You shall observe to do therefore as Yahweh your God has commanded you. You shall not turn away to the right hand or to the left.

Hear therefore, Israel, and observe to do it, that it may be well with you, and that you may increase mightily, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised to you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

You shall consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Yahweh your God disciplines you.

Know therefore today that Yahweh your God is he who goes over before you as a devouring fire. He will destroy them and he will bring them down before you. So you shall drive them out and make them perish quickly, as Yahweh has spoken to you.

και πολυωρησει σε κυριος ο θεος σου εν παντι εργω των χειρων σου εν τοις εκγονοις της κοιλιας σου και εν τοις γενημασιν της γης σου και εν τοις εκγονοις των κτηνων σου οτι επιστρεψει κυριος ο θεος σου ευφρανθηναι επι σε εις αγαθα καθοτι ηυφρανθη επι τοις πατρασιν σου

Yahweh your God himself will go over before you. He will destroy these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua will go over before you, as Yahweh has spoken.

Yahweh will do to them as he did to Sihon and to Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land, when he destroyed them.

No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you nor forsake you.

The men pursued them along the way to the fords of the Jordan River. As soon as those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate.

Yahweh said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to magnify you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.

When all the nation had completely crossed over the Jordan, Yahweh spoke to Joshua, saying,

και επει συνετελεσεν πας ο λαος διαβαινων τον ιορδανην και ειπεν κυριος τω ιησοι λεγων

The children of Israel did as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the middle of the Jordan, as Yahweh spoke to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel. They carried them over with them to the place where they camped, and laid them down there.

When all the people had completely crossed over, Yahweh’s ark crossed over with the priests in the presence of the people.

και εγενετο ως συνετελεσεν πας ο λαος διαβηναι και διεβη η κιβωτος της διαθηκης κυριου και οι λιθοι εμπροσθεν αυτων

The children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh crossed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spoke to them.

και διεβησαν οι υιοι ρουβην και οι υιοι γαδ και οι ημισεις φυλης μανασση διεσκευασμενοι εμπροσθεν των υιων ισραηλ καθαπερ ενετειλατο αυτοις μωυσης

On that day, Yahweh magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.

αποξηραναντος κυριου του θεου ημων το υδωρ του ιορδανου εκ του εμπροσθεν αυτων μεχρι ου διεβησαν καθαπερ εποιησεν κυριος ο θεος ημων την ερυθραν θαλασσαν ην απεξηρανεν κυριος ο θεος ημων εμπροσθεν ημων εως παρηλθομεν

The princes said to them, “Let them live.” So they became wood cutters and drawers of water for all the congregation, as the princes had spoken to them.

And the princes H5387 said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, Let them live; H2421 (QalImpf) but let them be hewers H2404 (QalActPtc) of wood H6086 and drawers H7579 (QalActPtc) of water H4325 unto all the congregation; H5712 as the princes H5387 had promised H1696 (PielPerf) them.

ζησονται και εσονται ξυλοκοποι και υδροφοροι παση τη συναγωγη καθαπερ ειπαν αυτοις οι αρχοντες

Now when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them,

ως δε ηκουσεν αδωνιβεζεκ βασιλευς ιερουσαλημ οτι ελαβεν ιησους την γαι και εξωλεθρευσεν αυτην ον τροπον εποιησαν την ιεριχω και τον βασιλεα αυτης ουτως εποιησαν την γαι και τον βασιλεα αυτης και οτι αυτομολησαν οι κατοικουντες γαβαων προς ιησουν και προς ισραηλ

Joshua took Makkedah on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king. He utterly destroyed it and all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining. He did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.

και την μακηδα ελαβοσαν εν τη ημερα εκεινη και εφονευσαν αυτην εν στοματι ξιφους και εξωλεθρευσαν παν εμπνεον εν αυτη και ου κατελειφθη εν αυτη ουδεις διασεσωσμενος και διαπεφευγως και εποιησαν τω βασιλει μακηδα ον τροπον εποιησαν τω βασιλει ιεριχω

Yahweh delivered it also, with its king, into the hand of Israel. He struck it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining in it. He did to its king as he had done to the king of Jericho.

He took it, with its king and all its cities. They struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining. As he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to its king; as he had done also to Libnah, and to its king.

and he took H3920 (QalImpf) it, and the king H4428 thereof, and all the cities H5892 thereof; and they smote H5221 (HiphImpf) them with the edge H6310 of the sword, H2719 and utterly destroyed H2763 (HiphImpf) all the souls H5315 that were therein; he left H7604 (HiphPerf) none remaining: H8300 as he had done H6213 (QalPerf) to Hebron, H2275 so he did H6213 (QalPerf) to Debir, H1688 and to the king H4428 thereof; as he had done H6213 (QalPerf) also to Libnah, H3841 and to her king. ελαβον αυτην και τον βασιλεα αυτης και τας κωμας αυτης και επαταξαν αυτην εν στοματι ξιφους και εξωλεθρευσαν αυτην και παν εμπνεον εν αυτη και ου κατελιπον αυτη ουδενα διασεσωσμενον ον τροπον εποιησαν την χεβρων και τω βασιλει αυτης ουτως εποιησαν τη δαβιρ και τω βασιλει αυτης

So Joshua struck all the land, the hill country, the South, the lowland, the slopes, and all their kings. He left no one remaining, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as Yahweh, the God of Israel, commanded.

So Joshua H3091 smote H5221 (HiphImpf) all the country H776 of the hills, H2022 and of the south, H5045 and of the vale, H8219 and of the springs, H794 and all their kings: H4428 he left H7604 (HiphPerf) none remaining, H8300 but utterly destroyed H2763 (HiphPerf) all that breathed, H5397 as the Lord H3068 God H430 of Israel H3478 commanded. και επαταξεν ιησους πασαν την γην της ορεινης και την ναγεβ και την πεδινην και την ασηδωθ και τους βασιλεις αυτης ου κατελιπον αυτων σεσωσμενον και παν εμπνεον ζωης εξωλεθρευσεν ον τροπον ενετειλατο κυριος ο θεος ισραηλ

Joshua captured all the cities of those kings, with their kings, and he struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded.

And all the cities H5892 of those kings, H4428 and all the kings H4428 of them, did Joshua H3091 take, H3920 (QalPerf) and smote H5221 (HiphImpf) them with the edge H6310 of the sword, H2719 and he utterly destroyed H2763 (HiphPerf) them, as Moses H4872 the servant H5650 of the Lord H3068 commanded. και πασας τας πολεις των βασιλεων και τους βασιλεις αυτων ελαβεν ιησους και ανειλεν αυτους εν στοματι ξιφους και εξωλεθρευσαν αυτους ον τροπον συνεταξεν μωυσης ο παις κυριου

As Yahweh commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua. Joshua did so. He left nothing undone of all that Yahweh commanded Moses.

ον τροπον συνεταξεν κυριος τω μωυση τω παιδι αυτου και μωυσης ωσαυτως ενετειλατο τω ιησοι και ουτως εποιησεν ιησους ου παρεβη ουδεν απο παντων ων συνεταξεν αυτω μωυσης

For it was of Yahweh to harden their hearts, to come against Israel in battle, that he might utterly destroy them, that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

The children of Israel did as Yahweh commanded Moses, and they divided the land.

και νυν διεθρεψεν με κυριος ον τροπον ειπεν τουτο τεσσαρακοστον και πεμπτον ετος αφ ου ελαλησεν κυριος το ρημα τουτο προς μωυσην και επορευθη ισραηλ εν τη ερημω και νυν ιδου εγω σημερον ογδοηκοντα και πεντε ετων

Yahweh your God will thrust them out from before you, and drive them from out of your sight. You shall possess their land, as Yahweh your God spoke to you.

One man of you shall chase a thousand; for it is Yahweh your God who fights for you, as he spoke to you.

εις υμων εδιωξεν χιλιους οτι κυριος ο θεος υμων εξεπολεμει υμιν καθαπερ ειπεν υμιν

It shall happen that as all the good things have come on you of which Yahweh your God spoke to you, so Yahweh will bring on you all the evil things, until he has destroyed you from off this good land which Yahweh your God has given you,
