Now therefore command that cedar trees be cut for me out of Lebanon. My servants will be with your servants; and I will give you wages for your servants according to all that you say. For you know that there is nobody among us who knows how to cut timber like the Sidonians.”

So Hiram gave Solomon cedar timber and cypress timber according to all his desire.

Yahweh gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him. There was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty together.

And the Lord H3068 gave H5414 (QalPerf) Solomon H8010 wisdom, H2451 as he promised H1696 (PielPerf) him: and there was peace H7965 between Hiram H2438 and Solomon; H8010 and they two H8147 made H3772 (QalImpf) a league H1285 together. H8147

King Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.

In the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, he began to build Yahweh’s house.

Yahweh’s word came to Solomon, saying,

In front of the temple sanctuary was forty cubits long.

And the house, H1004 that is, the temple H1964 before H3942 it, was forty H705 cubits H520 long.

και τεσσαρακοντα πηχων ην ο ναος κατα προσωπον

His house where he was to dwell, the other court within the porch, was of the same construction. He made also a house for Pharaoh’s daughter (whom Solomon had taken as wife), like this porch.

And his house H1004 where he dwelt H3427 (QalImpf) had another H312 court H2691 within H1004 the porch, H197 which was of the like work. H4639 Solomon H8010 made H6213 (QalImpf) also an house H1004 for Pharaoh’s H6547 daughter, H1323 whom he had taken H3947 (QalPerf) to wife, like unto this porch. H197

The poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the holy place before the inner sanctuary, but they were not seen outside. They are there to this day.

αφ ης ημερας εξηγαγον τον λαον μου τον ισραηλ εξ αιγυπτου ουκ εξελεξαμην εν πολει εν ενι σκηπτρω ισραηλ του οικοδομησαι οικον του ειναι το ονομα μου εκει και εξελεξαμην εν ιερουσαλημ ειναι το ονομα μου εκει και εξελεξαμην τον δαυιδ του ειναι επι τον λαον μου τον ισραηλ

“Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

And it was in the heart H3824 of David H1732 my father H1 to build H1129 (QalInf) an house H1004 for the name H8034 of the Lord H3068 God H430 of Israel. H3478

και εγενετο επι της καρδιας δαυιδ του πατρος μου οικοδομησαι οικον τω ονοματι κυριου θεου ισραηλ

But Yahweh said to David my father, ‘Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart.

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto David H1732 my father, H1 Whereas H3282 H834 it was in thine heart H3824 to build H1129 (QalInf) an house H1004 unto my name, H8034 thou didst well H2895 (HiphPerf) that it was in thine heart. H3824

και ειπεν κυριος προς δαυιδ τον πατερα μου ανθ ων ηλθεν επι την καρδιαν σου του οικοδομησαι οικον τω ονοματι μου καλως εποιησας οτι εγενηθη επι την καρδιαν σου

that your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which you have said, ‘My name shall be there;’ to listen to the prayer which your servant prays toward this place.

του ειναι οφθαλμους σου ηνεωγμενους εις τον οικον τουτον ημερας και νυκτος εις τον τοπον ον ειπας εσται το ονομα μου εκει του εισακουειν της προσευχης ης προσευχεται ο δουλος σου εις τον τοπον τουτον ημερας και νυκτος

“When the sky is shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against you, if they pray toward this place and confess your name, and turn from their sin when you afflict them,

εν τω συσχεθηναι τον ουρανον και μη γενεσθαι υετον οτι αμαρτησονται σοι και προσευξονται εις τον τοπον τουτον και εξομολογησονται τω ονοματι σου και απο των αμαρτιων αυτων αποστρεψουσιν οταν ταπεινωσης αυτους

“If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, if there is blight, mildew, locust or caterpillar; if their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities, whatever plague, whatever sickness there is,

If there be in the land H776 famine, H7458 if there be pestilence, H1698 blasting, H7711 mildew, H3420 locust, H697 or if there be caterpiller; H2625 if their enemy H341 (QalActPtc) besiege H6887 (HiphImpf) them in the land H776 of their cities;^§ H8179 whatsoever plague, H5061 whatsoever sickness H4245 there be;

whatever prayer and supplication is made by any man, or by all your people Israel, who shall each know the plague of his own heart, and spread out his hands toward this house,

πασαν προσευχην πασαν δεησιν εαν γενηται παντι ανθρωπω ως αν γνωσιν εκαστος αφην καρδιας αυτου και διαπεταση τας χειρας αυτου εις τον οικον τουτον

that your eyes may be open to the supplication of your servant and to the supplication of your people Israel, to listen to them whenever they cry to you.

that thine eyes H5869 may be open H6605 (QalPasPtc) unto the supplication H8467 of thy servant, H5650 and unto the supplication H8467 of thy people H5971 Israel, H3478 to hearken H8085 (QalInf) unto them in all that they call H7121 (QalInf) for unto thee.

και εστωσαν οι οφθαλμοι σου και τα ωτα σου ηνεωγμενα εις την δεησιν του δουλου σου και εις την δεησιν του λαου σου ισραηλ εισακουειν αυτων εν πασιν οις αν επικαλεσωνται σε

It was so, that when Solomon had finished praying all this prayer and supplication to Yahweh, he arose from before Yahweh’s altar, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread out toward heaven.

And it was so, that when Solomon H8010 had made an end H3615 (PielInf) of praying H6419 (HithInf) all this prayer H8605 and supplication H8467 unto the Lord, H3068 he arose H6965 (QalPerf) from before H6440 the altar H4196 of the Lord, H3068 from kneeling H3766 (QalInf) on his knees H1290 with his hands H3709 spread up H6566 (QalPasPtc) to heaven. και εγενετο ως συνετελεσεν σαλωμων προσευχομενος προς κυριον ολην την προσευχην και την δεησιν ταυτην και ανεστη απο προσωπου του θυσιαστηριου κυριου οκλακως επι τα γονατα αυτου και αι χειρες αυτου διαπεπετασμεναι εις τον ουρανον

May Yahweh our God be with us as he was with our fathers. Let him not leave us or forsake us,

The Lord H3068 our God H430 be with us, as he was with our fathers: H1 let him not leave H5800 (QalImpf) us, nor forsake H5203 (QalImpf) us:

γενοιτο κυριος ο θεος ημων μεθ ημων καθως ην μετα των πατερων ημων μη εγκαταλιποιτο ημας μηδε αποστρεψοιτο ημας

Let these my words, with which I have made supplication before Yahweh, be near to Yahweh our God day and night, that he may maintain the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel, as every day requires;

And let these my words, H1697 wherewith I have made supplication H2603 (HithPerf) before H6440 the Lord, H3068 be nigh H7138 unto the Lord H3068 our God H430 day H3119 and night, H3915 that he maintain H6213 (QalInf) the cause H4941 of his servant, H5650 and the cause H4941 of his people H5971 Israel H3478 at all times,^§ H3117 H3117 as the matter H1697 shall require:

“Let your heart therefore be perfect with Yahweh our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as it is today.”

When Solomon had finished the building of Yahweh’s house, the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do,

And it came to pass, when Solomon H8010 had finished H3615 (PielInf) the building H1129 (QalInf) of the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and the king’s H4428 house, H1004 and all Solomon’s H8010 desire H2837 which he was pleased H2654 (QalPerf) to do, H6213 (QalInf)

και εγενηθη ως συνετελεσεν σαλωμων οικοδομειν τον οικον κυριου και τον οικον του βασιλεως και πασαν την πραγματειαν σαλωμων οσα ηθελησεν ποιησαι

Yahweh said to him, “I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before me. I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, I have heard H8085 (QalPerf) thy prayer H8605 and thy supplication, H8467 that thou hast made H2603 (HithPerf) before H6440 me: I have hallowed H6942 (HiphPerf) this house, H1004 which thou hast built, H1129 (QalPerf) to put H7760 (QalInf) my name H8034 there for H5704 ever; H5769 and mine eyes H5869 and mine heart H3820 shall be there perpetually. και ειπεν προς αυτον κυριος ηκουσα της φωνης της προσευχης σου και της δεησεως σου ης εδεηθης ενωπιον εμου πεποιηκα σοι κατα πασαν την προσευχην σου ηγιακα τον οικον τουτον ον ωκοδομησας του θεσθαι το ονομα μου εκει εις τον αιωνα και εσονται οι οφθαλμοι μου εκει και η καρδια μου πασας τας ημερας

then I will cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and I will cast this house, which I have made holy for my name, out of my sight; and Israel will be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

then will I cut off H3772 (HiphPerf) Israel H3478 out H6440 of the land H127 which I have given H5414 (QalPerf) them; and this house, H1004 which I have hallowed H6942 (HiphPerf) for my name, H8034 will I cast out H7971 (PielImpf) of my sight; H6440 and Israel H3478 shall be a proverb H4912 and a byword H8148 among all people: H5971

και εξαρω τον ισραηλ απο της γης ης εδωκα αυτοις και τον οικον τουτον ον ηγιασα τω ονοματι μου απορριψω εκ προσωπου μου και εσται ισραηλ εις αφανισμον και εις λαλημα εις παντας τους λαους

Though this house is so high, yet everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss; and they will say, ‘Why has Yahweh done this to this land and to this house?’

and at this house, H1004 which is high, H5945 every one that passeth H5674 (QalActPtc) by it shall be astonished, H8074 (QalImpf) and shall hiss; H8319 (QalPerf) and they shall say, H559 (QalPerf) Why hath the Lord H3068 done H6213 (QalPerf) thus unto this land, H776 and to this house? H1004

και ο οικος ουτος ο υψηλος πας ο διαπορευομενος δι αυτου εκστησεται και συριει και ερουσιν ενεκα τινος εποιησεν κυριος ουτως τη γη ταυτη και τω οικω τουτω

At the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, Yahweh’s house and the king’s house

And it came to pass at the end H7097 of twenty H6242 years, H8141 when Solomon H8010 had built H1129 (QalPerf) the two H8147 houses, H1004 the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and the king’s H4428 house, H1004

εικοσι ετη εν οις ωκοδομησεν σαλωμων τους δυο οικους τον οικον κυριου και τον οικον του βασιλεως

all the storage cities that Solomon had, the cities for his chariots, the cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

She came to Jerusalem with a very great caravan, with camels that bore spices, very much gold, and precious stones; and when she had come to Solomon, she talked with him about all that was in her heart.

Solomon answered all her questions. There wasn’t anything hidden from the king which he didn’t tell her.

And Solomon H8010 told H5046 (HiphImpf) her all her questions:^§ H1697 there was not any thing H1697 hid H5956 (NiphPtc) from the king, H4428 which he told H5046 (HiphPerf) her not.
