The king vowed and said, “As Yahweh lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

And the king sweareth and saith, ‘Jehovah liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity;

Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they had finished eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, “Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?”

And Adonijah H138 and all the guests H7121 (QalPasPtc) that [were] with him heard H8085 (QalImpf) [it] as they had made an end H3615 (PielPerf) of eating. And Adonijah heareth, and all those called, who are with him, and they have finished to eat, and Joab heareth the noise of the trumpet, and saith, ‘Wherefore is the noise of the city roaring?’

Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon. They have come up from there rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that you have heard.

And Zadok H6659 the priest H3548 and Nathan H5416 the prophet H5030 have anointed H4886 (QalImpf) him king H4428 in Gihon: H1521 and they are come up H5927 (QalImpf) from thence rejoicing, H8056 so that the city H7151 rang again. and they anoint him-Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet-for king in Gihon, and are come up thence rejoicing, and the city is moved; it is the noise that ye have heard.

Also thus said the king, ‘Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne today, my eyes even seeing it.’ ”

and also thus hath the king said, Blessed is Jehovah, God of Israel, who hath given to-day one sitting on my throne, and mine eyes seeing.’

and keep the instruction of Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and his testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn yourself.

and kept the charge of Jehovah thy God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commands, and His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, so that thou dost wisely all that thou dost, and whithersoever thou turnest,

Then Yahweh may establish his word which he spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your children are careful of their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail you,’ he said, ‘a man on the throne of Israel.’

so that Jehovah doth establish His word which He spake unto me, saying, If thy sons observe their way to walk before Me in truth, with all their heart, and with all their soul; saying, There is not cut off a man of thine from the throne of Israel.

“Moreover you know also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, even what he did to the two captains of the armies of Israel, to Abner the son of Ner and to Amasa the son of Jether, whom he killed, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war on his sash that was around his waist and in his sandals that were on his feet.

Moreover thou knowest H3045 (QalPerf) also what Joab H3097 the son H1121 of Zeruiah H6870 did H6213 (QalPerf) to me, [and] what he did H6213 (QalPerf) to the two H8147 captains H8269 of the hosts H6635 of Israel, H3478 unto Abner H74 the son H1121 of Ner, H5369 and unto Amasa H6021 the son H1121 of Jether, H3500 whom he slew, H2026 (QalImpf) and shed H7760 (QalImpf) the blood H1818 of war H4421 in peace, H7965 and put H5414 (QalImpf) the blood H1818 of war H4421 upon his girdle H2290 that [was] about his loins, H4975 and in his shoes H5275 that [were] on his feet. ‘And also, thou hast known that which he did to me-Joab son of Zeruiah-that which he did to two heads of the hosts of Israel, to Abner son of Ner, and to Amasa son of Jether-that he slayeth them, and maketh the blood of war in peace, and putteth the blood of war in his girdle, that is on his loins, and in his sandals that are on his feet;

Now therefore don’t hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man; and you will know what you ought to do to him, and you shall bring his gray head down to Sheol° with blood.”

Now therefore as Yahweh lives, who has established me and set me on my father David’s throne, and who has made me a house as he promised, surely Adonijah shall be put to death today.”

Now therefore, [as] the Lord H3068 liveth, H2416 which hath established H3559 (HiphPerf) me, and set H3427 (HiphImpf) me on the throne H3678 of David H1732 my father, H1 and who hath made H6213 (QalPerf) me an house, H1004 as he promised, H1696 (PielPerf) Adonijah H138 shall be put to death H4191 (HophImpf) this day. and now, Jehovah liveth, who hath established me, and causeth me to sit on the throne of David my father, and who hath made for me an house as He spake-surely to-day is Adonijah put to death.’

To Abiathar the priest the king said, “Go to Anathoth, to your own fields, for you are worthy of death. But I will not at this time put you to death, because you bore the Lord^§ Yahweh’s ark before David my father, and because you were afflicted in all in which my father was afflicted.”

And to Abiathar the priest said the king, ‘To Anathoth go, unto thy fields; for a man of death thou art, but in this day I do not put thee to death, because thou hast borne the ark of the Lord Jehovah before David my father, and because thou wast afflicted in all that my father was afflicted in.’

So Solomon thrust Abiathar out from being priest to Yahweh, that he might fulfill Yahweh’s word which he spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

So Solomon H8010 thrust out H1644 (PielImpf) Abiathar H54 from being priest H3548 unto the Lord; H3068 that he might fulfil H4390 (PielInf) the word H1697 of the Lord, H3068 which he spake H1696 (PielPerf) concerning the house H1004 of Eli H5941 in Shiloh. H7887

And Solomon casteth out Abiathar from being priest to Jehovah, to fulfil the word of Jehovah which He spake concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

The king said to him, “Do as he has said, and fall on him, and bury him, that you may take away the blood, which Joab shed without cause, from me and from my father’s house.

And the king H4428 said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Do H6213 (QalImpv) as he hath said, H1696 (PielPerf) and fall H6293 (QalImpv) upon him, and bury H6912 (QalPerf) him; that thou mayest take away H5493 (HiphPerf) the innocent H2600 blood, H1818 which Joab H3097 shed, H8210 (QalPerf) from me, and from the house H1004 of my father. And the king saith to him, ‘Do as he hath spoken, and fall upon him, and thou hast buried him, and turned aside the causeless blood which Joab shed, from off me, and from off the house of my father;

Yahweh will return his blood on his own head, because he fell on two men more righteous and better than he, and killed them with the sword, and my father David didn’t know it: Abner the son of Ner, captain of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the army of Judah.

and Jehovah hath turned back his blood on his own head, who hath fallen on two men more righteous and better than he, and slayeth them with the sword,-and my father David knew not-Abner son of Ner, head of the host of Israel, and Amasa son of Jether, head of the host of Judah;

Why then have you not kept the oath of Yahweh and the commandment that I have instructed you with?”

Why then hast thou not kept H8104 (QalPerf) the oath H7621 of the Lord, H3068 and the commandment H4687 that I have charged H6680 (PielPerf) thee with?

and wherefore hast thou not kept the oath of Jehovah, and the charge that I charged upon thee?’

The king said moreover to Shimei, “You know in your heart all the wickedness that you did to David my father. Therefore Yahweh will return your wickedness on your own head.

The king H4428 said H559 (QalImpf) moreover to Shimei, H8096 Thou knowest H3045 (QalPerf) all the wickedness H7451 which thine heart H3824 is privy to, H3045 (QalPerf) that thou didst H6213 (QalPerf) to David H1732 my father: H1 therefore the Lord H3068 shall return H7725 (HiphPerf) thy wickedness H7451 upon thine own head; H7218

And the king saith unto Shimei, ‘Thou hast known all the evil that thy heart hath known, which thou didst to David my father, and Jehovah hath turned back thine evil on thy head,

Your servant is among your people which you have chosen, a great people, that can’t be numbered or counted for multitude.

and Thy servant is in the midst of thy people, whom Thou hast chosen, a people numerous, that is not numbered nor counted for multitude,

God said to him, “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life, nor have you asked for riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice,

and God saith unto him, ‘Because that thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thee many days, nor asked for thee riches, nor asked the life of thine enemies, and hast asked for thee discernment to understand judgment,

behold, I have done according to your word. Behold, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has been no one like you before you, and after you none will arise like you.

Behold, I have done H6213 (QalPerf) according to thy words: H1697 lo, I have given H5414 (QalPerf) thee a wise H2450 and an understanding H995 (NiphPtc) heart; H3820 so that there was none like thee before H6440 thee, neither after H310 thee shall any arise H6965 (QalImpf) like unto thee.

lo, I have done according to thy words; lo, I have given to thee a heart, wise and understanding, that like thee there hath not been before thee, and after thee there doth not arise like thee;

I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kings like you for all your days.

And I have also given H5414 (QalPerf) thee that which thou hast not asked, H7592 (QalPerf) both riches, H6239 and honour: H3519 so that there shall not be any H376 among the kings H4428 like unto thee all thy days. H3117

and also, that which thou hast not asked I have given to thee, both riches and honour, that there hath not been like thee a man among the kings all thy days;

This woman’s child died in the night, because she lay on it.

And this woman’s H802 child H1121 died H4191 (QalImpf) in the night; H3915 because she overlaid H7901 (QalPerf) it.

And the son of this woman dieth at night, because she hath lain upon it,

When I rose in the morning to nurse my child, behold, he was dead; but when I had looked at him in the morning, behold, it was not my son whom I bore.”

and I rise in the morning to suckle my son, and lo, dead; and I consider concerning it in the morning, and lo, it was not my son whom I did bear.’

Then the woman whose the living child was spoke to the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, “Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and in no way kill him!” But the other said, “He shall be neither mine nor yours. Divide him.”

And the woman whose son is the living one saith unto the king (for her bowels yearned over her son), yea, she saith, ‘O, my lord, give to her the living child, and put it not at all to death;’ and this one saith, ‘Let it be neither mine or thine-cut it.’

All Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to do justice.

And all Israel hear of the judgment that the king hath judged, and fear because of the king, for they have seen that the wisdom of God is in his heart, to do judgment.

Ben Geber, in Ramoth Gilead (the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead, belonged to him; and the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, sixty great cities with walls and bronze bars, belonged to him);

Ben-Geber, in Ramoth-Gilead, hath the small towns of Jair son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; he hath a portion of Argob that is in Bashan, sixty great cities with wall and brazen bar.

Geber the son of Uri, in the land of Gilead, the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and of Og king of Bashan; and he was the only officer who was in the land.

Geber Ben-Uri is in the land of Gilead, the land of Sihon king of the Amorite, and of Og king of Bashan: and one officer who is in the land.

They also brought barley and straw for the horses and swift steeds to the place where the officers were, each man according to his duty.

And the barley and the straw, for horses and for dromedaries, they bring in unto the place where they are, each according to his ordinance.

People of all nations came to hear the wisdom of Solomon, sent by all kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom.

And there came H935 (QalImpf) of all people H5971 to hear H8085 (QalInf) the wisdom H2451 of Solomon, H8010 from all kings H4428 of the earth, H776 which had heard H8085 (QalPerf) of his wisdom. H2451

and there come out of all the peoples to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth who have heard of his wisdom.

“You know that David my father could not build a house for the name of Yahweh his God because of the wars which were around him on every side, until Yahweh put his enemies under the soles of his feet.

Thou knowest H3045 (QalPerf) how that David H1732 my father H1 could H3201 (QalPerf) not build H1129 (QalInf) an house H1004 unto the name H8034 of the Lord H3068 his God H430 for H6440 the wars H4421 which were about him on every side, H5437 (QalPerf) until the Lord H3068 put H5414 (QalInf) them under the soles H3709 of his feet. H7272

‘Thou hast known David my father, that he hath not been able to build a house to the name of Jehovah his God, because of the wars that have been round about him, till Jehovah’s putting them under the soles of his feet.

Behold, I intend to build a house for the name of Yahweh my God, as Yahweh spoke to David my father, saying, ‘Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place shall build the house for my name.’

And, behold, I purpose H559 (QalActPtc) to build H1129 (QalInf) an house H1004 unto the name H8034 of the Lord H3068 my God, H430 as the Lord H3068 spake H1696 (PielPerf) unto David H1732 my father, H1 saying, H559 (QalInf) Thy son, H1121 whom I will set H5414 (QalImpf) upon thy throne H3678 in thy room, he shall build H1129 (QalImpf) an house H1004 unto my name. and lo, I am saying to build a house to the name of Jehovah my God, as Jehovah spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son whom I appoint in thy stead on thy throne, he doth build the house for My name.

When Hiram heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced greatly, and said, “Blessed is Yahweh today, who has given to David a wise son to rule over this great people.”

And it came to pass, when Hiram H2438 heard H8085 (QalInf) the words H1697 of Solomon, H8010 that he rejoiced H8055 (QalImpf) greatly, H3966 and said, H559 (QalImpf) Blessed H1288 (QalPasPtc) [be] the Lord H3068 this day, H3117 which hath given H5414 (QalPerf) unto David H1732 a wise H2450 son H1121 over this great H7227 people. H5971

And it cometh to pass at Hiram’s hearing the words of Solomon, that he rejoiceth exceedingly, and saith, ‘Blessed is Jehovah to-day, who hath given to David a wise son over this numerous people.’

Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, “I have heard the message which you have sent to me. I will do all your desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning cypress timber.

And Hiram H2438 sent H7971 (QalImpf) to Solomon, H8010 saying, H559 (QalInf) I have considered H8085 (QalPerf) the things which thou sentest H7971 (QalPerf) to me for: [and] I will do H6213 (QalImpf) all thy desire H2656 concerning timber H6086 of cedar, H730 and concerning timber H6086 of fir. And Hiram sendeth unto Solomon, saying, I have heard that which thou hast sent unto me, I do all thy desire concerning cedar-wood, and fir-wood,

My servants will bring them down from Lebanon to the sea. I will make them into rafts to go by sea to the place that you specify to me, and will cause them to be broken up there, and you will receive them. You will accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.”

My servants H5650 shall bring [them] down H3381 (HiphImpf) from Lebanon H3844 unto the sea: H3220 and I will convey H7760 (QalImpf) them by sea H3220 in floats H1702 unto the place H4725 that thou shalt appoint H7971 (QalImpf) me, and will cause them to be discharged H5310 (PielPerf) there, and thou shalt receive H5375 (QalImpf) [them]: and thou shalt accomplish H6213 (QalImpf) my desire, H2656 in giving H5414 (QalInf) food H3899 for my household. my servants bring down from Lebanon to the sea, and I make them floats in the sea unto the place that thou sendest unto me, and I have spread them out there; and thou dost take them up, and thou dost execute my desire, to give the food of my house.’

besides Solomon’s chief officers who were over the work: three thousand three hundred who ruled over the people who labored in the work.

Beside the chief H8269 of Solomon’s H8010 officers H5324 (NiphPtc) which [were] over the work, H4399 three H7969 thousand H505 and three H7969 hundred, H3967 which ruled H7287 (QalActPtc) over the people H5971 that wrought H6213 (QalActPtc) in the work. H4399

apart from the heads of the officers of Solomon, who are over the work, three thousand and three hundred, those ruling over the people who are working in the business.

The house which King Solomon built for Yahweh had a length of sixty cubits,° and its width twenty, and its height thirty cubits.

And the house H1004 which king H4428 Solomon H8010 built H1129 (QalPerf) for the Lord, H3068 the length H753 thereof [was] threescore H8346 cubits, H520 and the breadth H7341 thereof twenty H6242 [cubits], and the height H6967 thereof thirty H7970 cubits. H520

As to the house that king Solomon hath built for Jehovah, sixty cubits is its length, and twenty its breadth, and thirty cubits its height.

“Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes, and execute my ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father.

[Concerning] this house H1004 which thou art in building, H1129 (QalActPtc) if thou wilt walk H3212 (QalImpf) in my statutes, H2708 and execute H6213 (QalImpf) my judgments, H4941 and keep H8104 (QalPerf) all my commandments H4687 to walk H3212 (QalInf) in them; then will I perform H6965 (HiphPerf) my word H1697 with thee, which I spake H1696 (PielPerf) unto David H1732 thy father: H1

‘This house that thou art building-if thou dost walk in My statutes, and My judgments dost do, yea, hast done all My commands, to walk in them, then I have established My word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father,

He overlaid the whole house with gold, until all the house was finished. He also overlaid the whole altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary with gold.

And the whole house H1004 he overlaid H6823 (PielPerf) with gold, H2091 until he had finished H8552 (QalInf) all the house: H1004 also the whole altar H4196 that [was] by the oracle H1687 he overlaid H6823 (PielPerf) with gold. H2091

And the whole of the house he hath overlaid with gold, till the completion of all the house; and the whole of the altar that the oracle hath, he hath overlaid with gold.

It was covered with cedar above over the forty-five beams that were on the pillars, fifteen in a row.

And [it was] covered H5603 (QalPasPtc) with cedar H730 above H4605 upon the beams, H6763 that [lay] on forty H705 five H2568 pillars, H5982 fifteen H6240 [in] a row. H2905

and it is covered with cedar above, on the sides that are on the forty and five pillars, fifteen in the row.

He made the porch of the throne where he was to judge, even the porch of judgment; and it was covered with cedar from floor to floor.

Then he made H6213 (QalPerf) a porch H197 for the throne H3678 where he might judge, H8199 (QalImpf) [even] the porch H197 of judgment: H4941 and [it was] covered H5603 (QalPasPtc) with cedar H730 from one side of the floor H7172 to the other. H7172

And the porch of the throne where he judgeth-the porch of judgment-he hath made, and it is covered with cedar from the floor unto the floor.

His house where he was to dwell, the other court within the porch, was of the same construction. He made also a house for Pharaoh’s daughter (whom Solomon had taken as wife), like this porch.

And his house H1004 where he dwelt H3427 (QalImpf) [had] another H312 court H2691 within H1004 the porch, H197 [which] was of the like work. H4639 Solomon H8010 made H6213 (QalImpf) also an house H1004 for Pharaoh’s H6547 daughter, H1323 whom he had taken H3947 (QalPerf) [to wife], like unto this porch. H197

As to his house where he dwelleth, the other court is within the porch-as this work it hath been; and a house he maketh for the daughter of Pharaoh-whom Solomon hath taken-like this porch.

There were nets of checker work and wreaths of chain work for the capitals which were on the top of the pillars: seven for the one capital, and seven for the other capital.

[And] nets H7638 of checker H7639 work, H4639 and wreaths H1434 of chain H8333 work, H4639 for the chapiters H3805 which [were] upon the top H7218 of the pillars; H5982 seven H7651 for the one H259 chapiter, H3805 and seven H7651 for the other H8145 chapiter. H3805

Nets of net-work, wreaths of chain-work are for the chapiters that are on the top of the pillars, seven for the one chapiter, and seven for the second chapiter.

So he made the pillars; and there were two rows of pomegranates around the one network, to cover the capitals that were on the top of the pillars; and he did so for the other capital.

And he made H6213 (QalImpf) the pillars, H5982 and two H8147 rows H2905 round about H5439 upon the one H259 network, H7639 to cover H3680 (PielInf) the chapiters H3805 that [were] upon the top, H7218 with pomegranates: H7416 and so did H6213 (QalPerf) he for the other H8145 chapiter. H3805

And he maketh the pillars, and two rows round about on the one net-work, to cover the chapiters that are on the top, with the pomegranates, and so he hath made for the second chapiter.

The capitals that were on the top of the pillars in the porch were of lily work, four cubits.

And the chapiters H3805 that [were] upon the top H7218 of the pillars H5982 [were] of lily H7799 work H4639 in the porch, H197 four H702 cubits. H520

And the chapiters that are on the top of the pillars are of lily-work in the porch, four cubits;

There were capitals above also on the two pillars, close by the belly which was beside the network. There were two hundred pomegranates in rows around the other capital.

And the chapiters H3805 upon the two H8147 pillars H5982 [had pomegranates] also above, H4605 over against H5980 the belly H990 which [was] by H5676 the network: H7639 and the pomegranates H7416 [were] two hundred H3967 in rows H2905 round about H5439 upon the other H8145 chapiter. H3805

and the chapiters on the two pillars also above, over-against the protuberance that is beside the net; and the pomegranates are two hundred, in rows round about on the second chapiter.

and on the panels that were between the ledges were lions, oxen, and cherubim; and on the ledges there was a pedestal above; and beneath the lions and oxen were wreaths of hanging work.

And on the borders H4526 that [were] between the ledges H7948 [were] lions, H738 oxen, H1241 and cherubims: H3742 and upon the ledges H7948 [there was] a base H3653 above: H4605 and beneath the lions H738 and oxen H1241 [were] certain additions H3914 made of thin H4174 work. H4639

and on the borders that are between the joinings are lions, oxen, and cherubs, and on the joinings a base above, and beneath the lions and the oxen are additions-sloping work.

Hiram made the pots, the shovels, and the basins. So Hiram finished doing all the work that he worked for King Solomon in Yahweh’s house:

And Hiram H2438 made H6213 (QalImpf) the lavers, H3595 and the shovels, H3257 and the basons. H4219 So Hiram H2438 made H3615 (PielImpf) an end of doing H6213 (QalInf) all the work H4399 that he made H6213 (QalPerf) king H4428 Solomon H8010 for the house H1004 of the Lord: H3068

And Hiram maketh the lavers, and the shovels, and the bowls; and Hiram completeth to do all the work that he made for king Solomon, for the house of Jehovah;

the two pillars; the two bowls of the capitals that were on the top of the pillars; the two networks to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on the top of the pillars;

pillars two, and bowls of the chapiters that are on the top of the pillars two, and the nets two, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that are on the top of the pillars;

the four hundred pomegranates for the two networks; two rows of pomegranates for each network, to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on the pillars;

And four H702 hundred H3967 pomegranates H7416 for the two H8147 networks, H7639 [even] two H8147 rows H2905 of pomegranates H7416 for one H259 network, H7639 to cover H3680 (PielInf) the two H8147 bowls H1543 of the chapiters H3805 that [were] upon H6440 the pillars; H5982

and the pomegranates four hundred for the two nets, two rows of pomegranates for the one net, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that are on the front of the pillars;

the pots; the shovels; and the basins. All of these vessels, which Hiram made for King Solomon in Yahweh’s house, were of burnished bronze.

And the pots, H5518 and the shovels, H3257 and the basons: H4219 and all these vessels, H3627 which Hiram H2438 made H6213 (QalPerf) to king H4428 Solomon H8010 for the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 [were of] bright H4178 (PualPtc) brass. H5178

and the pots, and the shovels, and the bowls; and all these vessels, that Hiram hath made to king Solomon for the house of Jehovah, are of brass-polished.

Solomon made all the vessels that were in Yahweh’s house: the golden altar and the table that the show bread was on, of gold;

And Solomon H8010 made H6213 (QalImpf) all the vessels H3627 that [pertained] unto the house H1004 of the Lord: H3068 the altar H4196 of gold, H2091 and the table H7979 of gold, H2091 whereupon the shewbread H3899 H6440 [was],

And Solomon maketh all the vessels that are in the house of Jehovah: the altar of gold, and the table-on which is the bread of the Presence-of gold,
