1 Kings 6 (WEBP)
[1] In the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, he began to build Yahweh’s house.
[2] The house which King Solomon built for Yahweh had a length of sixty cubits,° and its width twenty, and its height thirty cubits.
[3] The porch in front of the temple of the house had a length of twenty cubits, which was along the width of the house. Ten cubits was its width in front of the house.
[4] He made windows of fixed lattice work for the house.
[5] Against the wall of the house, he built floors all around, against the walls of the house all around, both of the temple and of the inner sanctuary; and he made side rooms all around.
[6] The lowest floor was five cubits wide, and the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits wide; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house all around, that the beams should not be inserted into the walls of the house.
[7] The house, when it was under construction, was built of stone prepared at the quarry; and no hammer or ax or any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was under construction.
[8] The door for the middle side rooms was in the right side of the house. They went up by winding stairs into the middle floor, and out of the middle into the third.
[9] So he built the house and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.
[10] He built the floors all along the house, each five cubits high; and they rested on the house with timbers of cedar.
[11] Yahweh’s word came to Solomon, saying,
[12] “Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes, and execute my ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father.
[13] I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.”
[14] So Solomon built the house and finished it.
[15] He built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood. He covered the floor of the house with cypress boards.
[16] He built twenty cubits of the back part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the ceiling. He built this within, for an inner sanctuary, even for the most holy place.
[17] In front of the temple sanctuary was forty cubits long.
[18] There was cedar on the house within, carved with buds and open flowers. All was cedar. No stone was visible.
[19] He prepared an inner sanctuary in the middle of the house within, to set the ark of Yahweh’s covenant there.
[20] Within the inner sanctuary was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in its height. He overlaid it with pure gold. He covered the altar with cedar.
[21] So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold. He drew chains of gold across before the inner sanctuary, and he overlaid it with gold.
[22] He overlaid the whole house with gold, until all the house was finished. He also overlaid the whole altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary with gold.
[23] In the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim° of olive wood, each ten cubits high.
[24] Five cubits was the length of one wing of the cherub, and five cubits was the length of the other wing of the cherub. From the tip of one wing to the tip of the other was ten cubits.
[25] The other cherub was ten cubits. Both the cherubim were of one measure and one form.
[26] One cherub was ten cubits high, and so was the other cherub.
[27] He set the cherubim within the inner house. The wings of the cherubim were stretched out, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the middle of the house.
[28] He overlaid the cherubim with gold.
[29] He carved all the walls of the house around with carved figures of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, inside and outside.
[30] He overlaid the floor of the house with gold, inside and outside.
[31] For the entrance of the inner sanctuary, he made doors of olive wood. The lintel and door posts were a fifth part of the wall.
[32] So he made two doors of olive wood; and he carved on them carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold. He spread the gold on the cherubim and on the palm trees.
[33] He also made the entrance of the temple door posts of olive wood, out of a fourth part of the wall,
[34] and two doors of cypress wood. The two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.
[35] He carved cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted on the engraved work.
[36] He built the inner court with three courses of cut stone and a course of cedar beams.
[37] The foundation of Yahweh’s house was laid in the fourth year, in the month Ziv.
[38] In the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished throughout all its parts and according to all its specifications. So he spent seven years building it.
1 Kings 6:2 A cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters.
1 Kings 6:23 “Cherubim” is plural of “cherub”, an angelic being.

1 Kings 6 (KJVS)
[1] And it came to pass in the four H702 hundred H3967 H8141 and eightieth H8084 year H8141 after the children H1121 of Israel H3478 were come out H3318 (8800) of the land H776 of Egypt H4714, in the fourth H7243 year H8141 of Solomon’s H8010 reign H4427 (8800) over Israel H3478, in the month H2320 Zif H2099, which [is] the second H8145 month H2320, that he began to build H1129 (8799) the house H1004 of the LORD H3068.
[2] And the house H1004 which king H4428 Solomon H8010 built H1129 (8804) for the LORD H3068, the length H753 thereof [was] threescore H8346 cubits H520, and the breadth H7341 thereof twenty H6242 [cubits], and the height H6967 thereof thirty H7970 cubits H520.
[3] And the porch H197 before H6440 the temple H1964 of the house H1004, twenty H6242 cubits H520 [was] the length H753 thereof, according to the breadth H7341 of the house H1004; [and] ten H6235 cubits H520 [was] the breadth H7341 thereof before the house H1004.
[4] And for the house H1004 he made H6213 (8799) windows H2474 of narrow H331 (8801) lights H8261.
[5] And against the wall H7023 of the house H1004 he built H1129 (8799) chambers H3326 (8675) H3326 round about H5439, [against] the walls H7023 of the house H1004 round about H5439, [both] of the temple H1964 and of the oracle H1687: and he made H6213 (8799) chambers H6763 round about H5439:
[6] The nethermost H8481 chamber H3326 (8675) H3326 [was] five H2568 cubits H520 broad H7341, and the middle H8484 [was] six H8337 cubits H520 broad H7341, and the third H7992 [was] seven H7651 cubits H520 broad H7341: for without [in the wall] of H2351 the house H1004 he made H5414 (8804) narrowed rests H4052 round about H5439, that [the beams] should not be fastened H270 (8800) in the walls H7023 of the house H1004.
[7] And the house H1004, when it was in building H1129 (8736), was built H1129 (8738) of stone H68 made ready H8003 before it was brought H4551 thither: so that there was neither hammer H4717 nor axe H1631 [nor] any tool H3627 of iron H1270 heard H8085 (8738) in the house H1004, while it was in building H1129 (8736).
[8] The door H6607 for the middle H8484 chamber H6763 [was] in the right H3233 side H3802 of the house H1004: and they went up H5927 (8799) with winding stairs H3883 into the middle H8484 [chamber], and out of the middle H8484 into the third H7992.
[9] So he built H1129 (8799) the house H1004, and finished H3615 (8762) it; and covered H5603 (8799) the house H1004 with beams H1356 and boards H7713 of cedar H730.
[10] And [then] he built H1129 (8799) chambers H3326 (8675) H3326 against all the house H1004, five H2568 cubits H520 high H6967: and they rested H270 (8799) on the house H1004 [with] timber H6086 of cedar H730.
[11] And the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 came to Solomon H8010, saying H559 (8800),
[12] [Concerning] this house H1004 which thou art in building H1129 (8802), if thou wilt walk H3212 (8799) in my statutes H2708, and execute H6213 (8799) my judgments H4941, and keep H8104 (8804) all my commandments H4687 to walk H3212 (8800) in them; then will I perform H6965 (8689) my word H1697 with thee, which I spake H1696 (8765) unto David H1732 thy father H1:
[13] And I will dwell H7931 (8804) among H8432 the children H1121 of Israel H3478, and will not forsake H5800 (8799) my people H5971 Israel H3478.
[14] So Solomon H8010 built H1129 (8799) the house H1004, and finished H3615 (8762) it.
[15] And he built H1129 (8799) the walls H7023 of the house H1004 within H1004 with boards H6763 of cedar H730, both the floor H7172 of the house H1004, and the walls H7023 of the cieling H5604: [and] he covered H6823 (8765) [them] on the inside H1004 with wood H6086, and covered H6823 (8762) the floor H7172 of the house H1004 with planks H6763 of fir H1265.
[16] And he built H1129 (8799) twenty H6242 cubits H520 on the sides H3411 of the house H1004, both H4480 the floor H7172 and the walls H7023 with boards H6763 of cedar H730: he even built H1129 (8799) [them] for it within H1004, [even] for the oracle H1687, [even] for the most H6944 holy H6944 [place].
[17] And the house H1004, that [is], the temple H1964 before H3942 it, was forty H705 cubits H520 [long].
[18] And the cedar H730 of the house H1004 within H6441 [was] carved H4734 with knops H6497 and open H6362 (8803) flowers H6731: all [was] cedar H730; there was no stone H68 seen H7200 (8738).
[19] And the oracle H1687 he prepared H3559 (8689) in H8432 the house H1004 within H6441, to set H5414 (8800) there the ark H727 of the covenant H1285 of the LORD H3068.
[20] And the oracle H1687 in the forepart H6440 [was] twenty H6242 cubits H520 in length H753, and twenty H6242 cubits H520 in breadth H7341, and twenty H6242 cubits H520 in the height H6967 thereof: and he overlaid H6823 (8762) it with pure H5462 (8803) gold H2091; and [so] covered H6823 (8762) the altar H4196 [which was of] cedar H730.
[21] So Solomon H8010 overlaid H6823 (8762) the house H1004 within H6441 with pure H5462 (8803) gold H2091: and he made a partition H5674 (8762) by the chains H7572 (8675) H7572 of gold H2091 before H6440 the oracle H1687; and he overlaid H6823 (8762) it with gold H2091.
[22] And the whole house H1004 he overlaid H6823 (8765) with gold H2091, until he had finished H8552 (8800) all the house H1004: also the whole altar H4196 that [was] by the oracle H1687 he overlaid H6823 (8765) with gold H2091.
[23] And within the oracle H1687 he made H6213 (8799) two H8147 cherubims H3742 [of] olive H8081 tree H6086, [each] ten H6235 cubits H520 high H6967.
[24] And five H2568 cubits H520 [was] the one H259 wing H3671 of the cherub H3742, and five H2568 cubits H520 the other H8145 wing H3671 of the cherub H3742: from the uttermost part H7098 of the one wing H3671 unto the uttermost part H7098 of the other H3671 [were] ten H6235 cubits H520.
[25] And the other H8145 cherub H3742 [was] ten H6235 cubits H520: both H8147 the cherubims H3742 [were] of one H259 measure H4060 and one H259 size H7095.
[26] The height H6967 of the one H259 cherub H3742 [was] ten H6235 cubits H520, and so [was it] of the other H8145 cherub H3742.
[27] And he set H5414 (8799) the cherubims H3742 within H8432 the inner H6442 house H1004: and they stretched forth H6566 (8799) the wings H3671 of the cherubims H3742, so that the wing H3671 of the one H259 touched H5060 (8799) the [one] wall H7023, and the wing H3671 of the other H8145 cherub H3742 touched H5060 (8802) the other H8145 wall H7023; and their wings H3671 touched H5060 (8802) one H3671 another H3671 in the midst H8432 of the house H1004.
[28] And he overlaid H6823 (8762) the cherubims H3742 with gold H2091.
[29] And he carved H7049 (8804) all the walls H7023 of the house H1004 round about H4524 with carved H6603 figures H4734 of cherubims H3742 and palm trees H8561 and open H6362 (8803) flowers H6731, within H6441 and without H2435.
[30] And the floor H7172 of the house H1004 he overlaid H6823 (8765) with gold H2091, within H6441 and without H2435.
[31] And for the entering H6607 of the oracle H1687 he made H6213 (8804) doors H1817 [of] olive H8081 tree H6086: the lintel H352 [and] side posts H4201 [were] a fifth part H2549 [of the wall].
[32] The two H8147 doors H1817 also [were of] olive H8081 tree H6086; and he carved H7049 (8804) upon them carvings H4734 of cherubims H3742 and palm trees H8561 and open H6362 (8803) flowers H6731, and overlaid H6823 (8765) [them] with gold H2091, and spread H7286 (8686) gold H2091 upon the cherubims H3742, and upon the palm trees H8561.
[33] So also made H6213 (8804) he for the door H6607 of the temple H1964 posts H4201 [of] olive H8081 tree H6086, a fourth part H7243 [of the wall].
[34] And the two H8147 doors H1817 [were of] fir H1265 tree H6086: the two H8147 leaves H6763 of the one H259 door H1817 [were] folding H1550, and the two H8147 leaves H7050 of the other H8145 door H1817 [were] folding H1550.
[35] And he carved H7049 (8804) [thereon] cherubims H3742 and palm trees H8561 and open H6362 (8803) flowers H6731: and covered H6823 (8765) [them] with gold H2091 fitted H3474 (8794) upon the carved work H2707 (8794).
[36] And he built H1129 (8799) the inner H6442 court H2691 with three H7969 rows H2905 of hewed stone H1496, and a row H2905 of cedar H730 beams H3773.
[37] In the fourth H7243 year H8141 was the foundation H3245 of the house H1004 of the LORD H3068 laid H3245 (8795), in the month H3391 Zif H2099:
[38] And in the eleventh H259 H6240 year H8141, in the month H3391 Bul H945, which [is] the eighth H8066 month H2320, was the house H1004 finished H3615 (8804) throughout all the parts H1697 thereof, and according to all the fashion H4941 of it. So was he seven H7651 years H8141 in building H1129 (8799) it.
Young’s Literal Translation
1 Kings 6 (YLT)
[1] And it cometh to pass, in the four hundred and eightieth year of the going out of the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt, in the fourth year-in the month of Zif, it is the second month-of the reigning of Solomon over Israel, that he buildeth the house for Jehovah.
[2] As to the house that king Solomon hath built for Jehovah, sixty cubits is its length, and twenty its breadth, and thirty cubits its height.
[3] As to the porch on the front of the temple of the house, twenty cubits is its length on the front of the breadth of the house; ten by the cubit is its breadth on the front of the house;
[4] and he maketh for the house windows of narrow lights.
[5] And he buildeth against the wall of the house a couch round about, even the walls of the house round about, of the temple and of the oracle, and maketh sides round about.
[6] The lowest couch, five by the cubit is its breadth; and the middle, six by the cubit is its breadth; and the third, seven by the cubit is its breadth, for withdrawings he hath put to the house round about, without-not to lay hold on the walls of the house.
[7] And the house, in its being built, of perfect stone brought thither hath been built, and hammer, and the axe-any instrument of iron-was not heard in the house, in its being built.
[8] The opening of the middle side is at the right shoulder of the house, and with windings they go up on the middle one, and from the middle one unto the third.
[9] And he buildeth the house, and completeth it, and covereth the house with beams and rows of cedars.
[10] And he buildeth the couch against all the house, five cubits is its height, and it taketh hold of the house by cedar-wood.
[11] And the word of Jehovah is unto Solomon, saying,
[12] ‘This house that thou art building-if thou dost walk in My statutes, and My judgments dost do, yea, hast done all My commands, to walk in them, then I have established My word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father,
[13] and have tabernacled in the midst of the sons of Israel, and do not forsake My people Israel.’
[14] And Solomon buildeth the house and completeth it;
[15] and he buildeth the walls of the house within with beams of cedar, from the floor of the house unto the walls of the ceiling; he hath overlaid with wood the inside, and covereth the floor of the house with ribs of fir.
[16] And he buildeth the twenty cubits on the sides of the house with ribs of cedar, from the floor unto the walls; and he buildeth for it within, for the oracle, for the holy of holies.
[17] And forty by the cubit was the house, it is the temple before it.
[18] And the cedar for the house within is carvings of knobs and openings of flowers; the whole is cedar, there is not a stone seen.
[19] And the oracle in the midst of the house within he hath prepared, to put there the ark of the covenant of Jehovah.
[20] And before the oracle is twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits is its height; and he overlayeth it with gold refined, and overlayeth the altar with cedar.
[21] And Solomon overlayeth the house within with gold refined, and causeth it to pass over in chains of gold before the oracle, and overlayeth it with gold.
[22] And the whole of the house he hath overlaid with gold, till the completion of all the house; and the whole of the altar that the oracle hath, he hath overlaid with gold.
[23] And he maketh within the oracle two cherubs, of the oil-tree, ten cubits is their height;
[24] and five cubits is the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the second wing of the cherub, ten cubits from the ends of its wings even unto the ends of its wings;
[25] and ten by the cubit is the second cherub, one measure and one form are to the two cherubs,
[26] the height of the one cherub is ten by the cubit, and so is the second cherub;
[27] and he setteth the cherubs in the midst of the inner house, and they spread out the wings of the cherubs, and a wing of the one cometh against the wall, and a wing of the second cherub is coming against the second wall, and their wings are unto the midst of the house, coming wing against wing;
[28] and he overlayeth the cherubs with gold,
[29] and all the walls of the house round about he hath carved with openings of carvings, cherubs, and palm trees, and openings of flowers, within and without.
[30] And the floor of the house he hath overlaid with gold, within and without;
[31] as to the opening of the oracle, he made doors of the oil-tree; the lintel, side-posts, a fifth.
[32] And the two doors are of the oil-tree, and he hath carved upon them carvings of cherubs, and palm-trees, and openings of flowers, and overlaid with gold, and he causeth the gold to go down on the cherubs and on the palm-trees.
[33] And so he hath made for the opening of the temple, side-posts of the oil-tree, from the fourth.
[34] And the two doors are of fir-tree, the two sides of the one door are revolving, and the two hangings of the second door are revolving.
[35] And he hath carved cherubs, and palms, and openings of flowers, and overlaid with straightened gold the graved work.
[36] And he buildeth the inner court, three rows of hewn work, and a row of beams of cedar.
[37] In the fourth year hath the house of Jehovah been founded, in the month Zif,
[38] and in the eleventh year, in the month Bul-that is the eighth month-hath the house been finished in all its matters, and in all its ordinances, and he buildeth it seven years.
