επιστραφητε δη θυγατερες μου διοτι γεγηρακα του μη ειναι ανδρι οτι ειπα οτι εστιν μοι υποστασις του γενηθηναι με ανδρι και τεξομαι υιους

She said, “Behold,^§ your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her god. Follow your sister-in-law.”

Ruth 1:15 “Behold”, from “הִנֵּה”, means look at, take notice, observe, see, or gaze at. It is often used as an interjection.

She said to them, “Don’t call me Naomi.° Call me Mara,° for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.

Ruth 1:20a “Naomi” means “pleasant”.
Ruth 1:20b “Mara” means “bitter”.

Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, “Let me now go to the field, and glean among the ears of grain after him in whose sight I find favor.” She said to her, “Go, my daughter.”

Behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers, “May Yahweh be with you.” They answered him, “May Yahweh bless you.”

Then Boaz said to his servant who was set over the reapers, “Whose young lady is this?”

Then Boaz said to Ruth, “Listen, my daughter. Don’t go to glean in another field, and don’t go from here, but stay here close to my maidens.

Then she fell on her face and bowed herself to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favor in your sight, that you should take knowledge of me, since I am a foreigner?”

και απεκριθη βοος και ειπεν αυτη απαγγελια απηγγελη μοι οσα πεποιηκας μετα της πενθερας σου μετα το αποθανειν τον ανδρα σου και πως κατελιπες τον πατερα σου και την μητερα σου και την γην γενεσεως σου και επορευθης προς λαον ον ουκ ηδεις εχθες και τριτης

Then she said, “Let me find favor in your sight, my lord, because you have comforted me, and because you have spoken kindly to your servant, though I am not as one of your servants.”

At meal time Boaz said to her, “Come here, and eat some bread, and dip your morsel in the vinegar.” She sat beside the reapers, and they passed her parched grain. She ate, was satisfied, and left some of it.

When she had risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, “Let her glean even among the sheaves, and don’t reproach her.

Ruth 2:15 Heb. shame her not

Her mother-in-law said to her, “Where have you gleaned today? Where have you worked? Blessed be he who noticed you.” She told her mother-in-law with whom she had worked, “The man’s name with whom I worked today is Boaz.”

Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, “May he be blessed by Yahweh, who has not abandoned his kindness to the living and to the dead.” Naomi said to her, “The man is a close relative to us, one of our near kinsmen.”

And Naomi H5281 said H559 (QalImpf) unto her daughter in law, H3618 Blessed H1288 (QalPasPtc) be he of the Lord, H3068 who hath not left off H5800 (QalPerf) his kindness H2617 to the living H2416 and to the dead. Ruth 2:20 Or, one that hath right to redeem

Ruth the Moabitess said, “Yes, he said to me, ‘You shall stay close to my young men until they have finished all my harvest.’ ”

Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, “It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his maidens, and that they not meet you in any other field.”

Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, “My daughter, shall I not seek rest for you, that it may be well with you?

She said to her, “All that you say, I will do.”

He said, “Who are you?” She answered, “I am Ruth your servant. Therefore spread the corner of your garment over your servant; for you are a near kinsman.”

Ruth 3:9 Or, one that hath right to redeem

ειπεν δε τις ει συ η δε ειπεν εγω ειμι ρουθ η δουλη σου και περιβαλεις το πτερυγιον σου επι την δουλην σου οτι αγχιστευς ει συ

He said, “You are blessed by Yahweh, my daughter. You have shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, because you didn’t follow young men, whether poor or rich.

Now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do to you all that you say; for all the city of my people knows that you are a worthy woman.

Boaz took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, “Sit down here,” and they sat down.

I thought I should tell you, saying, ‘Buy it before those who sit here, and before the elders of my people.’ If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if you will not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know. For there is no one to redeem it besides you; and I am after you.” He said, “I will redeem it.”

Ruth 4:4 Heb. I said, I will reveal in thine ear

καγω ειπα αποκαλυψω το ους σου λεγων κτησαι εναντιον των καθημενων και εναντιον των πρεσβυτερων του λαου μου ει αγχιστευεις αγχιστευε ει δε μη αγχιστευεις αναγγειλον μοι και γνωσομαι οτι ουκ εστιν παρεξ σου του αγχιστευσαι καγω ειμι μετα σε ο δε ειπεν εγω ειμι αγχιστευσω

Then Boaz said, “On the day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you must buy it also from Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance.”

και ειπεν βοος εν ημερα του κτησασθαι σε τον αγρον εκ χειρος νωεμιν και παρα ρουθ της μωαβιτιδος γυναικος του τεθνηκοτος και αυτην κτησασθαι σε δει ωστε αναστησαι το ονομα του τεθνηκοτος επι της κληρονομιας αυτου

The near kinsman said, “I can’t redeem it for myself, lest I endanger my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption for yourself; for I can’t redeem it.”

And the kinsman H1350 (QalActPtc) said, H559 (QalImpf) I cannot H3201 (QalImpf) redeem H1350 (QalInf) it for myself, lest I mar H7843 (HiphImpf) mine own inheritance: H5159 redeem H1350 (QalImpv) thou my right H1353 to thyself; for I cannot H3201 (QalImpf) redeem H1350 (QalInf) it.

και ειπεν ο αγχιστευς ου δυνησομαι αγχιστευσαι εμαυτω μηποτε διαφθειρω την κληρονομιαν μου αγχιστευσον σεαυτω την αγχιστειαν μου οτι ου δυνησομαι αγχιστευσαι

So the near kinsman said to Boaz, “Buy it for yourself,” then he took off his sandal.

Therefore the kinsman H1350 (QalActPtc) said H559 (QalImpf) unto Boaz, H1162 Buy H7069 (QalImpv) it for thee. So he drew off H8025 (QalImpf) his shoe. H5275

και ειπεν ο αγχιστευς τω βοος κτησαι σεαυτω την αγχιστειαν μου και υπελυσατο το υποδημα αυτου και εδωκεν αυτω
