1 Kings 16 (WEBP)

[1] Yahweh’s word came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,
[2] “Because I exalted you out of the dust and made you prince over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins,
[3] behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
[4] The dogs will eat Baasha’s descendants who die in the city; and he who dies of his in the field, the birds of the sky will eat.”
[5] Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
[6] Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah; and Elah his son reigned in his place.
[7] Moreover Yahweh’s word came by the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha and against his house, both because of all the evil that he did in Yahweh’s sight, to provoke him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam, and because he struck him.
[8] In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah the son of Baasha began to reign over Israel in Tirzah for two years.
[9] His servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him. Now he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah;
[10] and Zimri went in and struck him and killed him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his place.
[11] When he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, he attacked all the house of Baasha. He didn’t leave him a single one who urinates on a wall§ among his relatives or his friends.
[12] Thus Zimri destroyed all the house of Baasha, according to Yahweh’s word which he spoke against Baasha by Jehu the prophet,
[13] for all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, which they sinned and with which they made Israel to sin, to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities.
[14] Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
[15] In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri reigned seven days in Tirzah. Now the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.
[16] The people who were encamped heard that Zimri had conspired, and had also killed the king. Therefore all Israel made Omri, the captain of the army, king over Israel that day in the camp.
[17] Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah.
[18] When Zimri saw that the city was taken, he went into the fortified part of the king’s house and burned the king’s house over him with fire, and died,
[19] for his sins which he sinned in doing that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, in walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did to make Israel to sin.
[20] Now the rest of the acts of Zimri, and his treason that he committed, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
[21] Then the people of Israel were divided into two parts: half of the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king, and half followed Omri.
[22] But the people who followed Omri prevailed against the people who followed Tibni the son of Ginath; so Tibni died, and Omri reigned.
[23] In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri began to reign over Israel for twelve years. He reigned six years in Tirzah.
[24] He bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents° of silver; and he built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, Samaria, after the name of Shemer, the owner of the hill.
[25] Omri did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and dealt wickedly above all who were before him.
[26] For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sins with which he made Israel to sin, to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities.
[27] Now the rest of the acts of Omri which he did, and his might that he showed, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
[28] So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria; and Ahab his son reigned in his place.
[29] In the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, Ahab the son of Omri began to reign over Israel. Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years.
[30] Ahab the son of Omri did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight above all that were before him.
[31] As if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, he took as wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal and worshiped him.
[32] He raised up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.
[33] Ahab made the Asherah; and Ahab did more yet to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him.
[34] In his days Hiel the Bethelite built Jericho. He laid its foundation with the loss of Abiram his firstborn, and set up its gates with the loss of his youngest son Segub, according to Yahweh’s word, which he spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.

1 Kings 16 (KJVS)

[1] Then the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 came to Jehu H3058 the son H1121 of Hanani H2607 against Baasha H1201, saying H559 (8800),
[2] Forasmuch as I exalted H7311 (8689) thee out of the dust H6083, and made H5414 (8799) thee prince H5057 over my people H5971 Israel H3478; and thou hast walked H3212 (8799) in the way H1870 of Jeroboam H3379, and hast made my people H5971 Israel H3478 to sin H2398 (8686), to provoke me to anger H3707 (8687) with their sins H2403;
[3] Behold, I will take away H1197 (8686) the posterity H310 of Baasha H1201, and the posterity H310 of his house H1004; and will make H5414 (8804) thy house H1004 like the house H1004 of Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat H5028.
[4] Him that dieth H4191 (8801) of Baasha H1201 in the city H5892 shall the dogs H3611 eat H398 (8799); and him that dieth H4191 (8801) of his in the fields H7704 shall the fowls H5775 of the air H8064 eat H398 (8799).
[5] Now the rest H3499 of the acts H1697 of Baasha H1201, and what he did H6213 (8804), and his might H1369, [are] they not written H3789 (8803) in the book H5612 of the chronicles H1697 H3117 of the kings H4428 of Israel H3478?
[6] So Baasha H1201 slept H7901 (8799) with his fathers H1, and was buried H6912 (8735) in Tirzah H8656: and Elah H425 his son H1121 reigned H4427 (8799) in his stead.
[7] And also by the hand H3027 of the prophet H5030 Jehu H3058 the son H1121 of Hanani H2607 came the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 against Baasha H1201, and against his house H1004, even for all the evil H7451 that he did H6213 (8804) in the sight H5869 of the LORD H3068, in provoking him to anger H3707 (8687) with the work H4639 of his hands H3027, in being like the house H1004 of Jeroboam H3379; and because he killed H5221 (8689) him.
[8] In the twenty H6242 H8141 and sixth H8337 year H8141 of Asa H609 king H4428 of Judah H3063 began Elah H425 the son H1121 of Baasha H1201 to reign H4427 (8804) over Israel H3478 in Tirzah H8656, two years H8141.
[9] And his servant H5650 Zimri H2174, captain H8269 of half H4276 [his] chariots H7393, conspired H7194 (8799) against him, as he was in Tirzah H8656, drinking H8354 (8802) himself drunk H7910 in the house H1004 of Arza H777 steward of [his] house H1004 in Tirzah H8656.
[10] And Zimri H2174 went in H935 (8799) and smote H5221 (8686) him, and killed H4191 (8686) him, in the twenty H6242 and seventh H7651 year H8141 of Asa H609 king H4428 of Judah H3063, and reigned H4427 (8799) in his stead.
[11] And it came to pass, when he began to reign H4427 (8800), as soon as he sat H3427 (8800) on his throne H3678, [that] he slew H5221 (8689) all the house H1004 of Baasha H1201: he left H7604 (8689) him not one that pisseth H8366 (8688) against a wall H7023, neither of his kinsfolks H1350 (8802), nor of his friends H7453.
[12] Thus did Zimri H2174 destroy H8045 (8686) all the house H1004 of Baasha H1201, according to the word H1697 of the LORD H3068, which he spake H1696 (8765) against Baasha H1201 by H3027 Jehu H3058 the prophet H5030,
[13] For all the sins H2403 of Baasha H1201, and the sins H2403 of Elah H425 his son H1121, by which they sinned H2398 (8804), and by which they made Israel H3478 to sin H2398 (8689), in provoking the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel H3478 to anger H3707 (8687) with their vanities H1892.
[14] Now the rest H3499 of the acts H1697 of Elah H425, and all that he did H6213 (8804), [are] they not written H3789 (8803) in the book H5612 of the chronicles H1697 H3117 of the kings H4428 of Israel H3478?
[15] In the twenty H6242 H8141 and seventh H7651 year H8141 of Asa H609 king H4428 of Judah H3063 did Zimri H2174 reign H4427 (8804) seven H7651 days H3117 in Tirzah H8656. And the people H5971 [were] encamped H2583 (8802) against Gibbethon H1405, which [belonged] to the Philistines H6430.
[16] And the people H5971 [that were] encamped H2583 (8802) heard H8085 (8799) say H559 (8800), Zimri H2174 hath conspired H7194 (8804), and hath also slain H5221 (8689) the king H4428: wherefore all Israel H3478 made Omri H6018, the captain H8269 of the host H6635, king H4427 (8686) over Israel H3478 that day H3117 in the camp H4264.
[17] And Omri H6018 went up H5927 (8799) from Gibbethon H1405, and all Israel H3478 with him, and they besieged H6696 (8799) Tirzah H8656.
[18] And it came to pass, when Zimri H2174 saw H7200 (8800) that the city H5892 was taken H3920 (8738), that he went H935 (8799) into the palace H759 of the king’s H4428 house H1004, and burnt H8313 (8799) the king’s H4428 house H1004 over him with fire H784, and died H4191 (8799),
[19] For his sins H2403 which he sinned H2398 (8804) in doing H6213 (8800) evil H7451 in the sight H5869 of the LORD H3068, in walking H3212 (8800) in the way H1870 of Jeroboam H3379, and in his sin H2403 which he did H6213 (8804), to make Israel H3478 to sin H2398 (8687).
[20] Now the rest H3499 of the acts H1697 of Zimri H2174, and his treason H7195 that he wrought H7194 (8804), [are] they not written H3789 (8803) in the book H5612 of the chronicles H1697 H3117 of the kings H4428 of Israel H3478?
[21] Then were the people H5971 of Israel H3478 divided H2505 (8735) into two parts H2677: half H2677 of the people H5971 followed H1961 (8804) H310 Tibni H8402 the son H1121 of Ginath H1527, to make him king H4427 (8687); and half H2677 followed H310 Omri H6018.
[22] But the people H5971 that followed H310 Omri H6018 prevailed H2388 (8799) against H854 the people H5971 that followed H310 Tibni H8402 the son H1121 of Ginath H1527: so Tibni H8402 died H4191 (8799), and Omri H6018 reigned H4427 (8799).
[23] In the thirty H7970 H8141 and first H259 year H8141 of Asa H609 king H4428 of Judah H3063 began Omri H6018 to reign H4427 (8804) over Israel H3478, twelve H8147 H6240 years H8141: six H8337 years H8141 reigned H4427 (8804) he in Tirzah H8656.
[24] And he bought H7069 (8799) the hill H2022 Samaria H8111 of Shemer H8106 for two talents H3603 of silver H3701, and built H1129 (8799) on the hill H2022, and called H7121 (8799) the name H8034 of the city H5892 which he built H1129 (8804), after the name H8034 of Shemer H8106, owner H113 of the hill H2022, Samaria H8111.
[25] But Omri H6018 wrought H6213 (8799) evil H7451 in the eyes H5869 of the LORD H3068, and did worse H7489 (8686) than all that [were] before H6440 him.
[26] For he walked H3212 (8799) in all the way H1870 of Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat H5028, and in his sin H2403 wherewith he made Israel H3478 to sin H2398 (8689), to provoke the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel H3478 to anger H3707 (8687) with their vanities H1892.
[27] Now the rest H3499 of the acts H1697 of Omri H6018 which he did H6213 (8804), and his might H1369 that he shewed H6213 (8804), [are] they not written H3789 (8803) in the book H5612 of the chronicles H1697 H3117 of the kings H4428 of Israel H3478?
[28] So Omri H6018 slept H7901 (8799) with his fathers H1, and was buried H6912 (8735) in Samaria H8111: and Ahab H256 his son H1121 reigned H4427 (8799) in his stead.
[29] And in the thirty H7970 H8141 and eighth H8083 year H8141 of Asa H609 king H4428 of Judah H3063 began Ahab H256 the son H1121 of Omri H6018 to reign H4427 (8804) over Israel H3478: and Ahab H256 the son H1121 of Omri H6018 reigned H4427 (8799) over Israel H3478 in Samaria H8111 twenty H6242 and two H8147 years H8141.
[30] And Ahab H256 the son H1121 of Omri H6018 did H6213 (8799) evil H7451 in the sight H5869 of the LORD H3068 above all that [were] before H6440 him.
[31] And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing H7043 (8738) for him to walk H3212 (8800) in the sins H2403 of Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat H5028, that he took H3947 (8799) to wife H802 Jezebel H348 the daughter H1323 of Ethbaal H856 king H4428 of the Zidonians H6722, and went H3212 (8799) and served H5647 (8799) Baal H1168, and worshipped H7812 (8691) him.
[32] And he reared up H6965 (8686) an altar H4196 for Baal H1168 in the house H1004 of Baal H1168, which he had built H1129 (8804) in Samaria H8111.
[33] And Ahab H256 made H6213 (8799) a grove H842; and Ahab H256 did H6213 (8800) more H3254 (8686) to provoke the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel H3478 to anger H3707 (8687) than all the kings H4428 of Israel H3478 that were before H6440 him.
[34] In his days H3117 did Hiel H2419 the Bethelite H1017 build H1129 (8804) Jericho H3405: he laid the foundation H3245 (8765) thereof in Abiram H48 his firstborn H1060, and set up H5324 (8689) the gates H1817 thereof in his youngest H6810 [son] Segub H7687, according to the word H1697 of the LORD H3068, which he spake H1696 (8765) by H3027 Joshua H3091 the son H1121 of Nun H5126.

Young’s Literal Translation

1 Kings 16 (YLT)

[1] And a word of Jehovah is unto Jehu son of Hanani, against Baasha, saying,
[2] ‘Because that I have raised thee up out of the dust, and appoint thee leader over My people Israel, and thou walkest in the way of Jeroboam, and causest My people Israel to sin-to provoke Me to anger with their sins;
[3] lo, I am putting away the posterity of Baasha, even the posterity of his house, and have given up thy house as the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat;
[4] him who dieth of Baasha in a city do the dogs eat, and him who dieth of his in a field do fowl of the heavens eat.’
[5] And the rest of the matters of Baasha, and that which he did, and his might, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
[6] And Baasha lieth with his fathers, and is buried in Tirzah, and Elah his son reigneth in his stead.
[7] And also by the hand of Jehu son of Hanani the prophet a word of Jehovah hath been concerning Baasha, and concerning his house, and concerning all the evil that he did in the eyes of Jehovah to provoke Him to anger with the work of his hands, to be like the house of Jeroboam, and concerning that for which he smote him.
[8] In the twenty and sixth year of Asa king of Judah reigned hath Elah son of Baasha over Israel in Tirzah, two years;
[9] and conspire against him doth his servant Zimri (head of the half of the chariots) and he is in Tirzah drinking-a drunkard in the house of Arza, who is over the house in Tirzah.
[10] And Zimri cometh in and smiteth him, and putteth him to death, in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigneth in his stead;
[11] and it cometh to pass in his reigning, at his sitting on his throne, he hath smitten the whole house of Baasha; he hath not left to him any sitting on the wall, and of his redeemers, and of his friends.
[12] And Zimri destroyeth the whole house of Baasha, according to the word of Jehovah, that He spake concerning Baasha, by the hand of Jehu the prophet:
[13] concerning all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, that they sinned, and that they caused Israel to sin to provoke Jehovah, God of Israel, with their vanities.
[14] And the rest of the matters of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
[15] In the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, reigned hath Zimri seven days in Tirzah; and the people are encamping against Gibbethon, which is to the Philistines;
[16] and the people who are encamping hear, saying, ‘Zimri hath conspired, and also hath smitten the king;’ and all Israel cause Omri head of the host to reign over Israel on that day in the camp.
[17] And Omri goeth up, and all Israel with him, from Gibbethon, and they lay siege to Tirzah.
[18] And it cometh to pass, at Zimri’s seeing that the city hath been captured, that he cometh in unto a high place of the house of the king, and burneth over him the house of the king with fire, and dieth,
[19] for his sins that he sinned, to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, to walk in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin that he did, to cause Israel to sin;
[20] and the rest of the matters of Zimri, and his conspiracy that he made, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
[21] Then are the sons of Israel parted into halves; half of the people hath been after Tibni son of Ginath to cause him to reign, and the half after Omri;
[22] and stronger are the people that are after Omri than the people that are after Tibni son of Ginath, and Tibni dieth, and Omri reigneth.
[23] In the thirty and first year of Asa king of Judah reigned hath Omri over Israel twelve years; in Tirzah he hath reigned six years,
[24] and he buyeth the mount Samaria from Shemer, with two talents of silver, and buildeth on the mount, and calleth the name of the city that he hath built by the name of Shemer, lord of the hill-Samaria.
[25] And Omri doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and doth evil above all who are before him,
[26] and walketh in all the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and in his sin that he caused Israel to sin, to provoke Jehovah, God of Israel, with their vanities.
[27] And the rest of the matters of Omri that he did, and his might that he got, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
[28] And Omri lieth with his fathers, and is buried in Samaria, and Ahab his son reigneth in his stead.
[29] And Ahab son of Omri hath reigned over Israel in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah, and Ahab son of Omri reigneth over Israel in Samaria twenty and two years,
[30] and Ahab son of Omri doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah above all who are before him.
[31] And it cometh to pass-hath it been light his walking in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat?-then he taketh a wife, Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Zidonians, and goeth and serveth Baal, and boweth himself to it,
[32] and raiseth up an altar for Baal, in the house of the Baal, that he built in Samaria;
[33] and Ahab maketh the shrine, and Ahab addeth to do so as to provoke Jehovah, God of Israel, above all the kings of Israel who have been before him.
[34] In his days hath Hiel the Beth-Elite built Jericho; in Abiram his first-born he laid its foundation, and in Segub his youngest he set up its doors, according to the word of Jehovah that He spake by the hand of Joshua son of Nun.
