ χειρος μου

Now therefore don’t let Hezekiah deceive you nor persuade you in this way. Don’t believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you out of my hand?”

Now therefore let not H3808 Hezekiah H2396 deceive H5377 (HiphImpf) you, nor persuade H5496 (HiphImpf) you on this manner, neither yet believe H539 (HiphImpf) him: for no god H433 of any nation H1471 or kingdom H4467 was able H3201 (QalImpf) to deliver H5337 (HiphInf) his people H5971 out of mine hand, H3027 and out of the hand H3027 of my fathers: H1 how much less shall your God H430 deliver H5337 (HiphImpf) you out of mine hand? νυν μη απατατω υμας εζεκιας και μη πεποιθεναι υμας ποιειτω κατα ταυτα και μη πιστευετε αυτω οτι ου μη δυνηται ο θεος παντος εθνους και βασιλειας του σωσαι τον λαον αυτου εκ χειρος μου και εκ χειρος πατερων μου οτι ο θεος υμων ου μη σωσει υμας εκ χειρος μου

Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the ascent to the tombs of the sons of David. All Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honored him at his death. Manasseh his son reigned in his place.

And Hezekiah H3169 slept H7901 (QalImpf) with his fathers, H1 and they buried H6912 (QalImpf) him in the chiefest H4608 of the sepulchres H6913 of the sons H1121 of David: H1732 and all Judah H3063 and the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) of Jerusalem H3389 did him H6213 (QalPerf) honour H3519 at his death. H4194 And Manasseh H4519 his son H1121 reigned H4427 (QalImpf) in his stead.

For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down; and he raised up altars for the Baals, made Asheroth, and worshiped all the army of the sky, and served them.

For he built H1129 (QalImpf) again H7725 (QalImpf) the high places H1116 which Hezekiah H3169 his father H1 had broken down, H5422 (PielPerf) and he reared up H6965 (HiphImpf) altars H4196 for Baalim, H1168 and made H6213 (QalImpf) groves, H842 and worshipped H7812 (HithImpf) all the host H6635 of heaven, H8064 and served H5647 (QalImpf) them.

και επεστρεψεν και ωκοδομησεν τα υψηλα α κατεσπασεν εζεκιας ο πατηρ αυτου και εστησεν στηλας ταις βααλιμ και εποιησεν αλση και προσεκυνησεν παση τη στρατια του ουρανου και εδουλευσεν αυτοις

I will not any more remove the foot of Israel from off the land which I have appointed for your fathers, if only they will observe to do all that I have commanded them, even all the law, the statutes, and the ordinances given by Moses.”

και ου προσθησω σαλευσαι τον ποδα ισραηλ απο της γης ης εδωκα τοις πατρασιν αυτων πλην εαν φυλασσωνται του ποιησαι παντα α ενετειλαμην αυτοις κατα παντα τον νομον και τα προσταγματα και τα κριματα εν χειρι μωυση

When he was in distress, he begged Yahweh his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.

και εκοιμηθη μανασσης μετα των πατερων αυτου και εθαψαν αυτον εν παραδεισω οικου αυτου και εβασιλευσεν αντ αυτου αμων υιος αυτου

He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, as did Manasseh his father; and Amon sacrificed to all the engraved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them.

But he did H6213 (QalImpf) [that which was] evil H7451 in the sight H5869 of the Lord, H3068 as did H6213 (QalPerf) Manasseh H4519 his father: H1 for Amon H526 sacrificed H2076 (PielPerf) unto all the carved images H6456 which Manasseh H4519 his father H1 had made, H6213 (QalPerf) and served H5647 (QalImpf) them;

και εποιησεν το πονηρον ενωπιον κυριου ως εποιησεν μανασσης ο πατηρ αυτου και πασιν τοις ειδωλοις οις εποιησεν μανασσης ο πατηρ αυτου εθυεν αμων και εδουλευσεν αυτοις

He didn’t humble himself before Yahweh, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but this same Amon trespassed more and more.

And humbled H3665 (NiphPerf) not himself before H6440 the Lord, H3068 as Manasseh H4519 his father H1 had humbled H3665 (NiphInf) himself; but Amon H526 trespassed H819 more and more. H7235 (HiphPerf)

και ουκ εταπεινωθη εναντιον κυριου ως εταπεινωθη μανασσης ο πατηρ αυτου οτι υιος αυτου αμων επληθυνεν πλημμελειαν

He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, and walked in the ways of David his father, and didn’t turn away to the right hand or to the left.

For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, the Asherah poles, the engraved images, and the molten images.

“Go inquire of Yahweh for me, and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found; for great is Yahweh’s wrath that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept Yahweh’s word, to do according to all that is written in this book.”

πορευθητε ζητησατε τον κυριον περι εμου και περι παντος του καταλειφθεντος εν ισραηλ και ιουδα περι των λογων του βιβλιου του ευρεθεντος οτι μεγας ο θυμος κυριου εκκεκαυται εν ημιν διοτι ουκ εισηκουσαν οι πατερες ημων των λογων κυριου του ποιησαι κατα παντα τα γεγραμμενα εν τω βιβλιω τουτω

“Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes won’t see all the evil that I will bring on this place and on its inhabitants.” ’ ” They brought back this message to the king.

ιδου προστιθημι σε προς τους πατερας σου και προστεθηση προς τα μνηματα σου εν ειρηνη και ουκ οψονται οι οφθαλμοι σου εν πασιν τοις κακοις οις εγω επαγω επι τον τοπον τουτον και επι τους κατοικουντας αυτον και απεδωκαν τω βασιλει λογον

He caused all who were found in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand. The inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that belonged to the children of Israel, and made all who were found in Israel to serve, even to serve Yahweh their God. All his days they didn’t depart from following Yahweh, the God of their fathers.

And Josiah H2977 took away H5493 (HiphImpf) all the abominations H8441 out of all the countries H776 that [pertained] to the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 and made all that were present H4672 (NiphPtc) in Israel H3478 to serve, H5647 (HiphImpf) [even] to serve H5647 (QalInf) the Lord H3068 their God. H430 [And] all his days H3117 they departed H5493 (QalPerf) not from following H310 the Lord, H3068 the God H430 of their fathers. H1

και περιειλεν ιωσιας τα παντα βδελυγματα εκ πασης της γης η ην υιων ισραηλ και εποιησεν παντας τους ευρεθεντας εν ιερουσαλημ και εν ισραηλ του δουλευειν κυριω θεω αυτων πασας τας ημερας αυτου ουκ εξεκλινεν απο οπισθεν κυριου θεου πατερων αυτου

Prepare yourselves after your fathers’ houses by your divisions, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son.

And prepare H3559 (HiphImpv) (Qere) H3559 (NiphImpv) [yourselves] by the houses H1004 of your fathers, H1 after your courses, H4256 according to the writing H3791 of David H1732 king H4428 of Israel, H3478 and according to the writing H4385 of Solomon H8010 his son. H1121

και ετοιμασθητε κατ οικους πατριων υμων και κατα τας εφημεριας υμων κατα την γραφην δαυιδ βασιλεως ισραηλ και δια χειρος σαλωμων υιου αυτου

Stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of your brothers the children of the people, and let there be for each a portion of a fathers’ house of the Levites.

And stand in H5975 (QalImpv) the holy H6944 [place] according to the divisions H6391 of the families H1004 of the fathers H1 of your brethren H251 the people, H1121 H5971 and [after] the division H2515 of the families H1 H1004 of the Levites. H3881

και στητε εν τω οικω κατα τας διαιρεσεις οικων πατριων υμων τοις αδελφοις υμων υιοις του λαου και μερις οικου πατριας τοις λευιταις

They removed the burnt offerings, that they might give them according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of the children of the people, to offer to Yahweh, as it is written in the book of Moses. They did the same with the cattle.

And they removed H5493 (HiphImpf) the burnt offerings, H5930 that they might give H5414 (QalInf) according to the divisions H4653 of the families H1 H1004 of the people, H1121 H5971 to offer H7126 (HiphInf) unto the Lord, H3068 as [it is] written H3789 (QalPasPtc) in the book H5612 of Moses. H4872 And so [did they] with the oxen. H1241

και ητοιμασαν την ολοκαυτωσιν παραδουναι αυτοις κατα την διαιρεσιν κατ οικους πατριων τοις υιοις του λαου του προσαγειν τω κυριω ως γεγραπται εν βιβλιω μωυση και ουτως εις το πρωι

So his servants took him out of the chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had, and brought him to Jerusalem; and he died, and was buried in the tombs of his fathers. All Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

και εξηγαγον αυτον οι παιδες αυτου απο του αρματος και ανεβιβασαν αυτον επι το αρμα το δευτερευον ο ην αυτω και ηγαγον αυτον εις ιερουσαλημ και απεθανεν και εταφη μετα των πατερων αυτου και πας ιουδα και ιερουσαλημ επενθησαν επι ιωσιαν

Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father’s place in Jerusalem.

και ελαβεν ο λαος της γης τον ιωαχαζ υιον ιωσιου και εχρισαν αυτον και κατεστησαν αυτον εις βασιλεα αντι του πατρος αυτου εν ιερουσαλημ

Yahweh, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place;

και εξαπεστειλεν κυριος ο θεος των πατερων αυτων εν χειρι προφητων ορθριζων και αποστελλων τους αγγελους αυτου οτι ην φειδομενος του λαου αυτου και του αγιασματος αυτου

Then the heads of fathers’ households of Judah and Benjamin, the priests and the Levites, all whose spirit God had stirred to go up, rose up to build Yahweh’s house which is in Jerusalem.

και ανεστησαν αρχοντες των πατριων τω ιουδα και βενιαμιν και οι ιερεις και οι λευιται παντων ων εξηγειρεν ο θεος το πνευμα αυτων του αναβηναι οικοδομησαι τον οικον κυριου τον εν ιερουσαλημ

These were those who went up from Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer; but they could not show their fathers’ houses and their offspring,^§ whether they were of Israel:

και ουτοι οι αναβαντες απο θελμελεθ θελαρησα χαρουβ ηδαν εμμηρ και ουκ ηδυνασθησαν του αναγγειλαι οικον πατριας αυτων και σπερμα αυτων ει εξ ισραηλ εισιν

Some of the heads of fathers’ households, when they came to Yahweh’s house which is in Jerusalem, offered willingly for God’s house to set it up in its place.

And [some] of the chief H7218 of the fathers, H1 when they came H935 (QalInf) to the house H1004 of the Lord H3068 which [is] at Jerusalem, H3389 offered freely H5068 (HithPerf) for the house H1004 of God H430 to set it up H5975 (HiphInf) in his place: H4349

και απο αρχοντων πατριων εν τω ελθειν αυτους εις οικον κυριου τον εν ιερουσαλημ ηκουσιασαντο εις οικον του θεου του στησαι αυτον επι την ετοιμασιαν αυτου

But many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers’ households, the old men who had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice. Many also shouted aloud for joy,

και πολλοι απο των ιερεων και των λευιτων και αρχοντες των πατριων οι πρεσβυτεροι οι ειδοσαν τον οικον τον πρωτον εν θεμελιωσει αυτου και τουτον τον οικον εν οφθαλμοις αυτων εκλαιον φωνη μεγαλη και οχλος εν σημασια μετ ευφροσυνης του υψωσαι ωδην

they came near to Zerubbabel, and to the heads of fathers’ households, and said to them, “Let us build with you, for we seek your God as you do; and we have been sacrificing to him since the days of Esar Haddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here.”

και ηγγισαν προς ζοροβαβελ και προς τους αρχοντας των πατριων και ειπαν αυτοις οικοδομησομεν μεθ υμων οτι ως υμεις εκζητουμεν τω θεω υμων και αυτω ημεις θυσιαζομεν απο ημερων ασαραδδων βασιλεως ασσουρ του ενεγκαντος ημας ωδε

But Zerubbabel, Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of fathers’ households of Israel said to them, “You have nothing to do with us in building a house to our God; but we ourselves together will build to Yahweh, the God of Israel, as King Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us.”

But Zerubbabel, H2216 and Jeshua, H3442 and the rest H7605 of the chief H7218 of the fathers H1 of Israel, H3478 said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build H1129 (QalInf) an house H1004 unto our God; H430 but we ourselves together H3162 will build H1129 (QalImpf) unto the Lord H3068 God H430 of Israel, H3478 as king H4428 Cyrus H3566 the king H4428 of Persia H6539 hath commanded H6680 (PielPerf) us.

και ειπεν προς αυτους ζοροβαβελ και ιησους και οι καταλοιποι των αρχοντων των πατριων του ισραηλ ουχ ημιν και υμιν του οικοδομησαι οικον τω θεω ημων οτι ημεις αυτοι επι το αυτο οικοδομησομεν τω κυριω θεω ημων ως ενετειλατο ημιν κυρος ο βασιλευς περσων

Blessed be Yahweh, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify Yahweh’s house which is in Jerusalem;

Now these are the heads of their fathers’ households, and this is the genealogy of those who went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king:

και ουτοι οι αρχοντες πατριων αυτων οι οδηγοι αναβαινοντες μετ εμου εν βασιλεια αρθασασθα του βασιλεως βαβυλωνος

I said to them, “You are holy to Yahweh, and the vessels are holy. The silver and the gold are a free will offering to Yahweh, the God of your fathers.

And I said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, Ye [are] holy H6944 unto the Lord; H3068 the vessels H3627 [are] holy H6944 also; and the silver H3701 and the gold H2091 [are] a freewill offering H5071 unto the Lord H3068 God H430 of your fathers. H1

και ειπα προς αυτους υμεις αγιοι τω κυριω και τα σκευη αγια και το αργυριον και το χρυσιον εκουσια τω κυριω θεω πατερων υμων

Watch and keep them until you weigh them before the chiefs of the priests, the Levites, and the princes of the fathers’ households of Israel at Jerusalem, in the rooms of Yahweh’s house.”

Watch H8245 (QalImpv) ye, and keep H8104 (QalImpv) [them], until ye weigh H8254 (QalImpf) [them] before H6440 the chief H8269 of the priests H3548 and the Levites, H3881 and chief H8269 of the fathers H1 of Israel, H3478 at Jerusalem, H3389 in the chambers H3957 of the house H1004 of the Lord.
